Pete, Russ and Andys Knott and Bass were joined by football finance guru and Price of Football co-host Kieran Maguire, to marvel at Albion’s great start to the season, with another 4 goal haul - this time on the road at Molineux.

Also under discussion were the transfer latest, The Swiss Ramble, Mary Queen of Stops and a conspicuous absence of replica GK shirts, Spain’s triumph amidst troubled waters, Chelsea’s finances, the Saudi League, Mason Greenwood, new reffing directives and ‘hive minds’.

Follow Kieran @KieranMaguire and @POF_POD and look out for his new book co-written with pod co-host Kevin Day coming in October.

Russ, Pete, Alan and The Gent talking the parting of the ways (waves) for Albion and Moises, PL, EFL, initiation songs, the very first ever controversial refereeing / VAR decision for the home team at Old Trafford, anti-social media, dodgy Worthing co-commentators and of course the Hatters matters from last weekend, all packed into our milestone 300th episode. Yes that’s right! We’ve recorded 300 episodes of absolute drivel these past 3 and a half years. We thank you all for listening to us and hope you will continue to utterly waste your time doing so for many more arduous years to come! 🤡

Pete and Russ are joined in Part 1 by the lesser spotted Andy Knott to give us his thoughts on the season just gone and the one to come, talking Saudi Arabia, RDZ, transfers and a controversial choice for goal of the season!

In Part 2 we were delighted to welcome Luton Town podcaster Dave Gregory from Oh When The Town onto the pod telling us his Hatters back story, the amazing story of Luton’s fall and rise, how he’s still in the clouds following his side’s promotion and what his expectations are for the coming season - including Saturday’s big game at The Amex.

The BRP were delighted to welcome onto the show Albion’s stadium announcer and MyAlbionTV presenter, Richard (not Richie!) Reynolds to talk us through his backstory and his time working with The Albion.

Richard and the Pod Squad (Russ, Pete and Alan) then looked back with enormous fondness on what without doubt has been the finest, the greatest and the most successful campaign in this grand old club’s entire 122 year history.

Best goals, best games, best moments and players of the season are of course discussed and reflections are also made on Graham Potter’s exit, plus Albion having no fewer than 8 players at the World Cup with one of them only going and winning the damn thing (complete with a key assist in the final).

Then there’s Lewis Dunk topping the pass and touch stats for the whole PL, while Julio Enciso bagged the MoTD and PL goal of the season award.

WHAT a season!

With the season finishing, pairs of podcasters from Albion’s five finest fan led providers pitted their wits in a summer special quiz.

Albion Roar co-host Alan Wares devised and presented this special event (thanks for all the work on it, Al!) as your faithful BRP pod couple Russ and Pete took on Albion Roar, Albion Obsessed, TogetherBHA and Seagulls Social to find out who would be: Top of the Pods!

Please note this episode contains swearing so don’t play in earshot of younger children, over-sensitive adults, trigger happy bosses or doting parrots!!!

No time to talk about Albion’s latest win! We’ll cover that later, as this episode sees our first ever players’ wives and girlfriends guest join us, namely Alexis Mac Allister’s charming ‘other half’ Camila Mayan.

On Monday, Russell met up with her in Brighton to chat about her experiences coming over to England to join up with Alexis in the middle of the pandemic of 2020, what’s she’s made of life in Brighton, why the cafes close too early! and whether Mac gets grumpy after a bad game - not that he has many of those!!! All this and more!

Pete and Russ buggered off to Newport in Wales to tick off their shared 85th ground visited out of The 92. So after a brief intro from there the pod went off to Manchester in the company of guest MDS host Alastair, who spoke with (now local to there) friend of the show Dominic Wales and (already long standing local to there) Nick Ansley - his niece is a Team GB hockey star, you know!

After all that, Russ cast a critical - and we mean critical - eye over the game, having watched the 90 mins in full via Sky’s selection of it as game of the day.

At the weekend, it was time for our latest non-league day trip feature, so we decided to pop down to the seaside in Easternmost East Sussex (more or less) to visit The Pilot Field, home of Hastings United Football Club.

