From her episode notes - "This podcast isn’t about dating. Whenever I tell people I have a podcast for single women, they immediately think it’s about dating. I mean … what else would single women have going on in their lives, according to others. I wanted this podcast to be different. I set out to interview amazing women who are living their lives without waiting for a partner to complete them. We’ve heard from women who travel solo, start their own businesses, commit to their mind, body and spirit and share their passions with others. We’ve also talked about challenges and issues we’ve faced, like dealing with emotions from past or current relationships and how we can balance the masculine and feminine sides or ourselves. And recently, I’ve expanded to add an Aunt-ecdotes series, where we talk about the joys of being an aunt and share ideas on how to become the favorite aunt. The episode today is not about dating … or is it? This podcast episode really wasn’t about dating. It was about the human emotions we experience when we take risks and how we can share these emotions to seek the support we need – whether it is through our joy or pain." Jane Beddall shares Ready for practical and positive perspectives on conflict? Join Jane Beddall, M.A., J.D., in a podcast that explores ways to preserve and restore harmony by preventing or limiting conflicts that may damage valued relationships and ways to effectively resolve those that may occur. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Benjamin Franklin is credited with coining this phrase, in the context of comparing fire prevention costs to the costs of dealing with the consequences of fire. Destructive conflict can be seen the same way: prevention can be less costly – in a number of ways – than dealing with the consequences. Some practical approaches to prevention can be worth the effort. Avo Kouyoumdjian is currently my piano professor at the MDW - University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna where I study Chamber music masters. Born in Beirut, Lebanon to a family of Armenian descent Avo began his studies when he was 12 years old at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. Since then he founded International Joseph Haydn Chamber Music Competition and in 2002 he became the cofounder/ director of the Joseph Haydn Chamber Music Institute. IntroWelcome to Health Hats, the Podcast. I am Danny van Leeuwen, a two-legged, cisgender, old, white man of privilege, who knows a little about a lot of healthcare and a lot about very little. We will listen and learn about what it takes to adjust to life's realities in the awesome circus of healthcare. Let's make some sense of all this. Shiri ben Arzi: Fearless Medical Coach, Storyteller. Getting to YesSo, for me, this is about leaving the world in a better place, when I'm gone, than when I came, so that's the goal I chose. Doing it mostly with medical coaching, but I also do that, personally. After that experience, I became, in a way, fearless. I'm not afraid of dying. I'm not afraid of pain. God knows I'm used to pain. I know how to deal with it. I hate it. If there's one thing that I am, one thing that might frighten me is living an unfulfilled life and something happening to my daughter. That scares me. Fear did come back after I became a mother, but the meaning is that I seek to promote goodness in everything that I do. And it was also learning to be good to myself. We talked about self-love. Be good to me and love myself and loving myself is not at others' expense because self-love is not selfishness. When it comes to my health decisions, then I know that there are certain things I've learned how I like things done, and I permit myself to be the expert on my health. I'm not a doctor. This is why I have a fantastic doctor. I love him to bits. He's been such an amazing ally for me for over ten years. I have other people to assist me, but ultimately, I take full responsibility, yes, full ownership for the things that I know, for the things that I don't know, for asking for help. I know that taking care of myself is another way of being aligned with my goal to promote goodness to the world in a slightly better place. I need to take care