Our Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks kick-off the pre-season this Saturday vs. the Dallas Cowboys and there are a LOT of major story lines we are focused on. The Terrion Arnold signing at the start of the show has us weighing the on-field talent against the off-field questions, Jadarian Price’s availability is up in the air, and there are position battles to keep an eye on. We break down what to expect from Jalen Milroe as he competes for the QB2 job, dig into the offensive line battle at right guard, and who should we be cheering on in the fullback competition. Plus, we’re forced to look at what Dallas brings to the table, including Caleb Downs and Sam Howell, and a rundown of our personal preseason “crushes” to watch for across the roster.

The second episode of Hard Knocks focusing on our Super Bowl Champion Seattle Seahawks is out and we’re breaking it down in our live reaction. Sam Darnold’s arm talent was heavily featured and we point back to a consensus top five QB who recognized Sam’s game years ago. As our Seahawks install a new offense, Jaxon Smith-Njigba’s low-maintenance attitude about learning new terminology says a lot about one of the league’s top talents. Mike Macdonald has a coaching moment featured as part of the open and it’s a side of our head coach that we haven’t really seen. It puts Derick Hall in the spotlight of the episode early, which leads to more of his truck and some great fan interaction moments.

We also work through the Terrion Arnold signing debate, Leo Williams’ refreshingly zen approach to the game, and an injury to Robbie Ouzts that has us talking about the fullback depth chart. Plus around-the-league injury news and a look at what’s left on the preseason schedule as camp rolls on.

Our Seahawks had their 2026 Fan Fest this weekend and some light injuries sprung up. We’re getting into a few major storylines that are dominating the 2026 pre-season for our Seahawks. The cornerback room everyone’s watching, projecting Byron Murphy’s year-three leap, and the level of contribution we’ll get from Cooper Kupp at this stage of his career. Plus we got an update on Nick Emmanwori’s injury timeline, Robbie Ouzts has some mystery ailment, the QB battle behind Sam Darnold could see a shakeup with some retirement news in Minnesota, and a fullback wildcard option worth keeping an eye on.

Hard Knocks dropped its Seattle Seahawks premiere and we watched it live so we can all react to it together. We break down the ring ceremony (a little bit buzzed John Schneider is a top moment along with Sam Darnold dropping his ring), and we get to see what Mike Macdonald’s “secret sauce is connection” philosophy actually looks like on camera. Nick Emmanwori is already getting the standout-player treatment, so should we be concerned that he may not be ready in time for the start of the season? Plus training camp fights, the Devon Witherspoon contract “Soon-O-Meter,” a Sam Darnold reality check, and Cooper Kupp looking like a future coach.

The 2026 Know Your Rival series closes out with the team everyone else in the NFL seems to be convinced is the best in football – the Los Angeles Rams. The offseason narrative around these two teams has centered more on the two-point conversion that Zach Charbonnet picked up and not the field goal miss by Jason Myers that could have made the 2025 series a 3-0 clean sweep in favor of the Seahawks.

What does the Myles Garrett trade actually add after trading away a young talent in Jared Verse trade? Does Aaron Donald coming out of retirement actually matter? Puka Nacua and Alaric Jackson both carry real question marks into the season with their off-field issues that could lead to suspensions. Matt Stafford has a well-documented boom-or-bust pattern, and Vegas has the Rams as NFC West favorites despite them losing the division last year.

In the second half of the show we’ve got 49ers training camp fallout, a full Madden 26 defensive rankings reaction, and a Sam Darnold contract question.

Live from Sunday night, we’re wrapping up Week 1 of Seahawks training camp before tomorrow’s Rams Know Your Rival episode drops. Tory Horton played six games on a broken tibia last year, got a rod put in his leg in February, and is already back making plays. The defense picked up a new nickname (or slogan?) and rocking new ‘Manager of Violence’ apparel. Word of Byron Murphy’s camp performance has us thinking he’s about to become an even bigger problem for the league, and we’re not letting Madden’s 26th ranking of our Super Bowl champion defense go unchallenged. Plus: the Devon Witherspoon contract watch continues, Elijah Arroyo is flashing in the passing game, and we’ve got thoughts on why analysts don’t really understand the floor when it comes to the performance of the Seahawks new offensive coordinator.

The Seattle Seahawks are back in training camp and, as a bonus, we don’t have any offseason drama to clean up before we get to the actual football. Cooper Kupp is making one-handed grabs that make you wonder what he has left to prove, Mike Macdonald is quoting Michael Jordan and the ’91 Bulls to a locker room that’s still mostly intact from a championship roster, and new offensive coordinator Brian Fleury is getting some high praise from his head coach. We discuss why Devon Witherspoon still not having an extension could be a concern, and we get into why it may be better to get Sam Darnold locked up long term now rather than waiting.

Reports on Wednesday suggested that the Seattle Seahawks are gearing up to make Devon Witherspoon the highest paid cornerback in football. After watching Jaxon Smith-Njigba get paid at the top of the receiver market this offseason, this feels like another easy “yes” this offseason. We break down where the corner market actually sits right now and some of the reasons why Spoon is worth every penny of it. But there’s a wrinkle. Christian Gonzalez is also looking for a new deal. Who gets paid first? Who gets paid more? Finally, we dig into the NFL’s Top 100, and predict where Sam Darnold could fall as we close in on the top 50 players as voted on by the players.

The Know Your Rival series rolls on to the team most Seahawks fans admittedly care the least about beating – the Arizona Cardinals. Arizona finished 3-14 last year, lost 14 of their final 15 games, and ran a defense that gave up more than 6,000 yards. So what did the Bidwills actually do about it? They fired Jonathan Gannon (now coaching in Green Bay), handed the keys to first-time head coach Mike LaFleur, spent the #3 overall pick on Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love, and for some unknown reason decided to reach on a third-round quarterback nobody wanted.

It’s hard not to view their offseason as anything but a disaster. They’re carrying $73 million in dead money, low-balling Jacoby Brissett after he started 15 games for backup pay, and now their own director of college scouting is suspended for leaking insider information and betting on football games. Could all this disfunction ultimately lead the team to land Arch Manning with the first pick? We break down exactly how close to zero that chance really is.

In the second half of the show, we’ve got some real Seahawks news. Our team has officially been sold, and we go through everything we know about the new ownership group. Plus we get into the backup quarterback battle that is “making news,” Julian Love’s push for real grass at Lumen Field and what it would take to get there. Finally, we close a Do Better call outs for the Cardinals Ring of Honor embarrassment and recognize Grey Zabel for two separate points in a recent interview this past week.

Know Your Rival season kicks off with the team the Seahawks have held without a touchdown in their last two matchups – the San Francisco 49ers. Seattle closed out the regular season with a 13-3 win at Levi’s Stadium, blew the doors off them in a 41-6 divisional round rout, and then celebrated a Super Bowl in the Niners’ own locker room. So what’s left of San Francisco after a season like that?

We break down a defense that finished dead last in the NFL in sacks and somehow worse in interceptions, a coaching staff that just lost its DC to the Titans (and lost their OC to us), and a receiver room that has almost completely turned over. Then there’s Brandon Aiyuk, whose contract standoff and new beef with Jayden Daniels might be the messiest subplot in the NFL. We also dig into the cap sheet. Brock Purdy’s deal won’t be ugly for a couple years, but Nick Bosa’s coming off his third ACL tear and it could be his last season if things don’t go well for him ahead of a potential out in his contract. While San Francisco is sitting on the league’s biggest amount of cap space, it seems as though there nothing obvious to spend it on apart from future obligations coming due.

In the second half of the show, we look at where ESPN’s roster power rankings actually put the Seahawks compared to the rest of the NFC contenders, announce our group tickets for the home opener banner-raising game, and hand out Do Better and Better at Life honors, including a former member of the Seahawks front office who just became the Vikings general manager.

The arrows shift to the 2026 Seahawks offense as we grade each position group as trending up, down or sideways from what we watched last season. We start with fullback and debate how much impact the spot really has, but there is some optimism on Robbie Ouzts and whether he can shift to a Juszczyk-style role. Thanks to rare continuity, returning coaches and improving young starters, it’s difficult to see the offensive line going anywhere but up this year. Will confidence following a Super Bowl victory help or hurt Sam Darnold when it comes to turning over the football? Lost explosiveness of Ken Walker should have the running backs trending downward, but the Seahawks have added veteran depth and a 1st round pick. Can Jadarian Price match K9’s explosiveness? Tight ends and wideouts hinge on increased usage under the new offensive coordinator, AJ Barner’s ceiling, Elijah Arroyo’s potential, Rashid Shaheed’s chemistry, and whether Tory Horton can stay healthy.

