In this final episode of Season 4, I go in and peel back the layers on what it has really felt like to be a disrupter this year. I let you into the not-so-glamorous parts of full-time entrepreneurship, navigating my own interpretations of success and failure, and giving myself grace for charting my own path in a way I never have before. In this episode, I hope you walk away feeling both inspired and empowered to get messy in 2024 and to more importantly celebrate the effort that you put into the things you want. Because in the end, that is what matters way more than the GOAL itself.
This is a vulnerable episode for me - but I only thought it fair to give you a peek inside of the sometimes dark underbelly of being a disrupter - and while still in the midst of the lows, it's all still beautiful.
Picture this: Two friends, sitting down over coffee, sharing stories that have defined them, broken them, and ultimately propelled them forward. That's what this podcast episode is all about.
As my dear friend, Elaine Hamilton and I sit together, we get real. Not only is our guest, Elaine, a close friend and storyteller extraordinaire, she unveils the intricacies of her personal journey – the highs, the lows, and the transformative moments in between.
But this isn’t just any story: it’s a testament to the human spirit's ability to rewrite and redefine.
In this deeply reflective episode, we invite listeners to pull up a chair and join us in a raw and vulnerable conversation about the power of transforming your story. We delve into the concept of "shifting your story," exploring how individuals can navigate life's challenges by reframing their experiences.
Elaine shares poignant anecdotes, lessons learned, and the pivotal moments that prompted her to shift her perspective. From confronting past traumas to embracing newfound passions, we uncover the transformative power of self-awareness and intentionality. Our hope is that you will be inspired to reflect on their narratives, questioning whether their current story aligns with their authentic selves.
Together, we challenge the notion that we are passive characters in our tales, urging listeners to become active authors of their destinies. Tune in as we navigate the delicate balance between vulnerability and strength, providing a safe space for listeners to explore their stories' potential shifts.
Join us for a heartfelt conversation that promises to challenge, inspire, and empower. Because sometimes, all it takes is a shift in perspective to rewrite the story of a lifetime.

In a world that often emphasizes the idea of finding 'the one' or being 'picked' by another, I delve into my own experiences of questioning these societal norms and finding empowerment in my own self-worth.
Join me on a deeply personal episode where I open up about the challenging journey of my divorce and how I reflect on disrupting the conventional notion of being "chosen."
Through candid and heartfelt storytelling, I share the raw emotions, the introspective moments, and the hard-won insights that emerged from the dissolution of my marriage. I explore the process of rediscovering my identity beyond the confines of a relationship and the powerful transformation that occurred when I started to redefine what it means to be truly valued.
During this episode, I reflect on the societal pressures surrounding marriage and partnership, and how my own divorce compelled me to challenge these norms. I discuss the importance of embracing one's individuality and finding self-worth from within, rather than seeking external validation or confirmation from others.
Drawing from both personal experiences and psychological insights, I offer practical advice and thought-provoking perspectives on how to navigate the complex emotional landscape of divorce and self-discovery.
This episode is not just about my story, but a conversation aimed at empowering listeners to embrace their own paths, question societal expectations, and redefine their own narratives of self-worth and fulfillment.
Tune in as we break down the barriers of societal expectations, challenge the concept of being 'chosen,' and discover the true power of choosing ourselves.
This is an episode for anyone who has ever questioned their worth, grappled with the complexities of divorce, or sought to redefine their own sense of value and purpose.
What does it mean to feel like an imposter? And still go after the dreams that matter to you?
In this episode, Dina sits down with Dr. Nandi Shareef, a transformational coach and trainer and founder and CEO of The Shareef Group to unpack navigating imposter syndrome to get to the truest part of you, with vulnerability and courage.
Nandi knows what it feels like to believe she’s an impostor—because she's had plenty of opportunity. She’s spent over a decade in the corporate world, including four-plus years as a successful leader in the fast-paced, highly competitive L&D space at Uber Technologies. Plus, she started her own business as an executive coach, which comes with its own set of unique challenges. But she not only endured, she thrived. Because after a lifetime of extremely painful personal losses, she learned how vital it is to show up as yourself—always. Now she empowers others to embrace authenticity as the foremost imperative for creating an extraordinary life in her forthcoming book, Imposter No More: How to Tell the Truth and Start Living Authentically.
Dr. Nandi is an award-winning coach, trainer and motivational speaker. She has helped thousands of people through her work at The Shareef Group, a boutique speaking and coaching firm that ignites the gifts and talents of global leaders to create a transformed world. She’s helped clients increase their income and savings by millions of dollars, establish themselves as entrepreneurs, and give back hundreds of thousands of dollars in funds and in-kind donations to community organizations. In the corporate world, she facilitates internal career and leadership coaching development and trains and coaches high-tech and nonprofit leaders on public speaking and communications.
In this raw and exciting episode, Nandi and Dina unpack what it takes to be a disrupter, even in spite of navigating imposter syndrome - and how it can be the key to your authenticity.

In this solo episode, I unpack what the last four years of building the vision for Enough Labs has felt like in planting the seeds for the vision. Most of the time, it felt like I had to reconcile with being uncomfortable with a lot of people telling me, "I just don't get it." Wanting so badly to marry the two loves of global women's empowerment work with coaching, I kept plugging away at wanting to curate spaces for honest, authentic conversations around confidence and leadership.
Fast forward to today, where I share with you what the last week has felt leading a training where I led conversations on emotional intelligence, confidence, leadership and gender norms - all conversations I LOVE. And what I share what it felt like when I realized that the hypothesis I had four years ago is really beginning to take shape. The belief: that women and girls GLOBALLY are facing similar challenges around confidence, and it's starting at an early age.
My hope is that after listening to this conversation, you take away that sometimes, when you're a disrupter, many people won't get what you're trying to build. In fact, it may take a while for people to get it.
And that's ok.
You don't have control over how long it will take for the seeds of disruption to take shape; but you do have control over whether you answer the call and block out the noise telling you that you can't or shouldn't.

Gina Moffa, LCSW, is a licensed clinical social worker in private practice and feels wholeheartedly that the people who sit on her couch are courageous. She shares in her latest book, Moving on Doesn't Mean Letting Go that "some of them would shudder to hear me call them “brave,” but it’s true."
Grief may be one of our most universal emotional experiences, but that doesn’t erase how isolating, confusing, and profoundly painful it can be. It takes a lot to look at your pain head-on, to see what’s under it.
Currently residing in New York City, Gina has helped thousands of people seeking treatment for grief and trauma. She knows first hand how hard a time people have in expressing their emotions, struggling to access their vulnerability. In this episode, Gina takes us through that forbidding voice echoed in every person who has told someone going through grief to get over it or move on.
After hearing it so many times from so many different people, Gina shares that it makes perfect sense that so many people haven't figured out how to be where they are in their grief experience.
And Gina feels it has EVERYTHING to do with the fact that we are living between the shock of the loss and the expectations of others. I hope you leave inspired by this conversation with her and give yourself permission to disrupt your own patterned thinking of what you think grief should look like, and recognize that it gets to look exactly as you see it.

What happens when you tell and live your truth? You are in fact disrupting the status quo. And it's scary as hell.
In this solo episode, Dina reflects on what she has been reflecting on the hard truth of being a disrupter and what it takes to tell your truth.
She talks about why so many women who are disrupters - within their careers, to their families, to even in front of the mirror disrupting their own toxic thought patterns - can relate to how hard it can feel. Because to be a disrupter requires you to live by your truth.
She shares one of her favorite quotes by Muriel Rukeyser:
"What would happen if one woman told the truth about her life? The world would split open."
Our work as women is to name our fears of the world splitting open if we hsare our truth and help others and outselves to do it anyway. To see the ways in which we are silenced NOT as character flaws but as learned behaviors in a world that wants us quiet, compliant, and endlessly serving others’ needs before and instead of our own.
It is understandable, even to be expected — your fear of what might happen when/if you tell your truth. Still and always, it deserves to be spoken and lived — no matter what, all the time, endlessly, and in every single context and conversation possible.
In this episode, Dina shares three reminders to be aware of when you are leaning into the discomfort of telling your truth and disrupting the status quo. Because knowing/anticipating the “havoc” that will potentially result when you DO tell your truth is all the data you need to know this is EXACTLY what is required for you to be fully yourself.
What you fear serves you. It’s a powerful form of discernment AND it’s the evidence that you can trust yourself and your truth enough to speak and live it.