of myself. https://www.health-hats.com/pod119/ (Full episode here) Danny Health Hats: Destination: Best Health. Life Goals. Symptom GoalsI have symptom goals as well. Symptoms like pain. As far as pain goes, I’d prefer to have no pain, but that isn’t realistic for me. I have a love hate relationship with opioids just like I have with steroids. They’re magic for a minute, and then absolutely awful. I get depressed, unpleasant to live with, and constipated. So, my goal is to prevent or reduce my pain to the point that the pain doesn’t consume me. Consume me, means that I can’t do anything. Mostly, I try to keep pain below a threshold where I can live life – activity, music, mood, not falling – my personal goals. Staying below that threshold means have regular habits that work for me – manage my weight, daily exercise routine, chiropractic, meaningful work, socialization (I’m an extrovert), liberal use of Tylenol and Ibuprofen, heat, cold, and vibration. https://www.health-hats.com/pod118/ (Full episode here) Connect to the Health Hats Podcast here: https://www.health-hats.com/pod/ Contributors: Shiri ben Arzi, Danny van Leeuwen

Harmony is about differences coming together, not everything being the same. We understand harmony in music to be different parts combining in a positive way. An antidote to election non-news - it starts by considering some characteristics of alpacas and examples from my herd that demonstrate them. After all, alpacas are: Calm–they rarely rush around, and their gentle disposition soothes those in their vicinity Graceful–they are such beautiful creatures you can’t help but smile when you see them Distinctive–don’t be fooled by their cute appearance, they have colourful individual personalities Shrewd–they weigh up the situation and carefully consider the options Hardy–they’re adaptable and cope well with the cold, though Welsh damp sometimes goes too far Inquisitive–they’re curious and interested in what’s going on around them, nothing gets past them Inclusive–how they look out for each other, especially for the youngsters, is heartwarming LINK:https://alpacatribe.com/podcast97/ ( https://alpacatribe.com/podcast97/) CONTRIBUTORS: Steve Heatherington

When Mati first visited Fair Isle, she fell in love with the island and decided to move there with her family. She also fell in love with the Fair Isle knitting tradition, not only the craft but also the role it has played in Fair Isle history. So 2011, in order to save the knitwear tradition in Fair Isle, she launched her brand, Mati Ventrillon. In this part of our conversation, we will continue on our exploration of the incredible journey of an international fashion business owner in the tiny and remote island of Fair Isle. Mati will share with us some of the lessons learned when she launched the MV collection. A collection inspired by museum pieces that Mati has modernized and made more affordable. If you are a knitwear designer, this part is a must-listen as Mati will walk us through the details of the making of this collection. We will also discuss the mainstream fashion system, and why Mati has chosen to develop her business on the fringe. But my favorite part is when Mati shares with much generosity and benevolence, some insightful pieces of advice for starting and growing a meaningful business. So if you want to find out more about developing a knitwear collection inspired by history and tradition, growing a meaningful fashion business that works for you and designing a life and a business on your own terms, this episode is definitely for you. https://themindfulfounder.com/podcast-episodes/ (https://themindfulfounder.com/podcast-episodes/) Contributors: Mati Ventrillon, Leekei Tang
The Weekly digest for episodes 1 and 2Branderman - Javier Mariscal | Diseño sin apellido (in Spanish) Health Hats, The Podcast - Smorgasbord
NB Start playing the episode and then use the timestamp links below to jump to where you want to listen (00:38) Hernan Braberman (06:42) Danny van Leeuwen We began Series 2 on 30th September 2020 - which was https://internationalpodcastday.com/ (International Podcast Day) so it seemed appropraite that Hernán Braberman should start the series with a podcast in Spanish.