Pete and Russ imbibed of some local refreshments before meeting up with octogenarian trio Ray, Alan and Geoff, who invited us to make their Matchday journey in Ray’s car to the ground.

What top fellas they are, with plenty of stories and memories! And the team gave a good account of themselves too, against top of the table visitors Bishop’s Stortford, narrrowly missing out on a point. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Russ popped down The Gladstone with his new fanzine chums Parker, Rich and James on Thursday night for some tikka pies and tasty alements to ease our post-Spuds woes.

Under discussion were Spurs, the Dogma fanzine of course, Paul Barber’s handcuffs, tins of warm John Smith and thoughts ahead of our visit to Brentford.

After two parts of that old waffle, we moved to Friday and Part 3: our latest Matchday special (MDS).

If you would like to check out Dogma, they can be found at www.dogma brighton.com

Albion ultra Tom Hylands joined us for his BRP debut to tell us his Albion backstory and to review the disappointing 0-1 reverse at home to Peter’s favourite club and player 😉

We also lament the announcement that first team midfield dynamo Enoch Mwepu, The Computer, has had to retire from the game due to heart related issues.

In this bumper episode there’s also a Brentford preview and a major rant about the inconvenience to law abiding fans of the new ad hoc spot checking system which starts with this Friday’s game.

Stand or fall!   UTA! Mouthy and disrespeful Spuds fans in the home end can piss right off!

It’s time, it’s time! The RDZ era is up and running with a performance that perfectly fits the description of his past exploits. Albion went to Anfield and came away unbeaten for a third successive time as they rushed into a two-goal lead, found themselves behind in the second half and then snatched a late equaliser in a pulsating game on Saturday. Albion were excellent as they took The Reds to task, with Leandro bagging the club’s first PL hatrick and only the third such hatrick scored by any opposition player in Anfield’s history! Can you guess who achieved this last time?! Joining Pete and Russ to revel in RDZ’s debut delight is Alan D, who beat the train strike to watch it live and direct!

This week, we invited onto the show for his debut Phil Shelley from oldfootballshirts.com to tell us about his Albion backstory, his love of football kits, his Worthing affiliation and his thoughts on our new head coach. We also welcomed his old mate Andy Bass back to join in the chat.

In part two, the always excellent Neil Atkinson from The Anfield Wrap joined us once again to preview the latest encounter between our sides.

And then there’s a short third part in which Russ rants about duplicitous short-termist football club owners and 1970s style racists!

Here we go! After 10 days living in excited anticipation about who our next Head Coach would be we finally have the answer - and what an answer!!! Albion’s first choice and pretty much everybody else’s amongst the fanbase once they became familiar with his work and glowing credentials was officially confirmed on Sunday night (18th Sept), as Roberto De Zerbi, the 43 year old former Sassuolo and Shakhdar Coach.

Rumours became widespread that the deal was done and that he’d been spotted in town. It was thought the announcement might be delayed until after Monday’s royal funeral, but then the club published a statement on their website formalising the news.

He will be introduced to the media on Tuesday before making his preparations to get settled in Sussex and underway with the task of picking up where Graham Potter left off.

To discuss the then imminent, now published announcement were regulars Russ and Pete, plus Raymond The Gent and making his first ‘Zoomed’ pod appearance Alan D.

A spectacular day at the AMEX Stadium as the Albion notched their highest goal tally of 5 in the course of thrashing Leicester City to secure their place in the top four for another week and give themselves a chance of going top when they play Bournemouth next weekend.

But just won the skies could not have been bluer for the club, a dark cloud loomed in Chelsea shape as they sacked their manager Thomas Tuchel on Wednesday morning and quickly moved to ask for permission to speak to our Graham.

….but just when the club’s skies were at their bluest, a dark cloud loomed in Chelsea shape on the horizon as they sacked their manager Thomas Tuchel on Wednesday morning and quickly moved to ask for permission to speak to our Graham.

