SHR # 2543 :: The BluePrint Power Hour - Coach Rob Regish - Viewer-Listener questions are answered about training, nutrition, supplementation and more. No question is off topic. Come join the fun live.
SHR # 2542 :: Bed-Sharing in Couples is Associated with Increased and Stabilized REM sleep and Sleep-stage Synchronization with Dr. Henning J. Drews MD - Sharing the bed with a partner is common among adults and impacts sleep quality with potential implications for mental health. However, hitherto findings are contradictory and particularly polysomnographic data on co-sleeping couples are extremely rare. The present study aimed to investigate the effects of a bed partner's presence on individual and dyadic sleep neurophysiology.PLUS The solution to all higher education needs started in 1855 in Kentucky. You won't believe it when you hear it.
SHR # 2541 :: Which Form of Magnesium is Best and Why PLUS An Unintended Way Weight Lifting Makes Aging Easier - Wade Lightheart and Matt Galant - Magnesium is said to be the most underrated electrolytic mineral. It's also said that it's the one that most people are deficient in. Debates about form of magnesium and their effectiveness rage on. Is there a difference? Does one form work better than another? Tune in and we will answer these and other questions about magnesium. PLUS More critical thinking 101 from Carl.
SHR # 2540 :: The Link Between the Gut and Death by Sleep Deprivation - Dr. Alexandra Vaccaro - Dr. Yosef Kaplan Dor - Prof. Dragana Rogulja - The first signs of insufficient sleep are universally familiar. There's tiredness and fatigue, difficulty concentrating, perhaps irritability or even tired giggles. Far fewer people have experienced the effects of prolonged sleep deprivation, including disorientation, paranoia and hallucinations. Total, prolonged sleep deprivation, however, can be fatal. While it has been reported in humans only anecdotally, a widely cited study in rats conducted by Chicago-based researchers in 1983 showed that a total lack of sleep inevitably leads to death. Yet, despite decades of study, a central question has remained unsolved: why do we die when we don't sleep?
SHR # 2538 :: RLRx: Resistance Training In Older Adults – Effects On Muscle Function and Osteoarthritis with Ronnie Milo - As we age the composition of our muscles change leading impaired muscle function. Many older adults suffer from osteoarthritis that makes them unable to exercise. As they move less, muscle function gets worse. Especially in the prime-movers lie the legs. Eventually this leads to inability to walking stability and falling. We look at two studies when taken together show that that degradation can be reversed by resistance exercise and moving more. Exercise also positively affects osteoarthritis symptoms making moving more easier. This may be the final word on "do we age because we move less or do we move less because we age". And this is an amazing opportunity for personal trainers and strength and conditioning coaches.
SHR # 2537 :: What Did We Learn: The Aftermath of a Media Blackout - Dr. Judy Mikovits - In May I did a show with Dr. Judy Mikovits about her new documentary Plandemic. Many people took issue with many of the things Dr. Mikovitz said. The internet exploded upon her taking down post and shows she did in favor for anyone and everyone who would disagree with her. When you see this much of a coordinated effort it should make you wonder why. What was said that was so inflammatory that all media outlets felt the need to quash it? Every day there are dissenting opinions in science that do not elicit this gravity of response. One are where there is little room for disagreement is politics however. Is that what this is all about? Whistle-blowers receive all sorts of protection in the scientific arena. They do not, however, in the world of politics. Are our nations politicians trying to cover up something? We look back at the statements and assertions Dr. Mikovits made and see how right or wrong she was. Hindsight is 20-20.
SHR # 2535 :: Dose-response Effects of Protein Intake on Muscle Protein Synthesis During Recovery from Endurance Exercise - Prof. Luc J.C. van Loon, Ph.D - The anabolic window has been well understood in recovery after resistance training for some time now. We've also understood that protein intake within that window increases the protein synthetic response to training. What is less understood is the effects of protein intake after endurance exercise and how it affects post-workout protein synthetic response. This study aimed to determine the effect of graded doses of dietary protein co-ingested with carbohydrate on whole-body protein metabolism, and skeletal muscle myofibrillar (MyoPS) and mitochondrial (MitoPS) protein synthesis rates during recovery from endurance exercise.
SHR # 2534 :: Efficacy of Glutathione Therapy in Treating COVID-19 Related Pneumonia PLUS 62 And None The Wiser - Dr. Richard Horowitz, MD - Infection with COVID-19 potentially can result in severe outcomes and death from cytokine storm syndrome, resulting in novel coronavirus pneumonia (NCP) with severe dyspnea, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), fulminant myocarditis and multiorgan dysfunction with or without disseminated intravascular coagulation. No published treatment to date has been shown to adequately control the inflammation and respiratory symptoms associated with COVID-19, apart from oxygen therapy and assisted ventilation. We evaluated the effects of using high dose oral and or IV glutathione in the treatment of 2 patients with dyspnea secondary to COVID-19 pneumonia. PLUS Carl turns 62 tomorrow. Is he older and wiser? Maybe not.
SHR # 2532 :: New Hope for ACL Injuries PLUS GHRP6 to Cure GERD - Dr. Lindsey Lepley, PhD, ATC - Joe Christiano - Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injuries are one of the most common injuries people sustain. The ACL is one of the key ligaments that help stabilize your knee joint. The ACL connects your thighbone (femur) to your shinbone (tibia). It's most commonly torn during sports that involve sudden stops and changes in direction, but more and more people are suffering injuries to the ACL. A new study shows adding eccentric exercises could improve physical therapy outcomes. PLUS GERD is a common condition in our population. Typical therapies include antacids, proton pump inhibitors and in extreme cases, surgery to tighten the esophageal sphincter. What if using the common peptide GHRP6 actually fixes the problem?
SHR # 2531 :: RLRx: Anabolic Steroid Excess and Myocardial Infarction PLUS Very-Low-Carbohydrate Ketogenic Diet in Acromegaly Treatment - Adam Lamb - Steroid hormones like testosterone and it's synthetic derivatives have been shown in studies to make the heart stronger. Supraphysiologic doses are tied to a variety of morphological changes to the heart that are detrimental. When a heart attack occurs having a really strong heart becomes one of those detriments. PLUS There have been lots of discussions about how the strict high fat low protein-carb keto diet the hormones that help muscle to grow. While this study is on a type of hormonal dysregulation – Agromegaly – it points a fine point on how growth hormone and IGF-1 are modulated by the diet and what that may mean if you are trying to increase both tissue turnover and protein synthesis.