INTRO Four brief episode clips from Health Hats, the Podcast. The first from a May 31, 2020, episode with Nancy Michaels, entitled PTSD. I Gotta Get Out of This Place. 2020, episode with Nancy Michaels, entitled PTSD. I Gotta Get Out of This Place. One thing I would say, too, most of us have friends or someone you know, or a church group that we belong to, or some kind of community that we were involved in before becoming ill. It's easy for us to say, ‘no, no, no that's okay. No, you don't have to drop dinner off. I appreciate it, but no, that's okay. Oh no, I don't want you to do laundry for me.’ But now people have to start saying, ‘yes, that would be so great.’ It would make that person who was offering it feel great about doing it. There is no better thing than to help somebody out. They get a lot out of it. But I think we all have a tendency to say, ‘no, that's okay, I can do it, or I'll figure it out. Anybody who's listening to this podcast who can help somebody, they could step up and help, bring the dinner even if they don't want it. The second, dated May 10, 2020, with Aparna Raghuram, entitled, My Optometrist Saved My Life. We are home now doing a lot of screen time. Zoom meetings are becoming so popular now. We work on this short distance. We don't blink enough. Our eyes can get dry. We used to have a lot of dry eye consequences coming from screen time, up-close computer work, phone, you keep it so close, and your vision gets blurrier, faster. Now with all of us being home, seeing so much more TV, so much more up- close work. We are continually focusing at a certain distance, which is probably not good. It's good to be in a room like I am, with windows to look outside, look at something green that helps you to relax your eyes. After about 30 minutes of doing continuous work, let's look out, relax, take a break. Your eyes are focusing and tired. You also get dry eyes because you're constantly looking at a screen and a monitor, and you don't blink as much. The third, dated June 21, 2020, with Emily Zaccardi and Adriana Mallozzi, entitled Imagine: Leveraging Abilities. Access Better Solutions. We never fit in a checkbox. Yes, we're social impact. There are so many things related to social impact, and nothing described anything related to disability. Also, I'm a female founder with a disability. I could never check that off. So, we know people who have great ideas, and especially now with technology, people with disabilities have a more significant opportunity to forge their own paths through entrepreneurship, but there is nothing out there to support us. We need to create this. The fourth and last, dated May 24, 2020, with Jodi Churchill Chapin entitled OB Nurse, Cannabis Nurse. When going into a patient's room, usually I go up close, I touch them on their leg or their arm. ‘Hi, how are you? I'm Jodi’ and shake their partner's hand. After getting to know them for a shift I'm giving hugs or at the end of a delivery. Now, none of that is happening. I feel so lost. It hurts the most when I'm used to going in to give a hug; then I have to step back. Something that felt so good, when you can't fix anything, when someone is sad, and you don't have the right answers, a touch, a hug, a kiss. That's not happening. I just feel so starved. Many times, I break down and just start crying. It's hard. Health Hats, the Podcast. Please subscribe. https://www.health-hats.com/pod/
NOTE: this episode is in Spanish - which seemed appropriate on International Podcast Day!(Normally most episodes are in English) Diseñar packaging debería ser mucho más que vestir un producto.
Hernán Braberman is Partner and Executive Design Director of Tridimage, the design agency that helps Latin America’s leading brands become relevant to new generations of consumers through packaging. Hernán is also host of BRANDERMAN podcast. In 1995 his passion led him to found Tridimage, the first agency in Latin America to combine structural and graphic packaging design. Since then he has not stopped creating and renewing brands, looking for a positive impact on consumers, the market and society. His designs have been awarded six prizes Pentawards, known as the Oscar for packaging design, Vertex Awards, A’Design, Ameristar, Sello de Buen Diseño, POPAI, Estrella del Sur and Pack Andina. Hernán Braberman was selected by the British Council as one of the finalists for the International Young Design Entrepreneur of the Year (IYDEY) and has been a judge for the Creation Grants of the Fondo Nacional de las Artes (FNA) in Argentina, the Latin American Design Awards (LADWARDS) in Peru and Marking Awards in China. His work as a designer continues to take him around the world, sharing his experience and knowledge with all those who recognize the limitless power of design. Welcome to Health Hats, the Podcast, learning on the journey towards best health. We will learn what it takes to adjust to life's realities in the awesome circus of health care. Follow Health Hats, the Podcast on your favorite player. I am Danny van Leeuwen, a patient-caregiver activist, a patient with Multiple Sclerosis, care