Welcome to “Insights on Healing a weekly Podcast.” Today’s Episode is “Tips to try while waiting on God for your life-long dream. You will learn the importance of waiting on God, and what you do while waiting.

My name is Joan M. Blake, author, and I am your host. Insights on Healing includes the reading of Scripture, praying for my audience, reading from one of my books, interviewing individuals who found purpose in their lives through the healing power of God.

The purpose of this podcast is to provide content that brings emotional healing and restoration to stay at home and working mothers who are dealing with trauma and other difficult life issues from their past. I pray as you listen to this episode, that God would bless you with inner strength, purpose, and provide you with the hope that you have been longing for. In today’s podcast I will discuss the importance of waiting on God and how you should wait on him. We will show you how Hannah in the Bible waited on God.

Questions:

Have you had a reason to wait on God for a child, for a new house, for healing, for acceptance into a college, for a new job, for revitalization?

What does it mean to wait on God?

Waiting on God doesn’t mean to sit idly by. Waiting means to hope, to anticipate, and to trust.

Hannah had a reason for waiting on God-She was barren-could not have children. She suffered emotional pain from knowing this.

  1. She applied her faith by consistently praying and trusting in God. In addition to her consistent prayer, she worshiped and sacrifice to God at Shiloh where her husband Elkanah gave her a double portion because she was barren
  2. She was patient through prayer even when it seemed that God would never answer her prayer
  3. Hannah was humble; although she experienced a lot of adversity in her life. She was mocked by her rival for being barren, yet, she never lashed out in anger at her rival.
  4. She was meek, she endured her pain with a quiet spirit, yet with a persistency towards God knowing what she wanted from Him and by faith she would receive what she wanted from God.
  5. She experienced long-suffering for years, surrendered and submitted her cares to God and vowed to trust Him. She never gave up hope. God did not chastise her for being discontent. God understands our feelings.
  6. She kept God’s commandments loving God and depending on Him
  7. She endured to the end. She told God she wanted a son and if she did, she promised to dedicate his life to the service of God. Samuel was born. (1 Samuel 1:11). She believed what she had asked for would come to past. Her words are prophetic. In 1 Samuel 2:8, she said these words: He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth up the beggar from the dunghill, to set them among princes, and to make them inherit the throne of glory: for the pillars of the earth are the LORD’S, and he hath set the world upon them.

Let us Pray for your needs:

Father, I bring my listeners to you. They have prayed for healing for their families, for that new house, for that new job and for other areas in their lives. I pray that you will help them with faith, patience, trust, and persistency to go after you and depend on you for all of their needs in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

My name is Joan M. Blake, author, and I am your host. Insights on Healing includes the reading of Scripture, praying for my audience, reading from one of my books, and interviewing individuals who found purpose in their lives through the healing power of God.

The purpose of this podcast is to provide content that brings emotional healing and restoration to those who are dealing with trauma and other difficult life issues. I pray as you listen to this episode, that God would bless you with inner strength, purpose, and provide you with the hope that you have been longing for. I will be reading from 2 Corinthians 5:14-15 from the New International Version of the Bible and reflect on these verses and give some answers on how to live for God.

Reading:

14 For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. 15 And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.

  1. Explanation of 2 Cor 5:14 This verse means that we were considered dead under sin, with no hope at all, until God sent his Son Jesus to die in our place by paying the price for our sins. You see it was by grace that you and I have been rescued from our sinful state. Ephesians 2:8 states “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God

Apostle Paul in Gal. 2:20 confirms this: 20 I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

Apostle Paul’s former life was a persecutor of Christians, and his life was transformed to a servant of God. You can read about this in Acts 9 while he was on the road to Damascus to persecute Christians, he encountered Jesus.

  • Let us review 2 Cor. 5:15 which explains why we should live to God

2 Cor. 5:15 Verse 15 states that we should not live for ourselves but for him who died and rose again. Col 3:3 confirms this: 3 For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. Because we were dead in our trespasses and Christ took us out of this bondage we were in and rose again, the least we could do is to live to Him. Romans 14:8 confirms this and states: For if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord.So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord’s.”