With Russell Wilson’s recent retirement announced, we want to celebrate his Seattle Seahawks legacy, from the “F” draft grade of his 2012 draft class to the defining moments that made Seattle a Super Bowl champion for the first time. We highlight seven iconic plays: rookie-year scrambles vs. the 49ers and Patriots, the 2017 double-pirouette strike to Doug Baldwin, pinpoint touchdowns to Tyler Lockett, the frigid 2015 playoff vs. Minnesota, and the overtime dagger to Jermaine Kearse in the 2014 NFC Championship. The Hall of Fame argument focuses on how he stacks up against other dual threat inductees: John Elway, Fran Tarkenton and Steve Young.

Wilson’s elite efficiency, comeback resume and status as the only NFL quarterback to achieve a 40,000/5,000 passing-rushing milestone put him in elite company amony other HOF quarterbacks. In the second half of the show we get into the off-field lore that also defined his career. We also take a look at how Wilson’s success changed the opportunities for shorter quarterbacks in the NFL.

Before kicking off on the scheduled topic, we hit on a couple offseason headlines from press conferences and other interviews this week. From Anthony Bradford’s injury and A.J. Barner’s “surgeries” to a couple key takeaways from Sam Darnold about the new offense.

Who are the unsung offensive pieces that can matter most in repeating as champs? We discuss the impact one receiver could make and how it could be a game changer on offense based on what we saw last season. We also look at how production of the offense can come in different ways, particularly from the tight end spot and why the Seahawks saw that value during the middle of the season last year. Finally, there’s one player whose continuity with Sam Darnold combined with a potential third-year leap could help provide stability at a position that was critical to the team’s first Super Bowl victory.

Seahawks left tackle Charles Cross faced off against Myles Garrett and the Cleveland Browns back in 2023. What went right? What went wrong? And what did an average drive look like both from a scheme perspective and a matchup perspective? Before we get there, we discuss the three-year, $42M extension for edge Derek Hall (up to $46.5M, $21M guaranteed). Hall’s pressure rate and run-defense impact demonstrate his balanced game, but what is he missing that sets him apart from the most elite players at the position? After a look at a few of the reps between Cross and Garrett, we talk about the anticipation for the Christmas matchup and close with the news of Russell Wilson’s retirement.

Seattle’s division race shifts after the Rams acquire Myles Garrett, giving up Jared Verse plus a 2027 first, 2028 second and a future third, and the move jolts Super Bowl odds while raising questions about L.A.’s all-in window around Matthew Stafford. The conversation weighs how much better the Rams get, whether chemistry or injuries could blunt the impact, and if Seattle ever could—or should—have matched that kind of package, including a debate over what it would take to trade for a star edge like Maxx Crosby versus trusting long-term development and midseason value trades. The show also hits the Patriots’ deal for A.J. Brown from the Eagles and what it means for Seattle’s Week 1 matchup, while closing with confidence that the Seahawks remain the defending champions.Support the show

Today we’re looking at the 2026 Seattle Seahawks defense and going through an “up, down, or same” exercise across key position groups. DeMarcus Lawrence was at practice today. Was the retirement buzz even a slight possibility? Safety sparks some early debate as we kick off the look across position groups. The loss of Coby Bryant matters, but Bud Clark’s upside, plus staples like Julian Love and the role of Nick Emmanwori, keep the arrow trending steady with potential lift. Cornerback draws some concern after Tariq Woolen’s departure, with Devon Witherspoon and Josh Jobe anchoring a thinner depth chart that leans on rookies and unproven options. The interior line, with Leonard Williams, Byron Murphy II, Jarran Reed, and rotational help from Riley Mills, has us wondering who may be on the outside looking in when it comes time for cuts. We close with edge and linebacker, and look ahead to the importance of maintaining premium interior disruption and disciplined run defense to keep the championship-level unit rolling next season.

Is this year’s “list season” going to be “disrespect season” for our reigning Super Bowl champion Seahawks? We take a look at four recent Seahawks-related narratives in this week’s show as 49ers fans react oddly to an “Lumen South” meme. The first “list” is a 2024 NFL redraft that sends Seattle away from Byron Murphy only to land on Braden Fiske. In what world is Fiske better than Byron Murphy? In other Rams news, Ian Rapoport is carrying water for the Rams by saying drafting Ty Simpson still “makes a ton of sense” after Matthew Stafford’s extension. Finally, Mina Kimes and Ben Solak’s 2026 QB draft board slots Sam Darnold 19th behind players like Kyler Murray and rookie Fernando Mendoza.

Episode 500 looks back at the Seattle Seahawks previous championship window to spot what fueled the decline from back-to-back Super Bowl appearances. The conversation centers on three of John Schneider’s costly inflection points from 2013 to 2015: the Percy Harvin trade and contract (and the draft opportunity cost), sacrificing trench stability by trading Pro Bowl center Max Unger for Jimmy Graham, and focusing on perimeter talent while missing on investments in the trenches.

We revisit draft classes that produced limited impact in 2013 and 2014. And while the 2015 class was highlighted by Tyler Lockett and Frank Clark, they ended up moving on early from an offensive lineman who had a solid career with the Colts. We compare that era’s heavy roster turnover to the current team’s continuity. And Seattle appears to be avoiding splashy trades, prioritizing the right re-signings, and keeping flexibility to invest in the trenches to extend their window this time around.

In the second half of the show, we talk more about the schedule release and the potential timeline for the return of Zach Charbonnet. We also thank our members of the flock who have helped get us to 500 episodes of the years. The “unfairness” of the schedule is the focus of the Do Better segment along with the continued idea of Sam Darnold having to live up to higher expectations. Better at Life honors go out to Dr. Bobby Wagner and an example of how Seahawks fans have an impact on each other outside of football.

The Seahawks kick off against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. We take a look at the latest news as Quandre Diggs is called up from the practice squad along with Velus Jones and Myles Gaskin. Our poll question this week centers around how many sacks the defense could get against the Vikings rookie quarterback. Majority of fans took the 5+ route, and we discuss why 3-4 is the more likely option to see. Stick around for the top bets of the week as Clinton and Adam strategize around who could see an increase in targets if the Vikings continue to go heavy on the blitz on defense.

With the playoffs in sight, the Seattle Seahawks look to continue their streak of only losing one game per month if they can finish strong against the Minnesota Vikings. The return of Quandre Diggs brings a familiar spark to the defense, while we wait to see if Ty Okada will be back in the lineup on Sunday. Minnesota is rolling out an undrafted rookie quarterback with J.J. McCarthy in concussion protocol. Will they continue to stick to a pass-heavy game plan that hasn't delivered for them this season? The run game—or lack thereof—stands out as a key factor, and Seattle's ability to put pressure on a young quarterback could turn this into a lopsided game. Will Sam Darnold see this as a big game considering his history in Minnesota? Or will we see a calm Darnold who should be able to tear apart the Vikings secondary?

In the second half of the show we discuss how the old “chain gang” appears to be missing for the 2025 NFL season. We've rarely seen the virtual measurement, let along the classic physical measurement. Are we just to the point where we'll trust the officials on the field to spot the ball? As we head into the shopping season, we discuss some disappointing trends that we were both faced with this past week. Better at Life honors go out to all the 12s who made the trip to Nashville.

Can the Seahawks save a little room to feast on a young Vikings QB? We may have to wait to see which one, as J.J. McCarthy is in concussion protocol and we could end up seeing Max Brosmer under center. We work through a Thanksgiving-themed game, drawing parallels between the top dishes and pressing football questions related to our Seahawks. Will the Hawks overcome some frustrations we've discussed on offense? What are their chances against a struggling Vikings team? We close the show with our game predictions and a roundup of wishes from the Flock.

We've got the INs and OUTs from the latest Seahawks victory in Nashville — although the format is a bit different than usual. One of the things Seattle fans wanted to see was a clean sheet from Sam Darnold. Did we actually get there? From Rashid Shaheed's punt return game to Devon Witherspoon's presence on the field, we discuss some of our favorite moments from Sunday's game. Tariq Woolen gets some special recognition for his tackling as Derrick Hall and Drake Thomas were relentless on the defensive side of the ball.