As is the custom at the club, Tony and co. have given permission for him to speak to Chelsea and so as we publish this pod he is on his way there for talks 😩

Pete and Russ were joined by friend of the pod Emilio Di Nello to review the weekend’s games and to look ahead to the latest intriguing encounter between Albion and Emilio’s beloved Fulham at Craven Cottage on Tuesday evening.

There’s Jesse Marsch (terrible spelling!!!), a typical dirty Leeds team, arrogance and delusion as usual but in the end it was another win for the good guys, thanks to some perfect Pascal placement following a glorious 13 pass move.

Can the run continue though, against the latest London hosts to try to prevent Albion sneaking home with the china and cutlery! Promises to be a gripping affair as the chaps attested.

Russell was at the match to bring you the thoughts and vibes from Albion’s first ever win at OLD Trafford (and first league ‘result’ from there at all since 1983), in his mini matchday special.

Then, back in Zoom Land, he caught up with fellow podcast stalwart Peter to get his first hand views from the game as the lads reviewed this delicious victory in more detail.

And this throughly deserved win, which The Albion cruised to in some style, came despite the best efforts of Paul Tierney and his hapless lino (away fans side of pitch), who’s conscious or unconscious bias - we don’t know, much less care which - failed to delivery yet another undeserved result against us for the thoroughly unlikeable Refchester United.

Your host Russell Guiver was joined by guests contributors Andy Bravery and David Townsend, in welcoming to the pod for the first time a true Albion legend and cult hero, 70s goal machine and darling of the terraces Peter Ward.

Wardy talks us through his formative years as a football-playing (and window breaking) obsessive, his time with the two Albions of Burton and of course BHA, the Forest / Clough years, his time in The States and his thoughts on the current crop of trailblazing star players.

No.1 is Peter Ward….

Russ and a lesser spotted Pete - fresh from agreeing his new £350k pw contract Salah style - are joined by Albion-supporting sports writer Spencer Vignes to tell us more about the bad news that 70s playing legend Peter O’Sullivan has been seriously ill in hospital with a bleed to the brain. He’s on the slow road to recovery now but we ask if the club could be doing more for this Albion stalwart?

Also Spencer talks about his new up and coming book and we bring the Albion and general news up to date.

In Part 3 your intrepid hosts welcome author Stuart James Quigley to talk about his new book linking players related to the Premier League era covering all its members past and present.

Russ this week caught up with Albion fan and quality sports documentary filmmaker Louis Myles to discuss his excellent new film Croatia: Defining A Nation, which tells the tale of a nation’s emergence from the shadows following the collapse of the former Yugoslavia to reach the main stage of global football in the second half of the 1990s.

Louis also gave his opinions on Albion’s excellent season, his favourite game of the campaign and his thoughts on the talent emerging within the squad.

A combo episode this time incorporating our latest Fanzine Special with the Burnley Matchday Special.

Russ met the creator and the co-editors of the recently started Dogma Fanzine, a publication of high production quality dedicated to the subject of Albion fan culture, celebrating all the quirks of the great city of Brighton & Hove and looking at football culture in general. It’s great and they were good value, talking us through their Albion stories and the genesis of the fanzine.

We then had the pleasure of a chat with Stateside ex-pat and friend of the show Jon Bradshaw aka The Brighton Bard, who was over to visit family and take in the game (bet he wished he hadn’t done the latter!!!), before embarking on an over optimistic look ahead to the Burnley match which of course turned out even more disastrously than usual games against them down in dear ole Brighty.

Finally there was the agonising dissection of what went wrong! Hey ho!

Stand or fall!   UTA! Please go down Burnley, you annoying bstrds! ;)

Our friends in the north, Alastair and Nick, provide their views from Old Trafford as Albion were robbed of the best chance of a deserved result due to VAR’s re-writing of reality to ManUre’s benefit, pressuring ref Peter Bankes into sending off Lewis Dunk. So it’s a case of same sh*t, different day for the good guys! Russ then popped on to have a mega rant!

The Matchday posse were on the loose again, this time in sunny-ish Hertfordshire, to witness Lewis Dunk’s 350th Albion appearance, a clean sheet and another win on the road as Albion extended their unbeaten PL run to a new record 7th game. What’s more they’ve still only lost one game on the road all season in the league.