In this episode, Dina sits down with long-time friend, Lina AbiRafeh to unpack what led her to pursue a career in women's rights and speaking up against violence against women.
In all honesty, when Dina met Lina over 20 years ago, she embodied disruption and being your own blueprint. Sitting across from Lina in London over coffee while she was pursuing her PhD, Dina looked up to Lina in so many ways - mostly for her brazen, tell it like it is way - that is just purely infectious.
In a word, Lina is committed to building a better world for women. She is a global women’s rights expert and gender equality advocate with decades of experience worldwide.
An activist, academic, and an aid worker with a 25-year track record in creating positive change for women in over 20 countries around the world - Afghanistan, Haiti, Central African Republic, Papua New Guinea, and more - Lina speaks and publishes frequently on a range of women’s issues – on global stages and in the international media.
Lina is a force to be reckoned with. She is someone who is integral to the very thinking and action in the field of woman's rights. Not only will she tell it like it is, she'll give you a healthy dose of wit. And if you're fortunate to be invited to her home, she'll put out a huge spread.
A feisty disrupter herself, Lina shows us in the episode what disruption has looked like over the course of a career spanning over two decades and what disruption looks like now.
She has the unique ability to pull together the right people, in the right place and time to make phenomenal change happen.

Identity can be a weird thing. The way we think of ourselves, how we define ourselves, the story we tell ourselves about who we are, all of that comes together to create our identity.
But what happens when we reach a crossroads where we are clear that we have to let go of a certain part of our identity - or pehaps all of it entirely?
In this solo episode, Dina unpacks a topic that doesn't get enough attention, and that's grief. But not in the sense you would think. We talk about grieving the loss of an identity we have let go of in order to move forward.
For many women, they have planted the seeds of courage to go after their truth and what truly matters to them. But it's not a process that is without its moments of uncertainty and doubt. It's a veritable rollercoaster of emotions. Mourning the loss of the person you used to be, the relationships that you built around that identity and the dreams that no longer serve you. And all the while, realizing that letting go is the only way to grow.
Dina shares how taking the time to reflect on your identity is not only necessary, it's a radical act of self-determination, acknowledging pieces that will never be the same and establishing new pieces of the self that are built on things that came before.

For as long as I can remember, I have been the stereotypical “good girl.” While it's something I used to take pride in when I was younger, I'm now realizing how problematic it has been - in my friendships, in my relationships, and in my career. Being the good girl, or telling yourself you have no other choice comes at a cost: an immense amount of pressure, most of it self-inflicted.
As a person who has always strived to improve (mentally, physically, spiritually, emotionally, socially), I have often fallen into the trap of attempting perfection, which always ends in failure. People get disappointed with good girls - because it's impossible to be good ALL the time. Because being a “good girl” comes with a lot of pressure to be well-behaved, kind, generous, modest, enthusiastic, polite, and friendly at all times. In this solo episode, Dina reflects on a thread that has been coming up this season sitting down with disrupters - the long held belief that we have to be good in order to be liked, validated, and successful. And the longer we resist it, the longer we stew in our own resentment. It's high time we really call out the behavior of people rewarding girls (and women) for being good - and just let us BE.

In this first episode of Season 4, Dina unpacks her word for 2023: DISRUPT.
Deciding to dedicate this entire season to disrupters, she shares her earliest story of being a disrupter in her career and discusses the pros and cons to disrupt certain narratives and toxic systems. She reflects on how earlier in her career, she was afraid of being "too disruptive"; but how now being firmly planted in full-time entrepreneurship, she feels completely comfortable in owning that title of DISRUPTER with confidence.
We define what it means to be a disrupter in this episode. Simply put, we see it as someone who is brave enough to challenge the status quo and introduce new and innovative ideas. It’s about thinking outside the box, taking a risk, and not being afraid to fail in the face of experimenting with a different perspective.
The hope in this episode is to get clear on your personal definition of what it means to be a disrupter; and identify the areas of where you could be taking more risks to disrupt any limiting beliefs.

In this final episode of Season 3, I unpack what the a year of unlearning has helped show me by way of what I've learned, unlearned, and how it's prepared for me what I think is next (because how can we really know, right?)
What a wild and unpredictable ride it's been - and I wouldn't have it any other way. Tune in to hear my thoughts and reflections about what being committed to a conversations about unlearning has shown me about myself and the lessons I've taken from it.
I invite you in to hear a little bit about Chapter 2022 where I peel back the curtain to what this year has really been like....the glamourous highs and the not so glamorous lows...and how I've been able to access gratitude for it all.
Thank you for being a part of the conversation and I hope that you'll be along for the next season!
This week, I sit down with public speaking coach, Kalilah Hudson to talk about the power of storytelling. We all have one hell of a story to tell, and Kalilah's is no different.
Kalilah is the owner of K Hud Coaching and she helps women become better public speakers by providing them with the tools, methods, and support to speak confidently and authentically on stage and social media.
Because women are more likely to be empathetic, humble, and purpose-driven she believes that an empowered woman with a strong voice and message can impact generations for the better.
Her mission: To help purpose-driven women feel like they no longer have to navigate their speaking challenges alone. Here they have a safe place to share their ideas so they can achieve the confidence, authority, and visibility they've always wanted.

In this week's episode, I chat about what my friend, Andrea recently said to me that made me snap into some real harsh truths. That's what friends are for though, right? Well, she got me all the way right (but first had me all the way in my feelings!) about patterns I had been guilty of repeating. All in service of a belief that had me thinking I wasn't (wait for it...) good enough. No matter how long it's taken me to learn this lesson that I only need to show up for myself and people who are grateful to be in spaces with me, I'm still here learning (and unlearning). I get to give myself permission to start over, as many times as I need to. And to take care of myself first so that I have the energy and space to share my whole self.
And respectfully, be a F&*K YES to me.

In this week's episode, I talk about what I've been feeling with just days up to The Unlearning Lab LIVE, reflections on how the lessons I picked up as a child formed who I thought I had to be as an adult, and reflect on the simple and pure beauty of watching two little girls I adore (Anya and Alsa) navigate their childhood and how I get to be a proud un-official auntie to them. Life is long, and beautiful, and messy - and all so worth it. And to me in this moment, I'm so glad I get to unlearn what was never mine to begin with.

Today is my birthday episode, and I share how birthdays are a bit of a mixed bag for me. #libra Celebration has always been a bit of a minefield for me and I unpack a little as to why. What the last year has taught me is the power that can come with choosing yourself. And as I celebrate this birthday, I'm reminded of how good choosing yourself can feel - but that it's not without those pangs of sadness and uncertainty around...'but will it work out though?" The last year has taught me the power of choosing me can be THE MOMENT. And that is more than enough.
Want to celebrate my birthday with me? Come to The Unlearning Lab LIVE! https://keap.page/jvg567/the-unlearning-lab-live1.html?fbclid=IwAR0wl7udgtrUACYsURbmNsBiLbTiAGfmrdoevPXxeAVky2GHD-cJGPxtX28
In this episode, I talk about the things that we learned in our 20s about who to be at work, in relationships and in friendships. I crowd sourced a bunch of girlfriends of the things that they learned in their 20s or embraced to be true that they are now realizing later in life weren't doing us any favors.
It’s impossible to pinpoint which exact moments or days in our 20s had the most impact, but they for sure shaped who I am today. It was every conversation, interaction, decision, success, and failure that I experienced in my 20s, which slowly molded me into the person I am over a period of time. And now at 40, I'm realizing those lessons had nothing to do with the woman I'm becoming.

I recorded this episode from my bathroom as I was getting ready! Crazy, I know. But I had to get the words out because I woke up with thoughts about the idea that you have to process your old life completely in order to step into your new life. This podcast was inspired by a text message I got from a friend asking for advice and interestingly enough, she put into words what I have been struggling with over the past week. This idea that we need to properly get over our old life in order to step into our new one. I offer in this quick episode that there is no old life and new life. Just life. And its messy. And damn if it isn't beautiful.
In this solo episode, I unpack a topic I've been quite literally obsessed with and that is this incessant need to prove yourself. There isn't a single place in our lives where we can't find some area where we are trying to prove others wrong or are desperately afraid of proving them right. Well, I'm tired of all this proving and offer an alternative option in this conversation - what if we abandoned the idea that we have anything to prove in the first place? Wild idea, I know. Instead, decide that we've already proven enough. Celebrate where you are in your process and forego all of the proving - because the real spoiler in all of it - no one is paying as close attention as you think you are. So the only one wrapped up in this warped relationship is YOU.
I'm unlearning the belief that I have to expend all of this energy and effort asp art of proving something about myself. It's caused me a ton of heartbreak along the way; and I'm offering something different. I hope it inspires you to put it down as well.
Tickets are still available to The Unlearning Lab LIVE! on Saturday, November 5th. We'll be continuing the conversation on unlearning and you don't want to miss it. Grab your spot here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/379327949107
In this week's episode, I come at you solo with a lot of thoughts. Thoughts from my time on the road, thoughts on things I've been feeling, and thoughts about Jennifer Lopez's Netflix documentary, Halftime. In this episode I share what has been coming up in all of my conversations talking to women. And we're not talking about surface level conversation, I’m talking, deep, meaningful, soul quenching conversations.
Listen up to why I’m literally obsessed with The Unlearning Lab, my group coaching program for women to break down the stories they have been telling themselves on repeat and how my framework has already helped women change their narrative in the most inspiring of ways. Also, I want to talk about why I decided to get back outside and have real, in-person conversations with women bringing The Unlearning Lab to be an in-person event. And then I break down and talk to you about what Jennifer Lopez has taught me about unlearning after watching her documentary, Halftime. I get into it all.