  • Let’s look at the things that are not pleasing to God in Galatians 5:19-21

a)sexual immorality meaning sexuality between unmarried people

b) impurity means moral uncleanness through sensual thoughts, words, and deeds outside the sacred confines of marriage.

c)debauchery means behavior involving sex, drugs, alcohol, etc. that is often considered immoral.

d)idolatry means the worship of someone or something other than God as though it were God.

e) witchcraft; A man also or woman that hath a familiar spirit, or that is a wizard,

f)hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, g)dissensions, factions 21 and envy;

h)drunkenness

i)orgies, and the like. an occasion when a group of people behave in a wild uncontrolled way, especially involving sex, alcohol, or illegal drugs:

I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.

  • What to do if you find yourself doing any of the above. You can overcome your faults by doing the following:

a) I suggest that you confess, repent, and ask God’s forgiveness for any or all of these things.

b) Accept Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior

c) If it is possible, seek a Bible believing Church which will help you maintain a life that is pleasing to God.

  • Pray, worship, and study the Bible daily to be in tune with

God.

  • Love God and others the way God loves you. When you do, you will have love and peace in your heart which are the fruit of the spirit.
  • Follow God’s commandments to do good and that is pleasing to God.
  • Obey those who are in authority over you, your actions will be pleasing to God.
  • Husband and wife should live in agreement with each other. Pray for your marriage if that is not the case.
  • Utilize Faith at all times because God is with you and fighting your battles. He will never leave or forsake you. (Joshua 1:5;Deut 31:8)We all go through hardship at times, but we must remember that God fights your battles. 2 Chronicles 20:15

Let us pray:

Father, you are Almighty, the great I am, the God of love and mercy, the God of all comfort, who comforts me when I am weak so I can comfort those with the comfort I have received from you. You are the God who provides for me, the One who bears my burdens, and the One who heals, delivers, and forgives my sins. I come before you today because I know You will not send me away empty handed.

I confess that I have sinned and acted in ways that are not pleasing to you, I repent of my actions, and I ask for your forgiveness in the name of Jesus.

Help me dear God to change my thought patterns and my ways so I do the things that are pleasing to you. Wash me and make me clean, I pray in the name of Jesus.

I desire to have an intimate relationship with you

And to invite Jesus Christ to be my Lord and Savior

I accept Jesus as my Lord and Savior

The One who died on the cross and rose again,

Paying the penalty for my sins,

So I could have salvation and eternal life

I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.

If you have sincerely prayed the sinner’s prayer

You have salvation and eternal life.

Questions:

Have you been going through life-issues for a long time and feel stuck in your past and cannot come out of that mindset?

Someone condemned you, someone made you feel that you would never be free to become the person God wants you to be

Answer.

I am here to tell you that you are unique. You are a child of God and that when God created you, he created you to praise and worship him and to have hope and purpose in your life. Romans 8:1 states that there is therefore no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the spirit.

  1. When you walk in the flesh, you do the things that are not pleasing to God and as a result, your life does not have full meaning. These things include hatred, envy, jealousy, sexual immorality and all the areas that are listed in Galatians 5: 19-21.
  2. When you walk in the spirit of Christ, you increase in the knowledge of God, and you live to please God. You have peace, joy, love, fulfillment and those things that are listed in Galatians 5:22-23.
  3. You can stand on God’s promises for your life without fear and condemnation because you are under the guidance and protection of your heavenly Father.
  4. God gives second chances to those who backslide and you can always re-unite with God through confession and repentance. In 1 John 1:9, the Bible states that if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Let us Pray for your needs:

Father, we all come to you. We confess that we have sinned and come short of your glory and ask for your forgiveness for walking after the flesh and not walking in the light of your love and peace. Help us dear God, lead us, as we yearn to go in your presence in Jesus’ name, Amen.

How to Bounce Back when Everything is going wrong.