Russ, Dunc, Andy K, Alan, Simon T (giggling away!), Wedge, Ian, Courtney, Ahmed, Alison and, making his debut on the pod, her brother Phil, all featured, along with a post match appearance from Dom and a cameo debut appearance at FT from ‘fan of the show’ Rob Gilbert - pleasure meeting you, sir!

WARNING: There is a teensy bit of naughty language uttered within this pod.

The BRP has reached an epic milestone with this, it’s 200th episode. To celebrate this event, regular co-hosts Russell Guiver and Peter Marsh invited onto the pod a genuine club legend and club saviour: the one, the only, Mr (should be Sir, really!) Dick Knight.

In this first episode we talked through Dick’s early days becoming an Albion fan, listing his team heroes, favourite memories of those earlier days and about how he retained his love of The Albion through the years, despite the distractions of his career in advertising that led him to travel thousands of miles back and forth across the Atlantic.

We also talked Archr and Blotti, the war years, Fans United and much more.

It’s the Noisy Boys making all the noise. A sizeable posse of repBEERobates assembled pre match to impart their words of wisdom (most predicting an Albion win (hmm)). There were pod debuts aplenty in the form of Wedge, Brian The Geordie Seagull and some gloating Spuds fan in corporate, but it was not to be for the beautiful team this time, exiting this year’s competition courtesy of a 3-1 defeat in The Smoke. There was also time for a nice little post match debate on the mercenary scale of tolerance of football fans in relation to disreputable owners, a classic late night pub topic I’m sure you’ll agree!Stand or fall! Russ and Pete welcomed Raymond The Gent back to discuss an extraordinary turn of events at the weekend. Albion went one down and then came back to draw 1-1. Yes, yes, we know. It’s utterly fanciful stuff but it’s true we tell ya! Really, it is, honest! Oh and Watford sacked their coach again. Next you’ll be telling us night follows day follows night! Ha! Following an exchange of views between media present Albion fans and Albion CEO / vice chairman Paul Barber this week, Pete and Russ got their teeth into the matter and to put it bluntly they were both solidly in one camp over the other!Once that gentle little discussion was put in the bottom corner Graham P came under the spotlight again regards the post match boo comments from last week. There was then a ‘coming together’ when Pete reiterated his view that the Albion coach, while certainly good, is overrated. Russ made a robust challenge and handbags ensued. Luckily the players shook hands and had a beer or three. (Good job this clash was on Zoom otherwise there might have been fireworks!!!!)Also on the agenda was the Ashworth to Newcastle and Weir to Everton possibilities, the disasterously badly scheduled Boxing Day evening game and the prospect of an enormous number of ‘no shows’, the legendary Sergio Aguero’s retirement announcement, a focus on Leeds CEO Angus Kinnear: arch hypocrite and fellow contemptuous figures Brady, Parrish and Purslow, “if at first you don’t succeed fail fail again”, flopping royally on The Price of Football Quiz and Pete Marsh: Harbinger of Relegation Doom! Russ and Pete review the weekend’s action as Albion came a cropper at the hands of the quick firing Cityzens, who brutally punished mistakes in the first half to go out of sight. On the upside there were some good individual performances, especially from the subs, which included Tariq Lamptey - back with some proper sizzle and fizz! There’s also a look at the rest of the weekend’s PL results, a round up of non league Sussex action and of course a nice Newcastle rant again, as Palace fans displayed a banner protesting the takeover over Newcastle, their weekend visitors.Oh and W e also previewed the upcoming League Cup visit to The Kingpower this midweek.Stand or fall! In this episode, Peter and RG reflect on the Everton defeat and the fact that it is “another transfer window, another failure to sign a striker (oven ready!)