This week, I open up what I've been up to over the last few weeks embracing my own enoughness. It's been a journey - both a physical and emotional one and it all started back in Sedona. I share what a four-day retreat in the mountains with healing practitioners had me realize about myself and the stories I have been telling myself. I open up about a past memory I had as a child and unpack how deeply impressionable we are as children and how experiences shape us into the adults we are today. I take you through the twists and turns of the last few weeks and offer that in adulthood, we have a chance to heal our wounded inner child and create the safe, secure inner and outer environments our younger selves always wanted. I want us all to stop carrying the wounds from our childhood, whether it's simple or complex trauma. My goal for you listening to this episode is to not feel alone with your past hurts and feelings, and finally give ourselves permission to stop covering them up because you feel like that's what everyone else is doing. Let's heal those wounded parts of ourselves that may have been formed in childhood together.
Let’s face it, many of us are in a disparaging relationship with our bodies. We transpose an innocent comment from a friend into a deposition on our appearance. We beat ourselves up—sometimes literally—every time we gain a few pounds, go on a crash diet, then cheat on that diet, throwing our body into a seesaw of coping strategies to try to force the outcome we feel we should be at. The truth is: our environment influences our body image. We pick up on the body-image culture from seemingly everywhere: school; work comments; friends; parties; television; magazines with size zero models on every page - it's never-ending.
From our earliest days, we hear our physical appearance is critically important in every facet of our life. One off-putting look or perceived slight can send us into crisis mode. If we are not careful, we pass this mindset onto our inner circle and to our children. Now, we know how we got here. The question is, how do we break out of this unhealthy mindset and get not only comfortable with our bodies, but have a healthy relationship to accepting our bodies confidently?
In this powerful conversation with Molly Goodman, a life coach and intuitive mentor, we unpack the unlearning journey as it relates to body image, how toxic diet culture is, and how to release the shame that so many of us have with relationship to our bodies and instead focusing on how to prioritize what makes your body work, feel good and function best over constant thoughts of losing weight and what you see in the mirror.
In this episode of Embracing Enough, I sit down with Molly Goodman, life coach and intuitive mentor. Molly is a Certified Life Coach dedicated to helping women develop intuitive self-trust and heal their body image. She guides clients into the gray area of life so they can abandon perfectionism and diet culture, instead of abandoning themselves. Using a unique combination of coaching, creative self-care techniques, and mindset makeovers, she teaches her clients to love and respect their bodies exactly as they are. It's her mission to help women honor their needs, observe their habits, infuse magic into everyday life, and expand into that next level version of themselves. When she's not helping clients ditch diet culture for good, she love seeing live theatre, watching Schitt's Creek, and drinking too many vanilla oat milk lattes.

In this episode, I open up as to why I had this crazy idea for the next 100 days to document my unlearning journey publicly. I talk about the journey I have been on to birth The Unlearning Lab and what pushed me to peel back the curtain and go even deeper in unpacking the toxic thought patterns that haven't been doing me any favors.
In this solo episode, I talk about the spiritual experience I had in Sedona back in January to navigating all of the self-doubt to then recently reading a book (Rejection Proof) recommended to me that catapulted me into this experiment.
At the time of recording, I am up to Day 6 of the challenge. I'm positive something will shift in my confidence and yours - but I'll let you know in the next 94 days.

This week, I sit down with Life Coach Sid Scott who helps women access their breakthrough season. I met Sid at the EPIC WOMAN conference in Atlanta, Georgia. I started off the episode explaining how I was going through my own breakthrough at the time and am still unpacking what I'm learning from it all (and of course, UNLEARNING). Sid is an ambassador for the EPIC WOMAN Conference and a phenomenal coach - and if you know Sid, you immediately feel this grounded confidence in him. So, when I heard that he works explicitly with women as a coach, and I had to learn more.
Sid Scott is the creator of the CURE coaching framework, which is the process he uses to help women achieve their best breakthroughs. His company, Your Best Breakthrough empowers women to breakthrough physically, emotionally, spiritually AND financially. Having spent 8 years as a language analyst working in counter-intelligence, he uses a tactical yet spiritual approach to guiding women through the work to have them boldly step into the woman who creates all of the outcomes she desires. Sid has gone through physical, spiritual, emotional and financial breakthroughs with the support of the incredible women in his life, and so he aims to pour into who has poured into him.
In this conversation, Sid and I talk about what he finds most common amongst his clients that they are consciously trying to unlearn, and we unpack what he in this season has been working to unlearn himself.

Unlearning is a tricky thing. It’s hard to unlearn ANYTHING that has been so deeply part of your conditioning that you’ve barely noticed it. You don’t even know where your identity begins and the programming you’ve been conditioned to align yourself with ends. And if you’re anything like me, and consciously wanting to unpack how all of this conditioning hasn’t been serving you, it can feel like you are perpetually walking on eggshells.
Walking on eggshells is linked to feeling self-conscious and cautious about what you do and say. It feels like being in a hypervigilant state of awareness about the emotional state of others; and it can manifest as automatically scanning others for cues or behavior in order to avoid confrontation, rejection, conflict or that person’s erratic or explosive responses.
I’m not ashamed to admit it, but I feel like I’ve been walking on eggshells my whole life - afraid to do or say the wrong thing all the time.
In this week's episode, I talk about my relationship to walking on eggshells in virtually every facet of my life and the ways it has held me back. And declare that I no longer want to walk on that shaky ground a second longer.
I hope you enjoy it.

This week, I sit down with Mickaela McNatt from Magnify More to talk about unlearning the mixed messaging we received growing up and what it takes to choose something different. In this conversation, we go all in and explore what it is to FULLY embody your magic... FULLY embody your bigness... FULLY embody the fullness of who you are, whatever that looks like and however that feels true for you.
We hear from Mickaela about her unlearning journey sorting through all of the messages she received about what she should aspire to - being a mom, taking care of the house, be your own boss but don't be too bossy, ask for a raise but don't ask for too much, be successful on your own but not too successful. You get the (dizzying) picture. Mickaela lets us into her story and what she had to consciously choose to trust her own knowing. And it is powerful, trust me!
Mickaela McNatt is a Trainer of Neuro-Linguistic Programming, Master Success Coach and Reiki Master. She’s the founder and head trainer of Magnify More, a coaching and training institute.
As the world is waking up and many are hearing the call to make an impact in the lives of others, Mickaela realized the need for training and education around how to guide ourselves AND our clients through the depths of life-long transformation. Her NLP & Coach Certification program certifies students who feel they are on assignment to raise the frequency of the planet through coaching and healing. The program certifies students in NLP, hypnosis, and a variety of other healing modalities so they can do just this, both for themselves and the clients they serve.
With her signature Release to Rise Method she helps the women she serves release subconscious blocks that have been holding them back, so they can fully embody the essence of their desires with ease, and experience success in all areas of life.
She’s currently living in Dallas, TX as her home base, but spends many months of the year traveling the US with her partner and their sweet pup, Banks, in their sprinter van. She celebrates a life of adventure, impact, and abundance — while supporting dozens of women build the same for themselves.

