Train Like A Saint, Live Like A King: Recent Episodes

Sanjeev Shivananda & Ali Fazal

This podcast features Advanced Yoga and Meditation Teacher Sanjeev Shivananda, hosted by his devoted student Ali Fazal. Why did Sanjeev decide to name this podcast “Train Like a Saint, Live Like a King?” It all relates to the fact that a “saint” is typically very disciplined in approach and trains his/her mind and body consistently. A king, on the other hand, lives a life of prosperity, success, wealth, and happiness. One does not need to be a saint or a king, but rather, absorb the lessons from both these aspects of the terms in order to lead a successful, healthy, and happy life.

Sanjeev Shivananda (00:00):Next let's go to the fourth body or the Jñanamaya Kosha. "Jñana" means "knowledge," accumulation of everything that is there in the universe is stored in this. And this is where we, as you were saying, we may call it, the subconscious. Read it stores every event, everything that has happened in your life. So this is where all the events that we are talking about are being stored. As you said, it is influencing over the choices that we are making decisions. We are making the fears, the anxieties that we are experiencing. It this all beginning from my fourth body, my Jñanamaya Kosha. And see… Even see somebody who falls sick in the physical body. It all starts from the fourth body, or somebody has a failure in life. In any aspect of his life. That also begins from the fourth body. A past negative experience will start affecting my conscious mind and my thoughts will start changing.

Sanjeev Shivananda (01:15):And that part will now change my second body. My breathing [inaudible 00:01:19] , that breathing rate will change whatever important processes that are going in my physical body. And I'll be taking those kinds of actions, which will lead me to a particular event, but it all started from my fourth body.

Ahli (01:33):Wow.

Sanjeev Shivananda (01:34):So with over higher tools, we go and work on all these bodies and ultimately the fifth body is the Anandamaya kosha. "Ananda" means "bliss," there is no negativity in this body. And this body is the connection of my all 5 bodies to my soul. And that, again, that connection, we will talk about another day, because again, a long topic and a subject, but for now, we must understand that in the beginning of our work is all giving a quick relief to [inaudible 00:02:11] pancreas, a little bit of initial meditative processes.

Ahli (02:16):Right.

Sanjeev Shivananda (02:17):But then in the longer run, we start working on all these different bodies and the most important being the fourth body, where we through a combination of meditative processes with very special breathing processes, pancreas combined with meditations, we start bringing out a lot of this garbage that is being stored, which is affecting my life.

Sanjeev Shivananda (02:43):And as we release to a regular practice ...

Namaste.

Ali (00:00):Hello everyone. And welcome to a very special introductory podcast, Train Like a Saint and Live Like a King, featuring the one and only Sanjeev Shivananda. My name is Ali. And Sanjeev, thank you so much for joining us today, it's a pleasure to have you on the show.

Sanjeev Shivananda (00:17):Thank you Ali. It's a pleasure to be on the show and talk about my experiences and the work that I do and how I help people. So thank you, Ali.

Ali (00:28):Of course the pleasure is all mine. Sanjeev, I definitely was drawn. Actually, one of the big reasons that we wanted you on the podcast was because of the name that you decided to call this podcast, which would be Train like a Saint and Live Like a King. What made you actually come up with this name? And what is the significance, Sanjeev behind Train like a Saint and Live Like a King?

Sanjeev Shivananda (00:55):Thanks again, Ali. That's a very good question because before we go any further, we must explain what is the reason behind the title Train Like a Saint and Live Like a King. In this title, the two key words are saint and king, and they're very symbolic, these signify a lot of things. Saint signifies a person who's disciplined in their practice, who's doing either yoga or meditation or any spiritual practices, but in a very disciplined and a really regular manner. And king is a symbol of success, happiness, wealth prosperity. So this title signifies that to become successful like a King, you need to train like a saint and you can make your life and lead your life like a king.

Ali (01:44):Wow, that is super allegorically deep. And that's what I was assuming that it was in the ballpark there, but that's very deep and very strong explanation there Sanjeev, thank you for that one. Sanjeev, as the world is now changing and we are going through, of course, a pandemic, there are so many things out there, so many people out there rather that are going through a little bit, maybe even a lot more stress than they previously were. I feel like based off what I know about the work that you do, you are out here to really make a difference in people's lives. The question that I wanted to lead off with here for you would be, a lot of us face fears when we have these stresses occurring in our life. These fears, we're overcome by these fears and we feel like there's nowhere to turn. My question to you, Sanjeev, is why is it important for us to face these fears and tackle them head on rather than to just sit there and hope for things to get better?

Sanjeev Shivananda (02:51):Ali, the reason why we must face our fears, a very simple first explanation is that running is not an answer. You cannot run away from anything and be successful. Anybody who has been successful, he or she has stood up to the fears, faces the challenges,
