Paul Nicholls has been crowned champion trainer for the 10th time at Sandown Park on the final day of the jumps season.
Nicholls had been pushed all the way by irish trainer Willie Mullins but after Nicholls saddled the 2nd and 4th in the Bet 365 Gold Cup he could not be overtaken in the race which is decided by prize money won.
Nicholls was relieved to get the title after such a high pressure battle over the last few weeks of the season.
Willie Mullins has just failed in his bid to become the first Irish winner of the British jumps trainers championships for 62 years.
Mullins had to concede defeat after Paul Nicholls trained the 2nd and 4th in the day's most valuable race the Bet 365 Gold Cup on the final day of the british season at Sandown.
Mullins as a result pulled out Vroom Vroom mag in the next race which was then won by the Paul Nicholls trained Ptit Zig.