“. Yes the transfer window has been SLAMMED shut, as aggressively as always (apparently!) and the club HAVE made some signings…just not that elusive first team ready striker we’ve craved these past few months. The chaps discuss how painfully exposed that leaves us in one very vital area of the pitch, in terms of squad depth and they peruse the rest of the significant transfer activity ‘this window’ to see who will be visiting The Amex this season.Anyway, with Guendouzi and Luiz long gone, we do now have as a consolation the player with easily the biggest hair in the PL. In this bumper episode Russ, Pete and Andy (of the Knott variety) are joined by pod squad debutant Steve Ferris, an Albion fan who’s the man in the middle, the bast....er, actually very much gentleman in the black and the proud owner of THAT match worn Will Buckley shirt. We bid an extremely fond farewell to absolute legend of The Albion Glenn Murray esq, talk Ben White for England, various men for various coaching and managerial jobs in the good ole Merry-go-round, the CL and EL Finals, play offs winners and all footy news besides. But that’s not all folks, because Level 5 qualified ref Steve gives us his opinions on the current state of the game from an officiating POV, on VAR, on the WBA disallowed goal controversy and where he thinks footy could and should improve from his viewpoint. It’s all here and it’s free! Albion came up trumps, FINALLY toppling ‘The Cityzens’ (3-2) in an emotional and dramatic night down in dear ole Brighty.5 goals were scored in total by the teams on Tuesday, so 5 guys tried to hit the target in this week’s pod squad: Russ, Pete, Andy K, Andy B and Richard.BDB spindled his way to glory with the comeback-completing third goal as Albion bossed possession like no-one has done to a Pep side before, the atmosphere was rocking from start to finish and all was well (except for the pies selling out!!! - Russ blames Andy K for that!).Say, I don’t suppose we could catch that soon-to-be-Royless bunch of chancers Crippled Phallus after all, could we??!! The pod welcomed back Andy Bass and gave a debut to Jack Phillips this week to continue our ranting and further reflection on the past 2-3 weeks of greedy snorting at the football trough by the vulture capitalists and would-be assassins of the sport (we’ll never, EVER calm down about this vile assault on our beautiful game!), of major protests and staunch opposition to the proposals, the scheme’s collapse and its chief perpetrator, Florentino ‘Utterly Out Of Touch With Reality’ Perez’s continued delusional ramblings. In our third focus on the Sussex non-league scene, we cast our Gulls’ eyes along the coast to Worthing FC to catch up on what has been happening there since we last looked. Sadly it’s a case of “a new day, a new prematurely-ended season” as their promising start and the suggestion of another promotion campaign ahead was once again scuppered by Covid lockdown and league decisions. Adam Hinshelwood and his squad will be hoping it will be a case of third time lucky when things return to normal, and we were delighted to have Hinsh join us to tell us all about that and all other matters relating to the team and his plans for them. We were also joined by Hayden and Sam from fan groups ABF and Away Boys respectively to give the views from the terraces and to talk about the revolution in fan culture at Woodside Road.In Part 2, Hinsh touches on his Albion days and THAT own goal - he brought it up, not us!!! and WFC’s match day commentator & Rebel Yell podcast co-host Peter Vale comes on as a HT sub (for Sam) to give his views on the current state of play and to show off his prominent mic! ;)So, rapidly increased attendances, noisy support, pre-emptive ground improvements for the benefit of players and fans alike and an excellent administration and ownership behind the scenes means things are looking up for The Rebels / Mackerel Men. He was at the heart of our rise to the top flight in ‘79 and was a rock at the back in our formative years at England’s top football table. After shining with his dazzling breaks from the back as a roving central defender in his time at The Goldstone he stepped on to even greater heights, winning the very best club trophies available with the Titans that were Liverpool FC, forming a formidable partnership with Alan Hansen. In recent years he’s been a regular pundit on BBC TV and radio but today he took time to speak to Russ, Pete, Andy B and Robin. He is Mark Lawrenson! 👏 ⚽️ 🏆 Stand or fall! UTA! Blue skies. Wispy clouds. Also rather conveniently, while recording, we heard word from Graham P’s presser that Percy Tau had arrived and already trained with The Albion this morning (Thursday) and that he might feature at the weekend, as we hope to avoid any “banana skins down South Wales way!”.
