Welcome to another episode of our reviews podcast.
In this episode, Marx and Ian chew the fat on three of the biggest science fiction and fantasy franchises out there.
We kick-off with a discussion about the recent series of Doctor Who give our thoughts on the season finale and talk about the good and the bad. The good is the fact that they managed to get Gabriel Woolf to once again provide his voice for the role of Sutekh.
Also up for discussion is the series finale of Star Trek: Discovery. Due to the fact that we are quite late with this discussion. We sort of have a look at the series as a whole and talk about how it evolved from what was a bumpy start. Ian also comments on the fact that the show seemed to be trying to have as many endings as The Lord of The Rings trilogy.
So, is The Acolyte the death of the Star Wars franchise? That is a question that many in the fan base have been asking or in some cases predicting. So Marx and I take up the challenge and give our view on the topic.
And finally, Marx updates us about Dark Matter and we close out with a brief preview of what we’ll be discussing in the next episode.

Welcome to another episode of SFP-NOW in which Marx and Ian discuss their pick of genre television shows and the occasional movies.
For this episode, Marx provides his final thoughts on the first season of Disney's animated X-Men 97 series, which pretty much picked the story up from where it left off when the original X-Men series ended.
Also discussed is the new Dark Matter series on Apple TV, which is another mystery box-style series that involves alternate universes and lots of hightened drama.
To close out this episode. Ian gives his reviews and thoughts on GHOSTBUSTERS: FROZEN EMPIRE and GODZILLA X KONG: THE NEW EMPIRE. Given that both films mention an Ice Age and have the words Empire in them. We ponder the question of whether Hollywood is trying to forewarn us about a new ICE AGE and a pending FROZEN EMPIRE.

Welcome to another episode of the SFP-NOW and a change of Format as they guys look at putting out two shows every couple of weeks instead of one every month.
For this episode, Ian and Marx discuss Doctor Who and Star Trek: Discovery and we talk briefly about the renewal of a certain Netflix series.
We start with our thoughts about the opening two episodes of the newly rebooted Doctor Who. Marx and I agree that the silliness of ‘Space Babies’ was fun, but we felt that ‘The Devil's Chord’ was the strongest of the two episodes.
When it comes to Star Trek: Discovery we both agree that this series has probably been the strongest and it is in part thanks to the writers lending from a previous Star Trek story. However, we both still feel that the single story over one season model is perhaps not the right model for Star Trek.
Finally, Ian shares his thoughts and goes Ape about ‘Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’ and somehow manages to do so without giving out to many spoilers.
Welcome to the April Edition of the SFP-NOW TV Reviews Show.
In this episode Marx, Jeff, and Ian boldly go through over a month's worth of TV shows as we sift through some of the highs and lows of the month.
We kick-off with our final thoughts on the Netflix series Avatar: The Last Airbender as we all chat about the final episode and rave about the stunning visual FX and fantastic acting performances.
The tone changes dramatically as Jeff, Marx, and Ian give their first impressions of Amazon's new series Fallout, which is based on the video game series of the same name. We all comment about the show's visuals as well as the satirical humor of the show and we’ll no doubt revisit the series next month once we have all had a chance to watch it all.
Having survived the nuclear apocalypse Marx and Ian leave jeff behind to negotiate with The Ghoul while we discuss the new season of Star Trek: Discovery and chat about how the most controversial Star Trek show is using the classic TNG episode The Chase as a basis for its final season. No doubt we’ll be beaming back next month with more thoughts on the show.
Once Ian and Marx have discussed Star Trek: Disco to death. Jeff and Ian commiserate with each other about their disappointment about the cancelation of Quantum Leap.

Welcome to another episode of the SFP-NOW TV Reviews Show.
This month Ian, Marx and Jeff get their swashbuckling shoes on as they discuss a shedload of new shows that have launched on various platforms that cover the first two months of the year.
We kick off the show with my thoughts on the new season of Star Wars: The Bad Batch and how the third season is really leaning into the cloning story, which has fed through to The Mandalorian.
The second show we look at is the new Netflix take on The Last Airbender. Ian and Marx discuss their enjoyment of the show and like the fact that it has good representation for Asian and Indiginus peoples. Where Jeff, who also liked the show expresses his concerns that it maybe a little bit to much like the original animated series that the show is based on.
Other shows that get discussed include True Detective and Quantum Leap, which we will revisit in another show so that Jeff and I can discuss the finale. Also discussed is the latest take on Zorro in which Jeff gives myself and Marx a really strong review for the series.
We wrap things up with a discussion about how pretty much all of us are really cheesed off about the change in direction and storyline that has happened for the second season of Halo.

