Luke, Logan, and Landan Nielsen are three brothers from small town Iowa who unfortunately have the same initials. They went on to very different careers (teacher, comedian, and firefighter) but come together in this podcast to talk about life, pop culture, and whatever else is on their minds.
We promised to release another episode by the end of the summer and we missed that deadline by juuuust a little bit. But here we are making up for lost time by discussing a LOT of stuff. Not only have we watched a boat load of stuff but we also saw RTJ and Rage Against the Machine this summer, Landan's son is starting to like his uncles, and we've got tips for surviving long stretches time in parking lots!

We also discuss the recent surge of 90s nostalgia, pitch and cast our new Netflix series, and pay tribute to the late, great Ray Liotta. Oh, and if your Zoom call freezes, just scream til it comes back. That's how you'll it's back to normal.
The Nielsen Bros are back for some more patented nonsense! Luke and Logan sit down to give a much needed garden update that involves both of Luke's cars being smashed. They also give thanks to peanut butter and discuss some of the things they have watched recently including new(ish) releases Dune, The Beatles: Get Back, King Richard, Cruella and more! Logan also gives a breakdown of the weirdest episode of SVU he has ever seen because why not? It's good to be back!
In this episode, we realize how incredibly niche our podcast really is. After some gardening talk, we discuss what we've been watching (of course), weird hip hop, trains, and the time Luke rollerbladed in a parade. Other topics discussed at length include Army of the Dead, JB Smoove, Chinese vs. American fight scenes, Yahoo Serious, and our collective nemesis: Final Fantasy VIII.
We're back! It's been a minute but Luke and Logan are here and we're kicking off what we're calling season 2 of the Nielsen Brothers Podcast! Don't worry though, absolutely nothing has changed. We're still rambling about movies, TV shows, and a bunch of other nonsense. In this episode, we imagine our youngest brother as a stressed out Crocodile Dundee, rant about a horrible reality show, and ask, "are the Muppets magical realism?"
After twelve years, 2020 finally comes to an end and we're talking about all of our favorite things we watched and listened to throughout the year! Granted, most of the stuff didn't actually come out this year but we did our best to make another year end wrap up. We also share some personal stories about the year and Logan cuts his finger. We've been busy with our separate endeavors (podcasts, coaching, baby having) but we decided to drop back in and ramble to a profoundly absurd degree. We're all over the dang place in this one. We talk being a new parent, what pop culture we've been consuming, and how we believe the Fast and Furious franchise could all be considered Thanksgiving movies. Also, way too much talk about Fargo Season 2. We hope everyone has a safe and happy Thanksgiving!
We're back! It's been a minute but we figured it was time to once again grace your ears with our dulcet nonsense. We talk about the strange new world of sports, what we've been watching, and the legend of Wilford Brimley. We also get a little existential but in a blunt, silly way that only we can do.
Since we're missing baseball we decided to take the time to assemble the best baseball team made up of fictional ballplayers. We scour the lineups of a variety of films and discover that most baseball movies are about pitchers. Still, we have a good time building a baseball team from our choice of goofy underdogs, children, and Kevin Costners. But first, we get a West Wing update, a pointless dog update, and a our dad's flip phone update. So many updates!
Prepare for maximum rambling because all three Nielsen boys are in this one! Landan talks about his busy fire season and expecting his first child, Luke talks about getting extra time with his kids and diving in deep on interests, and Logan is still here too. We also cover what we've been watching (of course), stylish face masks, strange sleep behavior, and our dad's new flip phone.

Surprisingly, we had very few technical hiccups -aside from one, which you will hear- and were able to have a nice chat full of our regular old rambling. We discuss what we've been up to in our isolation, Luke's new book (now on Amazon!), and the concept of super speeding. It's a very musical-adjacent episode in that we discuss seeing live musicals, give dramatic reads of Beastie Boys lyrics, and discuss Logan's new obsession with the movie Cats. We also wrap things up with a fairly in depth look at Logan's stand up comedy brain.
Oh snap! We finally have all three Nielsen brothers on this dang thing! Youngest brother Landan finally emerged from the bush he lives in to have a chat on the podcast. We talk about what brought him to firefighting and we have a nice, long conversation about books because this is a smart show and how dare you for suggesting otherwise. Pairing nicely with our 2019 wrap up, we decided to do a review of our favorite pop culture items from the past decade. But first, we amend our favorites of 2019 because we somehow saw a few of our favorite things of the year during the weeks in between recording these past two episodes. Oops! shoulder shrug emoji
As 2019 sings its swan song, we decided to do an episode about our favorite movies, tv shows, and music from the year... only to realize after starting that we're not totally sure what actually came out this year.
Full disclosure, we recorded this episode a month ago and just started talking about Christmas specials, so we decided this was a Christmas episode! I mean, why not? We also have a nice discussion about creativity and playing make believe but that's after we talk about rebooting Quantum Leap and CCH Pounder vs. S. Epatha Merkeson. See ya in Branson!