partner to my grandmother, mother, and son’s end-of-life journeys, a registered nurse, a person with health technology experience, and a leader in healthcare administration. I wear many hats. My guests and I muse about making health choices and decisions, communicating health information, sharing what works, and supporting each other. Rant 00:22 I feel awash with melancholy; irritated when hearing others’ forced optimism, silver lining, time of opportunity blather. I’m outraged that the collective we didn’t have the foresight to keep maintained stockpiles of ventilators and that right-to-lifers consider the elderly and disabled as expendable. I’m dreaming of hugging my sons, daughters-in-law, and grandsons and waking up feeling empty and afraid. I know the Covid19 novel coronavirus is going nowhere. We can best hope to sustain until brains, money, ingenuity, and time converge to rapid testing, tracing, vaccines, and a different social, financial, and political order and supply chains. My melancholy, anger, and emptiness feel right and understated. The world through our senses has changed, forever. Kiss it goodbye. This week, it touched me directly. An old friend, a 70-year old practicing primary care doc with diabetes, lies in a Detroit ICU on a ventilator. As Andrew Cuomo says in his daily briefings, the virus doesn’t discriminate. It affects us all. If not now, soon. Today, we experience the impact of our short term, bottom line-oriented, feudal acute healthcare system. It’s been about business, money, and power. Our healthcare was only working for some before, it’s ready to crash now. The collective we appreciated public health only in its absence. We desperately need it now. No grief without love and appreciation 02:12 OK. I need to stop ranting, or I’ll drive myself helpless. Let’s review the situation. Melancholy, anger, and emptiness feel awfully familiar. Wait, they smell like grief, tragedy, and death - my steady companions -sometimes on my shoulder, always in my pocket. When my dad died suddenly at 45, I spent a month in shock. My friend Jerry helped me start to grieve. My life changed massively. I was young, 19. Good news, I had great friends. We’re still friends 50 years later. I grew up fast. I met my wife. I was ready for a relationship - silver lining. When our boy, Mike was dying, I got some help. Gregor taught me to take stock of my basic habits – diet, hydration, exercise, sleep – and hone those habits. He helped me see my major stressors and manage the manageable one’s. Build and strengthen health routines. Manage manageable stress. Now I’m a person with a neurodegenerative condition that’s never going to get better. I grieve that almost every day. Why me? Multiple Sclerosis prepared me for today’s tragedies. I’ve honed my habits and know how to operate at peak capacity. I have tools in my toolbox to manage my seriously annoying symptoms. This podcast is one of the tools. What do my dad, my son, and I have in common? I love us. They are gone and I am here. I’ve learned to embrace grief. Grief is feeling my heart. It’s the stuff of life. The joy of love and appreciation occur first. Then there’s loss, grief. No grief without love and gratitude. Same for you - feel grief? Let ‘er rip. You’re feeling your heart. Let’s give thanks for that love and gratitude. OK. That’s pretty heavy. Now what? As Gregor taught me – take care of the basics and manage manageable stress so you have energy for the unimaginable and unmanageable. Hone your and your family’s routine of good habits – fluids, food, exercise, rest. Keep connecting with whatever community you...

This brief PodBuffet episode offers a clip from Kenneth Goodman, biomedical ethicist entitled Bioethics: Autonomy. For Me on Behalf of Me. We talk about celebrating autonomy at any age. ParticipantsKenneth W. Goodman, PhD, FACMI, FACE, is founder and director of the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine’s Institute for Bioethics and Health Policy and co-director of the university’s Ethics Programs. Linkhttps://www.health-hats.com/bioethics-autonomy-for-me-on-behalf-of-me/ (https://www.health-hats.com/bioethics-autonomy-for-me-on-behalf-of-me/) Celebrate autonomy at any age 06:23Kenneth Goodman: That's a great question. We have come over thousands of years, I guess, but certainly in our moral frameworks, our legal systems, and now what we do in the world of bioethics, to recognize and celebrate self-determination. Autonomy, if you will, or Autonomics, to be self-governing, is something that free entities enjoy simply by having free will and a brain. The challenge, of course, is that you don't get that from the get-go. As a child, through all the stages you mentioned, see a creature who very, very slowly manages to acquire more autonomy simply by the root faculty of human development. Kids need guidance. They are not self-governing. Parents and guardians govern them. That's as it should be. We've learned, and this matters a lot in practical ethics, that as you achieve autonomy at different times, depending on the biology of it, especially if you worked in a Children's