The Prairieland Paranormal Podcast is an exploration into all things paranormal with dramatic storytelling, historical research, relevant science, and witness accounts.
In southern New Jersey, there are reports of a very strange and unique cryptid. This legendary creature is called the Jersey Devil or Leeds Devil and is said to reside in the Pine Barrens where it has been seen periodically over the last 250 years. In this episode, we will discuss the legend of the Jersey Devil and take a look at several other legends surrounding the Pine Barrens of Southern New Jersey.

The Philadelphia Experiment is an alleged military experiment that was carried out by the U.S. Navy in the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard sometime around October 28, 1943. During the experiment, the U.S. Navy destroyer escort USS Eldridge was reportedly rendered invisible and teleported to Norfolk, Virginia for several minutes before reappearing back in the Philadelphia shipyard. While conspiracy theorists insist that the events actually occurred and were covered up by the US Government, the U.S. Navy maintains that no such experiment was ever conducted.

Louisville Kentucky is the home of a legendary creature, a creature that has come to be known as the Pope Lick Monster. This creature is part man, part goat, and is rumored to lurke on the train trestles over Pope Lick Creek. One of the things that makes this frightening cryptid so unique is its kill count. There have been at least 12 deaths upon the tressels since 1968, all attributed to creatures' supernatural abilities to lure people onto the tracks. While this is the most popular Goatman legend it is not even close to being the only one. In this episode we will discuss the myths, legends, and folklore associated with The Goatman.
The entity known as the Bell Witch is truly unique, and will challenge any previous notions of what you think of as a witch. The entity entered the Bell's life quietly and eventually over time ragged into a violent and malevolent poltergeist. What really makes this tale unique is three things. First, this entity spoke plainly and in English, second, it affected an entire community of hundreds of individuals, and finally, it actually murdered or claimed to have murdered John Bell.

In this episode we talk with JJ. JJ shares a terrifying experience in which something violently attacked his cabin in the middle of the night, tore part of the roof off, and pushed the entire cabin off its foundation.
“A few minutes went by and the loudest bang I have ever heard shook the whole cabin. I immediately jumped out of my bunk and was standing in the middle of the small 10 foot wide cabin. The entire cabin began to shake. Back and forth violently. It was so much movement it shook Chris out of his bunk and onto the floor. It seemed like forever that the cabin was shaking. It was so violent that one of the 2x4 rafters snapped and a 2x4 fell to the floor. My only thought was that whatever this thing is, it’s coming through the wall.”
In September 1944, as summer faded into fall, there was a series of terrifying attacks in Mattoon where over two dozen ordinary citizens became victims to noxious gas attacks in their own homes. All victims reported strange odors and strange symptoms such as nausea and temporary paralysis. Citizens were gripped in fear.