The Seahawks coasted to victory over the Tennessee Titans in Nashville, getting the 30-24 win off another standout performance by Jaxon Smith-Njigba. With six games remaining in the season, JSN has already set a franchise record with 1,313 receiving yards. His two touchdowns helped keep Seattle out ahead of the Titans and in control of the game all afternoon. Ken Walker provided another significant contribution with more than 100 yards of offense and some explosive plays in both the passing and run game. The defense tallied four sacks as Cam Ward was under significant pressure and they managed to help keep the Titans in the game through his resilience and some impressive throws.

The Seattle Seahawks latest clash with the Los Angeles Rams left fans reeling after a brutal four-interception performance. What separates good QBs from great ones, and why some fans are losing patience while others still see hope for a turnaround. Expectations, turnovers, and the pressure of big moments all come under the microscope. So what exactly is Darnold's record in “big games” and how does it compare with “big moments”? Is there a difference?

We also highlight some big time stats that Jaxon Smith-Njigba is putting up on the offensive side and how Devon Witherspoon has been locking down the perimeter on defense. Looking ahead, the focus shifts to the upcoming matchup against the Titans and what the Seahawks need to do to get back on track.

In the second half of the show we discuss some remaining notes from the game. We close the show with calls to Do Better with regard to quarterback rankings and a ridiculous law in London. Better at Life honors go out to a pair of Seahawks players for their postgame commentary on the podium following the loss to the Rams.

After a narrow loss to the Rams, a mental shift needed to focus on the upcoming game against the Tennessee Titans. Considering the way the season is going for the Titans, the expectation is that we'll have a prime opportunity to see Seattle bounce back. Should Seattle focus on the running game or open up the passing attack this week? Defensively, we get into the reasons why our edge rushers and linebackers can dominate versus the Titans offense. We also discuss how expectations to win against a struggling team will cast a shadow on this matchup. Can they get back to playing at that high level prior to facing their division rival.

In a game of inches, we ended up a few yards short and to the right. In a frustrating loss where Sam Darnold must take most of the blame, there were other moments and aspects, good and bad, that added to this tough loss to our largest rivals, the Rams. There were some good points to focus on, too. Defensive efforts come under the spotlight, notably the exceptional play from Tariq Woolen, a crucial tackle for loss by Boye Mafe, as well as the importance of second-half adjustments. Some surprising stats jumped out as we dug into the box score, too. While it felt like most of the pressure came from the right side, two-thirds of the pressure actually came from the left. Plus, there was one play by the guards and led to Ken Walker getting absolutely blown up in the backfield. Tune in for some of the good moments, as we sprinkle in some of the bad moments that you'd expect out of this game.Join our Sea Hawkers Podcast Pickem League – free prizes for weekly winners.

The Seahawks had a masterful performance on defense to keep the game within reach in the final seconds of the game. Ultimately, the loss to the Los Angeles Rams comes down to critical mistakes and costly turnovers by Sam Darnold. However, he did bounce back from his four interceptions to give Jason Meyers a shot even after the offense was pinned at the 1-yard line by the Rams special teams unit. The offense also suffered a major injury in the final moments of the game that is likely going to test the depth of the offensive line and put further stress on Darnold down the stretch. Tune in to our live reaction as we talk about what we'll need to see moving forward from our Seahawks to make a playoff run.

We also examine Sam Darnold's clean performance, throwing for nearly 300 yards without any interceptions. But what happened with the run game? The Seattle Seahawks take on the Jacksonville Jaguars this weekend and we'd like to see our team continue the strange dichotomy of the road game success. Based on the Jaguars recent performance, are they being overhyped after wins against the Chiefs and 49ers? We take a look at the Jaguars offensive strengths, such as their run game, offensive line, and receiving corps, breaking down their potential impacts on the game. While they've had several standout players who have helped to generate turnovers, it doesn't mean the team is without weaknesses on that side of the ball. Seattle will need to hold onto their edge in and third-down and red zone conversion rates while avoiding those same costly mistakes that doomed the Niners and KC.

In Do Better this week, our NFC West rivals are in the spotlight as Jonathan Gannon showed questionable leadership on the Arizona Cardinals sideline this past week. But does Kyler Murray actually deserve some of the heat that he's been getting on social media lately? Better at life honors go out to a Swiss company revolutionizing steel recycling using solar power and a Mariners fan who gets the “prepper” stamp of approval.

The Seahawks put up 35 points on Sunday, but the interior of the offensive line did not grade out well according to Pro Football Focus? What goes into the grading metrics and how does a player like Anthony Bradford get a zero grade in the pass game? We contrast Bradford's performance with Grey Zabel on the opposite side. A mix of the quick game, moving the pocket and some elusiveness form Sam Darnold helped to make this offense shine and performances by AJ Barner and Tory Horton are helping contribute to this offensive success.

The conversation shifts to the defensive side, where linebacker and secondary play were notably problematic. Missed tackles and lapses in coverage allowed the Buccaneers to convert multiple third-and-long situations. Up front, the pass rush wasn't effective and that leads to a discussion about potential moves the Seahawks could make. Pursuing Trey Hendrickson from the Bengals could bolster the defensive line, but would the cost be worth it? Are there some other potential trade options the Seahawks should consider?

For 59 minutes, Sam Darnold played lights out at quarterback — up until he drilled a pass into the top of a Bucs helmet and into the intercepting arms of Lavonte David. Up until that point, Darnold had some close calls, but everything had gone the Seahawks way on offense. Defensively, the team was not as lucky. While the 38-35 win was set up from an INT, the previous 35 points were entirely on a sloppy and injury-plagued defensive performance. But they did get one critical stop in the 4th quarter and help the Bucs game in check all day. We talk about where Coach Macdonald may have missed some critical opportunities and how the Seahawks look moving forward after another frustrating home loss.

The Seattle Seahawks now sit atop the NFC West tied at 3-1 after a win over the Arizona Cardinals. The defense dominated for most of the game, yet needed some late-game heroics from Sam Darnold, who earned his first “stat” of his Seahawks career. Leonard Williams continues to shine on a defensive line that seems to be rotating among giving prime opportunities to a different guy each week.

However, there are concerns about lapses and penalties, especially in the defense and from Tariq Woolen, and from Anthony Bradford who got highlighted in a social media post with most of his worst moments from the game. Could a Woolen trade fix both issues? Or should Seattle be content with a deep squad of defensive backs? We talk about what a potential trade return for Woolen could look like.

From the game against the Cardinals to the game between the Dallas Cowboys and Green Bay Packers, we saw how the new kickoff rule is impacting late-game strategy. Should we be welcoming this new element of the game?

It was a nail-biting 23-20 victory for our Seattle Seahawks over the Arizona Cardinals, but it didn't need to be. We discuss some of the key moments, including a holding penalty on Jaxon Smith-Njigba and the plays that led up to a game-winning field goal by Jason Myers. Sam Darnold picked up his first “stat” as a member of the Seahawks and we talk about some of our favorite throws from the game. Defensively, the Seahawks were able to contain Kyler Murray and get consistent pressure through the first three quarters. Riq Woolen was again targeted late in the game and Devon Witherspoon was in coverage on some late receptions that allowed the Cardinals to get back in the game. Is there a need for a shakeup in the secondary? Finally, we look ahead a bit to the Bucs who come to town after the Seahawks get some extra rest going into their next matchup.

Nathan Santo from the Seahawks Nest Podcast returns to the show for a lively discussion about the Seattle Seahawks and their quarterback situation. With Sam Darnold now in the mix, Nathan shares his long-standing belief in Darnold's potential and how his time with the 49ers may have prepared him for success in Seattle. Does Sam have the offensive line and the weapons in Seattle to succeed? We touch on the Seahawks' pass catchers including the impact of Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Cooper Kupp and the potential of new additions like Tory Horton and Marquez Valdez-Scantling. We also discuss Jalen Milroe as Nathan believes that coach Mike Macdonald my be using some misdirection when it comes to using Jalen Milroe in a Taysom Hill role.

As the Seattle Seahawks wrap up their first week of OTAs, it's notable how excited Seahawks fans are about the 2025 team. In this week's show, we pull some of our favorite quotes from press conferences from Abe Lucas, offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak, Sam Darnold and Ernest Jones. It was one quote in particular from Abe Lucas that has Adam really excited for the upcoming season and why our show has now anointed him as the Seahawks offensive ambassador. The message of the Seahawks using a fullback came through loud and clear via Abe as well as Sam Darnold. Klint Kubiak has taken note of Jalen Milroe's worth ethic and the early hours he's coming into the facility to work.