Welcome to “Insights on Healing a weekly Podcast.” Today’s Episode is “How to bounce back when everything is going wrong.” You will learn the importance of praying to God in your distress and trusting Him as he guides you through your difficulty.

In today’s podcast I will give examples from Jesus’ ministry and Apostle Paul’s ministry to help you bounce back.

  1. Step back spend time alone and pray. I remember years ago before I started writing and when my children were still at home, I would spend time with God by writing down everything that was really bothering me and asking God to help me deal with the issues I faced. Even this summer, I cut back on the amount of work I was doing. Currently, I am working only on my Podcast, Insights on Healing to give myself a break from being spread too thin, since I am still caring for my daughter with mental health issues. Everyone’s situation is different so depending on the severity of your issues you may need to speak with your mentor, pastor, or counsellor to get feedback. In the Bible, we read how Jesus took time from the busyness of his ministry to pray to the Father and to stay in his will. The following are some of the reasons why Jesus stayed in prayer:
  2. To prepare for a major task. In Matthew 4:1-11 After his baptism, Jesus was in the wilderness fasting and praying. Later, He had an encounter with Satan in a real way. Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted[a] by the devil.

2 After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. 3 The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”4 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’[b]”

5 Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. 6 “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down. For it is written:

“‘He will command his angels concerning you,
and they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’[c]”

7 Jesus answered him, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’[d]”

8 Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. 9 “All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.”

10 Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’[e]”

11 Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him.

  • When He was about to make an important decision. In Luke 6:12-13. Early in His ministry Jesus spent the whole night alone in prayer. The next day He chose his 12 disciples.
  • In times of distress. In Luke 22:39-44 hours before his arrest, Jesus went to the Mount of Olives, a short distance from his disciples, and prayed to God saying “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.”
  • Look at the issues that you face and take baby steps to solve them. Never feel overwhelmed because it will hinder you and you will not be able to solve anything. You cannot focus on the whole picture because you are unable to solve all the issues at the same time. For the last three weeks, we had a hold up so our daughter was not able to attend her program and it slowed me down tremendously. Instead of feeling disappointed, I trusted the process, so I asked a family member to assist me so I could work on my podcast. I was able to complete other projects that I had started. Let us look at an example from Apostle Paul who went about spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ, starting churches, writing to the churches, and keeping abreast of all the goals that he had for them regardless of where he was-even from a jail cell. His whole attitude to life can be put in two words: “Press on”Phil.3:13-14. “Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”
  • Follow God’s leading. Sometimes we have no idea why God revises our plans of action, but we know it is for His purposes. Six months into a new job, my daughter became ill, a few years ago and after two years or less, I had to take a leave of absence to care for her, not knowing that that job as important as it was, was only for a time, and that God had something better in-store for me, helping to save a life that He would use for His glory afterward. That change of plan has brought me to prayer and has kept me on my knees, for the Bible states in Ephesians 3: 20-21that “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.

Let us Pray:

Father, in the name of Jesus, I pray that everyone who is going through issues today that they will come to an understanding of your will for their lives. I pray that every stronghold in their lives will be broken and I decree they will have joy, peace, and understanding that you are their Father, and you want the best for them in the name of Jesus. I pray that you would bless and keep them in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Our Episode today is What Happens when you pray. I will define prayer and go right into our discussion

Define prayer: When you pray you enter communication with God to praise, worship, thank God for `all that God has done for you and you also bring your prayer requests to Him and you believe by faith that God will answer them. Sometimes, we have to wait on God’s timing since He knows what’s best for each of us.

What Happens when you pray:

  1. You release your burdens to God-anything that you cannot handle, God can. Psalm 55:2 God promises us that we can release our burdens and He will sustain us.
  2. God gives you strength to endure your trials; God gave Apostle Paul so much strength to endure persecutions, stoning, shipwrecks, beatings 2 Cor. 11:25
  3. You receive guidance through the Holy Spirit-God guides you through the trials you are enduring. He never gives you more than you can bear. Romans 8:26-27

In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words; and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.

