SHINee's back, and so am I. After many months of beating myself up about this little endeavour, I've finally decided I'm ready to start podding again. This time around, we've got a new look, a new format, and hopefully lots of fun guest features in between my typical ramblings. For now, come catch up with what I've been up to in the last six months, my favourite comebacks of 2021 so far, and what music I'm excited to hear next. Follow me on Twitter @kennycabenny. Songs featured: My Sweetie (BoA), riBBon (BamBam), No Matter (EXO), Cinema (CIX), Time of Love (ATEEZ), Kiss Kiss (SHINee).

It's been a while. In tonight's short episode, I explain why I've been MIA from the tl, attempt to talk about the complexity of grieving as a black k-pop stan in the light of Chadwick Boseman's passing, and why I'm a notorious disconnecter. Catch up with me on Twitter (@kennycabenny) and check out Shanendra's latest podcast episode here: https://open.spotify.com/episode/2f6iEtFmeG79ReJ8cbXXZn?si=G6xZ2PpJSz6lYEqh2wXquw. Today's episode is one of the most difficult ones I've had to record. It's potentially a difficult listen, but a necessary conversation sparked from a thread I read that really put a lot of my feelings towards Shinee's Jonghyun (aka my buddy), his loss, his legacy and life as a post-December 2017 Shawol into perspective. I'll share how I got into Shinee and what the experience has taught me about how complicated grief can be, how social media pressure can suppress very real emotions and the need for a healthy balance between acknowledging Jonghyun's legacy, cherishing his memory and allowing ourselves to grieve, heal and move forward. Very special thanks to user @am_jjong for letting me reference their thread. Songs featured: End of a Day (Orchestra Version) performed by the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, Maybe Tomorrow (Jonghyun).

In today's episode, I reveal my plan to burn KQ Entertainment to the ground while ranting for what, half an hour? about racist Atinys gaslighting black fans, the Bazaar magazine shoot and KQ's ridiculously good use of black outrage as a publicity tactic. Also, wishing the love of my life, my baby Taemin a happy 27th (28th in Korea) birthday. (Music: MARS, Into the Rhythm - Taemin) (Find me on Twitter @kennycabenny.)

So we back at this - AGAIN. Today I get 100% real about my feelings towards cultural appropriation in k-pop (particularly in the context of black culture), why these "apologies" are little more than lip service, coons and how to plan an Olympics ceremony. Come rant with me on Twitter (@kennycabenny). Songs: Telephone (ft. 10cm) and Just Us 2 by EXO-SC.