On the defensive side, coordinator Aden Durde talked about what it has meant for the team to have everyone on board for the voluntary portion of OTAs. But how important is it really? We're somewhat conflicted on the importance. We do note the importance of having a pair of linebackers who are in sync with each other. Ernest Jones talked about just how important Tyrice Knight has been in his own development, and how they've been improving their relationship in the offseason.

In the second half of the show, Sam Darnold reveals how good (or bad) of a golfer he is. It's the first time in the history of the show that we'll have a starting quarterback who seems to golf regularly. Lumen Field is getting nearly 20 million in upgrades next offseason for the World Cup, but it sounds like only one of the improvements will actually benefit a small portion of Seahawks fans. The audio equipment company Rode is highlighted in the Do Better segment along with organization highlighting mock draft content for 2026. Better at life honors go out to the Steelers organization (for maybe the only time) and to our Seahawks for highlighting its 50th Season game for the upcoming year.

How about the necessity of a suffocating defense or the significance of a strong offensive line? Seahawks OTAs kick off this week, so as the team gets together there are some key storylines and nuggets that we're going to be on the lookout for. The rookie form of Grey Zabel is high on that list along with the focus on quarterback and what we're hearing about Sam Darnold, versus Drew Lock versus Jalen Milroe. Could Lock's experience with this team give him an edge over the other two quarterbacks in the way they interact as a team? Defensively, we talk about some of the key things we want to hear about along the defensive line, despite their inability to put on pad and bang around like we see in the preseason.

List season creep has begun. Usually it waits until after OTAs and the mandatory minicamp, but we have a couple lists where Sam Darnold makes an appearance. We talk about where he ranks out on the PFF list of 32 NFL starting quarterbacks and the top 10 most risky free agent signings. We also talk about why two former Seahawks are above Darnold on both lists and how it may lead the way for how the media views this Seahawks roster until the start of the season.

In the second half of the show, we discuss a few of the rules changes. The NFL has expanded the number of plays that can be reviewed, but only if a flag is thrown. Touchbacks are now coming out to the 35-yard line. If teams and kickers don't start putting the ball in the landing zone, should the NFL penalize teams the same as when they kick it out of bounds? In the Do Better segment, we get into one other list that calls out one move the Seahawks should make and Amazon is password protecting the ability for people to change the time on their devices. Closing the show with Better at Life, we talk about the scientists behind the James Webb telescope and a former Seahawks player who is now an author on the subject of gardening.

With a vote of 22-10, NFL owners fell 2 votes short of the mandatory 24 votes to “Ban the Tush Push.” Some are surprised that Seattle ownership voted to ban it. Everyone has an opinion, no one seems to remember NFL history, and we'll be talking about the league's most infamous play. Should it or shouldn't it be banned? Plus, we get into the other NFL rules that were changed or upheld this week. And finally, are there any rules or changes to the game that should be on the NFL's radar? We get into it on this week's show.

The excitement of the Seattle Seahawks' 2025 schedule release is nearly here! We know the opponents, but we don't know when we play them. We talk about the dynamics that would go into the perfect 2025 Seahawks schedule based on when we'd like to face certain teams and weather considerations early and late in the year. Which away game would we most like to head to, and which city does Clinton want to avoid so he doesn't get mugged? We talk about potential matchups against the Vikings, Saints, and division rivals like the 49ers and Rams. Also, are the Seahawks about to start dropping season ticket holders that sell a majority of their tickets and will it be an effective strategy to maintain a home field advantage?

The Seahawks got a 400 passing yard performance by Geno Smith and a three touchdown rushing performance by Ken Walker and they still lost by two scores to the Detroit Lions. Key injuries along the defensive line limited the pass rush and allowed Jared Goff to have a perfect performance on the day. An early fumble by DK Metcalf put the Seahawks behind early, but in previous weeks we saw the defense help limit the points given up from mistakes on offense. In addition to the three touchdowns, Kenneth Walker had an incredible broken tackle that still has us in disbelief that he never touched the ground.

The Seattle Seahawks are off to a fast start this season, and have a 3-0 record for the first time since their Super Bowl-winning season. Can this be a team we see in the postseason, or is there more that we need to see in terms of resilience and growth over this next stretch of games? Even if these first three games don't have fans looking ahead to the postseason, the rest of the NFL isn't showing us that there are many complete teams. One mark of an elite defensive team is the ability to limit points (especially against the bad teams) and that part of the team appears to be legit through these three games.

Looking ahead to the matchup with the Detroit Lions, it offers the Seahawks an opportunity for an early season signature victory – on the road on Monday Night Football. Geno Smith has put together some strong performances at Ford Field and we're going to look for that to continue against some questionable members of the Lions secondary. But can the offensive line hold up against one of the top pass rushers in the league right now? We'll see how offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb handles that test.

In the second half of the show, we take a moment to enjoy our status at the top of the NFC West while looking at the situation the San Francisco 49ers find themselves in. Could this be the start of the implosion that we've been predicting? The Cardinals had people thinking they were an offensive juggernaut, until they were shut down by the Lions defense. Do better call outs go to a betting site for having Seattle among their top destinations for a quarterback trade and to the Dolphins head coach. Better at life honors go out to an executive producer and to DK Metcalf for an honest moment in a press conference and dedication to improving on an area of his game that paid off this week.

Our Seahawks have done it again! The Seahawks put up 17 points in the first quarter and looked like they were going to cost to victory while hammering the Miami Dolphins. It was only the defense that would dominate the next two quarters. When the Dolphins offense looked like it might climb within one score of the game, the defense turned them away at the goal line and the offense closed the game out. This week's episode dives deep into the game, highlighting our stellar defense that kept Miami at bay and the key offensive plays that secured the win.

The Seattle Seahawks secured a 23-20 victory over the New England Patriots, pushing them to the top of the NFC West. This week, we get into the key moments that defined the game, breaking down Geno Smith's exceptional day and the defensive plays that turned the tide in the Seahawks' favor. Geno put on a show, completing 33 of 44 passes for 327 yards and a touchdown, and receivers DK Metcalf and Jaxon Smith-Njigba also had strong performances and DK's 56-yard touchdown standing out as one of the game's biggest highlights.

Ryan Grubb's scheme opened up opportunities for JSN throughout the game, which helped offset a lack of a dominant running game. We discuss whether or not this was a one-time thing, or if we're starting to trend toward a full-on passing offense when Ken Walker isn't in the backfield. Defensively, the Seahawks racked up 21 total pressures and three sacks. Boye Mafe, Leonard Williams and Byron Murphy were disrupting the Patriots' offense, while Julian Love's key block of a field goal attempt and his work in run support helped the Seahawks stay in the game. Special teams also came up big, with Jason Myers knocking through three crucial field goals and Dee Williams delivering a strong punt return.

The Miami Dolphins are up next. Can Skylar Thompson take over for Tua and be the backup quarterback that ends up delivering the type of performance that Seahawks fans dread? It's going to be another big test for the Seahawks to stop De'Von Achane who could be catching a lot of short passes out of the backfield.

In the second half of the show, we celebrate the Seahawks atop the division with the 49ers falling to the Minnesota Vikings and the Rams falling to the cellar in the NFC West. We shout out some of the flockers we ran into during our trip to Boston, and get a shoutout from a gathering in Sweden. We fight narratives in the football world and in space in the Do Better segment. A TikTok star, YouTube and the NFL all share the stage in this week's Better at Life.

DK, JSN, and Geno did most of the heavy lifting on offense this Sunday. We had a case of the dropsies, couldn't run the ball effectively, but we got the big stops when we needed and our Seahawks exited Foxboro with a 23-20 W to go to 2-0 on the early season. On the defensive side, the Seahawks had a mixed day. While they struggled to contain the Patriots' run game, they excelled with the pass rush and limited the Patriots' passing attack. Hunter Henry was a thorn in their side early on, but the Seahawks' secondary, led by Riq Woolen and Devon Witherspoon, held strong against the Patriots' wide receivers. Julian Love came up big on multiple occasions. Not only did he block a field goal, he was responsible for some big tackles in the secondary.

From Tyler Lockett's game-sealing one-handed catch to Kenneth Walker's dynamic second-half performance, we cover some of the biggest highlights from the Seahawks 26-20 victory over the Denver Broncos. While the defense was borderline dominant the entire game, the offense found a rhythm in the second half by shifting toward the run game. On defense, Julian Love and Tyrel Dodson were flying all over the field while Riq Woolen came up with a clutch interception at the end.

The New England Patriots are up next and coming off an upset victory over the Bengals. Did we see the real Patriots or was it just a fluke? That'll be something we'll get into more toward the middle of the week.