SHR # 2530 :: Career Paths in Troubled Times – A Story Of Movers and Shakers - August Cohen - My entire life I've heard stories of people who made great moves during troubled times. What did they know? How did they navigate the challenges differently while everyone else struggled ad worried? Unemployment is at a historic level due to COVID-19. Many people are out of work and hopes of returning to their old jobs have been dashed. Are there opportunities in all of this? Should you be considering changing careers? What about staying in your current career path but using these times to springboard further up the ladder? Could this mess actually be a door to your greatest life ever?
SHR # 2529 :: Spending Time in the Garden Linked to Better Health and Wellbeing PLUS Virology 101: Where Do Viruses Go When They're Dormant - Dr. Sian De Bell, PhD - Research conducted by the University of Exeter and the Royal Horticultural Society charity, published in Elsevier's Landscape and Urban Planning, analyzed data from nearly 8,000 people collected by Natural England between 2009 and 2016. The research, conducted with funding from Innovate UK and NIHR, found that people who spend time in the garden are significantly more likely to report general good health, higher psychological wellbeing and greater physical activity levels than those who do not spend time in the garden. Is gardening making them healthier? Or do healthier people seem to do more gardening among other activities? PLUS Listener Pasi Säkkinen from New Zealand puts Carl on the spot to defend his assertion that even if we stayed shut down for years, once previously infected people began to circulate among us, they'd begin to spread the virus again. Is he wrong? Let's see.
SHR # 2528 :: The Piedmontese Breed of Cow and Why It's Superior to Any Other PLUS An New Angle On Fixing Your GERD - Ben Mohl - Joe Finegan - The Piedmont region of Italy fostered a unique breed of cattle out of necessity. Known as triple-purpose cattle, raised principally for draught power for pulling heavy tonnage, but valued also for meat and milk. The goal of the breeding was to produce a cow that was super muscular, super strong, yet delicious and tender to eat. An emphasis on hypertrophic muscle growth characteristic, known as groppa di cavallo or horse rump, first appeared in 1886 in the commune of Guarene d'Alba. Little did they realize they had stumbled upon and perpetuated what we now know in science as myostatin null cattle. Bulls and cows that looked like superior beasts to all other breeds. Double-muscle they were called because they grew to carry double the muscle mass of any other breed. And the beef was far more delicious and tender than any other cattle, a genetic gift we only understand now that we know how myostatin inhibition affects muscle development. Take a journey back to the ancient origins of this little known breed. Learn how you can now enjoy this tender, delicious beef once only available in Italy, now raised here in the USA and delivered right to your door. PLUS Do you suffer from GERD? Regular episodes of heart burn? Do you feel like it takes forever for food to move out of your stomach? Carl may have a solution that will change your life.
SHR # 2527 :: What is The Veech Ketone Ester PLUS A Meteorologist Answers Carl's Question - Part of the entire Keto movement is the use of exogenous ketone supplements. One of the most sought after sources is the ketone ester. And the Veech Ketone Ester seems to be the most promising. PLUS On a previous show Carl suggested that the lock-down has led to a drastic reduction in carbon-dioxide emissions, and that drop is having an affect on our weather. Is he way off?
SHR # 2526 :: The BluePrint Power Hour PLUS What Kills 40,000 Americans A Month And Isn't Named COVID-19 - Coach Rob Regish - Viewer/listener questions are answered about training, nutrition, supplementation and more. Here is a short sampling of questions. PLUS More critical thinking as it relates to the reaction of our government to the current pandemic. And why I don't believe the government when they say all of their actions are about saving lives.
SHR # 2525 :: The Effects of Testosterone on the Physiological Response to Social and Somatic Stressors PLUS Listener Question About Vitamin D - Adam Lamb - Previous studies have shown that high testosterone levels in men decreased stress reactivity. At the same time some studies showed higher testosterone levels increased stress response. In this study they set out to apply a stress in two conditions. One with the subject alone in a room and one with an observer. The results were very interesting. PLUS Listener Christopher Price asked - what is the safest amount of D3 one can take orally, daily? Can D3 be taken intravenously, and if so, since you bypass the digestive track, does that lessen the chances of harming the kidneys?
SHR # 2524 :: Grumpy Science Guys: If Your Brain Gets Old Before Your Body Does, You are Screwed PLUS GHK-cu Update PLUS The Perils Of Taking Too Much Glycine - Dr. Bob Dennis, PhD – Dr. Mark Tommerdahl, PhD - In today's population we see a lot of evidence that people's brains are breaking well before their bodies wear out. This is not a good thing. We see dementia kicking in at early 40's. We see neurodegeneration like MS and Parkinson's widespread in our population. Autoimmunity is a big contributor as well as exposure to bad actors in our environment. If you ask a person suffering from a degenerative brain disorder what would you give up to halt the progression of your disease they'd say anything and everything. But discovering what's causing the problem requires adding in or removing the things you suspect are contributing to the problem. And that requires precise ongoing brain testing to determine what's working and what's not. Your insurance company isn't going to pay for that even if a lab was willing to let you test multiple times a month. And buying equipment to use at home would cost you hundreds of thousands of dollars. Until now. How's 29.95 for the cost to test your brain in the comfort of your own home, every day if you'd like? With the same accuracy as those hundreds-of-thousands-of dollars lab equipment testing for function, acuity , healing, plasticity and recovery sound? This is a Super Human Radio Exclusive. PLUS Carl discusses his current GHK-cu experiment and what happens when you take too much glycine for too long. It can be scary.
SHR # 2523 :: Cardiovascular Effects and Benefits of BFR PLUS Critical Thinking 101: Co2 Levels Are at Record Lows.. Why Isn't Anyone Talking About It? - Dr. James Stray-Gunderson, MD - The role of blood-flow restriction training has been well illustrated in improving the anabolic response to exercise in numerous studies. But what about the effect on the heart and cardiovascular system at large? Blood-flow restriction creates a partitioning of blood in the limbs the BFR bands are applied to. Does this make it a good choice for people with existing heart conditions? What about the hemodynamics effects? Could BFR aid in various types of peripheral blood flow diseases? The and many more questions will be answered. PLUS Critical Thinking 101: Co2 is at an all-time global low. Lower than any Green New Deal ever promised to make them. Yet we have some of the craziest weather of all times. What's up with that? Why isn't the MSM asking questions?