This week, I sit down with my book proposal coach turned friend, Richelle Fredson to unpack her journey with unlearning perfectionism. It's a topic that all too many of us can relate to and I know you are going to love this conversation with Richelle. In this powerful episode, Richelle and I get into the ways that the seeds of perfectionism are planted early in us as women, how it shows up in every facet of life. With Richelle and I both celebrating our glorious 40s, we reflect on how perfectionism can't take up any more space than it already has in our lives.
Richelle Fredson, book publishing consultant and the “six-figure book deal coach,” knows all the angles of the publishing biz. An industry vet, she spent 15 years at Hay House Inc., most recently as the Director of Publicity and Book Marketing, as well as Acquisitions. She now works with aspiring and existing authors who are looking to expand their business, create an impact, and shift the current dialogue.
Her expertise, paired with her sharp instincts, has helped hundreds of authors create impactful and marketable book concepts and proposals, resulting in millions of dollars in publishing deals with top publishers. Her recent clients include Farnoosh Torabi, Chrissy King, Jannese Torres-Rodriguez, Jen Winston, Dr. Vanessa Marin and more.
Richelle brings a unique gift to the table: she’s been on both sides of the deal and knows what publishers and authors are looking for and how to get it. Through this lens, she guides authors as they anchor their stories and amplify their expertise to make a greater impact.
She’s also the host of the Bound + Determined podcast where she lifts the veil on book publishing through education and interviews.

Have you ever wondered whether men are having their own conversations about confidence, enoughness, and unlearning toxic narratives that they have been raised with? I wondered! And if you were, too then this episode is for you!
This week, I sit down with my two friends, Carson and Eddy, to unpack what they have been consciously working to unlearn around expectations of manhood and masculinity and what's really going on with how their confidence gets tested. We talk intimate partnerships, fatherhood, navigating the workplace and the underbelly of emotions that sometimes men don't always feel like they can fully express.
So, yes, we do talk to MEN here on Embracing Enough. In fact, this conversation made me want to do more of it. We love men, but what's more, we love raw and honest conversation where we get to show up authentically.
Here's to men like Carson and Eddy who are brave enough to share their truth.

In this solo episode, I talk through my current unlearning of the belief that there is something "broken" about me and that I need fixing. A couple of weeks, I got some UNSOLICITED feedback from someone who called me out for being a coach and helping women out on their journey because I was clearly SO broken. Did it hurt when I heard it? Duh. I'm human. But I also didn't need to internalize it as my truth.
I hear from women all the time that they feel like they're broken and what's worse, some feel beyond repair. But I'm here to talk about that it couldn't be further from the truth. There is nothing about you that needs to be fixed. Subscribing to the belief that there is something broken in us or that needs to be fixed keeps us stuck and stagnant; and robs us of our confidence to do the things that really matter to us. Here's a thought: why not try on the idea that you can give yourself massive amounts of self-love, compassion and permission instead of hyper-focusing on the broken parts of you and see what that feels like.
That's what I choose to do - in every moment of every day.
In this episode, I sit down with Dr. Sylvia Kalcinski, a family and marriage therapist and the host of the Dr. Sylvia K podcast. She currently lives in Miami with her husband and son and has made it her mission to support people in finding courage, strength and the right tools to feel better through therapy.
Sylvia and I met during our book proposal group and felt this instant connection. We unpack her own unlearning journey and how she reflects on what unlearning has looked at during different stages of her life. Her unique ability to understanding how overwhelming emotions can feel like they take over and impact our well-being and relationships. She believes that while we can't get rid of our emotions, we can however learn to better manage them and improve stress management. She focuses in mindfulness, dialectical behavior therapy and systemic therapies.
In this conversation, Sylvia lets us into her journey of navigating her own sense of belonging, safety, and connection and what she has had to unlearn in order to interrupt her own thought patterns that have kept her stuck. This is a heart-filled episode that allows us to understand the connection between our underlying beliefs that we hold about ourselves can be connected to the imprint that traumatic experiences can have on us.

This week, I sit down with Carla Marconi and talk about the need to unlearn the outdated belief that we need to hustle and grind it out in order to be successful. After spending 10 years playing it safe and doing what she felt she was “supposed to” as a Marketing and Sales Specialist, she finally took the leap into a life she loves. And now, she is teaching other women how to do the same.
Using her signature Soul Rhythm Business Method—an all-encompassing mind, body, and soul approach— she helps multi-passionate women align their strategy, energy, and action to confidently start and grow sustainable, soul-aligned businesses. Because she believes that we have this one life to live. Why not make the journey one filled with personal growth, transformations, and soul-aligned passion and purpose?
Carla is a business coach and an NLP Master Practitioner and runs Soul Rhythm. In her work, she helps entrepreneurs ditch the overwhelm and align their strategy, energy and actions, so they can run a business that doesn’t run them and finally get the results they want. In this episode, we talk about her journey and relationship to the grind both in working as a top sales associate as well as working for herself - and how the journey to unlearning doing more allowed her to step into a season where she has had the biggest levels of growth ever.
Today, through her business mindset coaching offered through Soul Rhythm, she helps female entrepreneurs master the inner game of running their business, by upgrading their belief systems and business strategy, so they can fire the inner critic and become masterful business women. So much of what helped her step up into the woman she is today was learning to make decisions faster, constantly building her confidence, clearing energetic blocks and rising into her role as a LEADER.
What I loved about this conversation is the internalized story so many women have about the constant need to both hustle and prove; and how we eventually get to a point where we realize that is doesn't really serve our highest good. Carla is all about helping her clients achieve success; but is also really clear about helping women have more fun and create a bigger impact in the process.
Carla is offering her signature program Magnetic Leadership geared for women who are ready to ditch the imposter syndrome, strengthen their confidence and step into the business leader they know they are capable of, so they can tap into their innate charisma and move the needle forward faster in their business and life. You can learn more about it here: https://www.soulrhythmco.com/magneticleadership

This week, I share my thoughts about the inextricable link between validation and belonging. It's no secret that so many women struggle with chasing external validation in everything they can reach for - in the jobs we covet, in the partners we seek out to the friendship circles we gravitate towards. But what I have found is that it has very little to do with craving acceptance and approval and more to do with the fact that for years, we as women have not been encouraged to find acceptance in the place that it actually matters - within ourselves.
One of the most important pieces of advice I've been reminded by is that you have to, first and foremost, remember that you belong to yourself. As Brene Brown shares in her book, Atlas of the Heart, (which I geek out over in this episode by the way) she tells us that our yearning for belonging is so hardwired that we often try to acquire it by any means necessary - including trying to fit in and hustling for approval and acceptance. I find myself saying this over and over to women I coach and am in conversation with - those efforts are in fact hollow substitutes for belonging and they are also the greatest barriers. When we work to fit in and be accepted, our "belonging" is tenuous.
Belonging is scary AF. We want it badly. At times, it can feel damn near close to life or death. Feeling a sense of belonging, of acceptance and of approval is beyond normal; but the risk of not receiving it can feel like a nasty blow to our ego. It makes us question the very essence of our worth.
Our saving grace will come from the very advice the queen herself (Brene Brown) gives in her book. Brene admittedlly is one of my many BFFs in my head and she shares that true belonging doesn’t require you to change who you are; it requires you to be who you are. Because we can feel belonging only if we have the courage to share our most authentic selves with people, our sense of belonging can never be greater than our level of self-acceptance.
Let us keep being brave to remember that we don't have to change who we are, we just have to have the courage to be who we are.

In this week's episode, we sit down with Kristen D. Boice, a licensed marriage and family therapist and host of the Close the Chapter podcast. Based in Indiana, Kristen has spent the last 18 years as a psychotherapist helping people build healthy relationships, make life transitions, navigate grief and deal with the hard stuff life throws at us. She share her journey about what it took to become a therapist after years in a very different career, her own experience with therapy, and what it all has taught her. You are going to love this conversation as it gives us an exclusive look into how Kristen helps others process the past, accept themselves and live more fully (and joyfully) in who they are - because sometimes that's the hardest thing of all to do.
Kristen let us into her story, what she is consciously unlearning, and gives us insight into how she has built her own counseling practice (Pathways to Healing Counseling). What I loved about this conversation is how we dig into the layers of conditions that we all have around who we think we should be versus the people we want to be - and how in the midst of it all it's so easy to lose track. I know you will take so many lessons from this conversation, so grab your notebook!

In this week's episode, we unpack a topic that is so close to the bone for me and for so many of my sisters out there - and that is the need to be liked. I know that it has been the very thing that robs so many of us of the confidence we are building in ourselves because of our desperate need to know that others like us or approve of our decisions. Whether it shows up in continuous efforts to please people or feeling totally anxious when it comes to facing approval, many of us are completely fixated.
I think we can all agree that women are taught from an early age to be pleasing, cheerful, and cute - which is the point where this fixation can get logjammed. And when the default expectation for women’s personalities is sweetness and pep, the world becomes a place where anything but isn't exactly tolerated. What is so deeply problematic about this expectation is that we’ve internalized this belief that legitimate feelings are somehow undesirable. And that we should plaster a fake smile on at anytime they’re hurt or angry or disappointed.
In episode 2 of Season 3, I share one of the earliest memories I have where I could remember my need to be liked forming. You would have thought that should have taught me in that moment that this need to please is for the birds. But no, it fueled it even more. The message in this episode is clear: unfortunately, not everyone will like you. But that’s okay. After all, the only person’s opinion of you that genuinely matters is your own. For those who resonate with this message, it's an encouraging word to stop living your life for other people, and start living it for yourself.