Welcome to our first episode of 2024 as we take a look back at some of the highlights of 2023.
2023 didn’t get off to the greatest of starts for Ian as he wound up in Hospital for about 10 days with a case of Double pneumonia and a Blood Clot on one of his lungs. So suffice it to say he had to rethink a few things, which included scifipulse.net and the podcast.
So after some thought and a chat with Marx Pyle. Ian decided to roll many of the TV reviews that used to feature on the website into a monthly podcast format. Which is how this show was born. And after some time of having him on as a guest we decided to bring our friend Jeff Burns in so as to hopefully give you all a good mixture of views, which saw us have some interesting discussions about various Star Trek episodes as Jeff’s view is often a little different to ours, which we all see as a good thing.
So we kick this show off with our review of the Doctor Who specials and the Christmas Day episode ‘The Church on Ruby Road’. Instead of reviewing each episode. We figured we’d just do an aggregate score for all the episodes.
After are time travel escapades with The Doctor. We take a look at the best of 2023. To do this we created three categories. Best New TV Show, Best Returning TV Show, and Best Movie. To make things interesting we each picked our best for each category as well as two honourable mentions a piece. I think you’ll be surprised by some of our choices. But maybe not all that surprised by some of our other choices.
Shows that get mentioned include The Ark, Superman & Lois, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, Star Trek: Picard and more. So tune in to find out who picked what.
Welcome to our last episode of 2023. Recorded on the 1st of December. Ian, Marx, and Jeff discuss their continued enjoyment of Baldurs Gate 3 before getting into the TV reviews.
On the television front. We start the episode with our thoughts on the new Apple Plus series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, which is a tie-in series to the 2014 Godzilla movie and dives into the origins of the mysterious corporation Monarch. Of course, this is a monster show so we use sound effects to rate it.
Then Ian quickly gives a plug for 'For All Mankind', which is the series that persuaded him to part with his money and sub to Apple Plus. This show is a fantastic alternate history of The US and Russian Space programs and asks a lot of great "What if" type of questions.
And finally to wrap up our thoughts on Apple Plus TV shows. Jeff and Marx discuss the mystery box series Silo, which is set in a dystopian future where humanity lives in a Silo, which has 144 levels.
Next up is The Marvels. Marx gives his thoughts on the movie but feels the film got a bit of a raw deal because we have had actors and writers strike and the film seems to have gained a lot of hate from certain parts of the fanbase that considers the movie to be too woke. Either way, Marx enjoyed the film and gave a few great thoughts on it.
After our discussion about The Marvels and the Marvel and DC movies. We move on to The Invincibles where Marx gives us a fairly well-rounded review of the second series thus far.
Our thoughts on the Doctor Who specials and the new Doctor is a topic we have held over for our first show of 2024, which will also feature our best and worst picks of 2023.

After what has been a long break. We're back with a slightly longer episode to cover as much as we can.
In this episode, Ian, Jeff, and Marx return with reviews of newer shows like Netflix's Bodies and Amazon Gen V & Upload. But also give their thoughts on shows that have finished their first seasons like Ahsoka & One Piece.
Added to all of that. We also talk a little about Baldurs Gate 3, which is a game that we have all been playing when not recording podcasts. So tune in for our thoughts on that and a great many things. As we get through a lot of stuff in this episode.
Welcome to another exciting episode of the SFP-NOW reviews show. Having returned from their epic weekend at Dragon Con. Marx and Jeff have a fair bit to share about their weekend of panels as well as good news about their book sales.
As far as TV reviews go. We take a less is more approach this week as we discuss Ahsoka, which continues the adventures of the popular character from Star Wars: Clone Wars and Rebels. In fact Ian says that it might as well be called Rebels season 5 because it uses many of the popular characters from that series and kind of picks up from where that series left off.
We also take a rather critical look at The Wheel of Time, which once again suffers from some rather iffy pacing when it comes to unraveling the story.
And finally. Marx and Jeff sing loudly about the new Netflix drama One Piece, which is a feature adaptation of the popular long-running anime and manga series created by Eiichiro Oda. This show follows the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy and his pirate crew as they search for the ultimate treasure known as "One Piece" in a vast and colorful world filled with pirates, marines, and powerful devil fruit users.
Welcome to a somewhat belated episode of the SFP-NOW reviews show. After what has been a little break. Marx, Jeff and Ian return to talk about a host of shows as well an epic chat that goes over the final four episodes of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds in which Ian and Marx hold a slightly different view point to Jeff.
We kick things off by catching up on what everyone has been up to before diving into the reviews. First up Jeff talks about Twisted Metal, which he claims is one of the funniest science fiction shows to come out in awhile. Marx having not seen the whole series largely agrees with this assessment.
We move things quickly along as Ian tries his best to give as spoiler free review of Babylon 5: The Road Home as possible, but adds that the film has inspired him to re-watch the original series through again.
Before getting onto Star Trek. Ian briefly talks about Apple TV's adaptation of Foundation and says while it is not for everyone. It does do a pretty good job of adapting something that is difficult to do given the epic told in the books.
To finish off the show. The guys engage in a Star Trek: Strange New Worlds chat that takes up at least 45 minutes. During this chat there is a spirited debate about the morality of a certain episode between Ian, Marx and Jeff who do not share the same perspective.