  • God answers your prayers for healing for yourself or your loved ones. Sometimes, he chooses not to answer. (Psalm 103:3)
  • God delivers you brings you out of your dilemma-if you are going through difficult situations, for example an abusive marriage, God can deliver you out of that situation. (Isaiah 43:19)

Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it?I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert. 19 Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?

  • God changes you from the person you used to be, by giving you a loving spirit.(2 Timothy 1:7)
  • God gives you a new perspective on life. In my home, I was always giving and giving. God showed me how to take care of myself by treating myself. Last Sunday, after attending Church service, I treated myself to breakfast and I read some scripture verses regarding this message. (Gal. 5:1)
    It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.”

Father God,

We come to you because you are all that we need and we bring all of our burdens to you. There are people who are in need of salvation, healing from sicknesses, healing from trauma, addictions, homelessness, guilt, fear, anxiety, unforgiveness, mental health issues and more. Lord, we bring these needs to you asking you to make a way out of no way for everyone who has these needs, we pray in the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.

Welcome to “Insights on Healing a weekly Podcast.” Today’s Episode is “How to know Your Purpose in Life” You will learn why knowing your purpose is important and the ways to find your purpose.

My name is Joan M. Blake, author, and I am your host. Insights on Healing includes the reading of Scripture, praying for my audience, reading from one of my books, and interviewing individuals who found purpose in their lives through the healing power of God.

The purpose of this podcast is to provide content that brings emotional healing and restoration to those who are dealing with trauma and other difficult life issues. I pray as you listen to this episode, that God would bless you with inner strength, purpose, and provide you with the hope that you have been longing for. Today, I am going to review Ephesians 1:18-19 which states: I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, 19 and his incomparably great power for us who believe. We see here that Apostle Paul in writing to the Ephesian Church questioned whether they knew the hope to which God had called them, their inheritance, and the great power of God which is available to those who believe. This leads us to the following list.

  1. From the above scripture, we see that knowing your scriptural purpose will allow you to understand your purpose in life.
  2. Your purpose in life is tied to what God expects from you, or who you ought to be: to love God with your whole heart and soul and to love your neighbor as yourself. You are to be kind, compassionate, forgiving, and being humble and to live your life in such a way as to please God.
  3. Identify what matters most to you. Are you interested in poverty issues and helping the poor? That’s where your love for people and compassion will come into play.
  4. Identify your strengths and talents.
  5. Review your childhood days, what were you passionate about? I was passionate about teaching English and Math to students in my neighborhood. Even though I had talents, I studdered and did not speak to audiences. In my adult life, I taught at a college.
  6. Have you done volunteer work-what did you like about it? Trying volunteer work is great as it gives you different options to try out.
  7. Jill Suttie in her article 7 ways to find purpose, dated August 2020, states that having a purpose in life is tied to having better health, longevity, and economic success. And I want to add that this is tied to your scriptural purpose and the fact that you are helping others.

Father God,

We praise and thank you for your greatness and your power. We thank you for creating purpose in each of us so that we know who we are in Christ, the power that is afforded us who believe, and our inheritance as believers. We thank you for the talents and the strengths that you have given us and pray that you will help us as we use our talents and strengths to help and benefit others especially those who are less fortunate than us, in Jesus name, Amen.

I will be reading from 2 kings 4: 1-7 from the New International Version of the Bible and reflect on these verses and give some answers on how to find your gifts from within and use them for God’s glory.

2 kings 4: 1-7 NIV

The wife of a man from the company of the prophets cried out to Elisha, “Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that he revered the Lord. But now his creditor is coming to take my two boys as his slaves.”

2 Elisha replied to her, “How can I help you? Tell me, what do you have in your house?”

“Your servant has nothing there at all,” she said, “except a small jar of olive oil.”

3 Elisha said, “Go around and ask all your neighbors for empty jars. Don’t ask for just a few. 4 Then go inside and shut the door behind you and your sons. Pour oil into all the jars, and as each is filled, put it to one side.”

5 She left him and shut the door behind her and her sons. They brought the jars to her and she kept pouring. 6 When all the jars were full, she said to her son, “Bring me another one.”

