When God invent crayon, first Caveman drew giant wishful super penis on the cave wall, when man invent cinema, porno was first film he filmed, when camera invented man took picture of Punnany, in Jamaica the Cocksman quietly ruled from the moment music was recorded in the studios of a hot and sweaty Kingston… tunes like Big Boy and Teacher & Rough Rider back in Mento days, tune like Barbwire later on, tune like Penis Too Sweet inna Dancehall days even later… the ladies joined in with tune like Lady Saw and Spragga Benz’s ‘Backshot’.
You can only ignore Slackness for just so long and I have reached my time limit. you can only Edge for just so long… !
Be aware this show is X-Rated no punches pulled.
Break out the musical Lubrication.. and get ready for some Aural Massage,… Happy Ending A Come… ‘nuff vibes ;-)
Well, Putin is still murdering Ukrainians in the name of a warped concept of ‘Freedom’; America is still refusing to engage with gun control at the detriment of Children’s lives, in the name of a warped concept of ‘Freedom’, and we’re all still running on the Hamster Wheel of Capitalist Doctrine in the midst of a warped concept of ‘Freedom’. So a little light at the end of the dark tunnel, some hopefully decent music for a little corner of humanity where decent people also reside.. play that tune there sah! Because when music hits you feel no pain. Close your eyes for a few moments of Freedom, Dance to Freedom, break the chains of mental slavery.
Bam Salute, to 21 Girls (although if you look at the reverse of the cover, there are only 20 ladies present it has to be said!), Heavy Weight Barrington Levy, the ‘Mellow Canary’, Albert Malawi’s stalwart tune of Shaka’s Rocking it super Sound System, and Johnny Ringo kicking us off, on a proper Reggae Extrava~Ganjafied journey through the sonic soul of the Land of Springs Reverb . . Boom, Haul Up, Wheeeeeel, re-lick, rewind, come again selectman. Lickshot…… shot like this could never miss…..
STRAIGHT TO PUTIN HEAD, THE MAN HAVE THE EVIL AND HYPOCRISY TO QUOTE SCRIPTURE, TO QUOTE THE BIBLE IN SUPPORT OF THE DEVIL, BEWARE THEM MAN WHO WEARS THE CLOTHES OF A PRIEST BUT HAS THE HEART OF BLACK PETER. HEX PON ALL FACISTS, WHATEVER BRAND THEY SELL THEM SELF UNDER..
That’s All Volken Grill.
Some super rare Mento, Calypso and a dash of classic 50s Rhythm and Blues and Jump Blues, with the idea of reflecting the vibes on islands of the Carib in the mid to late 50s. In the main the R&B is Jamaican pressed, on labels like Tewari’s Down Beat, just to keep it in line with the Flava.. and I’ve included one Cricket Calypso, which frankly considering the number of them, you just have to do…
I ain’t gonna talk on this show, to be honest, if you’re interested in these tunes, you can find out about them with some research, or by checking out the excellent compilations by Honest Jon’s Records of Trini Calypso. it’s niche, but we like it.

Lee Scratch Perry passed away a short while ago and rather than add to the plethora of tributes by so many much better qualified than I to honour him, I held off until now, when I felt I could no longer delay my addition to celebrating the incredible creativity of Jamaica’s most exotic producer and performer. There is something about his utilisation of his own life as an ongoing artistic installation of Words, Sounds and Power that became a major reason for my interest in Jamaican CULTURE. This show is offered as truly as one ever could be to a LEGEND.
The following is not a comprehensive look at his music, from early productions beloved by those proponents of ‘Skinhead Reggae’ to the later Reverb washed mystical meanderings on U-Sound records; instead it’s some of my favourite Perry productions, mainly it has to be said from the era of his Black Art outpourings. You could collect his music for decades and still only be part the way to lifting the surface on his musical output, I’m no expert, but I know what I like!

Photographer one of my favourite labels of the Dancehall era, here exhibited alongside two other labels/production houses that I like very much to give you some of the vibes of an 80s - early 90s Dance. Artists like Early B, Josie Wales, Carl Meeks, Sugar Minott, Little John, Peter Metro, Michael Palmer…. Wheel…
Hope you’re on a level.. and enjoy.

There’s a lot of Babylonian business going on right here & right now funk soul brothers and sisters! Royal Ascot, thousands attend, Notting Hill Carnival not being allowed to happen? The streets are filled with football fans, the parks are filled with football fans during the Euros, throwing spit contaminated beer in the air all over each other. I didn’t really believe it, but I do now believe we are being hustled, and control is being exerted on us by BABYLONIAN forces for bullshit… do your part in protest by listening to this entirely ineffective reggae show with a smattering of Babylonian themed protest, and mash down music.
You can listen to this show … or get out and about and throw another statue of some sick slaving prick into the sea… your choice.
Nuff..
Play it loud….

When the music hits you feel no pain, and for a chaser tek set pon the dub wise, and the deejay, nothing expresses Jamaican musical culture as well as the 12” discomix. 12 inches of pure musical pleasure.
The first outing of 12” Disco Dynamite was very successful and so, here’s another edition, chock full of nutty clusters of musical happiness.