In this first episode of Season 3 of Embracing Enough (yay!), we're talking about the topic that I'm literally obsessed with and that is UNLEARNING.
And I'm so obsessed with it that I've decided to dedicate an entire season of the podcast to unpacking all of the things that we have unlearned and still need to unlearn. Now, when I talk about unlearning, I’m talking about letting go of all of the stories, the expectations, the should’s that we as women are told to uphold. Can we just consider putting it down because that shit is heavy. It’s a burden really.
And what I’ve realized is that the propensity to want to fix things is a result of patriarchal systems that have been planted into women’s minds that have convinced us it is our responsibility to fix things and solve problems because it is what is expected of us.
Truthfully, my obsession with unlearning this year comes from a desire to have deeper, more honest conversations around the burdens we as women all carry and to consider putting it down. To claim the fire that lives within all of us without needing to look at things within ourselves to fix. To unlearn so much of the things we have been taught to believe that ultimately don't serve us in the fullest way. We’re talking unlearning the judgment, the shame, the stories that tell us to keep our suffering a secret, the belief that we have to do it all on our own, and the opinion that everyone else's needs have to come before our own.
This episode I give myself (and YOU!) full permission to let our "stuff" be out in the open and let it be messy. Let's click UNSUBSCRIBE to this toxic narrative that women have been attached to for decades - the one that tells us we have to be perfect and pleasing at all times.

I'm re-releasing this special episode that I recorded from the beaches of Cartagena. I actually recorded this special episode as I walked on the white sands in quiet reflection.
In fact, I recorded the episode on a day that I was having the MOST fun and realizing that my confidence has gotten a serious boost not from working on myself, but allowing myself to experience the fullness of this beautiful, fun, outrageous life I'm living. The key to confidence is having fun; and the more we allow ourselves the permission to step completely into it the more our confidence expands.
The journey to embodying your most confident self means welcoming in all the parts of you; and to welcome in all the parts of you means embracing your full self without apology. I hope you enjoy some moments of reflection as I allowed myself the fullness of this moment on my quiet secluded part of the world as I celebrate my birthday.
In this episode, Dina sits down with fellow coach and friend Andrea Mancuso. Andrea was born, raised and currently resides in Brooklyn. She's a lover of psychology, a mental health advocate and has loved supporting people for as long as she can remember. But through it all, she has had her own share of hurdles to overcome that have all boiled down to her ability to trust herself enough to be vulnerable.
Since launching her coaching practice Intentional Healing and Wellness, Andrea has applied everything she has learned over the years in her journey with personal development. While the last year has been a rollercoaster ride in and of itself, Andrea has chosen to intentionally spend time pushing herself outside of her comfort zone - all in the spirit of vulnerability.
In this conversation, Andrea and Dina talk about everything from our connection to confidence, taking huge leaps to bet on ourselves, trusting the process and opening up about what vulnerability looks like. In this honest conversation between two friends, we learn that you can't get anywhere worth going without trusting yourself.

There are friends. There's family. And then there are friends who become family.
In this episode, I sit down with Janet, Katrina and Roberta - three women I met in the most serendipitous of ways on a recent trip to Cartagena, Colombia.
On a day trip to a private island I went solo to for no other reason then to embrace my own fabulosity, I met four incredible women who just oozed confidence, grace and strength.
We all ended up chatting in the ocean, became fast friends and shared stories. We shared the highs, the lows, the in-between, and the wisdom. We shared what we were working on, what we're reaching for in the new year, and how grateful we are for deep friendship. We all agreed, friendship has been the very thing that has gotten us all through.
Not only did these women help me celebrate my actual birthday in Cartagena, they shared their wisdom of the power of friendship and what it has done for them. We talk about these lessons here in this episode and hear more about their own stories that have formed them into the unstoppable women they are. Getting to know these women was restorative in ways I didn't even know I needed and it showed me the power of deep, meaningful authentic friendship with women. I hope you enjoy this beautiful conversation. Unfortunately, Etienne couldn't join, but she was there in spirit!
Each woman shares their stories and their perspectives on friendship with us today on this episode, "Friends in Unexpected Places."

In this episode, I reflect on the better part of the last year and all that I have made a conscious choice to let go of. Letting go was my intention for 2021 and it was the first time I tried on setting an intention as opposed to a resolution.
Truth be told, I thought that 2021 was going to be different somehow. I began this year with so much hope along with a deep belief that it was going to be a year of new beginnings. 2021 would usher in the year I turned 40, celebrate a year in my business and have some of the most heart-opening inner work that I had ever experienced to date. I felt like I was on the brink of major shifts that were going to have me feeling like I finally hit my stride.
I never felt like I hit a stride, just a constant unearthing of what more I had to let go of and UNLEARN. It turned out that 2021 would require me to take my intention of LETTING GO to a whole new level. It would require me to practice letting go a little more every day. Letting go of everything I thought I was, letting go of my false sense of security, letting go of deep pain and trauma I had been living with for several decades, letting go of what I thought my life should look and feel like, and the biggest one for me – letting go of control.
For years, I was so focused on my future that I was blind to the fact that in order to start something new, I had to make room for new things in my life and let go of things that no longer aligned. I talk about all of the things I let go - some I knew I would have to and others I resisted all the way. In the end, I'm beyond grateful for everything this year taught me and for all that I'm still learning. My hope is for those who listen, they can take some inspiration in taking stock of letting go of the things that no longer serve them.

In this week's episode, Dina sits down with Dr. Kinga Mnich, a social psychologist and executive coach who believes fiercely in the power of people.
Dr. Mnich has navigated living between cultures - from being a Polish refugee living in Germany, to studying in South Africa, to now living in the US. Her global perspective and her bonafide status as a global nomad has afforded her a unique perspective on life. She shares her story of how friends and teachers didn't always understand her, how she felt misunderstood at times and how she learned to trust herself. She shares how she overcame her own negative emotions, changing her mindset and stepping into her authentic power by letting go of the narratives people created for her.
In this frank discussion about creating a life on your terms, Dr. Mnich shares openly about her story and the power of creating a narrative that serves your highest good. She shares with listeners that life is not just about being effective and leaving a dent in the universe. It is also about enjoying the journey and appreciating the moment while building emotional memories that will carry you through uncomfortable times.

In this special (unplanned) episode in honor of Halloween, Dina unpacks the thing that she feels is truly scary (and no, we're not talking ghost stories). We talk about being stuck in the same place or situation for longer than you would like to admit - months, a year, hell, even YEARS! And she chooses to go deep in a topic that she typically shies away from - relationships, and more specifically, moving on.
As women, we may not understand why moving on is scary when we are clearly so not satisfied with where things stand in that relationship. And it's scary to think how comfortable you have gotten with the way things stand. So comfortable that you don’t even realize how tightly you are holding on because of how terrified you are of the uncertainty moving on would bring.
The most frightening part of it all when trying to reconcile in letting go is the uncomfortable truth that along the way, we realize we have gotten used to a certain level of sadness and the pain. Because the pain and the sadness grew to something that you learned to tolerate, it became a part of who you were. And eventually, it became the thing that defined you.
What sparked this idea for this episode is a past trip to Atlanta for a conference called EpicCon hosted by Aprille Franks. Dina shares what embarassing moment she had and recounts what awakened in her as a result.

