She founded Full Spectrum Agency for Autistic Adults in 2018. Through Full Spectrum Agency, she facilitates peer support groups, discussion groups, and many other programs for over 500 autistic group members. Katie partners with organizations in Michigan to teach sexuality education, social and communication skills for relationships, and self-determination. She also advocates for autistic adults through corporate workshops, conferences, and community presentations. An avid traveler, Katie learned the majority of her self-advocacy and leadership skills through world travel. She has visited 17 countries on all seven continents, including two years in Uganda with the U.S. Peace Corps.

She graduated from Columbia College in 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in social work. Her career in the mental health field started as a therapeutic counselor providing direct care to children with a vast array of mental, emotional, substance and behavioral health issues in Columbia South Carolina. In 2010 she completed her Master of Social Work at the University of South Carolina. After graduation she worked in a North Carolina Psychiatric Hospital as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Catina opened a private practice in Columbia South Carolina. In 2018 she discovered she is on the spectrum and has been advocating for research and mental health providers to recognize symptoms of autism in Black females. She created the “Culture of Autism Spectrum” training for mental health providers.

Rachel recently made headlines as the first Miss Florida contestant to be on the autism spectrum. She received her A.A. degree from St. Petersburg College, and is currently attending University of South Florida, majoring in English with minors in creative writing and communication. She studied International relations and languages including Russian and Spanish. Rachel is also studying voice and is an opera singer, showcasing her talents in New York and London, England. Rachel won the Els for Autism award in 2017, is a spokesperson for the Center for Autism and Related Disabilities (CARD) at the University of South Florida, and also is on their advocacy board. Rachel was named an ambassador for Unicorn Children’s Foundation, a board member for the Els Center for Excellence, a board member of Safe Minds Inc., and has traveled internationally with the Global Autism Project. She is also a member of the International Thespian Honor Society and has competed in pageantry, winning local, state and national titles. Rachel has been working on her platform “Ability Beyond Disability” for the past 9 years now, and has recently sang the National Anthem at a sold out Tampa Bay Lightning hockey game. She returned from New York on April 3rd where she spoke for World Autism Day at the United Nations concerning politics and advocacy for those with autism. The three discuss Rachel’s advocacy work, why she likes performing and being on a stage, and pursuing passions even when others may stand in your way.

Barb Cook: Formally identified on the autism spectrum in 2009 at the age of 40, Barb is editor and author of Spectrum Women: Walking to the Beat of Autism, and founder and editor in chief of Spectrum Women Magazine. Barb is a highly committed autism advocate, writer, speaker and keen motorcyclist, making a variety of appearances on Australian radio, television, in newspapers and magazines and the SBS television documentary, The Chameleons: Women with Autism. She is co-founder of Bikers for Autism Australia, Community Council Member of AASET (Autistic Adults and other Stakeholders Engaged Together) and an independent autistic peer reviewer of the journal Autism in Adulthood. Barb currently rides a Suzuki V-Strom DL1000 called Ron ‘Strom’ Burgundy and implements a combination of her passion for motorcycling with her dedication in autism advocacy, creating acceptance and pushing for action to improve the lives for women and girls on the autism spectrum. Recently Barb was recently awarded a Special Commendation in the 2017 Autism Queensland Creative Futures Awards by the Queensland Governor, his Excellency Paul De Jersey and will be speaking at the World Autism Organization Congress 2018 in Houston Texas later this year. Barb is also currently studying a Master of Autism at the University of Wollongong (Australia).

Renata Jurkevythz: Renata is one of Spectrum Women Magazine’s featured writers. She also contributed to the book “Spectrum Women: Walking to the Beat of Autism“. She is an autistic woman and mother of three children, two also being on the Spectrum in different levels. Renata writes from her personal perspective, also influenced by her daily experiences with her kids. She has a degree in International Trade but currently focus all her energy on raising her kids and on her writing. She is Brazilian and moved permanently to Germany in 2016.

Maura Campbell: Maura is part of the Spectrum Women writers team and has written on autism and learning disability for a range of publications. She performed at a BBC storytelling event as part of the 2017 Edinburgh Fringe Festival and was featured on Four Thought on BBC Radio 4. Maura lives in the Northern Ireland countryside with her husband Stephen, her son Darragh, Ash the assistance dog and Baz the cat. She was diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome in 2011, the year after her son’s autism diagnosis.

