TANK Kollektiv is a project founded by Joris Heijkant and Reyk to express and share the love for electronic music through podcasts and the promotion of small-scale events. Their weekly podcast TANK Radio has a strong focus on Dark Disco and closely related genres. In addition to the residents of TANK Kollektiv, inspiring artists from all over the world are invited to share their take on electronic music.

Reyk finds inspiration in (Dark) Disco, Trance, House and everything in-between. Synth-heavy floor fillers and sweeping basslines are his favourite ingredients. Whereas Joris Heijkant finds a balance between heavy-hitting synth music and genres such as Electronica, Dark Disco and Kraut. He often carries arpeggios and some dance floor curveballs in his toolbox!

For this latest mix edition, we're delighted to have Marcus Christiansen from Stockholm!
His music and mixes are best described as a retrospective journey into the future where he reinterprets, embraces and explores sounds from the 80s and 90s, with a strong focus on genres such as Italo and EBM, but also Synthwave and Trance.
Growing up, immersed in video games, science fiction and hockey (anthems), there’s perhaps no surprise that Marcus' music sounds the way it does—playful melodies in a futuristic environment presented in a big way, like an anthem is supposed to.
With upcoming releases on labels such as Mélopée Records, Toulouse Gouffre Club and Weirdos Records, as well as his own imprint Club Mackan, winter and fall is looking very exciting!

What artists have made a big impact on you? I particularly liked bands such as Depeche Mode, The Cure, New Order… they were my favourites and I still listen to them now. New-wave influenced me a lot. That's what I like with the sounds of the tracks of Endrik Schroeder and Curses.

What attracts you to a song? I generally like melodic or melancholic tracks with pads and synths, including some 80's vibes.

Your lifestyle in five words? Night owl, music, equality, freedom, my sister & friends.

Who do you respect? I respect those who respect me.

Which city do you live in? Lyon.

Where is the best place to grab a coffee in your city? I prefer to go out at night so I would say the Bellona, it's a boat with a restaurant and a night-club. The place is beautiful and it organises open air in the summer. I also like the Transbordeur for the concerts.

Do you believe in ghosts? I don't know if ghosts exist, but if they came to haunt me, I wish they were the ghosts of David Bowie, Prince, Florian Schneider, Ian Curtis or Frédéric Chopin.

Are you more of a rule breaker or a rule keeper? Why? In general, I respect the rules because they make it possible to live well in society, but in certain emergency or force majeure situations, I’m able to break them.

When you travel, do you pack too much or too little? Explain. Too much!!!! I need to have all my house.

What are your future plans? Since last summer, I have computer music lessons. My goal is to learn how to use Ableton to produce music.I recently collaborated with my friend Neurotiker for whom I writed the lyrics and gave my vocals. I’m over the moon, our track will be released at the end of the year on one of my favorite label, Melopee Records! And now I'm working on a new project still with Neurotiker. I really like his work.

What is the inspiration behind this mix? __ We show a sound that we love too, different from what we usually play in parties, more trancy and club oriented, :)

What qualities make an amazing song? __ The passion, the energy, and the desire to have fun and amuse the public.

Your lifestyle right now? __ I try to find the balance between what can and what should be done

Who do you respect? __ I respect many artists, but also family, girlfriend, friends...

Where do you live and what do you like most about your city? __ I live in Valencia and I love its light, food and that it is close to the sea. It is a very comfortable city.

What is the best place to listen/experience music in your city? __ More than one place, there are many places, including the houses of friends. The set of places and houses make a unique experience.

Do you believe in ghosts? __ The pandemic has shown us that anything is possible, so why not?

To feel rested, how many hours of sleep do you need each night? __ I need to sleep at least 7 hours, but many times it is impossible. That is an example of the battle between "what can and must be done".

Are you more of a rule breaker or a rule keeper? Why? __ I try to follow them as best I can...

What are your future plans? __ Getting to sleep more than 7h... That will mean that everything is more stable and that I am winning the battle.