The wait is over! The 2024 NFL season is here, and we're kicking things off with our focus on the Seattle Seahawks Week 1 matchup against the Denver Broncos. The offensive firepower of Kenneth Walker and DK Metcalf under new offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb have us particularly excited after watching the first team offense in the preseason. We thought we couldn't be more hyped for the start of the season. But it turns out there was an announcement this week that has us even more excited to see our team on the field for the home opener.

What will the debut of rookie quarterback Bo Nix look like against the Seahawks new defensive strategies under Mike Macdonald? Will Grubb's strategy lean towards a high-octane passing game or will he balance it with a powerful ground attack? These are just a couple of the questions that we explore. Plus, a look at which Seahawks were signed to the practice squad after the 53-man roster was set last week.

In the second half of the episode, we talk about two lists that had some of us riled up to close out the preseason. It's also pick'em season! Go to seahawkerspodcast.com and click the link there to join us. Our league overlord makes an appearance to start the season to explain a couple of the important rules, plus the consequences for not following her orders. Do better call outs go to the media for always leaving the NFC West out until the end of coverage and to the coverage of an attempted robbery of a rookie wide receiver. Adam has an announcement about being wrong in his Better at Life segment and a former rival appears to be changing his stripes during his media appearances.

The Seahawks wrapped up their preseason with a thrilling 37-33 victory over the Cleveland Browns. We dive into the highs and lows of this high-scoring affair. Geno Smith and the starting offense displayed lightning-quick efficiency of their opening drive. Geno's precision, especially his connection with JSN, and his recognition of one-on-one coverage with the DK Metcalf touchdown has us all intrigued for the first week of the season.

Despite some concerns, like the injury to Uchenna Nwosu and the penalties that marred the game, there were plenty of positives. Kenny McIntosh's 56-yard scamper and D'Wayne Eskridge's punt return showcased the scoring potential. On the defensive side, Jarran Reed's sack, facilitated by Leonard Williams, was a top highlight.

Get ready for the Seahawks 2024 season with all the insights you need in our annual season expectation show! We break down each position group, and discuss the impact of the new coaching staff. From Geno Smith's potential comeback player of the year chances to the dynamic wide receiver trio of DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett, and Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Running backs also get their fair share of attention. Kenneth Walker and Zach Charbonnet are expected to be dynamic forces in both the running and passing game.

Defensively, the excitement continues starting with the defensive backs and the top corners in particular. The linebacker group, while a bit more uncertain, shows some promise. The defensive line, however, is where the most potential for dominance exists. ‘

In the latter half of the show, we talk about some of the changes we've seen with the new coaching staff and how some fans are approaching those differences. Do better call outs go out to Facebook/Meta and to a writer who is in the pocket of all-you-can-eat deals. We close out Better at Life honoring an 11-year-old for his football skills. Plus, a member of the flock joins in to thank the Seahawks and USAA for a unique training camp experience.

The Seattle Seahawks kicked off their preseason with a bang, securing a 16-3 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers. Winning is better than losing (even in the preseason), especially when it comes with such a dominant defensive performance. Special teams also had their moments in the spotlight. Michael Dickson was in mid-season form, delivering some impressive punts, including one that pinned the Chargers down at their own two-yard line.

On the offensive side, Sam Howell took the reins for the first half and part of the second, completing 16 of 27 passes for 130 yards and a touchdown. The running game saw Kenny McIntosh and George Holani competing for the third-string job, with McIntosh finishing with eight carries for 40 yards and Holani six carries for 24 yards. We also get into the performances on defense, as rookies D.J. James and Byron Murphy had standout plays for the Seahawks.

Coach Macdonald is playing a game of Guess Who? or rather Guess What!? at Seahawks practices. We discuss how this emphasis on situational football can do for our Seahawks and we manage to make fun of the 49ers along the way.

Preseason football games have officially kicked off. While the Hall of Fame game might not have caught everyone's attention, the buzz around the Seahawks' training camp certainly has. We dive into the latest news from camp and the relief of dodging a major bullet with Geno Smith's injury scare. While some initial reports suggested that Geno was “out indefinitely,” Adam Schefter's report on Friday provided some relief.

Despite reaching the NFC Championship game four out of the last five years and making it to two Super Bowls, the 49ers have yet to secure a championship ring. In the third and final episode of the 2024 Know Your Rival series, we break down the 49ers' playoff woes, Kyle Shanahan's legacy, and what to expect this season. Will the Seahawks or Rams find a way to overtake the Niners and win the division? Can the 49ers overcome their history of choking in big games?

We discuss many of the 49ers' offseason moves, particularly the changes on their defensive line. The loss of key players like Eric Armstead and Javon Kinlaw could be a significant blow, especially when combined with the aging roster. The hosts discuss how these changes might affect the 49ers' ability to dominate in the trenches.

In the second half of the show, we talk Seahawks training camp and the lack of news around the signing of Connor Williams. Byron Murphy was involved with thwarting an online extortion scheme, which could prove to be useful if we deploy it against our division rivals. Do better call outs go to Brock Purdy and the NFL Network, while Better at Life honors go to scientists for their new findings about Mercury and to a Mariners fan for unselfishly giving up a milestone baseball to a rival.

For Seattle Seahawks fans, there's a special kind of ‘sports hate' reserved for the Los Angeles Rams. In the latest episode of our Know Your Rival series, we break down everything you need to know about the Rams from coaching and personnel changes to some of the hype surrounding their upcoming season. Can the Seahawks new Head Coach Mike Macdonald solve Hair Gel McVay's offense? At the very least, now that Aaron Donald has retired, it should make scoring points on a weakened LA defense that much easier.

In the second half of the show, we discuss Jamal Adams and his new home, plus the date and opponent of the throwback jersey game has been announced. Some nearby woodpeckers and an entire town both need to Do Better. Finally, Better at Life honors go out to a legend of his industry who recently passed away and to Slate for putting a spotlight on “window seat wasters.”

It's Know Your Rival season and we are kicking things off with a deep dive look at the Arizona Cardinals. Despite some potentially smart draft picks, the Cardinals' decision to stick with Kyler Murray and a difficult start to their 2024 schedule may doom their chances in the NFC West. But that wouldn't be anything new to the franchise. How does the Cardinals roster stack up? While they've made some major changes by jettisoning long-time veterans, could they still make a significant leap.

In the second half of the show, we talk about potential ownership changes for the Seahawks and have some fun with hypothetical presidential tickets that includes a former member from the Legion of Boom era. Callouts to do better go out toward a nonsensically vindictive state politician and a current NBA player. Tune in to find out why Gardner Minshew and the Seahawks organization are “Better At Life.”

Before Russell Wilson left Seattle, he appeared to be on a trajectory toward the Hall of Fame. Nine Pro Bowl seasons, two Super Bowl appearances and a championship put him into some elite company among NFL quarterbacks. But is his Hall of Fame candidacy now in jeopardy due to his recent seasons? And how do fans really feel about his legacy in Seattle? Some fans refuse to place him on their Mount Rushmore of top Seahawks players. Is this refusal purely analytical or is it based on emotion? If Russ doesn't belong among the team's top four, do some Seahawks fans even want him in the HOF?

Seahawks OTAs wrapped up this week and we had a chance to hear from a few players on offense, as well as our new offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb. We heard a consistent message from players like Geno Smith, Pharoah Brown and Sam Howell about the offense being “quarterback friendly” which translates into a lot of downfield throws. But Grubb's message was a little bit different in talking about play action and having to adjust from the college to the professional game. Can both these things be true or is something missing?

We also picked up on a trait that stands out from Coach Grubb in his transition from college to the NFL. It's a personality trait that a lot of the failed college coaches don't seem to have. We learned this week that head coach Mike Macdonald has dreams about some of his Seahawks players, and he made a tactical decision to avoid naming names. Jay Harbaugh talked extensively about the new kick off rule and we're here to talk about the highlights (we may even want to talk about this more on future shows).

In the second half of the show, we have an announcement regarding the games we plan to meet up with the Flock at during the 2024 season. We're looking at going to at least one road game and one home game. We call out a writer at CBS for a trade strategy that doesn't make much sense for the 2024 season and a national chain for randomly inserting themselves into random transactions. Better at life honors go out to a GPS company and for a moment from Mike Macdonald that made us say, “That's our coach!”