Hospital, you will see 15, 16, 14-year-olds and even younger, have extraordinary insight about their maladies. And you've seen 35-year olds who can't pour water out of a boot. So, it's a part of individual variation. Then you have our cultures. Our cultures have several other and different criteria. We want to be able to point to a number. In some cultures, it could be 13 and others, and it could be 16; sometimes, it's 18 unless it's 21. That suggests how very tricky it is to get this right. You're not going to have a social system or a culture that's going to get it right for every individual, which is why, in a lot of cases, we muddle through. But the law is sometimes not very nimble about this, because when you have a 15-year-old who's got her bolts in tight, the law still wants to say that there needs to be a parent, and yet we also know of adults who really could use some grownup assistance themselves. How do we take the privilege, the right, the brute cognitive sack of self-governance or autonomy and apply it? Well, decisions involving reproduction, involving a medical procedure, involving life and death can be so challenging. It's one reason I have a job, but it's also one of the reasons that, or one of the sources of why my job is so interesting. We want to get it right and being virtuous doesn't help you get it right. We need to do a critical analysis. A lot of evidence and data are brought to bear to make the right decision. https://www.health-hats.com/bioethics-autonomy-for-me-on-behalf-of-me/ (https://www.health-hats.com/bioethics-autonomy-for-me-on-behalf-of-me/) I podcast to make a ruckus. This brief PodBuffet episode offers two clips from Keith Scott entitled Peer Support: Patience and Kindness and one from Melissa Reynolds entitled Accessible Yoga: Honor Your Body Keith ScottWe don't give advice. We don't tell people that they should or need to do anything. We try to help the person understand that they possess this innate wisdom about themselves and what do they need to tap into that? “I don't know the answer to your question, but I believe that you know the answer to your question. I'm here to provide you with any information you need, support to access resources in the community.” or just to be patient and listen. And through that process, when the other person starts to understand that I'm not going to force them to do anything. I'm not going to coerce them to do anything. I'm not going to convince them that they need to do anything. The magic of peer support if you will, starts to happen. And what's key to this process is patience and kindness in all of the interactions. It really boils down to being patient, and to being kind. It's always seemed clear to me that for the system to change in a direction that's going to be beneficial to the people that it serves, the folks that it serves have to be involved in the decision-making process. They must be involved in planning. They must be involved in every conversation about their treatment. If the fundamental idea is recovery as a personal responsibility, for anyone to hold someone accountable, you also must allow them all the liberties and privileges and rights of everybody else. https://www.health-hats.com/peer-support-patience-and-kindness/ (https://www.health-hats.com/peer-support-patience-and-kindness/) Melissa ReynoldsWith chronic pain and fatigue, there's such a variation. Some people are always at high levels of pain. Some people vary. There are various stages within fibromyalgia and chronic pain and chronic fatigue. Plus, you have other things going on. Some people also have arthritis where their chronic pain comes from. Or there are other complexities. You can't say, “this is how you do yoga for chronic pain.” Key is letting people see that they have choices, so there's never a push. They don't need to be aiming for anything. They need to listen to their body and do what jells with their body. What feels nice? For too long, we've been told you have to push yourself. You've got to get to this point. This is your goal. I'm sick of external goals I want to work on my own goals. https://www.health-hats.com/accessible-yoga-honor-your-body/ (https://www.health-hats.com/accessible-yoga-honor-your-body/) I podcast to make a ruckus. Making a ruckus means sharing stories of learning on the journey towards best health. I'm trying to move the needle of health care a couple of degrees towards more self-confidence, more participation, more collaboration, more dignity and more inclusion. Wait a minute. I should tell you the truth. I'm a selfish person at heart. I'm a storytelling, patient/caregiver activist, living at peak capacity. I couldn't say that before my diagnosis. What is your experience when you are around alpacas? – do they trust you? – a simple example is that moving steadily with purpose is better than creeping around and making sudden movements. Do they stand their ground watching you with interest, or is that a hint of panic you see in their eyes? Do they know what you are doing? Do they know what to expect? Have you got ‘positive history’ in the bank? It is worth making regular investments in that savings account. My reflection this morning as I carried out my daily chores was that I was missing an opportunity. If I became more intentional, could I build something positive with this repetition? Regular small steps to make progress. To be intentional, I would need to have a plan, a purpose and some goals – goals that were small, attainable and part of growth or development. https://alpacatribe.com/podcast60 (https://alpacatribe.com/podcast60 )

