Tara Schmidt, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, joins the podcast to share her wisdom and advice on relationships. The episode explores essential aspects of relationships, focusing on presence, trauma, attachment, and effective communication. The Importance of Presence: Presence is crucial in relationships, as trauma often stems from past wounds. Trauma is defined as emotional wounds that affect our perceptions and responses. Relationship issues often result from individual learnings and past wounds. Staying present helps prevent misunderstandings and reactions triggered by unresolved traumas. Recognizing and Managing Triggers: Emotional reactions can signal underlying trauma or wounding. Slowing down and identifying the root of emotional reactions is essential. Communicating with your partner about your triggers fosters understanding and compassion. Cultivating awareness and self-regulation skills is crucial for managing emotional triggers. Attachment Styles and Their Impact: Secure attachment involves creating a safe environment where individuals can be themselves. Insecure attachment styles, such as anxious and avoidant attachment, result from inconsistent caregiving. Anxious attachment can lead to clinginess and seeking constant reassurance. Avoidant attachment may result in self-sufficiency and emotional distance. Nurturing Safe Attachments: Parents should create emotional safety and support in the home. Safety includes allowing everyone to be themselves without fear of ridicule. Healthy conflict resolution models positive relationship dynamics for children. Balancing authenticity with emotional support promotes secure attachments. Effective Communication: The speaker-listener technique emphasizes active listening and empathy. The listener's role is to understand the speaker's perspective without defensiveness. Suspending one's own narrative temporarily facilitates empathetic listening. Encouraging empathy and understanding in relationships leads to improved communication. Conclusion: Building resentment-free relationships involves presence, trauma recognition, attachment awareness, and empathetic communication. Effective communication requires active listening and suspending one's perspective temporarily. Nurturing safe attachments and emotional support within families is essential for healthy relationships.--- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/becky-smith0/message

Part two of how to create healthy boundaries with Sabrina. In this episode, you will learn What is and isn’t a boundary.Difference between a request and boundary.A boundary is about getting your own back and allowing others their agency. The more ourselves that we are, the greater capacity we have to have a good relationship with someone else.If we get our own back by being radically honest, deciding ahead of time, and following through on our boundaries, then it allows us to let people be who they are, allows us to be who we are, and makes the relationship so much better.Three kinds of business: Ours, Others, GodsBoundaries take courage. Courage doesn’t feel good at the moment.Boundaries are there to improve relationships, not sever or hurt them. They are tools to practice unconditional love relationships better.Struggling with a boundary talk to a coach. https://calendly.com/sabrinadejong/coaching-time https://calendly.com/believefitness/45--- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/becky-smith0/message

Misbehaving or let's just say when their behavior is not what we would want it to be, and it might be something that worries us a lot and might have to do with their health and might have to do with their safety. Maybe it's the way they eat and are taking care of their body. Maybe it's choices they're making whether to smoke or vape. Or drink, maybe it's high risk behaviors that are just dangerous. That could be detrimental to their health. We want to be able to change their behavior. You want them to show up differently. We want them to act differently and be different.

I love the thought of life as a classroom. The purpose of life is to learn by experience, learn from everything, learn from our mistakes learn. When we choose poorly learn when we choose well. Learn by experiment. We gather data and feedback and we try again, we gain in the process of experimenting. We discover things along the way. We have incremental growth line upon line and precept on preset. Here a little there a little, our purpose is to learn. We learn by doing it wrong. We are here on this earth to experience it all the positive, the negative, all of it.

In this Encore episode Jessica shares her message of love, light and hope when a loved one dies by suicide. Saying someone died by suicide rather than committed suicide is more sensitive and accurate. Sometimes mental illness is fatal, just like cancer is sometimes fatal. It’s okay to feel your feelings whatever they are. Resisting your feelings is more painful then allowing them. Don’t be afraid to ask if someone is considering taking their own life. People want to talk about the person their loved one was, not how they died. You are worthy whole and good exactly as you are. This world is better for you being in it.

Clarity comes from engagement not thought.
Your brain will work tirelessly to achieve the statements you give your subconscious mind. And when those statements are the affirmations and images of your goals, you are destined to achieve them! – Jack Canfield

Meditation is the Intentional practice to connect with your most essential self and the divine
Meditation is a direct line to God and it’s always there and accessible.
The most important thing I learned from meditation is.....I am not my thoughts.
Learning to meditate has really help me to feel the prayer.
In this day and age we need to understand how our brains and thoughts work.
It’s OK if sitting still for two minutes is hard. It doesn’t mean that you didn’t do it or that you did it wrong. You’ve got 2 minutes you can do it.

Becky shares what a relief it was to learn she wasn’t a freak! There was nothing wrong with her, nothing to fix. She was simply an introvert and needed to focus on her strengths. Introverts are drawn to the inner world of thought and feeling, extroverts to the external life of people and activities. Introverts focus on the meaning they make of the events swirling around them; extroverts plunge into the events themselves. Introverts recharge their batteries by being alone; extroverts need to recharge when they don’t socialize enough.