Welcome to another episode of the SFP-NOW reviews show. This episode sees us talk about a number of TV shows and movies.
We kick off the show with our review of Indiana Jones and The Dial of Destiny and then move on to the new season of Almost Paradise, which dropped last weekend on Amazon's Freevee channel. The show, which stars Christian Kane as retired DEA Agent Alex Walker is a rare blend of action and comedy and is somewhat of a throwback to TV shows that populated the networks throughout the 1980s and 90s. Jeff thinks this show is Christian Kane's best work to date. Whereas Ian loves the blend of action and comedy.
Next up Marx talks about Silo now that he has viewed most of the show and expresses some concern as to were the show might go in its second season now that one of the key mysteries has been revealed.
Next up Jeff gives us his thoughts on Mission: Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One and enjoyed how the film uses A.I. as the main part of its story. He was particularly impressed with Hayley Atwell in her role as the thief Grace who gets in over her head with a certain group of IMF agents.
We round out the show by talking about Heels, which is a show about a group of professional wrestlers as they struggle to keep their franchise going. Heels stars Stephen Amell who is best known for his role of Oliver Queen in CW's Arrow.
And finishing off. Jeff, Marx, and Ian give their thoughts on Star Trek: Strange New Worlds episodes Charades and Lost In Translation.

Welcome to another episode of the SFP-Reviews show in which talk all things genre television and movies.
For this episode Ian, Marx, and Jeff Burns give their thoughts on the new Flash movie, which sees Ezra Miller take on the role of the Scarlet Speedster. To say that we were all pleasantly surprised by this film would be an understatement as we all had fairly low expectations.
In regards to the TV reviews. We look at the new Marvel series Secret Invasion, chat about the new season of The Witcher, and close out the episode with a spirited discussion about Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and some of the continuity changes that have happened due to time travel.

Welcome to another fun-filled episode of the SFP-NOW TV Reviews Show. In this episode, Ian and Marx are once again joined by Supergeeked Up's Jeff Burns as we boldly go where we always go in order to discuss the latest genre television.
After our brief catch-up discussion in which gaming and Jeff's writing comes up as well as an update about 'Tales of Monstrosity: Monsters, Myths, and Miscreants'. We transition smoothly into the TV Reviews.
On the menu for this week's episode and in no particular order are the Amazon Prime series Citadel as we discuss that finale, The Grython, Sky Televisions The Lazarus Project, which is returning for a second season soon. Netflix's Fubar and of course the return of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.
We kick off with a chat about the series finale of Citadel, which impressed us with its high-octane stunts and solid acting. Ian and Marx felt that some of the flashback scenes on the show were a bit dominant in regards to they slowed down the story somewhat. But we all pretty much agreed that it is good to have a good spy series on TV again.
While on the subject of Clandestine organizations that feature as a plot device in TV series. Ian brings his belated discovery of The Lazarus Project to the table and talks a little about the show, which is due to drop its second season on Sky Television pretty soon. Ian and Marx give their initial reaction to the series as they discuss the first episode and delve a little into what it is setting up. We both liked the edginess of the show. And the fact that The Lazarus Project is trying to stop world-ending events via the use of Time Travel.
Finally. We wrap things up with a discussion about Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and give our thoughts on the opening episode 'Broken Circle' in which we get introduced to a new character as well as get a few hints at what is to come in future episodes of the show. In terms of the episode itself. Jeff has quite a lot to say about the action scene, which features Dr. M'Benga and Nurse Chapel.

In this week's show. Before getting to the reviews. Ian shares his thoughts on his initial impressions of the PlayStation VR2 Headset, which he recently purchased for use during his downtime. And told Marx about some of the games that he's been looking at, which also happen to be based on popular RPG Tabletop games.
Meanwhile, Marx gave a brilliant update about his anthology book Tales of Monstrosity: Monsters, Myths, and Miscreants and updated about what he has been up to.
Insofar as reviews for this week. Ian talks about the new animated series Gremlins: Secrets of The Mogwai, which is a new prequel series to the film franchise, which tells the story of how Gizmo wound up living among humans. Also discussed is the new Netflix spy comedy Fubar, which stars Arnold Schwarzenegger as a CIA agent who on his last mission learns that his daughter has also been working for The Company.
Other shows discussed included updates on Superman & Lois, Gotham Knights, and From.
Welcome to another episode of our Television and Movie reviews show. This time Ian and Marx take a look at a few of the new shows that have been hitting Apple TV and Sky SciFi Channel.
After Ian spends the first five minutes of the show dissing his teammates on Rocket League. We straight onto TV and share in our views about CW making a spin-off show to The Librarians, which is a favorite show around these parts.
This week we hit the ground running and discuss the pilot episode of Silo, which was called 'Freedom Day'. We both agree that it's a series that has some potential and plan to watch more of it for future discussion. The question is. Are we safe to go outside? While chatting about other Apple TV shows. Marx and I agree that Invasion was boring.
Moving on from Apple shows. Ian waxes lyrical about the latest season of Star Wars: Visions and how he was particularly taken with the episode titled Sith, which seemed to take place inside a living painting. He chats about some of the episodes and adds that all nine stories are really cool.
From the fun and animation of Star Wars. We move on to the more serious Sky SciFi series The Swarm, which sees the world Sealife turning against the human population due to a change in the delicate interconnectedness between mankind and Earth. The show is truly international having segments of it set in Canada, France, and Norway to name just a few of the countries that are represented in the storyline. The first episode features a stunning sequence of Ora Whales attacking Canadian Tourists.
Having barely survived an Ora Whale attack. Ian and Marx move the conversation on to Citadel. In short, our concern is that the show could be spending a little too much time in the past as the narrative seems to have slowed down a little. Luckily the series finale, which we will discuss in the next episode does address some of our issues with the show.