In this episode, Dina sits down with Marta Tomtas, a Quality of Life Coach who runs her own coaching practice Elevating Wellness Coaching. Marta shares her story of how she learned to fall in love with her body and what it took to get there. She also lets us into what she struggled the most with - people pleasing; and how ultimately she had to learn that the most important person worth pleasing was herself. After years of simply not loving the skin she was in, Marta made a transformational shift in her life by getting serious about her habits, being fiercely present, and her mindset. She knew that if she committed to being the best version of herself, she would be unstoppable.
Now running her own business, Marta is a Quality of Life Coach who specifically helps women get out of people pleasing tendancies and learn to put themselves first by leveling up their mindset and habits 1% each day. She uses her own experiences of transformation and inner work to help women find self love, confidence, and balance in their life and has a huge love of building genuine, deep connections with everyone she comes in contact with.
Marta is currently offering 1:1 coaching through her signature 3 month program: The Level Up Method. And hurry...only a few spots are left! You can find a link in her bio on Instagram @elevatingwellnesscoaching to apply or send her a message (tell her you found her through the podcast) and you can see if you're a good fit!
In this week's episode, Dina sits down with Founder of Date Brazen, Lily Womble, an unconventional dating coach dedicated to helping women build a clear path to the best relationship of their life. Born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama and having moved to New York City where she calls home, Lily has always been deeply committed to supporting women and helping them thrive.
From starting a nonprofit to end sex trafficking in Alabama, to working for an international women's right's organization, she never thought she'd work in the dating world, until during one fateful career change…she became a matchmaker at a national firm. She later realized that the dating world was a way she could help women be well and rise. Because from her own story and from the stories of hundreds of clients, it was clear that dating was a microcosm of every fear, hope, and insecurity that we have in this life.
Lily sits down and shares her story and how she felt navigating different life transitions. She talks to us about being raised around people who measured women's value on whether or not they were married; to her move to New York to pursue her love of musical theatre to starting her own company to falling in love. Lily shares that from the time she could speak, she knew she was sensitive, loud, opinionated, enthusiastic. And subsequently was labeled "too much" by many. And in a world where women are told to be small, take up less space, she always felt like she didn't fit in.
Today, Lily works with women for the sole purpose of supporting them in feeling confident as they are in exactly who they are. She helps other badass women learn how to trust themselves to qualify the right dates and disqualify the wrong ones; how to set boundaries and stick to them.
We talk about the fundamental importance for everyone to create the joyful, courageous, powerful love life they deserve through Lily's proven coaching method, the Brazen Breakthrough, and the transformation of being in community with other badass single women who have your back.
Because at the end of the day - attracting extraordinary love is the bonus. If you loved this episode, be sure to let us know. And to learn more about Lily Womble of Date Brazen, head to www.datebrazen.com and follow her on Instagram @datebrazen

Sponsorships: off for this
As part of my #40to40 countdown, I'm bringing you another one of my lessons that I've learned through my almost 40 years on the planet. The lesson: be grateful for some solitude.
Why are we so scared to be with ourselves. I unpack the real questions and what can be possible when we just get still.
Before the pandemic, I was constantly running. Running to happy hours with friends, teaching multiple Zumba classes a week, running to make sure I had errands done on my lunch hour and being the perfect mix of social and reliable in work and in my personal life. It was exhausting. Plus, it kept me in this perpetual chase that there was always something I needed to be working on, perfecting, doing and fulfilling expectations that I knew others expected of me.
Being through over 18 months of this new normal, its had me dispel this gnawing illusion that I desperately needed something dangling just out of reach in the perpetual future. And by letting that illusion fall away, or what’s more, having me let go of the illusion, has had me make time for decisions that are grounded and realistic.
Let's start by giving ourselves the permission to be with ourselves and realize how much of a good time we are just as we are.

As part of my #40to40 countdown, I'm bringing you another one of my lessons that I've learned through my almost 40 years on the planet. The lesson: nobody ACTUALLY cares about your goals.
The real question we need to be asking more consistently are not how will we achieve our goals, but what goals ACTUALLY matter to us?
I've spent the majority of my life feeling safe and "on track" when I have had goals that I'm working towards. But then, I am left feeling eventually let down once it's been achieved. Why? It's because I've never truly been connected to my larger why.
Whether you're obsessed with goals or not, I think this topic warrants more conversation about what's really motivating us behind getting after these goals.
Here's what I know: setting and achieving goals doesn't make you happier. It just makes you more productive. There is a huge difference between being 'happy' and 'effective'. And people tend to confuse the two.
Let's start giving ourselves the permission to chase the goals that have real meaning to us; not the ones that we tell ourselves we 'should' be chasing.

Let's talk about SEX baby! Wait, what??
If you ask a teen-aged boy what constitutes bad sex, he’s likely to talk about the fact that he wasn’t all that attracted or that he didn’t have an orgasm. If you ask a girl of similar age about bad sex, she’s going to talk about pain, humiliation, or degradation — something that just doesn’t come up with boys. She probably won’t even mention affirmative lack of pleasure, because we’re still too often teaching both boys and girls that female sexual pleasure is just not a priority. Good sex means not being treated badly or not having too much discomfort — at least as far as girls go.
I’m sorry — I’m just not OK with that!
In today's episode, I want to be open and talk to any woman who has felt the need to use sex as a way to feel wanted, desired, loved, or validated. There is zero judgment in this conversation. I’m wanting to talk through this because I don’t think it’s talked about enough, and because I’m literally obsessed with talking about topics that are in some shape or form connected to how enough we do or do not feel, I feel like we had to go there. Come on, I’m about to be 40. It’s time.
I'm by no means a sex expert or a relationship coach. In fact, I typically avoid talking about sex or love at all costs. But something in me has me wanting to open up more about topics that I have tended to shy away from. Not because I'm an expert, but because in approaching 40 and in my #40to40 celebration, I'm embracing the decade of being unapologetic. And that means, I’m no longer willing to shy away from topics that intimidate me. So here it goes...my most vulnerable episode yet.

The relationship a daughter has with her father is a special one. I think we could agree that a father has the potential to influence his daughter's life in a ton of ways - from her self-esteem, to her confidence, to self-image, and ultimately the relationships she forms with a partner. In today's episode, my Dad (Rocco Scippa) aka the Comeback Kid shares his reflections on his fair share of successes and failures. Rocco muses about it's all been worth it (even the lows) and how it's all contributed to what has made him a better person today.
In his brutally honest, unapologetic style, Rocco lets you into his life by sharing what it was like growing up as an Italian immigrant in East Boston, navigating fatherhood, his addiction, and how he climbed to the top of his career as a real estate developer - even when the stakes were against him. The approaches he's taken to facing the highs and the lows of his life have been inspiration for me.
If you take anything from his adorable storytelling style, I hope its a laugh and a nugget of wisdom that you can apply to your life. My dad is an embodiment of the ultimate form of betting on yourself, even when the chips are down and there's few people who believe in you.
Let this episode serve as a reminder to you that sometimes the relationships that form with our parents may not always be easy to understand, but we can learn to appreciate them later in life.

We all have to shake things up from time to time. In this episode, I decided to do something different and just speak from my heart. No script, no research, just me. Recording from my family's home in Massachusetts, I explore what has been my dirty little payoff to staying stuck in certain patterns with my family and how they come back in full FUEGO whenever I come home. Something about this trip has me realizing that it may be time to FINALLY shift from that place where I've been stuck rather than hoping in vain that the change I desire will come about magically and painlessly.
What I realize is that when you've mastered yourself but still come up against internal resistance (because you always do), you're able to acknowledge it, and work through it with trust. What I'm learning is that openness and awareness are at the heart of the process and the mind’s role is to identify and let go of the emotions that can stop you from following their heart’s directives.
Let this episode be a reminder to trust yourself enough to move beyond the patterns that have kept you comfortable and stuck playing small. You may surprise yourself how much these "comfortable" behavior patterns aren't serving you.

Growing up in the Amish culture, Emily always questioned why her family and community lived differently. She always felt a little different growing up, not all that interested in the traditional roles of sewing, cooking and cleaning that Amish girls are taught to do. And yet, she always found herself wondering was there more to life out there? At 17, she found out, taking the decision to leave the culture and everything she had known her entire life. It was the bravest and scariest thing she ever did.
In this episode, Emily and I talk about the mental strength that it took at 17 to question it all, leave the only family and world she knew for uncertainty. She reflects on how her ability to believe in herself when no one else believed in her became the thing she could always rely on. Navigating an abusive marriage, becoming a single mom, putting herself through school, landing a job in the corproate automotive industry were all faced by Emily head on, and she knew she could get through it because of that trust.
Now, having left the corporate world to become a coach, speaker and writer, Emily reflects on how for the first time in her life she's found true happiness and feels like she is living her fullest life on purpose. We talk through her journey of surviving to what she now fully embraces is her THRIVE chapter.
I know you'll love this conversation.

I'm not a fan of uncertainty, but I've had to get real comfortable with the discomfort of not always knowing what is to come. In this episode, I unpack the real reasons why you hate uncertainty - one of the reasons being is because your brain hates uncertainty. Uncertainty equals danger; and when your brain doesn't know what’s around the corner, it can’t keep you out of harm’s way. It always assumes the worst, over-personalizes threats, and jumps to conclusions. (Your brain will do almost anything for the sake of certainty). And you’re hardwired to overestimate threats and underestimate your ability to handle them—all in the name of survival.
Despite your best efforts, things won’t always go as planned. Expectations will go awry, unexpected events will blindside you, and you will experience disappointment and rejection. If uncertainty is unacceptable to you, you only amplify your fear and end up at war with yourself, resisting and arguing with life rather than living it.
Let this episode serve as a reminder to you that you are enough to accept the unknown—no matter what—and use the unpredictable outcomes to thrive fully into the person you were meant to be.

