As it has been said "All good things must come to an end", in this case, it's just us. We've been on a hiatus for quite a while now, and have had discussions on where the show is going, what our plans are and have come to a decision together. After 10 years we're calling it, and retiring the show. This decision didn't come easy, when you do something weekly for ten years suddenly stopping is quite a change.
Mike, Patrick, Joel and Josh want to thank all the listeners we've had over the last year. When we started this in 2013 it was a fun thing for us to get together for and posting the shows was a bit of "We'll see if anyone listens". Well, you did, and we have loved hearing from all of you that shouted back at us, many of you have become part of our daily conversations on and off the podcast.
Which brings us to the "what next" part of things. We're shutting down our social medias, since we won't be there to respond to anything. If you'd like to keep in touch, our Discord (accessible at the link below) is where we will be. Over the years it's gone from us just posting new shows to discussion on everything from new TV and Movies, Drinks and traveling, to just cute stuff and trivia. Join us there, it's a good time.

The guys at '40 Going On 14' remember the one this movie is based on, and it's a doozy. However, what nobody told us is that Charles Durning was going to be our hero. Or that 75% of the film adaptation would be the journey of a man in search of Colleen Dewhurst. Who knew? In 2006 they remade this little terrifying tale. Did they crank up the crank calling chaos or did they get a dial tone? Why is Roy from the office not more helpful? Why didn't Agent Coulson just call on S.H.I.E.L.D.? In 2002, Jeremy Renner, cooked up a rather delicious performance in his direct to video junk food film simply called 'Dahmer'. In 2022, Ryan Murphy created a 10 episode smörgåsbord of a show with Evan Peters taking on the culinary curiosities of Jeffery Dahmer in 'Dahmer - Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story' on Netflix.
While not a monster in the traditional sense, these true tales of terror are heinous and horrific. Turn out the lights and load up on the snacks, as we're going to satisfy all of your podcast cravings as we scare up another OctoBoo episode.

It's time for some Michael Meyers! Yeahhhh BAYBAY! (wait, what?) I think I watched the wrong movies. This week it's the Halloween show! Not the holiday, but we'll get to that show eventually, this time it's the 1978 John Carpenter movie versus the 2007 Rob Zombie remake! Which Meyers comes out on top? Well, you'll have to listen to find out!
OctoBoo is upon us! In this first week of the most wonderful time of the year, we're enjoying a little 'Hocus Pocus'. The Sanderson Sisters have cast a spell over the hearts and minds of millions. Played by Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy, they're gleefully evil but a tad bit ignorant.
After years of waiting, Disney finally made a sequel to this Halloween classic. Mike, Pat, Joel and Josh are hopping on their respective brooms and heading into the night to discuss if it was worth the wait.
Is there still magic in that old vacuum cleaner? Will Billy be back? Why Walgreens and no CVS? This OctoBoo is off to a scary start with these witchy women. Toss all that in, along with questions like "Who remembers "Weak" by SWV? The worst movie of all time? I beg to differ, (At least Joel does.) but that is the nomenclature it has been saddled with. (Yes, we're reviewing "Plan 9 From Outer Space" this week, that 1957 Ed Wood sci-fi film that set the bar at a certain height.) Despite this, there was a remake in 2015 by the soon to be labeled genius, John Johnson (Don't hold your breath on this one.). There will be blood in this episode, as opinions vary wildly, Edward D. Wood Jr has that effect on people. Can you handle the unfiltered facts, as they are the truth of the present and in the future. If you're not familiar with either director, I'll leave you with the quote to end all quotes. In the words of Eros, "Strong’? You see? You see! Your stupid minds! Stupid! Stupid!"

We tend to break out into song, a lot. However, we're not much on dancing. If these movies have taught us anything, it's that in the 1950's, both things happened a LOT. Especially in the midst of gang violence and tragic love stories. In 1961, Robert Wise, Rita Moreno and Natalie Wood gave us the original West Side Story, an adaptation of this Broadway production. To sleep, perchance to dream. We all have to sleep, but do we all dream? On this very special episode of '40 Going On 14', we're wearing our comfy pajamas and snuggling up for some late night chatter about the art of sleeping & dreams.
How many hours a night do we need? What's our bedtime rituals? What the heck is up with night terrors? Who needs Freddy Krueger, when you've experienced this phenomenon!
We've spent a large portion of our lives in a state of slumber, so we pretty much think we're experts. Pull the blankets up around your head and pull your feet under the covers. It's the sleeping and dreams sho…. zzzz….
Back in the 80's Eddie Murphy was "a thing", everyone knew his Gumby and Mr. Robinson's Neighborhood from SNL, and he had started a solid movie career with 48 Hours, Trading Places and Beverly Hills Cop. He had also stepped into music with Party All The Time, starring Eddie and Rick James. (and more recently My Name Is Dolomite! Check out that show HERE!) But then, he teamed up with Arsenio Hall, who was rising to the top of his game also, hosting The Arsenio Hall Show which ran from '89-'94, and also voicing Winston Zeddmore on the Real Ghostbusters! (Remember that?!)
The result of that sweet, sweet paring of "guys who like to play dress up" was Coming To America, the heartwarming rom-com(?) of Prince Akeem and his search for true love in Queens. It was a hit, and grossed over $288M worldwide, so the sequel Coming 2 America (see what they did?) was no surprise. In this Amazon Original Prince Akeem is back on the trail in Queens, but this time looking for the son he did not know he had!

A true classic film is something that just happens. During the 70's Jack Nicholson was at the peak of his game and when he teamed up with Milos Forman, magic was made and the world was given 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest'. This last year, Ryan Murphy and Sarah Paulson had a similar team up with 'Ratched'.
The prequel, of sorts, based on the Louise Fletcher character from the film. Is it a classic as well? You'll have to listen to this episode '40 Going On 14' to find out! Years ago, we discovered a game that allowed us to become someone else, a fighter, ranger, swashbuckler, thief, or wizard. Dungeons & Dragons! This game introduced us to worlds of our own creation, monsters that needed slaying, princesses that needed saving and treasure that needed looting, or in some of our cases, just outright stealing.
The game (and others like it!) were central in bringing the four of us together, and to this day we still play. In this episode the guys talk about #D&D that is, Dungeons & Dragons and D&D Beyond!