Welcome to another exciting review show in which Marx and Ian are once again joined by Supergeeked Up's Jeff Burns to chew the fat over a bunch of recent TV shows.
In this episode, we chat about the new Amazon Prime Spy series Citadel, which has some fantastic action and adventure to it as well as two brilliant lead actors in the form of Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra Jonas as super spies Mason Kane and Nadia Sinh. This series puts us in mind of all the best elements of James Bond and Mission Impossible movies. And Jeff Burns was really impressed with one particular action scene from the show's third episode.
Moving things along Marx and I give our final thoughts for now on the series finales for Star Trek: Picard and The Mandalorian. And keeping on the subject of Star Wars. Ian gives his first impressions on the new video game Star Wars: Jedi Survivor and admits that his impressions are based on the first 2 or 3 hours of gameplay. As he is most likely still trying to complete the game.
Rounding out the show with something a little different. Marx gives his thoughts on the new series of From and also chats about Mrs. Davies, which is a new series that focuses on a Nun who is trying to stop an A.I. from taking over the world. Welcome to the sixth episode of The new SFP-NOW review show in Which Marx Pyle and I discuss all of our favorite TV Shows and movies.
We kick this week's episode off with Marx's review of the new Dungeons & Dragons movie in which Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, and Regé-Jean Page kick some dragon butt. Marx feels that this version of the film is a big improvement over the 2000 version. As it pulls in more from the various different settings that feature in the D&D Table Top Games.
Our D&D Chat sort of moves over into a movie discussion in general where we discuss the DC movies and how all the different films seem to be somewhat disjointed from each other. As the movie chat moves toward Superman. We move into discussing Superman & Lois and do a quick catch-up on some of the more recent episodes.
From Superman. We move on to Gotham Knights, which sees the group get called The Gotham Knights for the first time. We discuss some of the mythology that this show is using from the comics and how much fun the writers seem to be having with The Court of Owls.
Boldly moving on we chat a little about episodes 7, 8 & 9 of Picard but focus mostly on the episode 'Vox' in which it is revealed that Jack is connected to The Borg. We chat a lot about the closing few moments of the episode in which we see The Enterprise - D for the first time in nearly 30 years and how that made us feel. We also chat about our disappointment at the death of the dipshit from Chicago.
Staying in the science fiction realm. We move on to The Mandalorian's penultimate episode in which Grogu gets his own robot body suit. And have a bit of a laugh about some of the things we can see Grogu saying with his new toy other than Yes and No. We also talk about the return of Moff Gideon and discuss whether there could be a traitor among The Mandalorians.
The final TV Show we discuss is the new series The Power, which premiered on Amazon earlier in the month. We talk about some of the show's more interesting characters and chat about how it will likely flip the tables by showing us a world in which women become more dominant in this world thanks to the Powers that they seem to have developed as teenagers.
Welcome to another installment of our reviews show. For this episode, Ian and Marx are joined by special guest reviewer Jeff Burns who is best known as the host and creator of the popular Youtube Channel Supergeekedup.
We're playing catch-up during the first few minutes of this episode as we finally get to talk a bit about the season finales of The Last of Us and Wolfpack, which we thought was a really good show. When it comes to The Last of Us Marx and Ian agreed that the series was really strong when it came to its character development. We also talked about some of the differences between The Last of Us and The Walking Dead. This led to an interesting discussion about video game adaptations.
Moving on to Star Trek: Picard we chatted about Dominion and pointed out some ways in which the show's changelings differ from the ones we saw in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Jeff who has only watched the first two episodes of Star Trek: Picard hasn't been particularly impressed with the series and shares his take on the show. This leads to a great discussion about Star Trek, which touches on some of what has been happening on Picard, bit also extends to some of the things that have been happening in the Star Trek comics.
Other shows up for discussion include Superman and Lois, Quantum Leap and more. But we round out the hour by chatting about The Mandalorian and how much we enjoyed the episode Pirates in which The Mandalorians help out Greef Karga when his town on Nevarro is attacked by Pirates. We discuss the actions in the show and try to figure out how it is that Katee Sackhoff's character of Bo-Katan is not sweating when she removes her Mandalorian Helmet.

