There’s a lot of hand-wringing going on over the idea Donald Trump’s response to some federal court orders has put us in a soup called “constitutional crisis.” Well the soup may soon be heated up and served, but so far it’s still in Andy Warhol’s Campbell’s can. Trump hasn’t spit in the eye of a judge yet, he’s more or less playing by the rules. If he gets a “NO” from SCOTUS in a case and ignores them, yes, we’ll be in hot water (and Trump will probably in a trifecta – three impeachments! – and this time might be convicted). But not yet, so everybody should take a chill pill.

Super-lawyer Tom Girardi, on trial for fraud, claimed dementia as a defense. Should he have testified, sounding at times articulate and amusing? And, has a NYT columnist lost her mind? She thinks it's great the DMV has lousy service because it's the only time privileged white people get to encounter women of color.
Should UCLA have allowed the maintenance of a “Jew-free zone” on campus during pro-Palestinian protests? Well no – duh – but why did it take an order by a furious federal judge to shut down the racist encampment? Yes, the Supreme Court told the D.C. trial court judge to sort out the allegations against Trump – were they official duties, giving him immunity from prosecution? Well the judge may have a joker up her sleeve – a mini-trial, to answer SCOTUS’ question, may achieve the Democrats’ dream of one more pre-election trial for Trump.
Believe it or not, California’s progressive governor, Gavin Newsom, wants to lock up the crazy people. He calls it “involuntary conservatorship,” and he’s shocking his liberal pals. But, unless something’s done about California’s burgeoning tent city homeless population, well, it doesn’t look good on the governor’s resume.
He’s looking to build shelters to accommodate 10,000 Californians who have a tenous grip on reality. Advocates for the homeless vow to flood the courts with lawsuits.
Back in the day, you rack up a jillion dollars in debt, then whoosh – it's gone with a bankruptcy filing. Not so much now:
--- Johnson & Johnson thought they'd get rid of 61,000 claims that their talc products contain asbestos and cause cancer – the bankruptcy judge said, "Nice try."
--- The Supreme Court rejected the Sacker family's attempt to win immunity from suits through its company's bankuptcy.
--- Rudy Giuliani tried to get out from under a $148 million defamation verdict. The judge said, "Not even a nice try."
Dems are giddy over their chances with Biden out of the way. If there's a blue wave in November, what's next for the Supreme Court?
--- Will Congress limit the types of cases SCOTUS may consider? (Yes, they can do that!)
--- Will we see age limits, term limits and an expansion of the size of the Court – maybe including 3 new progressives appointed by President Harris?
--- Will a President Harris be permitted to add 3 or 5 progressives to the Court?
Could the last week have been any bigger? We probe the shocking collapse of the manslaughter case against Alec Baldwin. Will a Trump appointee’s tossing of the Mar-A-Lago documents case hold up on appeal?