I am a big proponent of forgiving yourself, but I get how much easier it is said than done.
This week's episode unpacks how to get to a place where you can truly accept that things that have happened to you are not your fault; however it is your responsibility to forgive. And forgiveness always begins with yourself.
It can be difficult to stop faulting others for how their faults have impacted our lives, even after we may have moved on from something trauamatic. Forgiveness is all about choice, and at a certain point, we all come to a place where we ask ourselves, what are we choosing?
It’s not being selfish to consciously choose to forgive yourself, to do some inner reflection and learn from experiences. And it’s not selfish to forgive something or someone because the anger and pain is too heavy to bare. That’s the point.
Let this episode serve as a reminder to you that forgiveness is power AND recognize that forgiveness doesn't always look like what we thought it was going to look like.

In this week's episode, I'm unpacking how pain can be the best signal in the world that something needs to shift within you. I unpack how the tendency to lean into overachievement and always needing things to get done can keep us stuck in a vicious cycle of fatigue. I argue that it is this fatigue that keeps us disconnected from what our pain is really here to show us.
I dive into how affirming it can feel to embrace your pain and how to remind yourself that you aren't defined it. I remind you of the power of choice to take empowered action that allows you to celebrate the fullness of who you are without beat-up and judgment - just loving compassion. I invite you to celebrate who you are as a result of the pain and reflect on how it shaped you and even more, prepared you for who you are becoming.
Let this episode serve as a reminder to you that you can be anchored into your power AND make peace with previous versions of you that have been hurt by painful events. If pain is calling, it's time you answer.

In this episode, Dina sits down with Jill Ellyn Riley, one of the authors of Living the Confidence Code (Harper Collins Publishers and a New York Times Best Seller). This heart-felt discussion will give you an inside look at what went into identifying the girls featured in this book and spotlights a few of the many inspiring ways girls around the globe are effecting change. While reflecting on each others' adolescence and what makes up our story, Dina and JillEllyn muse about their love of the power of storytelling. They reflect on how much we learn from the stories of the girls in the book and how we stand in awe of their bravery and resilience. Just like the book illustrates, the conversation illustrates that the best way to understand confidence and learn how to harness its secret powers is to see it in action for yourself. One thing is for sure is that this incredible conversation will have you asking yourself: "What would you like to do once you tap into your confidence?"

In this episode, Dina unpacks her intention for June - being unapologetic in all facets of life. As she reflects on her own tendency to overapologize, she looks into where it comes from, and why it's a seemingly easy habit to fall back on. Through this conversation, she encourages you to recognize where your over-apologizing shows up; because it likely is in some shape or form. The more we recognize, the more we get to consciously work on it. Perhaps it can inspire you to stop apologizing for who are and even more importantly, who you are becoming.
When I started thinking about the Enough Labs series on unpacking motherhood, I was really looking to bring into the conversation a topic that isn't talked about as much - and that’s infertility. I reached out to several people about considering being on the podcast to talk about their experience. But it IS something super personal and not everyone wants to speak on it, and I totally get it. I grappled with even trying to do an episode about such a loaded topic; and then I thought about the courage and authenticity that each of my guests brought to the conversation this month, and I said, the conversation about infertility has to be part of it as well.
The reality is that infertility is terribly common. In fact, one in eight couples (12 percent of women) in the US have trouble getting pregnant. That means, there’s a really good chance that someone you know is struggling with infertility – even if you’re not aware of it. And on the off chance that you've never met anyone who has struggled with infertility - you will in this episode. It's me.
In this episode, I unpack the emotional impact and toll that infertility takes on your self-esteem, on your marriage, and how you reconcile with coming to terms as to the real reasons of wanting a family. I also talk about the sense of grief, loss, and sadness associated with all of the experiences that come with pregnancy and motherhood - basically when all you feel is like you're being iced out of the mommy club. In this honest and brave look, I start to unpack the answer to the elusive question "Am I enough if I don't have a baby?"

This week, Dina sits down with Arivee Vargas, a mom of three and a certified life and high-performance coach for women professionals in fast-paced environments. Arivee and Dina reflect on what it was like growing up Latina in a small suburban town in Massachusetts, what it took to navigate the early days of motherhood while on the partner track in a law firm, and what it has looked like (and what it takes) to step into your calling powerfully.
As a big law lawyer years ago, Arivee lets us into her experience about the long hours and the typical challenges that go with a demanding high-pressure environment. She peeled back the curtain on her own journey where she shared how for years, work was her life and it was also her source for validation and self-worth. As she advanced further in her legal career, there as a little voice that kept asking: "Is this what you really want?" And then she had her son and that voice got louder. She took time to get clear on who she was and she wasn't; and even more, she clearer on what she wanted.
Today, Arivee helps other go-getter women get clear on their own truth and step into the life they really want; while supporting them to shift their mindset to overcome fear and limiting beliefs. For more information about Arivee, head to https://www.ariveevargas.com

In this episode, Dina sits down with new friend and fellow writer Isabelle Fitzgerald about her "unexpected" journey into motherhood. Isabelle hails from New York City and lets us into what it's like to be a mother of three, embarking on an exciting journey as a writer, and what's more - shows us some of the less favorable topics about motherhood (like grief, anger and shame) that few people are courageous enough to talk about. Dina and Isabelle muse about how enoughness shows up in motherhood and how the hardest thing to do is to reconcile perfectionist tendencies. Isabelle has a poetic way to share what her unexpected path looked like and how she continues to show up bravely and unapologetically for all that it offers.
Dina sits down with Dr. Brooke Harris Garad - an education researcher, travel enthusiast, and a friend and co-adventurer of hers that goes back 13 years. Both talk honestly about motherhood in the pandemic, juggling being a full-time academic, and finding intentional ways to explain racial inequality to Brooke's two daughters. The conversation is an opportunity to unpack different parts of motherhood for Brooke and an opportunity to discuss her recently published chapter in a new book titled Mothers, Mothering and COVID-19: Dispatches from the Pandemic. Her chapter, "Walking the Talk: (Counter) Narratives for Pandemic Parenting Young Black Children" offers insight into what the last year has felt like and how her family has been purposeful in the ways they create joy and celebrate excellence.