Happy Friday and welcome to another episode of SFP- NOW's ongoing reviews show.
In this episode, Ian & Marx give their initial thoughts on the new CW series Gotham, which is a show set in a universe where Batman has been killed. Our initial thoughts are that the show is kind of meh and has room for improvement. So tune in to hear exactly what we have to say.
Moving on. We also give our first thoughts on School Spirits and focus on the show's pilot episode 'My So-Called Death', which introduces us to the tone and characters of the series. In this discussion, Marx compares this show to 'Dead Like Me' only with less sarcasm.
Staying on the theme of supernatural series. We also discuss Wolf Pack and zoom in on the penultimate episode titled 'Lion's Breath' which has a few big plot reveals when it comes to Ramsay and her true nature. We also discuss how gorgeous the show's cinematography is when it comes to one shot in particular.
Moving into the realm of science fiction and fantasy. We discuss the new season of The Mandalorian and recap events from 'The Mines of Mandalore' and 'The Convert'. We also briefly discuss a few shows from Star Wars past as well as touch on the infamous Holiday Special via a discussion about a new documentary film about that. So set your lightsabers to maim as many Ewoks were sacrificed to make this episode.
We close out this month's show with a recap of Star Trek: Picard's fifth episode 'Imposters', which not only saw the return of Ro Laren from TNG. But also used her character as a means to link the A and B plots together as more is revealed about The Changeling Plot to undermine Starfleet and The Federation. We also speculate somewhat as to where this could go and discuss how Paramount Plus could use this season of Picard as a Springboard for other series that could reintroduce characters from TNG, DS9 & Voyager as well as continue the adventures of some of the new characters such as Captain Shaw and Ensign Sydney LaForge.

On the menu for this episode is Star Trek: Picard Season Three episode 3 'Seventeen Seconds' in which Marx and Ian agree that the series has definitely increased the Trek Factor to Warp 9.95.
Also discussed is the recent happenings on Wolf Pack, which is a show that is very popular among the scifipulse.net writing staff. Ian attempts to give a gist of what's been happening on the show while only using moderate spoilers. We also plug the excellent interview that Nicholas Yanes did with the novelist who wrote the book on which the series is based.
Finally, Marx educates Ian on the Awesome American version of Ghost, which was inspired by the BBC sitcom Ghost. Over the course of this conversation, we bring up a few classic supernatural comedies from the 1960s/70s and ponder why there seems to be a lack of spooky sitcoms. I also use this discussion as an opportunity to plug the brilliant Hitting The Books With CBS'S "Ghost" articles, which we ran on scifipulse.net back in 2022/23.

Welcome to another episode of our brand new reviews show. For this episode, Marx and Ian head off to the final frontier and boldly delve into a few recent episodes of genre television shows. First up is a look at the episode of The Last of US titled Endure and Survive, which gave us a rather harrowing story in which Ellie and Joel meet Henry and his little brother Sam.
Then we head to the final frontier to discuss the first episode of the third season of Star Trek: Picard, which was appropriately titled The Next Generation. I give Marx my first thoughts on the episode and tie myself up in knots while trying to give a spoiler-free review of the episode. So please let me know how I did.
While on the subject of space-based shows. We also talk about the new science fiction series The Ark, which is currently airing on Syfy Channel in the US. We discuss our first thoughts based on having viewed the opening two episodes and generally discuss the characters and storylines of the show.
Returning to Earth for the last show. Marx gives me his thoughts and a very well-thought-out overview of the new mystery series Poker Face, which is quite similar to detective series such as Columbo and Monk, but with a new modern spin.

This week's episode takes a look at episode three of The Last Of Us, which seemed to stir up mixed reviews from fans of the game versus those fans that have just tuned in for the series. Get our views on the Bob and Frank storyline.
Also, we have a look at the new Netflix Series Lockwood & Co, which is somewhat of a surprise package with its story of an alternate future in which ghosts are a very common occurrence, but can only be hunted down by teenagers.
Staying on the theme of supernatural series we also take a look at the new Paramount Plus series Wolf Pack, which is somewhat of a comeback for Buffy's Sarah Michelle Geller who interestingly doesn't have a huge role in the show's pilot episode.
Moving from horror. We jump to some time travel for some fast and dirty comments on the new Quantum Leap series and the episode titled Leap. Die. Repeat. which kind of played out a little like Groundhog Day.
And Finally, Marx talks about his recent experience of being a panelist on a massive Buffy The Vampire Slayer Rewatch and talks a little about what he considers to be the best episodes of the show's fourth season.