SHR # 2522 :: The Epigenetic Effects of Tobacco and Alcohol PLUS Shielding Your Body From RF Soup PLUS Busting the 5G equals COVID-19 Myth - Dr. William Seeds, MD - Dr. Daniel Elias Martin Herranz, PhD - Arthur Menard de Calenge - Tobacco and alcohol are the two most abused substances in our population today. Studies have been published supporting the notion that some alcohol is good and protective of health. There are even those who claim smoking a cigarette from time to time has a beneficial hermetic effect. Now with precise epigenetic testing being made available to the masses we can, for the first time, actually assess if alcohol is in-fact protective. And we can measure with accuracy if they are damaging health and by just how much. PLUS I've discussed numerous times on the show that living in this RF soup from cell phones, wifi, cordless phones, etc. is having a definite effect on us on a cellular level. The studies are piling up. Now you can take matters into your own hands a protect your body from this RF exposure and perhaps even improve sleep at the same time! PLUS I continue to get emails and calls about rumors that 5G is causing COVID-19. It's not!! Here's why.
SHR # 2521 :: Amplify the Success of Your Low-carb and Keto Diet PLUS Answer to My Question Does the CDC Profit on Vaccines - Matt Gallant - Wade Lightheart - The low-carb and keto diet have been shown to be amazing elimination diets that go way beyond just fat loss. For many it reverses autoimmune diseases as well. In recent studies its been shown to reverse brain aging, push back dementia and reduce overall chronic inflammation. So why don't more people do it? It has some obstacles. Many people complain they just can't. Loss of energy, fatigue, brain fog, constipation are just a few reasons they give up. There is a way around these. And these answers will improve the desired results in both those who struggle to adapt as well as those who are already rocking the low-carb keto lifestyle.
SHR # 2519 :: Exercise During Pregnancy Reduces Obesity Among Offspring - Dr. Min Du, PhD - When physically fit women exercise during pregnancy they could be setting their children up for better fitness too. That is according to a study published today in Science Advances led by Min Du, professor of animal sciences at Washington State University, and his PhD student Jun Seok Son. They found exercise during pregnancy stimulates the production of brown adipose tissue, commonly known as brown fat, in a developing fetus. Brown fat's primary role in the body is to burn off heat. It is often called good fat. White adipose tissue or white fat, on the other hand, is responsible for obesity and harder to burn off. It is commonly known as bad fat.
SHR # 2518 :: The Pep Talk: GHK-cu - Dr. Elizabeth Yurth, MD - GHK-cu is a naturally occurring peptide first isolated from human blood plasma. It has since been identified in urine and saliva as well. Research into GHK-cu has found the sport peptide to have substantial benefits in wound healing and immune function. It has anti-aging properties and has been found to suppress free-radical damage, increase protein synthesis, fight bacteria, and increase the health of skin and skin fibroblasts. It’s also under the 400 Dalton molecular weight threshold which makes it suitable for topical and transdermal delivery.
SHR # 2517 :: RLRx: DHEA for Menopause. Melatonin for Type-2 Diabetes. What You Need To Know About COVID-19 Anti-body Testing PLUS Science-Grab - Adam Lamb - Two OTC supplements can help women and men. We will discuss two recent studies that should provide valuable information for listeners who are, or know someone who is, dealing with menopause or type-2 diabetes. PLUS Anti-body tests are being hawked by many different companies today. Are they all legit? Are some more reliable than others? PLUS In times of distress and distractions science tries to leverage the fact that perhaps no one is really paying attention. A recent study attempts to make the case that the barbaric and ineffective androgen-deprivation-therapy may protect men from contracting and dying from COVID-19.
SHR # 2516 :: How does sugar drive consumption? Scientists discover gut-brain sugar sensor in mice PLUS More Problems With The Lock-down - Dr. Alexander Sisti, MD/PhD Candidate - People love to say sugar-is-addictive, and while it is not addictive in there clinical sense of the word, it definitely has an effect on desire and consumption. Artificial sweeteners have never fully succeeded in impersonating sugar. Now, a Columbia University study in mice has identified a brain mechanism that may explain why. In a scientific first, researchers have shown that the brain responds not only when sugar touches the tongue but also when it enters the gut. Their discovery of this specialized gut-brain circuit offers new insight into the way the brain and body evolved to seek out sugar. And because artificial sweeteners do not activate this circuit, the study also offers compelling evidence as to why these sweeteners are never quite as satisfying as the real thing. PLUS Some of the signs the lock-down is causing more problems.
SHR # 2515 :: Hangover Drug Shows Wider Benefits in USC Research PLUS Does The CDC Make Money on Vaccine Patents - Dr. Daryl Davies, PhD and Joshua Silva - During this pandemic shut-down liquor stores have been deemed essential and remain open. What is not essential are hangovers! A well-known hangover drug not only helps soothe pounding headaches but also triggers profound changes that protect the liver, USC scientists report in new findings that could help prevent alcohol-related harm. Alcohol use disorders constitute the most common form of substance abuse. About 88,000 people die of alcohol-related deaths annually -- the third leading preventable cause of death in the United States, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. PLUS The CDC owns some 28 vaccine patents. Why? And does it make our government any money? Simple questions I think need to be answered.
SHR # 2514 :: Diet Modulates Brain Network Stability, a Biomarker for Brain Aging, in Young Adults PLUS Virology 101 - We Can not Wait This Virus Out - Dr. Lilianne Mujica-Parodi, PhD - Epidemiological studies suggest that insulin resistance accelerates progression of age-based cognitive impairment, which neuroimaging has linked to brain glucose hypometabolism. As cellular inputs, ketones increase Gibbs free energy change for ATP by 27 percent compared to glucose. Here we test whether dietary changes are capable of modulating sustained functional communication between brain regions (network stability) by changing their predominant dietary fuel from glucose to ketones. PLUS Even if we stayed quarantined in place for a year, this virus will make its way through the population. And a vaccine will not change that. In fact, if the CV19 is anything like the seasonal flu vaccine, it is going to be less than 55 percent effective for a broad population. We only beat it if we start to come out of hiding.
SHR # 2513 :: COVID-19: Plague of Corruption - Dr. Judy Mikovitz, PhD - Most of us feel something is wrong with how our Government is handling this COVID-19 pandemic. We were told we must flatten the curve to avoid overrunning our hospital capacities and that mutated to a complete nationwide shutdown. We were told wearing masks would not help yet heavy-handed Governors are mandating by law that people were masks out in public. The WHO warned countries not to follow Swedens approach to this pandemic as they were making a huge mistake with the lack of draconian shut-down. That it would cost them tens of thousands of lives. Now just yesterday the WHO praised Sweden for their model and effective response to this pandemic. Many will think this is just a level of ineptitude combined with learning-as-we-go. My guest today suspects corruption. And she has a good reason to know.
