Mauricio Astorga, also know as The Black Jesus, is a freestyle DJ currently living in México. With an extremely rich musical background Mauricio is highly experienced in a wide array of genres such as; Latin, Afro Beat, Jazz Hop, Boogaloo, 70s 80s Groove and Funk. For over 5 years he has toured throughout Mexico, Djing in some of the most exclusive bars, restaurants and hotels. Mauricio has a completely unique concept when it comes to his DJ style. His sets not only consist of live mash-ups and edits on the fly, but he also adds his own tropical flavour by playing drum pads live.

In april 25, 2023. I got invited to perform a dj set over the sea at amazing Animalon, Production Company Coronel Creatives in colaboration with Rodrigo Montes organized a few experiences to Gin Las Californias to Baja California Sur, as part of that weeks itinerary was a 3 hour boat ride with amazing views and a powerful crew full of good vibes.

Soul Flower (Vocals) - Sexual (Inspiration) - Honored to use this Vocals essentially it stuck to me the phrase Freak The Funk, back in my days in Playa del Carmen, my friends Edwin and Alex were reborn as Freak the Freak a DJ Duo, always when i’d see them i would say “Freak The Funk” as the vocal says it, this song is for them.
Instruments used: Using the TB-03 and the TR-08 as the Bass and Drums, SH-01a for any other synths.

Hybrid set with machines tb 03 and tr 09, and pioneer dj booth 2000nxs2 , recorded directly through the usb to iPhone cable using the DJM app on the store. Mastering and Artwork by the Black Jesus.
Listening to Mongo's Chant to his Friend, i started thinking about what ever happened, who was he, where was he going after this moment, vocal repeats "Adios mi amigo del Alma" which translates to "Goodbye my soul-friend". Back in Baja California Sur I've had some awesome times in this place called "Nomada" in San Jose del Cabo... then i knew who's Mongo's friend was called "The Nomad".
Having Tulum's beach on my mind , i created this atmosphere through reverbs , were i could join both the organics of a 1972 song, drum-loops and chants, and the futuristic sound of the synths i used in the drums the TR-08, basslines by the SH-01A and the SE-02.
On behave of J. Dalton i traveled through space and time, went to his house and found out that the English Chemist idea about atoms could translate into music and sounds in particular, through layering samples i create a visual reality where you can enter rooms inside "Dalton's House" where you can hear conversations of the future, bolero waltz one the breakdown, flutes from the Inca Empire, Trumpets from the Caribbean and Love from me.
The Vocal Vocoder that runs through out this Track , says "Siento tu Cuerpo Cerca" "Aqui no puedo" "Playa" "Dalton" "Yeah" "C'Mon" all performed by The Black Jesús.
Sample "Lou Donaldson – Everything I Play Is Funky" in honor to Funky Mama in Queretaro on of the first i feel in love with.