With another year coming to an end. SFP-NOW's Ian Cullen and Genretainment's Marx Pyle invite guests, Jeff Burns of SuperGeekeduo and Fantasy writer Katharine Dow, to share their top three Television, Movie, Book, Comic Book and Video Game picks of 2022.
Indeed 2022 has been a great year for genre television and film and started off with a bang as DC unleashed Peacemaker on an unsuspecting audience when it hit HBO in the USA and Sky Atlantic here in the UK. After this, the year continued with a steady stream of TV shows and movies, which included such hits as Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, Stranger Things, Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, Game of Thrones: House of The Dragon and much more.
Insofar as movie releases went. We were totally spoiled with a mixed bag of genre movies ranging from the out-and-out stylized madness of Bullet Train to the surprise hit Prey, which instead of enjoying a big cinema release got released via streaming thanks to Hulu and Disney Plus here in the UK. The year also saw its fair share of sequels as well with the much-anticipated release of Enola Holmes 2 and of Course Black Panther II: Wakanda Forever.
When it comes to comic books. It was a great year for Star Wars as we saw the story of Crimson Dawn get fully fleshed out as it crossed over the entirety of the Star Wars comicsverse. Whereas more individual titles such as Something is Killing The Children and The British Paranormal Society also got a look in.

Colten Fisher talks about his contribution to the book, which is titled 'Hexpad Blog: A First-Timer’s Guide to the Big City'. This story focuses on a young person who encounters the big city for the first time and decides to write a Blog about it. After all. One can never tell what one can find in the big city.
And last, but by no means least we have Sophia DeSensi who talks about her new story 'Ghouly Girl' which explores what happens when a quirky young Ghouly Girl moves in with two human roommates.

We last spoke with John back in August of 2021 when he talked with us about his Ray Harryhausen and Flash Gordon books, which have both done incredibly well for him. This time out we chat about his latest book 'Escape From New York: The Official Story of The Film', which has been selling so well that Titan can't print them fast enough.

Also, we discuss our mutual appreciation for the late Donald Pleasence who to many horror fans is best known for his role of Dr. Loomis. However, we talk about his role as the corrupt President and how he was initially reluctant to play the part.
Added to this. We also discuss a few of John's films. Specially Toryboy, which has a few interesting parallels to the corruption that is depicted in Escape From New York.

2021 was a great year for television and movies and gave us much to discuss. So much so that SFP-NOW and Genretainment once again decided to cross the streams and discuss some of our favorite TV and Movies of 2021.
Hosts Ian Cullen, Marx & Julie Seaton Pyle are joined by Jeff Burns of Supergeeked Up and celebrated fantasy writer Katharine Dow to discuss many of the best Television shows and movies that we were all watching.
The year that brought us Free Guy and Shang Chi also brought us a remake of Dune, which seemed to do fairly well with critics, but we also got Daniel Craig's final outing as 007.
In regards to television. 2021 brought us a ton of content from Marvel, which kicked off at the start of the year with WandaVision and dramatically closed out the year with Hawkeye. Outside of Marvel, we also got the brilliant new Star Wars animated series 'Star Wars: The Bad Batch', which may or may not have a few plot threads that tie into The Mandalorian and Book of Boba Fett.

Whereas Sean Gibson talks about how his love of Victorian Literature informed his story.

So much so that it would take movie producers until the 1980s to figure out a formula that would force the producers behind Bond to re-invent the character for the modern age.
Over nearly a 60 year period. The character of James Bond has been known for its action set pieces, boyish humor, fast cars, beautiful women, and brash attitude.

After a month away. We're back and we get the ball rolling with an epic interview with Science Fiction novelist Ada Hoffman.
During this chat. The writer gives us the lowdown on how she got into writing and her personal journey to becoming a published Science Fiction writer. Her debut novel 'The Outside' wowed readers when it was released back in 2018 and it looks very much like that book's sequel The Fallen is going to do very much the same.
Ada talks us through some of the characters and storylines of the book to give those that haven't checked the books out yet a small taste of what they can expect. She also talks about how her decision to make her main character an Autistic scientist surprised her in a few ways and chats a little bit about her creative process as a writer saying that she usually has the beginning, middle, and end of her books figured out in advance of writing the story.
Being that a few of us here at SciFiPulse Radio is on the Autism Spectrum we also asked Ada her thoughts on representation in the publishing industry as well as representation in film and television. And Ada also talked about some of the ways in which she tries to encourage writers with autism by reviewing their stories on her website.