SHR # 2512 :: Breath: The New Science of a Lost Art PLUS Is Carls Theory Right? - James Nestor - Mark David John Evans - It is estimated that we do this mindlessly 17,000 to 30,000 times a day. And that is just when we are at rest! Breathing. One of the functions of the autonomic nervous system, happens without much or our attention. Is it time we start paying more attention to our breathe? Stresses of modernity have a direct effect on our breathing. Disease states effect our breathing. Emotions effect out breathing. Some evidence even shows our breathing may effect certain diseases. Come along with me as we learn why and how to improve our relationship with our breathe and how that will elevate and change our lives for the better. Sometimes it is the simplest things that have the biggest impacts. PLUS Carls suggestion that he sees a way to control future pandemics by focusing on cities that have both busy international travel hubs plus a population dependence on mass transit is put to the test by a skilled statistician. If Carl right? PLUS The winner of the 429 dollars BFR system is named. Was it you?
SHR # 2511 :: Glute Lab: The Art and Science of Strength and Physique Training - Dr. Bret Contreas, PhD CSCS - There has been a fascination with butts in the past couple decades. I say it all started with J Lo who made big round proud asses popular around 1991. She was born with that anti-gravity-ass, but most women don’t have those genetics. It wasn’t till my guest arrived on the scene that women with pancake butts could rejoice. Hard work and focused exercises delivered an award-winning anti-gravity-ass to any women who wanted it, and was willing to put in the effort. But its not just about women or aesthetics. His techniques helped many of us build stronger squats and deadlifts! And from an anti-aging perspective, your glutes go first. And that leads to all sorts of changes in gait and stride that cause hips, knees and ankles to get wonky. One might contend that the butt is the most important muscle group of all of them! Listen and learn how you can regain strength, size, and while you’re at it, and anti-gravity-ass of your own.
SHR # 2510 :: The BluePrint Power Hour PLUS The Real Heroes Of The CV19 Pandemic - Listener/viewer questions are answered about training, nutrition, supplements, drugs and more. Come join the fun.
SHR # 2509 :: COVID-19: Exercise May Protect Against Deadly Complication - Dr. Zhen Yan, PhD MD - Regular exercise may reduce the risk of acute respiratory distress syndrome, a major cause of death in patients with the COVID-19 virus. New research "strongly supports" the possibility that exercise can prevent or at least reduce the severity of ARDS, which affects between 3% and 17% of all patients with COVID-19. Based on available information, the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates 20% to 42% of patients hospitalized for COVID-19 will develop ARDS. Based upon prior to the pandemic suggested that approximately 45 percent of patients who develop severe ARDS will die. As a result of this new research a potential treatment plan is suggested.
SHR # 2508 :: RLRx: The Oversimplification Of Male and Female Hormones - Ronnie Milo - Many doctors say testosterone is the male hormone or estrogen is the female hormone, but they are completely wrong. This lack of informed opinion puts their patients at great risk. If your physician speaks in these terms it shows a level of ignorance of both science and critical thinking. You’ve been warned.
SHR # 2507 :: Assess Recovery and Brain Health Accurately in the Comfort of Your Own Home - Prof. Mark Tommerdahl - Wouldn’t you like to know if you’re ready to train again or need more rest before your next intense training session? How about if those expensive nootropics you’re buying are actually working? Or, is that new Autism regimen you’re using with your child, helping? Maybe you just want to know if your brain is aging well or not. Assessing brain function and acuity requires expensive equipment normally found in a lab. Not anymore. Now you can get these and more accurate answers sitting right at your kitchen table. Here’s how.
SHR # 2506 :: BluePrint Power Hour with Coach Rob Regish - Listener/viewer questions are answered about training, nutrition, supplements, drugs and more. Come join the fun.
SHR # 2505 :: Nicotinamide May Treat Fibrotic Eye Diseases and Mitigate Vision Loss - Dr. Tim Blenkinsop, PhD - Most diseases that cause catastrophic loss of vision do so as a result of abnormal angiogenesis and wound healing. This may be a result of injury, aging or diabetes. New research indicates that the use of a common and inexpensive vitamin B3, nicotinamide, not only inhibits these cell transformations, but can also reverse that cell transition and slow down the development of eye diseases that may lead to vision loss or blindness. Most fascinating is that these advanced nutrient therapies may prove to effect all tissue types throughout the entire body.
SHR # 2504 :: New Insights Into the Mechanisms of the Ketogenic Diet - Dr. Detlev Boison, PhD - High-fat, low-carbohydrate ketogenic diets have been used for almost a century for the treatment of epilepsy. Used traditionally for the treatment of refractory pediatric epilepsies, in recent years the use of ketogenic diets has experienced a revival to include the treatment of adulthood epilepsies as well as conditions ranging from autism to chronic pain and cancer. Despite the ability of ketogenic diets therapy to suppress seizures refractory to antiepileptic drugs and reports of lasting seizure freedom, the underlying mechanisms are poorly understood. In this interview we explores new insights into mechanisms mobilized by the ketogenic diet.
SHR # 2503 :: Beyond Biological Age Assessment - Dr. William Seeds, MD and Dr. Daniel Elías Martín Herranz - So you have bought into the new biological age assessment testing movement. While you’re chronological age is 53 your biological age is 67. Yikes! Ok now you know. SO what do you do? What do you change? Should you give up red meat? How about that glass of red wine that’s supposed to be good for you? Is it really good for YOU? If we’ve learned anything over the past decade about nutrition, it’s very individual. Your microbiome is like a fingerprint. No two are alike. This means when someone says “you should eat more vegetables and fiber, fiber is good for you” they may be wrong. It may not effect you the same way it effects that well-meaning person. In fact anyone who tells you "this is the way you should eat" is automatically wrong! The game has changed. What’s good for you is what’s good for YOU. So what are you doing now that will have the greatest effect on reversing your biological age? Now there’s a way to know.
SHR # 2502 :: Gut Microbiome: Driver Of Health Or Passenger Of Your Diet? - Dr. Leigh Frame, PhD and Dr. Scott Jackson, PhD - The ability to measure the gut microbiome led to a surge in understanding and knowledge of its role in health and disease. The diet is a source of, fuel for, and influencer of composition of the microbiome. The microbiota utilize and produce micronutrients. The bidirectional relationship between micronutrition and the gut microbiome is emerging.
SHR # 2501 :: Targeted Digestive Enzymes: Triple The Effectiveness Of Every Gram of Protein - Wade Lightheart - The mantra of eating 1 gram of protein per pound of bodyweight has served many of us in adding lean muscle. As we age we have to eat more protein to trigger the same protein synthetic response as when we were younger. We also know that digestive enzymes drop as we age. What if by taking a targeted enzyme blend specifically designed to break down and digest protein you could eat less protein and get the same muscle gains? Or eat the same amount of protein and get 3 times the growth. And what would this do for the younger lifter who’s on a budget?