But he replied, “There is not a jar left.” Then the oil stopped flowing.

7 She went and told the man of God, and he said, “Go, sell the oil and pay your debts. You and your sons can live on what is left.”

What do we glean from this passage? This passage tells of a miracle, what God can do in the life of a believer, one who lives by faith.

  1. The woman knew she had a debt that needed to be paid or her two sons would be taken
  2. She spoke to the prophet to know what to do next
  3. The prophet asked her what she had and she told him she had oil
  4. The prophet advised her to obtain vessels from her neighbors, fill the jars, sell the oil, pay the debt and leave the remaining monies to live on
  5. She did so.

The questions you need to ask yourself are:

  1. What do I have that God can use?
  2. What step of faith do I need to take to help myself so I can help others?
  3. These questions must be dealt with regardless of the situations you face. You may be homeless, depressed, lonely, brokenhearted, abandoned, angry, mentally unstable. There is hope for you because there is something in the inside of you that God can use for His glory.

Let us pray.

Father, I praise and thank you for your greatness and your mercy. I bring my listeners before you Lord, with all of their situations. Some of them are lonely, depressed, brokenhearted, abandoned, mentally unstable, homeless, alcoholics, in prison, and no where to turn. I pray in the name of Jesus, that you will look down from heaven and move on their behalf Lord, God and show them how by faith, they can look inside themselves and see the greatness that they have within and step out of their situations and find help so they can succeed. Thank you Lord for bringing them out and helping them for you get the glory out of their lives, in Jesus name, Amen.

We will begin by laying down the foundation.

Q. What decision are you about to make regarding yourself or your family member?

Do you have a family member in need of more services than you can handle? Are you in an abusive relationship? Are you looking for a new job? Remember that God has given you one life to live and although you are willing to do more for a disabled family member, stay in an abusive relationship, or not get a higher paying job, God wants you to use wisdom in making decisions. God has allowed you to grow spiritually, giving you the Bible as the word of God with directions in which to follow. You find life stories that you can use as examples to make decisions regarding your own life-issues that you need to solve.

Today, I would like to introduce four ways for you to consider before embarking on making a decision.

  1. Seek God by praying about the issue you have. In Ps. 34:17 says that when you cry out to God, that the Lord hears the cries of the righteous. He delivers them from all of their troubles and that the Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
  2. After seeking God, you must wait on God for the answer. The Psalmist in Psalm 40 states that I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry. If your issue is a new job or placement of a family member, God would send the answer through someone.
  3. Look at the options whether it is a new job you have been waiting for or a placement for a family member.
  4. Make your decision based on the options you have before you, or by faith. The book of Ruth 1:15-16 serves as a great example. In this case, Ruth decided to go to Bethlehem with her mother-in-law Naomi who was mourning the loss of her husband and two sons. Although Naomi was not going to a particular place, Ruth utilizing faith still opted to go with her. In the process of time, Naomi helped Ruth to connect with Boaz, a wealthy landowner who eventually married Ruth and Naomi became a member of their household.

Let us pray: Father, we come into your presence not because we are worthy, but because you have made a way through the blood of Jesus. We magnify your name; we give you the highest praise because you are worthy to receive all of our praises, honor, and the glory that belongs to you. We confess all our thoughts, words, and actions that are not pleasing to you and ask for your forgiveness. Father, we bring all our problems to you; our family issues, job issues, and every stumbling block that prevents us from moving forward and doing your will. In the name of Jesus, I pray for my listeners who may be struggling with illness in their family, relationship problems, job issues, financial issues, job issues and other issues that are draining them of strength. I pray in the name of Jesus that you would make a way for them and cancel the problems that come their way so they can prosper and be in good health.

In today’s podcast I will discuss scriptures from the books of Romans, Galatians, and 1 John 1 to help you to have a fruitful life.

What makes you stress? You can be stressed from:

  1. Marriage issue
  2. Caring for a son/daughter with special needs
  3. Ministering to the Lost
  4. Working on a job to put food on your table
  5. Keeping up with housework

The fact of the matter is, you are stressed and you need a plan to handle your stresses.