OTAs are underway and the Seahawks sent Geno Smith, Rayshawn Jenkins, and Multiple Mike to the podium to share updates and impressions from the early days of the Macdonald era. What were the biggest clues? Does Macdonald actually like Geno or is he dropping hints that Howell is a long term answer? And with a crowded safety room is Rayshawn an early chosen leader? We cover that and much more on this episode of the Sea Hawkers Podcast.

A recent poll by SB Nation says that around 70% of Seahawks fans have expectations for the team to make the playoffs in 2024. As a first year head coach, is that a reasonable expectation for Mike Macdonald? What are some of the wild card factors that are playing into a potential Wild Card match? We also take a look at one of the reasons why fans should be excited — because there aren't a lot of teams who should be considered a “playoff lock.” It's such an open playing field that even the Chicago Bears with a rookie quarterback are favorite to make the playoffs.

The 2024 NFL Schedule is out and that means we have at least 18 weeks of Seahawks football planned out for the fall. We give a mini preview of each week's slate of matchups before getting into what everyone really wants to know — how the NFL is out to ensure our Seahawks get buried in the standings. While the schedule is front-loaded with a lot of home matchups, Seattle's opponents are getting consistently more days to prepare for their games. We also discuss which games should be circled on the calendar and where we want to see our throwback uniforms highlighted.

As the dust settles on the 2024 NFL Draft, we dissect the Seahawks' draft strategy and the potential impact of the new recruits. A post draft show means draft calls! We hear the players' reactions and we talk about the numbers they'll be playing in. What does each player need to do to become the greatest Seahawks player to wear that number. Can they do it?

In the second half of the show, we talk about our Rookie Minicamp takeaways and why Mike Macdonald might be acting like Pete Carroll's age when it comes to running a practice. Austin Rivers made some waves this week talking about how NFL players would fare in the NBA and vice versa. But which sport would be the most difficult for any professional athlete to transition to and which athletes have the best chance to make it in all other sports?

Do Better call outs go toward any writers still trying to trade the Seahawks best players and to a Niners Nation writer for hyping an odd signing for the 49ers. Tune in to hear why Better at Life honors go to John Schneider and to our listeners for helping us reach a big milestone.

EJ Snyder of Bootleg Football returns to the show to break down the Seahawks draft class from his perspective. Did the Seahawks have any other choice but to draft Byron Murphy with their first round pick? EJ reveals where he had Christian Haynes graded out as a “true guard” among his list of draftable guards. Tyrice Knight may have been a head scratcher for some, but it was not a surprise for EJ based on the types of things he was asked to do in college. We go through the Seahawks draft class including the undrafted free agent (UDFA) class and talk about some of the players we see as most likely able to make the team and if they may be a better fit at a different position from college.

The Seahawks 2024 Draft Class is set and there were a few common themes that jumped out from their draft strategy. First, this may have been the most need-based draft the Seahawks have produced in recent years. They picked guards that play guard, they addressed the defensive line and linebacker all within their first few picks. Second, with many of these picks, they talked about their versatility. Does it give us some clues about what they may have planned for the offense and defense? We run through each of the day 3 picks and talk about some of our overall thoughts on this year's class.

It's a lot easier to project where a player will play in the NFL when they start at one position their entire college career. Christian Haynes is simply a right guard who was a four-year starter at the University of Connecticut. We discuss his athleticism that stood out in his workouts as well as on the field and how his play could provide an immediate upgrade for the Seahawks in the screen game. Will he supplant Anthony Bradford immediately this year? Plus, we discuss a couple names we're going to watch for with the Seahawks next two picks in the fourth round.

The top half of the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft skewed heavily toward the offense. Quarterbacks, wide receivers and offensive tackles made up the top 12 picks. Seattle stayed put as Byron Murphy II, the top interior defender in the draft, fell to them with the 16th overall pick. After taking Devon Witherspoon last year, the Seahawks have now taken the second defensive player off the board in back-to-back drafts. How will Murphy fit into a rotation that already includes Jarran Reed, Leonard Williams, Dre'Mont Jones, Johnathan Hankins, Cam Young, Mike Morris and Myles Adams?

Through the first three parts of our 2024 quarterback draft series, we've evaluated the top late-round picks all the way up to the QBs at the top of the draft. But where should the Seahawks get involved? It's possible at least four quarterbacks come off the board in the top 10. It could be even more, based on the number of QB-needy teams and the talent available. What would it take for the Seahawks to get into the top 10? If that's too spicy, would it be worth it to jump ahead of the Denver Broncos? Of course, John Schneider could just wait and see what shakes out — then take one of the biggest sleepers among our top seven quarterbacks.

Throughout the years, even if the Seahawks have needed a quarterback or not, we like to go through the latest crop of NFL quarterback candidates and pick out our favorites. Adam's track record has been solid and rather than bury it in one of our flagship episodes, we're giving it it's own series. In part, because of the amount of depth in this year's 2024 class. We talk about the methodology for evaluating a quarterback, a couple of quarterbacks who may go late or undrafted, and where some of the other QBs may fit. This group fell outside of the Top 7 quarterbacks we'll be talking about on future episodes.

The Seahawks signed a veteran receiver Laviska Shenault to the roster this past week. Should we read into the signing as to what may be in store for the Seahawks offense, or is he some insurance in case another receiver doesn't work out? John Schneider was on the radio this week and talked in generalities about the draft and based on his comments, we aren't likely to see any drastic changes in draft strategy. It's clear to fans the team could use a versatile offensive lineman early in the draft, but will the Seahawks general manager follow that same line of thought?

The NFL passed some new rules this week around bringing the kickoff back into the game and taking out swivel hip drop tackles. Seems like a fair trade off. We're getting closer to having a sky judge with another rule change that, if it goes well, most of us won't even notice that it's working. General Manager John Schneider says the offensive line is a work in progress, but there isn't much that can be done to improve it apart from the draft. But the draft won't be able to fix the amount of inexperience on the line heading into the 2024 season. Coach Mike Macdonald says the defense needs a solid spine. That could be another area that could continue to be improved through the draft. Finally, the waffles versus pancakes debate should be over. But is it time to introduce a new entrant into the mix?

Now that the NFC West has passed through the first couple waves of free agency, we run down some of the biggest moves by the Seattle Seahawks competitors. Did the Los Angeles Rams win free agency by spending on the offensive line? Or are they the biggest losers because their Hall of Fame defender decided to pack up his locker and call it a career? The Arizona Cardinals have four new starters in the trenches. It would be bigger news if they were players you've actually heard of. Plus, they may have made the most boneheaded trade in the entire conference. Then there's the San Francisco 49ers. They're making some key moves, but they didn't do the one thing that could help them overcome a devastating Super Bowl loss.

We take a look at a few areas the Seahawks still need to address through free agency and the draft. Plus, we clear any confusion surrounding the role of Pete Carroll and the Seahawks organization moving forward. Mike Macdonald and John Schneider are working to clear up any confusion around which player is the starting quarterback between Geno Smith and Sam Howell.

In the second half of the show, the take a look at the proposed rule against hip drop tackles and some language that is important to identifying the types of tackles the NFL is trying to get out of the game. A Rams fan who doesn't understand the position of nose tackle and the Seahawks front office both land in this week's Do Better segment. We profile a Missouri-based company as well as a Montana-based organization for their Better at Life worthy actions.

In the past week the Seahawks made a move to fill a large hole in the defensive line. The addition of Johnathan Hankins adds some beef, but have the Seahawks done enough yet to satisfy all aspects of the trenches? They also added another linebacker and some safety depth. What do those additions mean to the overall strength of the team and their ability to improve the defense in 2024. Days into free agency, the Seattle Seahawks have worked to try and fill holes at positions of need. They needed a backup quarterback with Drew Lock heading to New York, and now they have Sam Howell after swapping picks with Washington. George Fant is returning to the Seahawks, but will he be able to find his way into a starting role? Seattle signed a center/guard, a safety and a linebacker. Are they clear improvements or a sign of the franchise rebuilding? Plus they made moves to bring back Artie Burns, Darrell Taylor and D'Wayne Eskridge.

The Seattle Seahawks kick off their 2023 campaign with a matchup against the division rival Los Angeles Rams. Even though the NFL tried to do the Rams a favor by pitting them against Seattle to kick off the year, Cooper Kupp may not play in this game due to a hamstring injury. Even if their top wideout sits out, we should learn some things about the Seahawks secondary vs Matt Stafford.