SHR # 2500 :: RLRx: SPECIAL EPISODE: This Will Make You Resistant To COVID-19 - Ronnie Milo - There’s so much information out there about COVID-19 it’s dizzying. We a want to know just one thing – How do I pretext myself from getting it! After all that’s why we are on lock-down worldwide, washing our hands feverishly, wearing protective masks and social distancing. But if you pay attention to some basic science you can discover why this disease preys upon the elderly and those with pre-existing diseases. But not all pre-existing illness. Specifically diseases that occur in the diabetic obese portion of our population. Listen to this show as we connect the dots and you will see and understand how to not only protect yourself from getting this virus, but also what to do if you do get it. This will be the last interview you’ll need to save you and your family.
SHR # 2499 :: Purified Fish Oil Could Prevent Thousands of Cardiovascular Events - Dr. Nathan Wong, PhD - Researchers from the University of California, Irvine have conducted a statistical analysis that predicts more than 70,000 heart attacks, strokes and other adverse cardiovascular events could be prevented each year in the U.S. through the use of a highly purified fish oil therapy. How does purified fish oil do this? And what about eating more omega 3 rich fish? We discuss this and more.
SHR # 2497 :: Dr. Michael Lisanti, MD - PhD - The oldest in our global population have suffered the greatest mortality from this pandemic outbreak. Experts warn that this of us over 60 years of age are at greatest risk of dying. Many of us in this audience already use senolytic agents to help push back biological aging. Are these strategies helpful in protecting against COVID-19 as well? Is there a difference in the death toll of those who are chronological 0ver 60 years old versus a 65 year old person who is biologically 40? And what of time restricted feeding? It imparts some of the same benefits as senolytics. We learn the answers to these and more on today's show. - Dr. David Nieman DRPH - Today’s interview discusses research discoveries within 4 areas of exercise immunology that have received the most attention from investigators: 1- acute and chronic effects of exercise on the immune system, 2- clinical benefits of the exercise–immune relationship, 3- nutritional influences on the immune response to exercise, and 4- the effect of exercise on immunosenescence.
SHR # 2496 :: The Compelling Link Between Physical Activity and the Body's Defense System - Dr.
SHR # 2494 :: It is Not Just a Cup of Coffee: The Effects of Caffeine Pre and Post TBI - Dr. Detlev Boison PhD - Coffee has a beneficial effect on traumatic brain injury. But it is not simple. Pre-treating and post-treating the injured brain have different effects. As well as chronic coffee consumption post TBI. Knowing what works and what does not will make a world of difference to the injured person. This research also helps those who suffer from seizures and Epilepsy.
SHR # 2493 :: RLRx: Sex Differences That Drive Blood Pressure - Adam Lamb - Women tend to have lower blood pressure than men. Why? This new study explores why.
SHR # 2492 :: World’s First Epigenetic Testing - Dr. William Seeds, MD - Dr. Daniel Elías Martín Herranz PhD - We now know that you’re not a hostage of your genes. Twin model studies have proven this conclusively. But up until now actually assessing our own Epigenetics and interpreting actionable meaning of it has been mostly a mystery. That’s all about to change. The way DNA testing has given us a window into what predispositions we may have been born with, Epigenetic testing will allow us for the first time ever to interpret how our lifestyle, the things we drink, the foods we eat and our environment is interacting with effects those genes. As an example, we have been in search of the perfect human diet for decades. Epigenetic testing will now allow us to determine what YOUR perfect diet is! Those who tune in today will also be offered a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to learn their own Epigenome.
SHR # 2490 :: Boundless: Upgrade Your Brain, Optimize Your Body, Defy Aging - Ben Greenfield - Few people have the credentials to write a book like this. His goal was selfish. He wanted a road-map. A single book that would provide a guide to optimizing the human body, mind, and spirit—written with no stone unturned, no fluff, no “watered down” drivel—just pure, hardcore, practical, from-the-trenches content. It didn’t exist, so he wrote it himself.
SHR # 2489 :: Together Apart: Making The Best of the Coronavirus - TLAT Alisa Profumo - We’re all stressed. We’re all worried. And now we’re all quarantined in our individuals homes. 5 days into a 15 day "social distancing" exercise that we hope will lead to our lives normalizing. So many people are already at wits end. Cabin fever is at an all time high. And the not-knowing is making it worse. Some feel that our lives will never be back to normal. And if so, when? July? August? We have to find ways to come together and keep moving forward. And while we wait for our lives to normalize we have to learn how to live TogetherApart.
SHR # 2488 :: The Therapeutic Effects of Dihydro Honokiol (DHHb) in Coronavirus and Cancer - Dr. William Seeds, MD - Honokiol is derived from the Magnolia tree. There is a vast and and relativity ignored series of effects that have profound chemo-protective and antiviral benefits. One of the original downsides of honokiol is the very short half life in the human body which can be measured in minutes. This form of honokiol dramatically increases the half life to 4 to 6 hours and potency to 30 times making it feasible to use therapeutically.
SHR # 2486 :: Using Current Information To Predict Coronavirus Trajectory in the USA - Mark David John Evans - We follow the statistical model produced by statistician who is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries to predict the trajectory of the Coronavirus here in the USA against the backdrop of what we already know about its spread in South Korea, China, Italy and Cruise Ships. How many will get infected? How many will die? Are we seeing any results from our efforts to suppress its spread here in the USA?
SHR # 2485 :: RLRx: Sex Differences and Coronavirus - Ronnie Milo - While there are no direct studies that have looked at this, some statistics from China plus studies that have looked at the roles of estrogens and androgens on influencing immune function and autoimmunity give us a glimpse of the risks and rewards of being men and women.
SHR # 2484 :: Fixing Night Blindness - Leslie Burke - Nyctalopia is the term used for night blindness. A phenomenon described by the NIH as a normal part of the aging eye. It’s estimated that over 24 million adult Americans suffer from night blindness not caused by optic nerve or retinal issues. By that age of 75 over 50% of us will develop difficulty seeing in dimly lit environments, or being blinded when driving at night by oncoming headlights? Do you find yourself a bit panicked when driving at night because the oncoming headlights make you lose sight of the road? Or you find yourself using the flashlight app on your smart phone to read the menu at restaurants because, while the print isn’t necessarily hard to read, you feel it’s just too dim to see? This condition is attributed to changes in the crystalline lenses of the eye that make it more opaque. This makes rays of light harder to reach the retina. Lie looking through a really dirty window. It may also be the early signs of a developing cataract. There is something you can do about it to regain your ability to see in dimly lit environments as you age.