She served as the editor of Intervention in School and Clinic, the third largest journal in special education and has been a member of the editorial board of several journals, including Focus on Autism and Other Developmental Disabilities, Remedial and Special Education, and Autism: The International Journal of Research. Brenda has made over 1000 presentations all over the world and written more than 250 articles and books on ASD. In addition, she served as the co-chair of the National ASD Teacher Standards Committee; was on the National Institute of Mental Health’s Interagency Autism Coordinating Committee’s Strategic Planning Consortium; and collaborated with the National Professional Center on Autism Spectrum Disorders, National Autism Center, and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services who identified evidenced based practices for individuals with autism spectrum disorders and served as Project Director for the Texas Autism Resource Guide for Teachers (TARGET). Myles is also on the executive boards of several organizations, including the Scientific Council of the Organization for Autism Research (SCORE), College Internship Program, and ASTEP – Asperger Syndrome Training and Education Program. Further, in the latest survey conducted by the University of Texas, she was acknowledged as the second most productive applied researcher in ASD in the world. Samantha Elisofon co-stars in Keep the Change, and also recently appeared in the film Good Time, starring Robert Pattinson (Karlovy Vary, Cannes Film Festival). Dr. Patten Koenig is an occupational therapist, with a PhD in Educational Psychology who examines the efficacy of interventions utilized in public schools for autistic students. Her research focuses on utilizing a strength based paradigm and the autistic individual’s perspective to understand the impact of these issues on quality of life and well-being in order to guide person centered interventions utilizing strengths in inclusive settings. Dr. Koenig is the Principal Investigator of the NYU Steinhardt's ASD Nest Program, an inclusive program for autistic students in the New York City Department of Education. She is currently Co-PI of a NSF grant entitled "IDEAS: Inventing, Designing and Engineering on the Autism Spectrum" that leverages STEM interests of ASD middle school students to develop social competence and potential career pathways. The three discuss what NYU is doing for people on the spectrum, Dr. Patten Koenig’s collaboration with Dr. Stephen Shore, the importance of professionals interacting with the autistic, and why occupational therapy is so valuable for the neurodiverse.

Barb was diagnosed with Aspergers syndrome in 2009 and is Founder and Editor in Chief of Spectrum Women Magazine. She is a highly committed Autism/Aspergers advocate, keen motorcyclist and web/graphics guru. Barb has made numerous appearances on Australian television and radio, in national newspapers and magazines, was part of a documentary The Chameleons: Women with Autism. She is also the Founder and Director of Bikers for Autism Australia and Co-Founder/Director of the Australian Autism Aspergers Network Inc. Barb discusses her personal diagnosis, the autism gender gap in Australia, and how she developed a hyper interest in motorcycles.

Alycia Halladay has been involved in autism research for the past 14 years, starting her career working with one of the first NIEHS and EPA funded Children’s Centers for Environmental Health (CCEH). In September of 2014, Alycia became the first Chief Science Officer of the Autism Science Foundation. As part of the ASF team, she continues her commitment to brain tissue research, support of research that is targeted at the risk factors for ASD, study of differences between men and women with autism, and importantly, support of jr level investigators just beginning a career in autism. Dr. Halladay speaks with Becca and Kate about her research into the genetic components of autism, studying the occurrence of neurodiverse siblings, the autism gender gap as related to the world of research, and how listeners can get involved in some of the ongoing studies.

Then, Becca and Kate discuss sleep hygiene for people on the spectrum, including highlighting common challenges, and offering helpful tips.

He also is a TMS practitioner, one of only a handful of psychiatrists in South Florida utilizing TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) a non-pharmacological, non-invasive form of neuromodulation which uses highly focused, MRI-strength alternating magnetic pulses to target the brain in those areas where under-activity or dysfunction is linked to depression or other neuropsychiatric disorders. Dr. Gil discusses what TMS is and the effects it can have on patients on the spectrum, other options for treating symptoms that come with an autism diagnosis, and the care doctors should take in prescribing medications to patients with sensitive systems.
