I recently got an email from mothers Marsha and Rachelle. They are mothers who lost their daughter Meryl to suicide in April 2020. She was a gay teenager who was bullied for being out, loud and proud. Marsha and Rachelle are strong, kind, loving, and advocating for teen suicide prevention, awareness and overall mental health.

Kaeleigh Taylor comes to us from Northern Kentucky University where she is in a class called Forbidden History. Her professor pulled a pro move and added a philanthropy component to the class for students to fulfill. So, Kaeleigh and her team decided to raise money for GLSEN, the Gay Lesbian & Straight Education Network. As a queer woman herself Kaeleigh was involved with GLSEN in high school and wanted to support. Christian is a local physician and passionate advocate for geriatric care and LGBTQ communities. In fact he and is husband Cody started the Giving Voice Foundation to specifically support and build community for the geriatric community and especially those living with and caring for Alzheimer's and dementia. Today we get the full story and talk about their upcoming event, Mimosas for Memories.

I met Stacy Sims in the pool, on our synchronized swim team a few years back- and never really got to know he. I knew she did a lot of really great mindful practice work, but I didn't know what exactly. I met this guy at a party and knew immediately I needed to hear his whole story. Vernon Jackson is an author, writer, poet, barber, and all around excellent man. His book is about honest relationships and how to foster connection in your life, two things he has pretty much mastered. Ok here are the results from my ZOE journey : Blood sugar control was GOOD scored a 58. My blood fat control was POOR at 34 and my gut microbiome score is POOR at 17. Yikes, time to clean it up. Dr. Tim Spector goes over my results with me- which it turs out aren't the worst but leave some room for improvement. And after receiving these results I have changed the way I eat and honesty, my body has never worked better, I'm following the plan and I feel fantastic. Jerron is a legend in the making as he is fluent in the fiddle, banjo, harmonica, piano, guitar, ukuele, and the bones babe- not to mention a huge smile exuding joy so much love and a lotta great stories. He is a guy I was excited to see multiple times over the weekend. He knows no stranger and ain't got nothin but love, my kinda soul. Me and Sugar Harp had this crazy convo on my phone in the likeness of Jerron Blind Boy Paxton and Fred Thomas- a guy who played in the James Brown band for over 30 years. So this whole experience I'm about to share with you is really special to my heart. We have 3 episodes coming up that I got to record while at the Telluride Blues and Brews Festival 2021 last month. And ya'll know I used to live in Telluride Colorado and find it's where my soul is most at home. So I was over joyed when I got to collide my new life here in Cincy with Q102 and my former life in Colorado at the Festival, by recording some rad podcasts and meeting some legendary genre-shapers of our time. First here is Mitch Woods, he is a rock-a-boogie pianist who brings the freakin' heat wherever he goes. I have no idea how old this man is but I gotta tell ya, he has the energy of a 23yr old who just fell in love for the first time. The night before Easter Sunday 2021 Cincy native Emily Henkel and her boyfriend Alex Lofgren an Army Veteran and plant lover, went hiking in Death Valley National Park in California for one night. The following Friday Emily was airlifted to safety after being trapped on a desolate mountain cliffside after a 70' fall with a broken ankle and alone. This is the story of her triumphant quest for survival among our country's harshest conditions. Craig Russell is the man behind the team that is The English Contractor and friend of mine. He says he likes to tell stories through he and his teams' work remodeling homes and they are quite good at it. In fact, among their dozens of awards - this year they have been ranked in The Top 500 Remodelers - nation wide - on top of a 5 year running "Contractor of the Year" award from the prestigious NARI. All in all, Craig is a character- he even has his own TV show we are all hoping gets picked up for a second season! This man has set world records in ultra running. He holds the 8th fastest trail time for the Appalachian Trail, which he accomplished in 2018. He runs to and from work everyday as a teacher at The School for Creative and Performing Arts here in Cincinnati Ohio. A documentary about his time on the Appalachian Trail came out this year and all the while, he rarely gets hurt and is never seen with out a smile on his face. This time Natalie and Harvey talk mental strength, endurance, and grace. Oh, and he just represented Team USA in the International Association of Ultrarunners (IAU) 24 Hour World Championship in Albi, France this past October for his 5th time! Which WE WON!!!
