Our modern Western culture doesn’t call us to bow down to a gold idol, but it does tempt us to bow to an ideology. God designed the world to be without pain, disease, war, and hurt, but even as His creation, humans err. God isn’t looking for external conformity to a religion or set of beliefs, but an inward transformation of the heart, an opportunity for Course Correction. It's crucial to recognize when we take a wrong turn, to learn from our indiscretions, and then to change course and move forward more like Jesus.

The parable of the sower teaches us that the kind of soil we have in our hearts determines the kind of growth we will see in our lives. We have a tendency to focus almost exclusively on the fruit above the surface in our lives, but there’s nothing we will see above the surface that didn’t start below. To experience change, we need to get to the root of the issue—the condition of our hearts—in Topsoil.

Jesus often calls us to live in a way that is not only counter-cultural—it’s counter-intuitive. He says things like to receive we must give, to achieve greatness we make ourselves less, to be first we must be last, to find life we have to die. In The Kingdom, we're going to break down some of the religious narrative we've heard and discover what it means to be a part of something bigger--His Kingdom.

Jesus’ resurrection power gives us the ability to close the gap between what our life is and what our life could be. Many believe that Christianity is simply God telling us what we can and cannot do, but God’s desire is to heal and encourage us and to give us a fresh start. God often chooses to do a work in us while we are waiting for Him to do a work for us. Jesus asks us to Just Believe in the resurrection power of the Holy Spirit.

The Book of Galatians has a lot to say about how we are called to live as followers of Jesus Christ. Throughout our lives on earth, we are called to become more like Jesus, and our approach to this is the testimony of our journey into holiness. Jesus wants to have a relationship with us. When we are in love with God and desire closeness with Him, obeying his commands is something we want to do. Becoming godly no longer seems like a burdensome task; it is our delight. In our flesh, we may want situations to change, but God wants to change us because He knows that the more we die to self, the more we will live in His Freedom. We hope you will join us for "Living" and learn how a relationship with Him changes everything.

We have a tendency to carry painful parts of our past with us: resentment against people who’ve hurt us, mistakes we’ve made, or even bitterness toward God. This series will show us how to recognize the grudges we're carrying against others and ourselves, and how the pain we hold on to weighs us down and keeps us from stepping into the freedom that God has for us. Each week, "Letting Go" will teach us how to release the past for good and embrace true forgiveness for the future.

This series reminds us that despite the uncertainty of the world and the pressure we place on ourselves, Scripture directs us to release that anxiety to God. When we do, we don’t have to lie awake at night. Our shortness of breath can be replaced by life-giving rest. We can feel a peace that goes beyond all understanding. We will be challenged to be open about our insecurities and recognize that we all suffer from them.

We can all lose sight of what matters most. The church is no different. Jesus stated very clearly themission of the church. We establish our plans to carry this out; however, over time someone’s good idea becomes a “sacred cow”. When that happens, the form often becomes more important than the focus. The Corinthian Christians had already started down that path when Paul writes this very straightforward letter to bring their attention back to where it belongs. In doing this, he provides some of the richest theology in the entire New Testament. Join us in our current series as we go “cow tipping” together to tip some of the sacred cows that can so easily take us off course and distract us from the mission Jesus so passionately commissioned us to carry out.