In this episode, I want to talk to you about business planning, which, believe it or not, can be great fun! If you’re looking to get funding for your business from a bank or from external investors, a business plan is a must. But even if you’re working as a solopreneur (like a coach or a consultant, for example), and you’re planning to use your own time and energy to set up and grow your business, it’s worth going through the process of understanding what might happen, how, and what things might get in your way, so you can create a clear plan of action! You can listen using the link below or via your favourite podcasting platforms here https://www.emmiefaust.com/podcast/ (The Business Greenhouse with Emmie Faust). Tune in, and you will learn…How to create your business plan.Creating a business plan, especially if you haven’t done it before, can feel like a scary and overwhelming task. But it doesn’t need to be! My advice? Get some help! If you can, hire an expert. If not, why not get together with a business-minded friend and work on your business plan together? Perhaps you could look into hiring a mentor or finding a course? Download the https://www.princes-trust.org.uk/help-for-young-people/tools-resources/business-tools/business-plans (Business Plan from the Prince’s Trust) and fill it in. It’s a big document (and the task can feel overwhelming), so consider breaking it down into small chunks and completing one section a week. It might take you the best part of two months, but the exercise (and the outcome) will be worth your time!
This is a trailer for a 2 part interview with the British actor, comedian, and singer, Michael Crawford. Turning The Tables is a podcast about life. Real life. The real life reality that many of us face adversity at points in our lives. Sometimes it’s adversity that challenges us to our core, other times it might just blow us off course. Whether it’s health, childhood, work, relationships or family it has an impact on our lives and our outlook. The question is will we cope, will we adapt? And will we learn? Turning the tables is about recognising this reality through the stories and experiences of my podcast guests who reveal candid stories about how that adversity can be a catalyst for growth and renewal. Turning the tables is a podcast dedicated to building a community of people who share a common purpose. To challenge the sugar coated media projected view that a good life has to be a perfect life. And to normalise adversity as universal characteristic of our lives that we can move through with grace, positivity and determination. I'm Emmie Faust and I am the host of a podcast called https://www.emmiefaust.com/podcast/ (The Business Greenhouse With Emmie Faust.) It is a podcast for entrepreneurs, founders, CEOs for small to medium size businesses and I share strategies, tactics and tips to help you grow a thriving business. My first tip is around measurement (episode 11). So many potential clients that I go meet, they're not actually measuring their marketing or measuring what's going on in their business and they don't actually know some of the key vital information. So it's really tricky to know what to focus on when you don't actually know what's working and what's not working. I set up a reporting document for all my clients so that they can measure what they're doing every month and report back on that and then that can be discussed at a monthly review meeting with the rest of the team and the key stakeholders in the business. The second tip is to make sure that you know your finance and your numbers (episode 22). Make sure you've got a proper accountant, make sure your bookkeeper is really on top of things and make sure that as a business owner you actually understand your financial documentation and your management accounts and things like that. My third tip, which is a really, really important one is to make sure you know your customer journey (episode 15). Make sure that you've mapped out the journey that your customers go on. The whole process from start to finish and make sure that every stage of that journey you are injecting your brand, that you're delivering a fantastic customer experience. And really think about the customer. The customer is key. Do have a listen. Search for https://www.emmiefaust.com/podcast/ (The Business Greenhouse With Emmie Faust) and there are links in the show notes you can find all of those at my website which ishttps://www.emmiefaust.com/ ( EmmieFaust.com).
Turning The Tables is a podcast about life. Real life. The real life reality that many of us face adversity at points in our lives.
