There is a lot of talk across our nation today about oil and all of the in and outs of the latest. The story I am giving you today is a story you have never heard before and will teach us all about the real value of oil.
We have just finished an amazing celebration in America and it was so exciting to see people being great fans of America. Now we are busy watching the news, and there are clearly many people in our country that are not in love with America as we wish. But where does it start? It starts with us, in our own hearts. Take a listen to a number of these thoughts from our Founding Fathers that gave them the direction to keep striving to be a better example to others as how we should carry ourselves. Don't stop praying, don't stop walking the right way.
As you know, we are growing very close to the 4th of July and it is going to be quite the celebration. I have decided that for my July 4th program, I will be doing, each weekend, prior to the 4th of July, stories that are all related in my opinion to be the best American birth stories that talk about our character and our determination to fight for our freedom. This weekend's YAT is a story that happened on Dodger Field in the mid 70's - what exactly happened when two men rushed onto the field to burn an American Flag right there on the field and everyone was stunned. It is a powerful note to everyone that we would be willing to take on the most dangerous things we could face and do it because we love our country.
This story is about one person who was in harm's way and could have run, but acted in a courageous way instead. We should all learn from this story that you can be someone's hero even if you aren't doing something courageous.

As we look back in U.S. History, it is hard to believe that we didn't have the most powerful military in the world. But, we had men who were willing to fight because they believed in our freedom and they loved our America. Let us never forget that freedom is not free and a great price has been paid. But did you know that in the beginning of Pro Baseball there were so many Americans who were left out as professional players because of their skin color. It's hard to believe that American Negroes were not allowed to play Professional Baseball - so how did it come to be that all they were allowed to play - it's quite a story that needs to be told to those who have never heard it. With today being President's Day, this is a good story related to one of our Presidents of the United States. What did they build in his honor? Enjoy!
This is the story of a young man named Roy Riegels who played in the Rose Bowl Game as the starting Center for the University of California in 1929. He was truly one of the best Juniors on the team, but what happened to Roy at that game made it to be his worst game ever. In fact, his action was so embarrassing, that he refused to go back out on the field for the second half of the game until his coach begged him to get back in the game because "the game was not over yet." This is a great story that cannot be missed.
One of the biggest problems that we have in our nation and around the world is that no one wants to stand up and do the right thing. We all have a responsibility to carry our own weight and do what is needed. If they built a Monument to represent you as a person, what would it look like?

It's another warm one in Texas - hope your own local weather is doing well for you. Our Story this week is not necessarily one that you haven't heard before, but the details of just what happened there are not always so clear. It's the story of what I call "The Most Famous Tea Party in Our History". We have all come to know it as "The Boston Tea Party". As you listen to this "Party Story" you will see just how close this event was to the passing date of our Declaration of Independence, and that one of our "Sayings" today, "No taxation without Representation", began in this event. What many people don't know is that Abraham Lincoln was not the first attempted Presidential assassination. Of course, we all know that he did not survive the shooting, but there was another attempt on a president's life and his name was Andrew Jackson. This story has two very odd parts - 1) The assination was attempted, but he was not shot and 2) The court's decision from this clear murderest attempt was not what anyone thought the decision would be. This "You Are There" is about remembering and honoring our veterans who fought to keep us free and safe. We need to remember why we have a Memorial Day and not treat it as a day to shop for great deals, but to talk to families that lost that loved one fighting for our country.
To be a hero you don't necessarily have to save someone from a burning building, or jump into freezing water to save someone from drowning - we are told in Webster's Dictionary what the true hero can be. But I've been taking a look inside the poem and discovered that I may know a lot of the poem, but I didn't know the backstory of the poem.. Please take some time to read a lot of the inside information that goes with the poem, because it is all very interesting and you will know more because after you read it, you will feel like you are there.
The story is about a brave young man, his name is Squanto, who was sent unknowingly by God to help the Pilgrims. Your listeners will love what Squanto brings to Thanksgiving to make it a blessing to those Pilgrims.

On Halloween morning, 1938, Orson Welles awoke to find himself the most talked about man in America. The night before, Welles and his Mercury Theatre on the Air had performed a radio adaptation of H.G. Wells’s The War of the Worlds, converting the 40-year-old novel into fake news bulletins describing a Martian invasion of New Jersey. Some listeners mistook those bulletins for the real thing, and their anxious phone calls to police, newspaper offices, and radio stations convinced many journalists that the show had caused nationwide hysteria. A few nights ago, on June 4th, the Texas Rangers were playing in Miami and they were wearing a #4 on their uniforms in remembrance of Baseball Great, Lou Gehrig. I have done multiple stories of him over the last 20 years, but I had forgotten just how great of a player he was, but he wasn't just a great player, he was the best person I knew in baseball. Let your listeners learn, maybe for the first time about this great baseball player, Lou Gehrig.
Let me start by saying a sincere thank you if you are a veteran who has served to keep us free. So many people today, especially our young people and our children have come to believe that war is more of a video game than true life. I believe along with my wife Kelly, that we would not have our freedom if it were not for our veterans, God is obviously the foundational strength for our freedom, but God does need the help of brave men and women who love Him and America to give what they have. That is why I love to do these programs so that our nation will always know the great price paid, but do we really know the great price paid? This story is not about a happening in America, but I need for you to hear it - and pass the message of great Sacrifice of life along to remind us all of the sacrifices made to spread the Word. We all need to think about what we would be willing to die for?
When I was watching the news recently I saw a man attempting to burn our Flag in our America. That's got to be just about the worst way to treat our Nation. The story you are about to hear is such a story - but it was in Dodger Stadium with about 30,000 watching when those two men came on the field with a flag and gasoline. What we need today is for all Patriots to stand for our Flag God Bless America!!