SHR # 2483 :: Probiotic Re-imagined: Repopulate Your Gut With Healthy Microbes - Wade Lightheart and Matt Gallant - I’ve always asked why we couldn’t just plant new healthy microbes in our gut the way we re-seed our lawns. Well now it may be possible. This single strain firmicute has been shown to: improve protein digestion and absorption; reduce SIBO, IBS and autoimmune symptoms; protect against bad bacteria and pathogens taking up residence in your gut; reduce morning brain-fog and improve mental clarity. It’s also associated with leaner more muscular bodies in scientific papers that look at ratios of firmicutes to Bacteroidetes in lean versus obese individuals. And the patented delivery system makes it double its population every 20 minutes helping to repopulate your gut like reseeding your lawn.
SHR # 2481 :: Ladies: You're Missing Out On A Faster Way To Build Fitness, Health and Performance - Kathy Smith - Forbes calls Kathy Smith a “Fitness Titan” for good reason. SHR # 2480 :: Continuing Education Series: Hitting The Right Targets of Biologic Aging - Dr. Elizabeth Yurth - The concept of measuring the difference between chronologic and biologic aging is a new phenomenon. First it was telomere length, but that hasn’t proven to be accurate. Many new metrics have since followed. Few have panned out to be accurate as we dive deeper. Often in science its not the obvious or sexy stuff that has real meaning. It’s usually the things right under our nose that have been around for decades, and thus, often ignored. What if the targets to accurately measure biologic aging are already in our hands? Today we will discuss a new program that is offered to laypeople that unlocks the target markers of biologic aging. Understanding these will help provide accurate data-points to assess if what you are doing is actually working. We will also explain how you can become certified yourself.
SHR # 2479 :: The Pep Talk: Peptide Protocols To Protect Against and Treat COVID-19 - Ryan Smith - Several peptides show efficacy in suppressing viruses like influenza. But COVID-19 is a reverse transcripted virus like HIV and EBOLA. Can these peptides also protect against COVID-19 and even be used to treat patients who have already contracted the virus? PLUS There are people who are regularly infected with viruses and never develop symptoms. Why is that? What's different about their immune system? Could the linkage between seasonality of influenza and virus spread be a result of the sun and vitamin D3? And if it is, what can you do in the winter?
SHR # 2478 :: When Less Is More: Staying Fit and Sane For New Moms - Gina Aliotti - Today’s mom doesn’t want the “mom bod”. Post childbirth weight gain and loss of fitness just doesn’t cut it today. Many new moms want the body they had before childbirth.. and they want it now. But do some push too hard? And how do you find the time and energy with a growing family? Does pushing too hard have the potentials to backfire? Sometimes less is more.

PLUS Are you worried about the possibility of catching COVID-19? Well I may have discovered a way to stack the odds in your favor if not getting sick.
SHR # 2476 :: Kratom As A Pre-workout - Mark Bell - Kratom is a very misunderstood plant. Many think that because it interacts with the opioid receptor that it must be like opioids. Kratom’s analgesic effects are undeniable. But its ability to improve mood and focus is not something you’d expect from a plant the kills pain like an opioid. So would it be a good pre-workout? Especially for us older athletes? PLUS Mark discusses diets. He's leveraged many to his benefit. His current plate-of-choice is carnivore.
SHR # 2475 :: The Pep Talk: Reversing Collateral Damage From Stroke With peptides - Dr. Suzanne Ferree Turner - Every year there are some 665,000 strokes. Many of those people do not fully recover due to "therapy caps" and other barriers. They face a lifetime of disability and two thirds will never work again. Therapy caps are dollar amount limits on therapies that the insurance companies put in place to protect against over-spending. But what’s over-spending for one may be the recovery of another. There are very few therapies that actually produce recovery to stroke patients. And if someone wants to peruse their recovery beyond the insurance company’s coverage they have to pay out of pocket. Most would pay if they thought there was something that promised to help. A physician is helping stroke patients improve their outcomes. And she’s using peptides as an important part of her protocol. If you’ve suffered a stroke or know someone who has, you’ll want to listen closely. Hope is a new feeling for many.
SHR # 2474 :: RLRx: Modulatory influence of sex hormones on vascular aging - Adam Lamb - It may turn out that many of the diseases associated with aging are caused my the reduction of blood flow to nerves, organs and the brain. What effects these blood pathways? And what can be done to reverse this?
SHR # 2473 :: Cesarean Section: An American History of Risk, Technology, and Consequence - Jacqueline Wolf - Between 1965 and 1987, the cesarean section rate in the United States rose precipitously—from 4.5 percent to 25 percent of births. By 2009, one in three births was by cesarean, a far higher number than the 5–10% rate that the World Health Organization suggests is optimal. While physicians largely avoided cesareans through the mid-twentieth century, by the early twenty-first century, cesarean section was the most commonly performed surgery in the country. What were the unintended consequences of this practice?
SHR # 2471 :: John Romano - Brent LaLonde - Alimony has been around sine the late 1700’s to protect women and children when a man decided to find a new life without his family. Fast forward to today when Alimony has taken a turn and can be a way for women to wield the court system to punish and even crush the lives of the men they once loved. SHR # 2466 :: The Pep Talk: Treating Major Depressive Disorder With peptides - Dr. Elizabeth Yurth, MD - The #1 reason people contact me about peptides is asking if there are any that can treat depression. Now I can say yes. . Treating depression is not only difficult, but often doesn’t work at all. Up to 30% of those prescribed SSRI’s say they didn’t work. Ever notice some people NEVER get depressed? Not just hiding it well, but seriously never get depressed? That may be due to the elevated expression a peptide known as Spadin that literally makes them immune to depression. Now you may be able to leverage this peptide to solve your own depression problems.

Those who want to arm themselves with knowledge about the subject generally have to turn to people who are just marginally more knowledgeable than themselves. Not any longer. From the man behind the movement, Dr. William Seeds, comes the first-ever clinicians guide to peptides. Learn how to get your copy on today’s show. PLUS If you're a hard-training Super Human blood testing for health insurance or life insurance may leave you confused. Markers usually associated with health problems may be elevated even though you don't have health problems. You'll need to be able to explain to those who don't get it. Here are the links to studies that can help.
SHR # 2462 :: OSOM: Suicide In America - John Romano - The CDC reported in January that suicides are up 40% over the past 17 years. Ask any American who's committing suicide and they'll inevitably reply young people or the economically underserved. Ask them why and they'll tell you bullying, income inequality, low socioeconomic standing, accessibility of guns and fatherless homes. But they'd be wrong. What if I told you 70% of all suicides in America are men. And the largest percentage are white middle to older aged men. And they're in the mid to top economic strata. So what's going on? And as men, what can we do?