Life is made up of a series of experiments. And your life is considered a lab - if not the most important of labs. Because we get to experiment witin our human experience. Dina talks about what this idea means for her, how it connects with Enough Labs, and asks what would it feel like if we explored what we seemingly held to be our failures instead as experiments in possibility?
In this raw and vulnerable episode, Dina peels back the curtain and lets you into her reflections on what this new move into her home means for her. In the hours before the movers arrive who will help her to make this huge change, she reflects on what it feels like to finally put roots down – the very thing she's avoided for so long.
Dina sits down on a gorgeous Sunday afternoon with her friend Najiyah to kick off Arab-American Heritage Month celebrated annually in April. In this special episode called Ana kifaya, which means, "I am Enough" in Arabic; Dina and Najiyah swap stories about their adolescence, reminisce about their travels together to Morocco and Egypt, talk about the ways they navigated the workplace in their early 20s, and muse about life's many transitions. The episode comes to you from Najiyah's backyard with their dogs in the background. You'll feel like you've just pulled up a chair to a conversation with two good girlfriends.
In this episode, Dina unpacks her thoughts on the origins of self-trust. She muses about how trusting yourself is not about becoming invulnerable to fear or eradicating self-doubt. Rather, it’s reclaiming the power that we surrender to our fears and choosing each day to show up from a place of faith, rather than fear; of self-trust, rather than self-doubt. It’s about taking the ultimate risk, placing a bet on ourselves that within us is all that’s needed in order to rise to the demands of each moment as it arises.
Consistency is harder when no one else is clapping for you. We all love the applause; but is it necessary to have in order to be motivated? In this episode, we talk about the importance of becoming your own biggest fan. We talk silent fans (because we all have them) and how to learn to cheer for yourself before needing others to cheer for you. The truth is...no one is going to be as obsessed as you are about what you're creating, so you better be unapologetically obsessed with it yourself!
In this episode, Dina goes all in on self-sabotage. We unpack what it looks like, how it shows up, and what can we do about it. Leaning on words of wisdom from RuPaul, Dina muses about how the self-destructive habits that sabotage our chances for success are oftentimes rooted in self-worth and fear. Our sabotaging ways may show up because on some level we don’t feel like we deserve to be successful. Perhaps, we're plagued with feeling inadequate or unworthy. Whatever the reason, our awareness of our self-sabotaging patterns may be the key to shifting the trajectory of our own fate and in turn, blowing our FREAKING mind!
In this special episode, we speak to Ameenah Asante (Love and Intimacy Coach, Dance Professional and Instructor and Reiki Healer) about the power of joy and why it is absolutely necessary to celebrate it. Joy is a powerful emotion and seeing Ameenah embody it so beautifully and unapologetically gives others permission to experience it. Ameenah reminds us that we just need to let that version of ourselves come out and play a little more. (Ameenah Asante can be found on IG at ameenah_loves)
Perfectionism doesn’t lead to results. What it does lead to is fear, anxiety and stress. In this episode, we unpack perfectionism for what it truly is - a defense mechanism that is more about seeking external approval than it is about doing your own best work and learning and growing in the process. Dina unpacks her experience and ties in the research that supports that the search for external validation wrapped up in a perfectionist mindset will NEVER be enough. Why not let go, embrace the messy, and have fun in the growing and learning?
In this episode, Dina unpacks the difference between trusting your intuition and making decisions based in your scared ego. She looks closer at what it takes to access that special kind of stillness to quiet the noise and step into your intuition. Understanding that it takes time to learn to trust your intution, once you get there, it's a game changer.
It's easy to get in a rut. Maybe you have goals but for some reason, you are not reaching for them. Maybe self-judgment is causing you to lower your expectations, or low self-worth is preventing you from making positive changes. Whatever the reason, no one likes to feel STUCK. Feeling stuck can go beyond how you're feeling...it can actually paralyze you in worry, leave you afraid to make a decision or change something in your life. In this episode, we talk about the reasons that tend to keep us stuck and how we wait for external change to happen. But change doesn't happen to us, it comes from within us.
Hiding...we all do it to a certain degree. But why is this common problem something that so many of us subscribe to? The truth is that we all need to be seen. It’s part of what makes us human. When we don’t allow ourselves to be seen, we diminish our importance in this world. We undervalue ourselves. We hold ourselves back from greatness. We stifle our contributions. And it just doesn’t feel good. In this episode, Dina explores the reasons why we hide, what we are so afraid of, and what we should consider choosing instead.
Resolutions can be broken. That's why this year I am focused on an intention that I want to lean on to keep me grounded. In this first episode of Season 2 of Embracing Enough, I unpack why I have chosen my intention for 2021: Letting Go. I unpack why I am choosing to ditch overwhelm and instead let go, have fun, and be more curious about what is unfolding.
On this final episode of Season 1 of Embracing Enough, Dina talks with her sister, Maria and her brother, Angelo about the messages they received as children and how it impacted their journey to feeling enough. From childhood memories to talking about hope for Angelo's daughter Sophia, the Scippa trio come together in laughter and reflection. Join in for this special episode where three siblings pour into each other and reflect on how despite all of the confusing messages received along the way, they have always been able to come together to create joy with one another.
It’s about time we kicked heteronormativity to the curb! Never heard of the term before? It’s the idea that binary gender identity and heterosexual orientation (meaning, there are only two sexual orientations and genders) are the norm. In this episode, we discuss with Kayani and Chett what their experiences have been when your identity doesn't align with heteronormativity.
In this honest and brave discussion, we unpack the pressure of having to explain yourself - things like who you are attracted to, how you identify, and other insensitive, inappropriate questions. Certainly, there are a lot of labels. For many people, they are a way of identifying themselves and discovering their identities; while others choose to avoid labels altogether. Our conversation helps us uncover that no matter how you identify, there is nothing to prove when you completely accept the fullness and honesty of who you are at your core.
Intimacy is a quality we normally associate with enduring relationships. However, in order to have these types of relationships in our own lives, we need to experience true closeness not only with another person, but with ourselves. In this episode, we untangle how worthiness, understanding, grace, and sometimes forgiveness, can help us create the intimacy we want in our relationships. Buckle up for a powerful discussion where we unpack what intimacy allows for from Tamara Lynn and Leslie Buttafly Soul Taylor - two seasoned facilitators and trainers who specialize in transformational coaching with an incredible organization, Momentum Education. They share their insight on the intimacy we create for ourselves, in our relationships, and what that means for the connection we cultivate in this world.
We all feel the pressure to prove ourselves, but when is enough ENOUGH? In this episode, Dina will discuss her journey about the never-ending search for validation in the workplace. She reflects on how no matter how high she jumped, the only validation that mattered in the end was her own. In a switch up of the usual Ask Me Anything episode, Dina chooses to share three strategies that you can employ today to embrace the body you are in. She also shares why while the conversation on body image has to stay top of mind, we also need to get beyond it because the real work lies ahead.
Boudoir? (Gasp...I could never) But why not? Why do we need an excuse to celebrate ourselves? We get up close and personal with DC-based boudoir photographer, Julie Socher (IG: boudoirbyjuliesocher) about what boudoir photography is and isn't; how empowering it truly can be, and how beautiful images are captured given its vulnerable form of imagery. We debunk the myths and explore how boudoir photography not only offers a way to explore one's sensuality; but how it also offers the possibility to embrace one's very essence through a powerful journey of self-love and acceptance. Julie reads us in why she chose boudoir (and how boudoir really chose her) and the profound effect this experience has on a woman’s self-worth.
In a candid discussion with wellness coaches, Erica Robertiello and Lauren Bradley, we explore their experiences coaching women on their journey to stop chasing fullness and instead, to start feeling. These powerhouse women will talk what nourishment really looks like and what the chase to feeling full might be masking.
In this episode, Dina unpacks her thoughts on our relationship to our bodies and how it's so much more than what we see in the mirror. How we see ourselves on the outside is just one part of the story; but for so many, it represents a huge part of what influences the stories we tell ourselves. It high time to we get revolutionary about this conversation around body image and reject the messages that tell us our bodies are unacceptable and need constant improvement. Dina explores her own battle with what (and who) she saw in the mirror, a decision that changed her life, and discusses what she is able to see today.
Embracing Enough answers your questions! At the end of this four-episode segment, Dina responds to the burning questions listeners have on the segment that explored issues facing adolescent girls. Questions like is preschool too early to tell girls they are enough? Or what would you go back and tell your younger self? And what are your dreams for Enough Labs? We get into these questions and so many others!
For a complex set of reasons, most of what is known about adolescent girls focuses on the problems they face. The fact that many adolescent girls are showing remarkable strength, resiliency, and "hardiness" during the stressful time of adolescence needs to be explored. In this episode, Embracing Enough links up with two local educators - Sherilyn and Trauvello - from the DC/MD/VA area to get their take on resiliency amongst girls. We talk current day risks and stresses that need to be understood as defining factors in adolescence. Sherilyn and Trauvello not only talk about their perspectives as educators, but we also muse about their own story, how they grew up naturally smart and explore how that influenced their respective journeys of being enough.
In a frank discussion about colorism and its impact on girls' self-esteem, Dina talks with Nashville-borne/DC-transplant Kellye who opens up about her journey with how she saw herself in her skin. Kellye shares her story around what it took for her to fall in love with her skin and the battle it took to get there. Her message to young girls: we are all beautiful – from head to toe.
In this episode, we will hear from two girls on their perspectives on adolescence - the ups and the downs, the challenges and the hopes. Ava and Bella, both 13, shed light on how they are navigating the tricky waters of adolescence and how despite there being tough moments, they are THRIVING! The conversation explores their own story, and how what they are telling themselves influences how they show up in the world. What emerges from this conversation is an exploration of how Ava and Bella are continuing to be bold in how they are writing their own story for themselves.
Dina reflects on her own journey as a teenager, the struggle to belong and feeling enough. She muses about everything from her failed attempt as a budding gymnast to trying to find a way to tame the frizzy curls - and everything in between. This episode explores the challenges Dina recalls from her childhood into early adolescence, and reflects how it has given her a deeper appreciation of how girls find themselves on their journey to embracing the belief that they are ENOUGH.
Join empowerment coach, self-love advocate, and unwavering feminist Dina Scippa facilitate meaningful conversation with women and girls as they unpack their stories, share ideas, and reflect on the collective experience around what it takes to embrace the belief that we are enough. Embracing Enough is a podcast that celebrates women and girls and their stories, exactly where they are; encouraging all us that we do not have to strive to become more worthy, more valid, more acceptable, or more loved. We are already are all of those things - we just need to embrace it.