  1. Your first plan is to take time to pray to God every morning before you start your day. A prayer life that starts the first thing in the morning and the last thing before you go to bed would help you tremendously as you call on God to be with you, to cover and protect you, and guide you during the day and night. Even Jesus during His earthly ministry, took time out of his busy schedule to pray and be in touch with the Father. At times, he went away by himself, to be alone (Matthew 14:23; Mark 6:46–47; John 6:15).
  2. Have a workout plan to help your body regenerate itself. I work out on my elliptical for twenty-five minutes daily, and at the same time, listen to either the Bible or Christian Music which makes me feel refreshed. You can too. If you do not have a workout machine and are not close to a YMCA or workout center, go to google.com and find a workout that is high impact or low impact which is best suited for you. You may chose to walk for twenty minutes in your neighborhood.
  3. Change your eating habits. Strive to eat healthy so you can feel a sense of vitality, Make an appointment with your Nutritionist to get help with what to eat and your portions to eat. With the help of your nutritionist, make a plan for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and begin to put it into action. Also include smoothies or juicing into your plans as well.
  4. If you are able, take short weekend breaks. I have done weekend retreats in the past and they were unforgettable moments. Go to listen to music or anything that you enjoy with a friend.
  5. Lastly, when you have done all of the above, stand firm in the Lord. a. Remember that Jesus came to lighten your darkness and to free you from your stresses. When God introduced Him during His baptism with John the Baptist, He said “This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased.” Matthew 3:17 In John 8:12, Jesus says, I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life.” Although you are experiencing stressful times, Jesus promises that you will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life.

b. Jesus came to free you from the burdens you carry and to give you hope, so cast all your burdens on Him and have rest. 1 Peter 5:7

In Matthew 11:28-30 He says, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Let us Pray for your needs:

Father, we thank you that we can come in your presence with thanksgiving and joy for who you are and what you have done for us by sending your Son, Jesus to die on the cross for our sins so we can have salvation. Lord, God, in response to your requests, we bring all of our stresses to you, marriage, caretaking stresses, job related stresses, household stresses and even Ministry stresses and we lay them at your feet. We pray now that every burden will be lifted and you will give us rest in the name of Jesus., Amen.

Definition of faith: Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.

We believe with confidence that we are going to receive something that we cannot see but we know at some point that we will receive it or we know that God is going to work on our behalf and we wait patiently for God to move.

By Faith we believe that God made the world and everything in it.

By Faith, we believe that Jesus was our sacrificial lamb who died to save us from our sins once and we no longer have to rely on the blood of bulls and rams as an annual sacrifice. We also believe by faith that it is by grace that we are saved and this grace was a gift granted by God. We are not condemned but justified.

Without Faith, it is impossible to please God, because when you approach God, you must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those that diligently seek Him. (Heb 11:6)

Examples of People who applied Faith to their lives and received the promises.

The Book of Hebrews, gives us a list of people who received their blessings and those who did not live long enough to receive them. Let us look at Abraham, His wife Sarah, and Moses. I encourage you to read other stories that Hebrews 11 listed.

  1. The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you.

2 “I will make you into a great nation,
and I will bless you;
I will make your name great,
and you will be a blessing.[a]
3 I will bless those who bless you,
and whoever curses you I will curse;
and all peoples on earth
will be blessed through you . Abraham did not think or reasoned what he should do, He took his wife and went to the country God showed him.

  • Abraham’s wife Sarah had passed childbearing age and although she first had doubts, trusted God and gave birth to a son named Isaac.
  • God told Abraham to sacrifice his only son Isaac and tested him to see if he would obey God and although he took his son to kill him, God stopped him when he was about to slay his own son. He trusted God and knew by faith that God was able to raise Him up.
  • By faith, Moses’ parents hid him and Pharoah’s daughter found him and nurtured him as her own child but when Moses grew up, he refused to be the son of Pharoah’s daughter , choosing to suffer affliction that his own people were suffering. Now we know that God chose Moses to lead the people of Israel out of Egypt.