SHR # 2461 :: Proteins In The Blood and Aging PLUS What I'm Digging... - Joel Greene - Gabriel Shaw sent a question as a result of Joel's last interview. Joel said the three distinct points in which the body ages is early 30’s, early 60’s, late 70’s. Why is that? And what can we do to avoid these unwanted changes? PLUS What I'm Digging.. recent blood work scared the crap out of me.. here's why.
SHR # 2460 :: US Tap Water Contains Forever Chemicals - What Does That Mean to You? PLUS What I'm Digging... - Israel Passwater - Tap water Continues to be an issue in America. I don't think anyone feel confident drinking tap water. But what about cooking with it? Or showering and bathing in it? Is there more to worry with these types of exposures? PLUS What I'm Digging.. two studies implicate iron and iron accumulation in the development of senescent cell. Iron is needed for life. Excessive consumption of red meat, which carries the form of heme iron the most absorbable of all iron sources, may require careful monitoring of irona levels. But the iron needs a catalyst to turn a healthy cell into a senescent cell. Learn what that catalyst is today.
SHR # 2459 :: RLRx: The Onset of Effects From Testosterone Replacement PLUS What I'm Digging... - Ronnie Milo - There are still men out there on the fence about testosterone therapy. SHR # 2458 :: The Real Science Behind Molecular Hydrogen - Tyler W. LeBaron - We evolved under the influences of gasses. Just like gravity and the sun, gasses have shaped thew human condition. So why is it a shock that just slightly increasing exposure to hydrogen may hold profound benefits to health, longevity and aging well? This show get deep into the science revolving about the effects of molecular hydrogen on humans.
SHR # 2456 :: EXPLICIT - OSOM: It's Not Your Imagination. Today's Men Are Morphing Into Women PLUS Stuff I'm Digging - John Romano - A new study shows that today's man is mane in me only. Over the past 20 years testosterone levels have plummeted. Today's young men have testosterone levels that are close to the upper ranges seen in women. What's going on? And can men actually become extinct? A new segment I'll be adding to the lineup is Stuff I'm Digging. I'll cover studies that aren't practical to interview a guest author but the information is valuable to the audience. Today I'll discuss a study that shows how resistance training eliminates senescent cells.
SHR # 2455 :: The Pep Talk: Cibinetide (ARA 290) This Groundbreaking Peptide Can Treat Neuropathy, Neuralgia and Fibromyalgia - Dr. Elizabeth Yurth, MD - The National Institute of Health estimates over 20 million people suffer from peripheral neuropathy. They also acknowledge that this number may be highly under-represented since there a other forms of neuropathy that don’t cause pain. Add to that only recently it was shown that Fibromyalgia has a neuropathy and small fiber nerve damage component so add to that another 12 million - almost all women. The most insidious type of nerve degradation that rarely gets reported due to lack of pain attacks the organs in the body. Remove the nerve impulses from the heart, liver, pancreas or brain and slowly your body begins to fail. Most neuropathies are treated with drugs like Cymbalta in an attempt to mitigate the pain. They often don’t work and carry horrible unwanted effects. This peptide looks to be the first thing that addresses the problem by fixing and repairing the nerves as opposed to masking the symptoms.
SHR # 2454 :: When Intermittent Fasting Backfires - Joel Greene - We first talked about IF back in 2007 on SHR. Fast-forward to today and the mainstream is now promoting IF is the Holy Grail of dietary approaches that promises improved weight loss, age reversal, insulin sensitivity, immune function and much more. But is it really? Like every dietary fad people can take it too far. Is there a downside to IF? Is it wise to do indefinitely? What happens when it backfires? What about longer fasts? These and many other questions will be discussed.
SHR # 2452 :: Can A Nandrolone-Only Protocol Work For Gains and HRT? - Taeian Clark - Back in the day nandrolone-only cycles were common place. Today its generally combined with testosterone. SHR # 2451 :: RLRx: New Study Looks At The Pathways Testosterone Protects Against Cardiovascular Disease - Ronnie Milo - In light of new guidelines suggested by the American College of Physicians released on Monday, older men should not be prescribed testosterone except to remedy sexual dysfunction. Are they completely wrong? A recent study in the Journal of Cardiovascular Translational Research looked at Testosterone levels and the association with the main risks for CVD, namely metabolic syndrome, type 2 diabetes mellitus, obesity, atherosclerosis, dyslipidaemia and hypertension. Is the new guidelines putting more men at risk?
SHR # 2450 :: OSOM: Identifying Things That Need to Change and Changing Them for 2020 - John Romano - WARNING: Some curse words were used that may not be appropriate for children. But at the root of your success or failure is an interesting. It's your willingness to suffer.
SHR # 2448 :: Metformin’s False Status as a Wonder-drug for Longevity and Physique Goals PLUS MORE :: Jared Boynton and Taeian Clark - Metformin is promised to make already healthy people to live longer, leaner and healthier. The drug has been studied in humans since 1950, but its popularity as an anti-aging drug is very recent. And its not truly supported by the literature. All of its purported anti-aging effects in otherwise healthy people is all basically extrapolated. There are no long term studies that prove otherwise healthy people who took the drug lived longer than the control that didn't. People who believe its value fro anti-aging will fight you if you disagree with them!
SHR # 2447 :: BEST OF: Unilateral Leg Training For Greater Gains And Strength PLUS Study Shows Exercise Reduces Men's Risk Of Dementia And Chronic Disease :: - Guest: Bret Contreras - Prof. Peter Elwood - It can be said that we live life on one leg at a time. So why don't more people do unilateral leg training? What can unilateral leg training do for you if you incorporate it into your current training? And which exercises lend themselves to the best outcomes? This and much more are discussed by Contreras. PLUS Prof. Elwood is lead author of a study that looked at the effects and outcomes of a large cohort over 30 years and discovered that exercise protects against chronic disease. What was also surprising (maybe not to this audience) was that it protected against cognitive decline as well. PLUS Carl is calling all Super Human's to download the new Smartphone App
SHR # 2446 :: BEST OF: Hormonal Contraceptive And Multiple Sclerosis Susceptibility PLUS Effects Of HRT On Cerebral Function In Postmenopausal Women At Risk Of Dementia PLUS Genetic Dysbiosis: The Role Of Microbial Insults In Chronic Inflammation - Guest: Dr. Annette Langer-Gould - Dr. Natalie Rasgon - Dr. Luigi Nibali - This show originally aired in April of 2014. Multiple Sclerosis is on the rise in women. Dr. Langer-Gould's group looked at the linkage between hormonal contraceptives and the prevalence of Multiple Sclerosis. PLUS Dr. Rasgon's group looked at brain function, metabolism and cognition in a group of postmenopausal women who are genetically predisposed to dementia. They compared those who are currently on HRT and those who were on and stopped. They also corrected for those using beta-estradiol, beta-estradiol and progesterone combined and compared to those using Conjugated Equine Estrogen as well as synthetic estrogen and progestins. The results was astounding and explains why the Women's Health Initiative study was a complete failure and ultimately hurt a lot of women. PLUS Many of us are aware of the importance of the microbiome in our body. But what if you can't influence it through the introduction of beneficial microbes? What if your genetics predispose you to specific phyla of microbes and not others. And THIS is the real "genetic predisposition" to developing diseases like Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Cancer and more. Dr. Nibali's group may have discovered that its your genes that allow your body to adopt some microbes while not others.