It is a Speech for our Day now which tells us to get out of the Audience Seating and to bring ourselves into the Arena - If we do not all get into the Arena - the Battle cannot be won. When we meet someone new, and we talk long enough, we will usually come to that big question. “What do you do?”
And do you notice that we have come to answer that question with our occupation or job status – only Part of our “Do”. Oh, I'm a baker, a barber, a banker a cook, a stay-at-home mom, all correct answers, but only a one-half answer.
But the truth is this - what we do in our lives goes way beyond our occupation. It has more to do with our example, our influence what we impart to others all day, every day. Because no matter how you spend your day, you will always be making your impression on others.

When George Washington was a teenager, he wanted to make a good impression on his elders. Good manners were important to him.
That’s what Washington’s rules of civility and decent behavior reflect. The rules are about focusing on other people, instead of just thinking of our own narrow self-interest. In addition, they’re about being willing to make small sacrifices for the sake of living in a community and getting along well with others.
Some have come to believe that the nickname for Abraham Lincoln was just a made up name for him to use as a politician - but that is not true.
Abraham Lincoln did something in his community at only age 16 that was so amazing, so honest, that from that point forward, he was known in his community and then eventually, around the world as "Honest Abe".

When we think about our Founding Fathers, and their fight for a Free America, we find ourselves concluding that the hardest part of making our Nation was the actual War that took place. But don’t be too quick to think that once our American Revolution was over that the hardest part was over – that’s just not true. Why? Because they were determined to make an all-new Nation owned by “We the People”, not run by a few at the top. This caused our Nation’s document authors, with the Great Help of Almighty God, to invent something all new - “This Great Invention – America”. On this 4 th of July Special Program I am taking us all on a new adventure – to give to us the true and exciting “back story” of how our Founders came to invent America.
The 56 signors were there to sign, but there was someone else there. A mystery man and no one knew who it was.
This Memorial Day special, “The Price Paid for Freedom”, has been produced to honor all our Veterans,
but it gives a special “final salute” to so many of our WWII Vets who are leaving us by the 1,000’s every day.
It is truly my deepest honor to help tell the true stories of these who are part of what has come to be known as
“Our Greatest Generation”.

Minutemen were a small hand-picked elite force which were required to be highly mobile and able to assemble quickly. Minutemen were selected from militia muster rolls by their commanding officers.
We live in a society today that's always working to convince us that hard and difficult things are bad and the way we should always seek is the easy way - that somehow, easy is best. But that's not really true. Would you be shocked if I told you that the difficulties that come upon you in your life could be good for you.

Walls are made of bricks because a brick is a powerful and strong material. But will a brick wall stand without something else to keep it together?
No! No matter how strong the bricks are, the brick need something else - something called "mortar". It is the mortar that finishes the strengthening of a brick wall.
And it's the same thing in life. We can be strong as a brick, but to be strong enough to take on all the troubles and challenges of life - we must have also the "mortar of life".
What is the "Mortar of Life"? Take a listen.
What are we to do when our country is so busy working to help others from outside our country, while at the same time, not taking care of the needy in our own country. That is wrong!
Here is a perfect example.
There is no doubt that America is a nation - the greatest in the world - perhaps the greatest ever.
But what happens if we are losing our greatness, and if we are how close are we from the end?
I have been around over 70 years in America and I love this nation with all my heart, but I am very concerned. Why? Because with each new event and happening and rule made in our nation, we look less and less like the America I love.

Few of us today in America really know much of anything about sacrificing to the point of death, but there are stories in history that tell us amazing accounts of those who have suffered and died for a cause or belief. One such story took place in 328 A.D. in a city high in the icy mountains of Armenia.
The story of an 8 year old boy who gets lost from his family at Christmas and to this day, believes the person who saved him was really an angel disguised as a policeman.

As we all know, Abraham Lincoln, our 16th president, was assassinated. It is perhaps the most famous event in all our U.S. history.
But did you know that prior to that assassination there had been at least one other foiled attempt on his life? In fact, it was planned even before his first inauguration in 1860. It came to be known as the "Baltimore Plot".
We have come to believe that anything bad or unfavorable is not good, has no value, avoid at all cost. But is that true?, or is there something to be learned in the hard times that we would have never learned.
When the authors of our US Constitution had finished their work, they refused to sign it into law until something else was added - our "Bill of Rights". And when they wrote these Bill of Rights, they put them in order by importance. Do you know what your rights are as a U.S.citizen? Do you know which rights were considered to be most important?

Today in America, does anyone really know what the American Way really is? We are in a difficult position in our nation today; it is getting harder and harder to be in the group because the group wants to go to the middle where it is safe.

Whether we like it or not, we each are making our own Legacy for those coming after us to follow. This is the true story of one man who determined to leave a Legacy even though it cost him everything!

It has been proven that fear is one of the most powerful forces in all the world. This is the story of one of the most fearful Halloweens in all of U.S. History. It shows us the powerful effect of fear and what we must realize to overcome our fears.
So many of our leaders today tell us to "Trust them". But can they be trusted? And who should we trust?
It was about 1 year after the horrific 9/11 attacks in 2001 that I was presented an audio file to listen to. I remember that as I listened, I cried, a lot, because the voice, the words were so powerful - I felt as if I was listening to the Lord Himself.

There is a story in Texas history about a group of men who had all odds against them in a battle for their very lives - the Alamo.
But before the final day of that battle where every Texas volunteer died, they had a choice - stand and fight - or leave.