History was made this week: Never before has the Supreme Court decided an ex-president may be criminally prosecuted, at least for SOMETHING. And never before has a presidential debater admitted, “I almost fell asleep right there on the stage!
OJ Simpson’s low-speed chase was 30 years ago this week. I sit down with my radio colleagues who covered the trial, Steve Kindred and Ken Jeffries, for a look back. Will “cameras in the courtroom” ever recover from the OJ trial? And was OJ’s 9-year Vegas sentence payback for the murder jury letting him off?
One Hunter Biden juror is spilling the beans: They felt sorry for him, they’re rooting for probation not jail -- but when Hunter’s daughter testified, admitting she and her dad swapped texts about him visiting his drug dealer the day after the gun purchase, the guilty verdict was sealed.
And: Will Trump get jail time?
Awkward moment at the Hunter Biden Delaware gun trial – his wife screamed at a Trump adviser in the hallway, “You don’t belong here you Nazi piece of S” – only she didn’t say “S”. Plus, the GOP mantra in the Stormy Daniels trial was heard in Delaware: “But for his last name, these charges never would have been brought”
The hush money trial jury hit the ground running, immediately asking for testimony readbacks. If Trump’s convicted, his lawyers may say hey, prosecutors argued the public deserves to know the outcome before the election. Does that apply to an appeal as well?
The Stormy case will soon be in the jurors’ hands. Inquiring minds want to know: Was Michael Cohen so devastatingly bad on the stand he blew up the DA’s case? Why didn’t Trump testify? And you heard it here first: If the jury is hung, will the judge book a second trial before the November election?
Should Ivy League Palestine protesters lose their fancy Wall Street jobs? And, will Biden and Trump really get together on the debate stage?
It’s an all “Guess the Verdict” episode, with one wacky lawsuit after another. May a city sue a professional clown for feeding expired parking meters? A guy wins five grand by sending a nude photo of his ex to an adult magazine’s “Girl Next Door” contest – is he in trouble?
Will Donald Trump welcome a jail sentence for contempt? Incarceration doesn’t sound enjoyable, but Trump’s campaign ad will write itself: Here I am behind bars courtesy of a Democrat judge and a Democrat DA, while Biden jets around, campaigning. And, will Michael Cohen survive cross-examination? Without a smoking gun document to help show Trump KNEW his company’s records were falsified, the jury could see the case as “he said/he said,” with no clear winner.
A Trump criminal trial is on. But, did the DA commit a huge blunder by getting the judge to let the DA use a laundry list of Trump sins, IF he takes the stand? The order may keep him from testifying, which may prevent his conviction. On the lighter side, Disneyland’s beloved “Goofy” has been sued for battery.

A gay woman sued the State of Missouri for wrongful firing, and during jury selection the judge excluded potential panelists who said their religion condemns homosexuality. And now, the US Supreme Court has upheld the judge’s ruling – over the objection of Justice Samuel.

A UCLA professor was asked to grade Black students more leniently because they were traumatized by events that gave rise to BLM protests. He said no, and UCLA said “you’re outa here, you are not on board with our approach to diversity, equity and inclusion.” He’s suing for $19 million.
The first-ever conviction of a parent in a school shooting case is controversial: Was her son’s rampage really foreseeable? Or was the verdict intended to send a message to parents everywhere – control your kids, or you’ll wind up behind bars.
A wild week in court: Donald Trump is hit with an $83 million defamation verdict, in favor of a woman who didn’t report his assault for two decades, and couldn’t recall the year it happened. And the Alex Murdaugh conviction is in jeopardy – the judge’s court clerk tried to convince the jurors to vote guilty!

The Supreme Court issues a decision that could signal how it might come out when the next abortion case hits their docket. People like to joke about Alexa or their smart TV listening in on their conversations. But is it a joke? Location tracking can tell “big data” where just about everybody on the planet is at every moment. There’s a push to make DNA swabs as universal as fingerprints. And with facial recognition, anonymity is officially dead. Time for a eulogy for privacy?
Let me get this straight. Ninety women accuse Weinstein of rape or assault or harassment. So the geniuses in the DA’s office decide to start with two women who were super-friendly with Weinstein for years after their assaults, seeking his Hollywood help. The judge allowed some additional victims to testify, a ruling that survived appellate review in the Bill Cosby case, but could be an Achilles heel in the Weinstein matter. And, should Weinstein have rolled the dice and maneuvered his walker to the witness stand?

Bolton’s blockbuster book wasn’t enough to extend the Trump impeachment trial, so Democrats offered impassioned argument to support the doomed mission of convincing twenty GOP senators to say “You’re Fired!” The trial had high drama, from Chuck Schumer trying to convince the Chief Justice to break a tie, to Jerry Nadler beating Adam Schiff in a footrace to the podium for the Democrats’ last word. Now the waiting game: Will Democrats pay the price for insisting on a trial, in the form of an energized GOP base storming into November? Or, will trial-induced doubts about Trump combine with his historically low ratings – he’s the only president in the history of the Gallup Poll to fail to reach 50% approval -- lead to an election win for the Dems?