Cam Akers rushed for more than 100 yards against the Seahawks defense last year. It gives Bobby Wagner the perfect opportunity to draw a contrast to last year's squad. We'll also learn some things about the Rams if Geno takes the opportunity to go after this young secondary. We also discuss how upset this game could potentially make us if some of our offseason fears are realized.

The 49ers could struggle out of the gate if they don't have their top pass rusher signed. Is it possible that the holdout lasts beyond the first two weeks of the season? The Arizona Cardinals are likely to struggle through the entire season and it may be intentional. Our pick'em league overlord lays down the rules for this year's league. You don't want to face the punishment that awaits if you mess up. A former Seahawks player and PFF are in the crosshairs of Do Better. Jerrick Reed talked about giving up video games to dive into the playbook while Olu Oluwatimi talked about the transition from a pro style offense playing at Michigan.

Our Seahawks seemed to take a “Good to Great” approach in this year's draft often choosing best player available even in areas where the team was already quite good. It didn't take long for John Schneider to showcase this philosophy taking elite Illinois cornerback with the 5th pick overall in the 2023 draft. We discuss how this thumper fits and what it does to a unit that was already well above average and what his presence allows for defensively as we head into the 2023 season. We also address why the Seahawks would have passed on addressing another key need and the draft trade that told us all we needed to know about the player.

The Seahawks selected 10 players in the 2023 NFL Draft and split them evenly between the offense and defense. Did they improve in the biggest areas of need or was they picking strictly at best player available?

Here's a look at the Seahawks 2023 NFL Draft class:

  • R1·Pick 5(5) – CB Devon Witherspoon
  • R1·Pick 20(20) – WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba
  • R2·Pick 6(37) – OLB Derick Hall
  • R2·Pick 21(52) – RB Zach Charbonnet
  • R4·Pick 6(108) – G Anthony Bradford
  • R4·Pick 21(123) – DT Cameron Young
  • R5·Pick 16(151) – DE Mike Morris
  • R5·Pick 19(154) – C Olu Oluwatimi
  • R6·Pick 21(198) – S Jerrick Reed II
  • R7·Pick 20(237) – RB Kenny McIntosh

In a draft with a record number of trades, John Schneider only managed one move and it was to give up a third round pick for a future third rounder. Did he miss on his evaluation of where certain position groups would come off the board? In some cases the Seahawks kicked off big runs on position groups. We discuss the philosophy behind this draft strategy, our favorite picks, and the only real grade you can give this year's draft.

Coming into the offseason the Seahawks faced questions about improving their run defense and whether or not they would stick with Geno Smith or pursue a quarterback with their early draft pick. Smith's contract paired with Drew Lock's return suggests that the most likely outcome is to continue to find pieces to win with Geno. Being in a similar situation didn't stop them from pursuing a quarterback in 2012. However, going for top prospect on defense, bolstering the offensive line and getting another offensive weapon helps set a more focused plan to compete in relatively weak conference in 2023.

We go through some scenarios regarding how the Seahawks could approach the draft and talk about why the team is putting in the effort to scout some of the top quarterbacks in the class. Adam is certain that Anthony Richardson would need multiple seasons to develop into a potential quarterback. Similarly, Trey Lance is trying to work back into the starting lineup in Santa Clara, but he'll have to get reps over Sam Darnold if Brock Purdy isn't going to be ready for the 2023 season.

In the second half of the show, we talk about some of the NFL's latest rule changes and one rule they opted to remain unchanged. In Do Better, we talk about the shift away from allowing people to work from home and a recent mock draft that may have questionable motives. Better at Life honors go out to the flock and to Bobby Wagner for his return to Seattle.

Bobby Wagner is back with the Seahawks! Brent Taylor, editor at the Alabama Crimson Tide SB Nation site Roll Bama Roll, joins us to talk about the return of Bobby as well as the Alabama Pro Day from last week. There's one player, particularly in terms of his versatility, that Brent has his eye on. Two Alabama players are expected to go in the top 5, and may even go before Seattle picks, as Will Anderson and Bryce Young are two of the top college players on defense and offense respectively. But should the Seahawks move up to take Young or take him if he slides to the 5th spot? Brent has a strong opinion on this based on his comparisons to Russell Wilson's game.

As we put a bow on the 2022 season for the Seahawks, we talk about some of the milestones the team hit and the excitement for the future considering the rookies that showed potential. But will Geno Smith be a part of the Seahawks future? Should he be part of the future if the team's goal is to win a Super Bowl sometime in the next three years.

We take a look at the data in what successful teams have done in recent years and found that drafting a quarterback in the top 10 is a much bigger risk than drafting a defensive player in that same range. Plus, it has generally taken a top defense in points allowed to make a deep run into the postseason.

With free agency a topic to discuss over the next few weeks, we take our first look at the players who would be key for Seattle to re-sign and which ones could walk. There's one player in particular the Seahawks could go after if they wanted to make a big splash in free agency (if that player is available. But it would also be fun if they traded for another future first rounder to give us another team that we could cheer for their demise.

To close the show, a former Seahawks player and the Panini trading card company get called out to Do Better. Finally, the latest space effort and the fundraising drive by our Flock get the Better at Life honors.

But in true 3 IN, 3 OUT fashion, it's not at all, all bad. There was some great in this game that will propel us as we head into the 2023 season.

The Seattle Seahawks closed out their 2022 campaign with a playoff loss, and they gave us a glimmer of hope that they could move on to the next round. With a 17-16 lead coming out of the first half, the Seahawks fumbled away a chance to match the 49ers first touchdown of the second half. With the defense unable to make a stop after halftime, the offense never had a chance. One bit of good news, was that this game demonstrated a major area of need for the Seahawks to address this offseason.

While watching Satan's Championship last weekend, we learned some things about ourselves that we're not proud to admit. Regardless, we discuss how we ended up having some disappointment surrounding the outcome with the Los Angeles Rams going to the Super Bowl. Can the Cincinnati Bengals save us from what feels inevitable?

The news about the Seahawks defensive coordinator spot came out after we recorded this week, and we discuss the situation around former Dolphins head coach Brian Flores. While that may not have prevented him from taking a job in Seattle, his lawsuit didn't have any impact on our desire for him to take over coaching the Seahawks defense.

Richard Sherman says that fans ready to move on from Pete Carroll need to be careful about what they wish for. He also seems to have heard from enough Seahawks fans about his departure and speculation about when it's time to move on from a star player that he went on a significant rant on his podcast with Cliff Avril as his guest.

Hopefully next year at this time, we're talking about how silly it was to even be discussing the idea of moving on from Coach Carroll. Russell Wilson seems to have burned to the ground any concerns about whether or not his finger will cause him to have any lingering accuracy issues as he dominated the Pro Bowl skills competition. A worldwide developer and Scott Zolak need to do better this week. Alternatively, an owl and his Montana friend along with Richard Sherman are all better at life.

Seahawks fans got what might be the worst possible outcome for this year's NFC Championship game. While there wasn't a whole lot of love for long-time greats Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers, having one of your rivals guaranteed to make the Super Bowl makes it a tough game to watch. However, Tom Brady is upstaging the entire weekend after a report by ESPN said that he would be retiring this offseason. His TB12 Sports account congratulated Tom and then deleted the tweet when word came out that a decision has not been made. Multiple teammates even came out praising his time in the league. Were they not able to check in with him to know for sure if he's retiring? Why can't Brady just announce his decision and have a press conference when he's ready?

There's a general attitude among some Seahawks fans that the franchise's general manager John Schneider is bad at drafting NFL talent. We go through some of the recent drafts to see if that narrative is correct. What's the best way to determine if Schneider is better than your average GM at picking players?

In the second half of the show, we talk about why overtime rules are so hotly debated and why the current rule is fine as is even though there are some intriguing options being discussed. Closing the show we call out eBay and a writer for suggesting there are reasons to cheer for the Rams. Better at life honors go to the NFL (albeit sarcastically) and to Secret Base for a glorious 15-minute reminder of one of their greatest and most improbable comeback victories.

The Seahawks franchise may not have made the kind of coaching change that some fans were calling for this offseason, but they did make the move that we figured would be the most likely. Defensive coordinator Ken Norton Jr. is out after spending 2010-2014 as linebackers coach for the team and as DC since his return in 2018. Seattle will also be looking for a new coach in the secondary and at quarterback coach.

So where do they go next? Do they promote from within? Do they hire a coach who Pete Carroll has history with? Or do they find someone with head coaching experience that can collaborate with Pete Carroll and offer a dynamic we haven't quite seen during his time in Seattle? We discuss why finding a coordinator with head coaching experience is preferred over someone who has never made the jump from coordinator to head coach.