The 5th Archive Show, and back by popular demand, House of Reggae and Bigmikeydread Reggae Radio. A number of listeners who can recall the BMD RR and HOR shenanigans have been requesting that these shows are re-release, so here is the first for you. Not necessarily the first show we did together, but one of the earlier ones for sure. Enjoy.
The BMD Archive - Part one of an Interview recorded with Reggae researcher, writer, collector, compiler Steve Barrow who worked for Trojan, the label he ran Blood and Fire, Soul Jazz, and countless others. Steve has also been involved in Reggae artist interview projects and co wrote the Rough Guide To Reggae.
This is part two of the interview conducted in his own London home in the mid to late 2000s. Steve travelled with and hosted Bunny Lee, Glen Brown and Jah Stitch, Deejayed with Ranking Joe and many others and was present from the moment Jamaican music appeared in early 60s UK, running many record shops and being at the centre of the Jamaican music scene (and many others) in London England throughout.

My personal belief is that there have been two eras of Jamaican music where above all energy has ruled the choices made, the sounds created and the vibes forthcoming, Ska and Ragga/Dancehall of the late 80s/early 90s. To me, Jackie Opel is full of the same energy and force as Cutty Ranks and it’s why Ska remains a firm favourite of mine ..

24 Bigmikeydread Reggae Radio - The Gorgon - A Tribute to Bunny Lee
Bunny Lee passed away on the 6th October this year of 2020. This show is offered in respect of I believe the greatest of all the Jamaican record producers.
Not only did he virtually single handedly define the ‘Skinhead’ era of Early Reggae but he excelled in the era of the Golden age of Roots Reggae, a mission seemingly past the capabilities of Coxsone Dodd and Duke Reid, who only re-packed and re-dubbed their earlier output for a new era, fantastic though it was, while Lee produced fresh rhythms and entirely new music.
Not only did he encourage the creativity of the greatest of house bands, but he employed the early creative talents of King Tubby, a genre defining artist (in the true meaning of the word) himself. He produced one of the first tunes to be called ‘Reggae’ Bangarang by Max Romeo and Lester Sterling.. he truly was ‘The Gorgon’ a Monster of Music.
With thanks to Ken Jones aka Charlie Reggae for the Unity and Gas Singles. Charlie passed away many years ago, but was my original Reggae music mentor.

GOD BLESS BUNNY LEE
The fathoms you plunder the more you get, the more you realise. The harder they drop, the deeper they fall on the wheels of steel… the more you go back to olde ways, to the fathomless mystifying sound of the Brentford Road Posse the greater the epiphany. Coxsone was a Wizard of Time and Space. Foundations isn’t even the works, foundation stone, head corner stone, is just the first building block, but the house of Reggae is built upon and within the Earth and the soil, and the beating heart and lungs of that earth . . . Was Studio One.
Here is a selection to cease your objection to any other direction of Argue-ment, Record money well spent… forward with the rhythm of life. Run it . . . .
p.s I’m sure that Lone Ranger says ‘Mi Friend Seth Blatter’ on Now the Gate Fly..!

In these times of Future Past, where we are locked down, frozen moving forwards, or backwards, in stasis and wondering what will happen to us, I offer unto thee, in These Times Of Tribulation a selection of fine Reggae music for Lockdown Generation. So, place a virtual needle on the Record, step back, admire your surroundings, turn up the volume, adjust the bass. And, get ready to dance.

Here are your tunes:
So in these odd days, when we are being strongly reminded of our mortality, there is something, at least for me, comforting in listening to my old 78 records. I haven’t wanted to listen to much music since this all started, and today, when I finally switched on the Hi-Fi all I wanted to do was play some Crackly Old 78s. They remind me of home, even though I don’t know what or where home is anymore.
I’ve tried to mix a flavour of what I like, moody Mambo, Rhythm and Blues in it’s original sense, funky old stuff. Even a Cab Calloway weed smokers anthem, yes they had jazz fags in the 30s and 40s, you weren’t the first, your Great Grandparents weren’t even the first!
They’re comforting, like food you’ve always loved. That’s why I haven’t played Reggae for this show, I almost don’t want to spoil ‘the good vibes’, and there’s something natural for me, playing some old tunes. If you don’t normally listen to this kind of thing, I urge you to give it a try. I knows you’se gonna likes it.. Daddy O.
See you all on the other side when we have the party! In the meantime, perhaps these tunes will help you boogie a little at home.
A Collection of Tunes that could have got played, and are now... - Dedicated to Will, Ferdinand, Keith, Roy Hanney and Crew.

Anyone who loves Reggae will love the extended mixes that came with the invention of the 12” single, built for remixes and versioning and with the deeper and wider grooves for a heavier BASS they are an ideal way to showcase riddims, the song, the deejay cut and the dub. Here are some of my favourites, without chat, (we chatted so much on the last show), I hope you like the tuneage as much as I do; the show includes the Shaka show stopper Jahovia, an excursion into dub versioning that should get even the most jaded of palates salivating. Jonnie Clarke’s Babylon with it’s biting guitar lick and massive dub is another must.