Why do we need Faith in our lives?

  1. Without “Faith” you will have no hope

You go through difficulties of life daily and see no way out of your dilemma. Regardless of what you do to get out of your situation you cannot, because you are depending on yourselves to do this, but it is not about you. You cannot help yourselves. You fail to realize that the God of the Universe is bigger than your problems and that He can make a way for you. God is Almighty, the Creator of the Universe, the One who is in Control, who in the past has subdued Nations and Kings and made a way for His people. He is the author and finisher of your faith (Heb 12:2). He knows all about you.

  • Without “ Faith” you will not strive to have purpose in life

You are making the problems of your life take over who you are and the purpose for which God has called you on this earth, so you are depressed, you feel lonely, discouraged, defeated, you have no zeal to do God’s will. You think you are not good enough to go through and accomplish the things you have planned. You are believing these lies but they are untrue.

  • Without faith, you feel like giving up

You feel like throwing in the towel because you feel that you are no use to anyone. The going is so rough that you cannot take the stress and do God’s work at the same time. Jesus did not give up even when He was faced to the point of going to the cross. He knew what He had to do. He had to finish His father’s business and make a way for us sinners.

  • Without faith you will not see yourselves as God sees you

God sees you as complete in Him since you have been washed by the blood of Jesus. Whatever your past situation was, God does not see your past, He sees a new you. You have been restored, renewed, delivered, and set free. You are walking in the light of God’s love; you are heading the voice of God. Things are working out for you. God is giving you a new chance at life

  • Without faith you will not understand you will not understand that God is calling you to commune with him.

When you commune with God, you will find strength, hope, motivation, zeal to live again and to hope again. God wants all your focus to be on him and not on your problems. When you focus on Him, you will then spend time alone with God, you will go to Him not begging him for things, because He knows what you need rather than what you want. He wants you to have an intimate relationship with Him, to worship Him, praise Him and thank Him for who He is. When you worship God, praise him, and thank Him and have an intimate relationship with God, you are looking up to God, the awesome God of the Universe, who can do exceedingly, abundantly more than you can ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20)

  • Without faith, you will not have a desire to become part of a community of believers. When you are part of the body of Christ, you understand what it means to belong, and share and hope with others
  • Without faith you will not strive for a happier and fulfilled life. You will do whatever it takes to improve yourself, engage with others, find peace of mind, lift yourself up to stay positive and not give up. God sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross to set you free from all your sins and the worries that you may have.

Let us pray:Father, We magnify your name; we give you the highest praise because you are worthy to receive all of our praises, honor, and the glory that belongs to you. We confess all our thoughts, words, and actions that are not pleasing to you and ask for your forgiveness. Father, we bring all the issues that we face in our lives. Lord, they are overwhelming and painful and know that only you can solve our problems, so we put them into your hands and pray that you will make a way for us, Lord. We pray in the name of Jesus that you will remove every stumbling block that prevents us from moving forward and doing the things you have purposed in our lives. We pray that you will increase our zeal, our confidence, our motivation and our hope in you in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Come before Him with joyful songs

  • Know that the Lord is God

It is He who made us and we are His

We are His people, the sheep of His Pasture

  • Enter His gates with thanksgiving

And His courts with praise

Give thanks to Him and praise his name

  • For the Lord is good and His love endures forever

And his faithfulness continues through all generations.

Reflection: Friends, these five verses say it all. We serve a mighty God and we are His. He is our Shepherd and we are his sheep. A shepherd looks after the sheep that He owns. Psalm 23 states that God is our shepherd and we shall not be in want of anything.

Psalm 100 invites us to worship the Lord, praise him and give Him thanks for He is worthy of our praises. We worship and praise him because He is our father. We thank Him for his love, goodness, his mercy and faithfulness. In John 3:16, God sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross in our place so we can be saved. Ephesians 2:8-9 tells us that It is by grace that you and I have been saved not anything that we have done. You might tell me, but Joan, look where I am today, what has God done for me I am homeless, I have mental issues, I am a drug addict.