In the second half of the show, we discuss the playoff games that our NFC West rivals took part in and how the divisional round should be the end of their playoff journey. A former Seahawks player gets a strong Do Better, and we question why media members at Dak Prescott's press conference didn't seem to be too concerned with his post-game commentary until the following day. Better at Life honors go out to a long-time listener for finding evidence of the NFL's favoritism in Rams coverage and to the developers at Google for honoring a legend.

Where was that team all season? The Seahawks showed emotion, they showed an ability to come back despite adversity, and they demonstrated how they can dominate a team on the ground to set things up for deep shots down field. We got a peak at what we thought this offense could be before the season started. We even saw a competent pass rush in the second half versus Arizona. They even did it without some of their top defensive talent.

So what does it mean for the offseason? Who will be coming back in 2022? Who should the Seahawks want to bring back next year? The game against Arizona showed the one area of the team that needs to be at peak performance for the entire year and should be the biggest focus of the offseason (which also should have been the biggest focus of the previous offseason).

With an expectation that Pete Carroll and Russell Wilson will return next season, what is one big change the franchise should make considering their last place finish in the NFC West? Based on history, it's something we should have an answer about toward the middle of next week if there is going to be a change. Plus, we look at some of the key free agents and some ballpark numbers of what we think they'll sign for ahead of (or in) free agency.

In the second half of the show, we discuss the list of teams we'd be interested in seeing making a run at the Super Bowl and the only team in the NFC we can moderately cheer for. What's the worst possible Super Bowl matchup? Finally, our team's terrible schedule luck and a rival stadium need to Do Better. Plus, an author with a unique philosophy and a Seattle Kraken fan are each Better at Life.

The Seahawks scored more than 50 points in a game for just the fifth time in franchise history. The victory over the Lions gave us a glimpse of what the Seattle offense could look like with an o-line that had the ability to routinely dominate their opponent. But we did see things happen against the Lions that happened all too often during the regular season that remain a cause for concern.

Pete Carroll said he doesn't have to mess with the reports of Russ going anywhere this offseason, because he says he knows what's actually going on and doesn't need to follow the agendas of others. However, is Russell Wilson providing fuel for that speculation through some of his recent commentary?

Seattle now travels down to Arizona for the final game of the regular season and the opportunity to close the season out with a win (something that hasn't happened since the 2013 season). Hopefully Colt McCoy isn't back under center. We're also hoping for a Rams win this weekend? Gross. We touch on the Antonio Brown scene that happened in New York and discuss why Brown is the more sympathetic figure in this scenario.

We close the show with Adam calling out a law that could ban a carbon neutral source of home heat in the winter and a reality star who is giving up her professions rather than scaling back operations to reasonable level. Better at life honors go to the great Betty White for being a friend to us all.

It's another full team failure to discuss after a loss to the Bears on Sunday. While we continue to see the same issues week-to-week with the team, we wonder who (if anyone) will be held accountable in the offseason. The latest press conference this week with Pete Carroll makes it sound as though he doesn't feel any heat from ownership. Would it even make sense financially to make the move for the team?

The second half collapse by the team, gave us an opportunity to see if Russell Wilson could pull off another fourth quarter comeback. Unfortunately penalties and missed opportunities didn't even allow Seattle to get into a position to score. Can Russell Wilson get out of neutral and back into a winning mindset?

Two of the three division rivals are set up for first round losses in the playoffs, but we should have a chance to take a look at the 49ers rookie quarterback in some high-pressure situations. Is there any team in the NFC that we can stand to root for going into the playoffs? Adam is looking for an app to save his stories that offers “toddler level” understanding and Brandan is looking for more Nick Bellore videos. Better at life honors go out to a football icon.

The Los Angeles Rams (and the NFL) had a hand in the Seattle Seahawks finishing with their first losing season in Russell Wilson's career. From moving the game back from its originally scheduled time and giving more time for key Rams players to return to the field, the shift was already a clear disadvantage for the Seahawks. But with two key officiating calls, and many other questionable calls and non-calls, this game felt as rigged like no other game since the first Seahawks Super Bowl.

We talk about all of the questionable calls, the decision by the league and the NFLPA to shift the game and the moments where the team could have made plays to avoid yet another loss to the CATFISH-ING Rams. How will the team move forward going into next season? Who do we want to come back? We get the discussion going on what is likely to continue into and through the offseason.

Looking ahead to the Bears, we wonder how much we'll have to hear about the offseason trade rumors surrounding Russell Wilson going to Chicago. Would we take that trade a year later? And based on what we've seen from Seattle so far, can we expect the team to continue to play hard to finish the year?

In the second half of the show, we attempt to get over the frustration from this Tuesday's loss and wonder what would have happened if the outbreak in the Seattle facility had turned out as bad as the Rams after shifting the game. We take our frustration on the league in the Do Better segment for throwing the NFLPA under the bus and for jamming commercials into one of our favorite NFL podcasts. Better at Life honors go to a couple of awesome women in the world.

After the Seahawks 33-13 win over the Houston Texans, we're now starting to see the Seahawks show up in the ‘in the hunt' section of the playoff picture. But can they stay there especially with a division rival up next on the schedule? Clinton Bonner joins the show with Brandan this week, as Adam is on an extended work trip to recap the biggest plays from the Texans game.

Tyler Lockett's performance this season now puts his name among the top wide receivers in franchise history while Rashaad Penny showed us some reasons to be excited about what he could bring to the team down the stretch this year. Lockett may be out against the game coming up against the Rams, but they rules for players to return could offer hope for Tyler and others to play on Sunday. The biggest question coming into this game is how will (or will) Pete Carroll change things up after it seems the Rams have the Seahawks number.

We discuss what may be the best stat line range for Russell Wilson to seemingly be at his best, and talk about a Rams player who needs to be kept out of the end zone for Seattle to have their best chance to win. Finally, we take a couple listener emails in the latter part of the show, while Brandan talks about some of the experiences down in Houston for this past road game.

In a season where your team is 4-8 after 12 games, and since it's not a place we're used to being at, it feels important to mark the high points of a season. This latest win over the San Francisco 49ers may just have to be that high point we're looking for, because this game had everything. We list of the bingo card full of events that happened from Sunday's game and we probably still missed some key moments.

The Seahawks 30-23 victory really had no reason to be that close considering the number of turnovers and how they turned it over on the goal line multiple times. Fortunately Carlos Dunlap is able to come through as our closer and make some big plays on defense to get the win. Is the more aggressive version of Pete Carroll better for this Seahawks team if it means passing on a late field goal that could have ended the game? We also discuss the season-ending injury to Jamal Adams and the continued recovery of Russell Wilson.

There are two games left on the schedule that the Seahawks absolutely should not and cannot lose. This is one of those weeks as Seattle takes on the Houston Texans, the only team in the NFL mathematically eliminated from playoff contention. If the Texans play anything like they did against their division rivals last week when they faced the Colts, Seattle shouldn't have anything to worry about.

We discuss the playoff outlook for the Seahawks (as bleak as it is), while the 49ers are considered to have a better than 60% chance to get in. We take your emails and discuss some historic moments from the past few years that could have changed the direction of the team. A random Saints fan and Peter Schraeger need to ‘Do Better.' We close the show by honoring Joe Buck for his zinger to Peyton Manning and Robert Turbin for his second-half clairvoyance.

The Seattle Seahawks continue to lose, but they lost in a way this week that gave us hope in the end that they could pull out the win. Ultimately, there were too many mistakes by the offense, and it was another performance by the defense that allowed their opponent to work their way down the field with relative ease. The 17-15 loss to the Washington Football Team sends the Seahawks to 3-8 and just one loss from a losing season with six games left.

Pete Carroll had some commentary after the game that has Adam thinking that the offense was turned over to Russell Wilson and Shane Waldron. But does Pete have the formula for how to ultimately play winning football with some of the shifts we've seen in the NFL? What about the idea of moving toward starting Geno Smith and what that would mean for Wilson's future?

Next up on the schedule is the San Francisco 49ers and they're coming off wins over the Rams, Jaguars and Vikings. Can they continue their streak with a win in Seattle? Not only have they struggled against the Seahawks, they'll be without Deebo Samuel and Fred Warner.

In the second half of the show we talk about how the playoff picture is shaping up and then work through our “lock” of the week. The NFL Gamepass app and a writer covering the Patriots need to do better, while Better at Life honors go to the features of NFL satellite radio and the players participating in the My Cause My Cleats program.