There is a newly researched small molecule that may do just that in the face of the Standard American Diet. In fact it may do much more than that. It may build muscle faster and improve strength in just 2 weeks of use.
SHR # 2432 :: If Blood Flow Restriction Works Why Aren't You Using It - Dr. Jim Stray-Gunderson - I did my first interview about KAATSU, or also known as Blood Flow Restriction Training in 2006. Dr. Stray-Gunderson first appeared on SHR in 2015 to further the discussion. The body of work on blood flow restriction training has grown further. The cumulative take-away is it works at building muscle faster. So why aren't you using it?
SHR # 2431 :: BEST OF: Central and Peripheral Nervous System Adaptation and Recovery - Kelly Baggett - This show originally aired in December of 2006. Strength has little to do with muscle size and all to do with central and peripheral nervous system development. The nervous systems ability to recruit more muscle fibers is the true source of strength. This never rang truer till I was a judge at a Powerlifting event where I was fortunate enough to see a young man named Ron Palmer deadlift 700 pounds and bench over 500 pounds at 181 pounds. I remember seeing him at enrolment time. He didn't draw near the attention that the Heavyweights did but he outperformed many of them on the platform. What I recall most of all was watching the wave of muscle being recruited in his back as he pulled the 700 pounds off the floor. It was like one of those aerial views of the shockwave radiating outward from a nuclear blast in the desert. It was the moment that the concept of nervous system development crystallized for me. On this episode of Super Human Radio we'll explore proper techniques to increase nervous system development, adaptation and recovery as well as some common mistakes that athletes make that hampers their progress. We will also give some specific training examples of routines that can help you make greater strength gains in less time.
SHR # 2430 :: BEST OF: Anti-aging Pill For Pennies A Day - Dr. Russel Reiter - This show originally aired in January of 2007. All of the things we thought about melatonin, and more, have come to fruition. Now melatonin is being heralded not as much of a sleep aid as it is in reducing chronic inflammation, And it crosses the blood-brain-barrier which is unique for any antioxidant. Oh yeah, its one of the most powerful antioxidants as well. Studies have show that it protects the brain against the disruptive effects of high frequency transmitters like cell phones and cordless phones. It's the one supplement I have used consistently and continuously for over 20 years now. In this first-of-many interviews with Dr. Reiter he talks about using 20 mg of melatonin nightly. In 2018 when I communicated with him last he was up to 60 mg a night. Dr. Reiter is still publishing papers on the pineal gland and its primary hormone melatonin.
SHR # 2429 :: BEST OF: Big Beyond Belief - Leo Costa - This show originally aired in April of 2007. His book, Big Beyond Belief was a seminal work in the world of greater strength, and indirectly size, to come along in decades. After living with the Bulgarian Strength Team and their Coaches, Leo brought to the USA a glimpse at Bulgarian Burst Training. A way of flirting with overtraining that actually made you stronger. If you consider yourself a true physical culturist this book is a must-read. If you have read it, dust it off an read it again.
SHR # 2428 :: BEST OF: Seeing The Bigger Picture - Sustainable Strength Gains - Wade Johnson - This show was not Coach Johnson's first appearance on SHR. He first appeared in early 2006. This show aired in March of 2007. I've know Wade for a lot longer than I've been doing the podcast so it was a comfortable chat as I was still a little stiff behind the mic. I don't even have any of the old notes OR SHOW DESCRIPTION SINCE ITS LONG BEEN REMOVED FROM THE SERVER. Its about getting strong and staying strong and in light of the fact that Coach Wade keeps winning medals in Olympic lifting (his new love) and PowerLifting (his original love) at his advanced old-ass age (I can say that because I'm older than him.. just call me dirt) I think you should listen to this interview every day for a week because if that old proof pudding thing is real, he knows stuff because he's not slowing down.
SHR # 2427 :: Women And Anabolic Steroids: The Intersect Between Health and Performance - Victoria Felkar, PhD Candidate - More and more women are driven to present shredded, muscular physiques. From Hollywood actresses preparing for a role in an action movie to athletes competing in sports. They drive popular appeal of this new female physique that says to the world I don't need a man to protect me. Everyday women are now adapting this look and as such are turning to performance and appearance enhancing drugs to get the job done. But do high levels of androgens posses a unique risk to women? And can that risk be mitigated by taking specific steps? This interview became so much more when the discussion about hormonal birth control pills entered the mix. So many women don't realize their birth control is doing many of the same things performance enhancing drugs are doing.

But somewhere along the way social constructs, convenience, productivity and expense gave way to replacing human breast milk with formula. What impact has that had on our evolutionary journey?
SHR # 2420 :: Open Season On Men: Of Fathers and Sons - John Romano - Fathers and sons have an interesting dynamic. When we're very young we want to be just like our father's. Then our greatest struggle for autonomy is defining how we're different. And at the end of our live's we realize we're a lot more like them than we ever thought. Being appreciative of that defines how well you really like yourself, and not your father.
SHR # 2419 :: The Pep Talk: The Dynamic Duo of peptides - IGFLr3 and MGF - Dr. Elizabeth Yurth, MD - These are two peptides that have real undeniable physiological effects on performance, recovery from injury and health. Because they really work, you can't be cavalier about their use.

SHR # 2416 :: BEST OF - Rapamycin As A Longevity Drug - Dr. Mikhail Blagosklonny - This show first aired in May 2010. No one had rapamycin or the mTOR/AMPK pathways to reverse senescent cells on their radars yet. Rapamycin may represent the the first "longevity and anti-aging drug" that will be marketed by the Pharmaceutical Industry. When you listen to the interview you'll realize that it may reduce the occurrences of ALL the chronic diseases that are ravaging our population while extending life up to 30%.