For this episode, we do something a little different and host a discussion with up-and-coming UK-based writer Dave Hartley.
Based in Manchester, England. Dave Hartley is a writer of science fiction and fantasy stories and fairly recently published his latest story called 'Pigskin', which is somewhat of a modern take on George Orwell's 'Animal Farm'.
Dave's Works and InterestsAs well as discussing his Phd, Dave Hartley also discussed some of his works of fiction. Some of the focus was on one of his most recent releases, "Pigskin", a dark, twisted fable about the horrors of industrial farming. It's available from the wonderful Fly on the Wall Press, which has published many other science fiction works, and other speculative fiction. Dave's very much a writer who draws on what he believes in. For example, he's an enthusiastic and dedicated animal rights activist. But we chose to stick with what we know most about, and further explore depictions of autism within the world of science fiction, within books and also in film and TV, too.
Autism Within Science FictionDave's favourite film is the fantastic Blade Runner (1982), from the wonderful Ridley Scott. His theses focuses on how it may well be a narrative concerning autism. Consequently, we considered other characters that might also be codified representations of autism. The obvious ones included Spock (Leonard Nimoy) and Data (Brent Spiner), from the Star Trek franchise. But there were other interesting characters too, that emerged during the conversation. But we don't want to tell you everything we discussed, you can listen for yourself. As it gives insight into the many things that Ray Harryhausen would have liked to do. But never got to due to budgetary reasons.
John also discusses the incredible journey that he went on. When putting together his Flash Gordon book 'Flash Gordon: The Official Story of the Film'. Which is an incredible story to listen to and well worth the time in the telling. In short. When John wrote the book and it came time to look for images from the film. He learned at the last minute that the studio didn't save anything. So he had to source images and production stills from the fan community and some of the people that worked behind the scenes on the film.
Added to all of this great stuff. John also previews his new book, which is due out in September, which is called 'Escape From New York: The Official Story of the Film'.

In this latest episode of SFP-Now and our first episode since March. We speak to filmmaker, writer and director Jon Silverberg about his movie Woodland, which is part psychological horror movie and part character study.
Over the course of our Chat Jon talks about the great team he managed to put together for the movie, which included Richard Harmon who is best known for his role in 'The 100' and acclaimed actor Philip Granger who plays the role of Sparky in the film and formed a very strong friendship with his co-star while making the film.
Jon also talks a little about how his career thus far has allowed him the opportunity to get to work with the likes of Stargate SG1 and Sanctuary star Amanda Tapping, who has moved more towards producing and directing herself. We even learn that Amanda plays a small, but somewhat important role in Woodland as the radio operator who is Sparky's only contact out in the civilised world.
We also learn a little about some of the technical challenges that Jon and his team faced while making the film as well as a little promo for the great location where the film is shot.

For this episode Ian goes into the realms of Virtual Reality Games and chats with Andreas Juliusson and James Hunt from developer Fast Travel Games. In the interview we talk about the exciting new Puzzle Game 'The Curious Tale of The Stolen Pets' as well as the many projects that the developer has been working on.
Speaking about the new game Andreas and James discuss how fans have responded to the game at the various gaming conventions that they have shown the game at. We also touch on the animation style, which put me in mind of a more slick and modern take on the work that 1970's animators Rankin/Bass who were famous for their Christmas animated films as well as The Wind in The Willows.
We also discuss the potential of the game to evolve and branch out into other genres while retaining it puzzle elements.
When it comes to other games that Fast Travel Games have in the works. We will see Budget Cuts 2, which is a collaboration between Fast Travel and Neat Games, which will be hitting VR Headsets in December.
VR fans will be able to play 'The Curious Tale of The Stolen Pets' on 14th of November and we highly recommend it as a game that all ages can enjoy.

For this episode Ian and Raissa discuss the latest DC Comics series to come to CW in the form of Batwoman. We also discuss some interesting ideas and theories with regards to Crisis on Infinite Earths. Also briefly discussed how Supergirl seems to be spinning its wheels with very little input into the Crisis storyline, which is leaving Flash and Arrow to most of the heavy lifting.
When it comes to Batwoman we discuss how it just seems to be mostly set up for the moment, but not especially spectacular.
We also talk about how both DC and Marvel can go about giving us movies and television shows without feeling the need to make it all about the origin stories, and bring up a few examples of old shows that were able to to entertain without the need to give viewers the origin beyond brief glimpses in the opening credits much like was done on 'The Incredible Hulk' TV series.
We close out the episode with a discussion on recent BIG Finish Audio releases such as the final box set in the 8th Doctor series Ravenous as well as the new reboot for 'Space 1999'.

Welcome to the penultimate episode of SFP-NOW for 2018.
In this episode Raissa and Ian give their thoughts on the recent CW Elesworlds crossover event and make a few predictions about how it could impact on Arrow and the eventual Crisis and Infinite Earths Cossover, which we'll see in late 2019.
Both Ian and Raissa were impressed with Ruby Rose's interpretation of Bat Woman, but felt that not enough was seen of her given that she was only in the second episode, but look forward to seeing her get developed in the future.
We also take some time to look back at Jody Whitaker's first season as Doctor Who and discuss the strong and weak points of the season. We both pretty much come to the conclusion that this first season for Jody Whitaker's Doctor hasn't been a strong one.
So why not set your time machines on pause. Enjoy a few mince pies and yell at us from the sidelines as we get all cranky and opinionated about our favourite science fiction and superhero shows.

One topic that gets discussed is how we feel that the political stance in Supergirl could be ruining the series given that it is so obvious in regards to where the story will wind up.
As far as the other DC shows go. We both come to the conclusion that 'Arrow' is knocking it out of the park this year and we speculate as to whether or not we'll eventually see the other Al Ghul sister.
When it comes to Doctor Who. We discuss the recent historical episodes and how they are written a little differently to how they were on the classic series.

Philip tells some wonderful stories about how he got into acting and how he came to befriend and work with the late Bill Paxton and celebrated movie director James Cameron while working for Roger Corman on 'Battle Beyond The Stars'. Philip also shares a wonderful story about how a chance meeting between him and Jack Nicholson got him interested in acting.
Fans can see Philips latest work in the forthcoming movies A.M.I and Woodland, which are both presently in post production. Shortly before we recorded this interview. The actor had accepted a role in a new Kaiju movie titled 'The Great Budda Arrival.'

She has worked as an artist since 1997 for companies such as Universal Studios Hollywood, Warner Bros Animation, Dreamworks, Nickelodeon and many more.
In 2015 Arie founded DrawLikeCrazy Studios. At DrawLikeCrazy Arie provides quality creative work for a variety of clients. Her work has been featured in Black Comix and Black Comix Return and she was one of the inkers for I Am Alfonso Jones.

A lifelong fan of Pulp entertainment, action films, and Afrofuturism, he holds creators such as Samuel Delany, Steven Barnes, and Octavia Butler as major influences. His career includes work as a storyboard artist for gaming, animation and comics. He has worked for firms such as Marvel Comics, Tri-Star Pictures, and Ubisoft Entertainment in his long career. Beyond his creative work, he has taught in the classroom at New York University and the New York Film Academy.
Fielder is creator of Matty’s Rocket an afrofuturist tales that blends elements of pulp adventure serials and classic science fiction tales with a vision of African-American experience.

For this special episode of SFP-NOW we have two interviews. The first is with Michael Schilling, who is one of the main PR people behind one of America's oldest fan Run Science Fiction conventions, which is held annually in Baltimore, Maryland.
Michael gives us a brief history of the convention. Ever since we started SciFiPulseradio on Blocktalk Radio back in 2009 we have had two traditions. The Halloween Special, in which myself and a few others get drunk and discuss horror films and the Christmas Special, which is much the same only about Christmas.

In our opening news segment Tye and I discuss the new Doctor Who biopic 'An Adventure In Time and Space' and drool over the great job that the BBC have done of reproducing the original Tardis Console and we also discuss Tye's rather special 'Land Of The Lost' adventure, which indirectly reunited the cast of the cult 70s kids science fiction series.
In this special extended episode of SFP-NOW we feature two fantastic new interviews.
The show opens up with me talking to Faran Tahir, who is one of the hardest working actors in film and television. During our chat Faran talks about his past roles in shows such as '24' and we discuss his recurring role in Warehouse 13 as well as his two new movies 'Elysium' with Matt Damon and Jodie Foster and 'Escape Plan' with Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
We also manage to talk briefly about Faran's short lived role in the 2009 Star Trek movie.
The second interview is with writer Doug Stark and Producer James Hereth, who take time out of their busy schedules to discuss their proposed web series 'Shining City.' Which is a science fiction conspiracy thriller.
In this episode of SFP-NOW Ian and scifipulse.net contributor and assistent editor Tye Bourdonay talk about some of the news stories to this past week, which includes our thoughts on Matt Smith leaving Doctor Who.

And then we go to the featured interview in which I speak with the lovely Rachel Nichols, who shares some insight about the forthcoming second season of Continuum, which started airing in the UK a few weeks back, but is due to start in the USA on Syfy Channel.

For this special episode we feature two interviews with Inda Cadranel, who is best known for her new role in the hit BBC America drama Orphan Black, which will be airing in the UK on BBC THREE in the near future. During this interview Inga talks about how she got involved in Orphan Black and chat a bit about her experiences with the cast of Lost Girl in which she plays Bo's mother Saskia.
The other interview is with the lovely Trenna Keating, who you'll all known for her role in the new Syfy seires Defiance.
During this interview Trenna talks about how she became involved with Defiance and also hints that we'll be seeing a lot more of Doc Yewll in future episodes.
The actress touches on a role that she had in a Holiday movie, which allowed her some time away to visit with family.
And we also briefly discuss the Defiance video game and address whether we are likely to hear from Doc Yewll in the game at any point in the future.