This is what God has done for You. He has given you life and hope. He has given you time on this earth to pick up the pieces of your life and do something with it. God never looks at your past. He looks at your future. In Jeremiah 29:11 God declares, that the plans I have for you are plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. That is who God is: He is good, loving, kind, and in 2 Cor. 1:20 he is faithful to keep his promises. God will do everything to put you back on your feet. All you have to do is exercise faith, wait on God, believe in his love and trust Him. Your life will improve because of it.

Let us pray: Father, I pray on behalf of my listeners who have had trauma in their lives and have been impacted by this trauma and cannot seem to move forward. I pray Father for a breakthrough for each one in the name of Jesus. I pray that you would break every stronghold that is holding them back from moving forward in the name of Jesus. I say ‘Rise up” in the name of Jesus and become the person God has called you to be.

Today’s podcast is taken from the book of John 4: 5-30. 39. I am reading from the NIV version of the Bible.

5 So he came to a town in Samaria called Sychar, near the plot of ground Jacob had given to his son Joseph. 6 Jacob’s well was there, and Jesus, tired as he was from the journey, sat down by the well. It was about noon.

7 When a Samaritan woman came to draw water, Jesus said to her, “Will you give me a drink?” 8 (His disciples had gone into the town to buy food.)

9 The Samaritan woman said to him, “You are a Jew and I am a Samaritan woman. How can you ask me for a drink?” (For Jews do not associate with Samaritans.[a])

10 Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.”

11 “Sir,” the woman said, “you have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where can you get this living water? 12 Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did also his sons and his livestock?”

13 Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, 14 but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

15 The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water so that I won’t get thirsty and have to keep coming here to draw water.”

16 He told her, “Go, call your husband and come back.”

17 “I have no husband,” she replied.

Jesus said to her, “You are right when you say you have no husband. 18 The fact is, you have had five husbands, and the man you now have is not your husband. What you have just said is quite true.”

19 “Sir,” the woman said, “I can see that you are a prophet. 20 Our ancestors worshiped on this mountain, but you Jews claim that the place where we must worship is in Jerusalem.”

21 “Woman,” Jesus replied, “believe me, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. 22 You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews. 23 Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. 24 God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”

25 The woman said, “I know that Messiah” (called Christ) “is coming. When he comes, he will explain everything to us.”

26 Then Jesus declared, “I, the one speaking to you—I am he.”

The Disciples Rejoin Jesus

27 Just then his disciples returned and were surprised to find him talking with a woman. But no one asked, “What do you want?” or “Why are you talking with her?”

28 Then, leaving her water jar, the woman went back to the town and said to the people, 29 “Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Messiah?” 30 They came out of the town and made their way toward him. ,

V39. Many of the Samaritans believe in Jesus because of the woman’s testimony, he told me everything I ever did.

Reflection: Jesus knew how this woman felt inwardly. She trusted men to give her the love she needed and they failed her each time. Jesus used the subject of “water” to start a conversation with the Samaritan woman telling her that she would receive living water which is salvation and eternal life if she believed in God and trusted God for her life. God is a Spirit and He desires true worship in spirit and in truth. The Samaritans believed worship was to be a place at Mount Gerizim. She stated that she heard the Messiah was coming and would explain everything. She was surprised when Jesus told her that He was the Messiah and asked her to call her husband knowing that she had five husbands and the man she was living with was not her husband.

Are you in a situation that troubles you and you need to take your burdens to God. Do you feel frustrated with the way your life is going? If so, let us pray. Father in the name of Jesus, I pray for you, that woman out there who needs God’s touch of restoration, and inner strength and hope to live again, to feel joy again, and to have purpose in your life. You said Lord that whatsoever is bound on earth is also bound in heaven and whatsoever is loose on earth is loose in heaven. In the name of Jesus, I bind the strongholds in your life that are causing you pain and grief and loose you to live the life that God has prepared for you before the foundation of the world.

The purpose of this podcast is to provide emotional healing and restoration to stay at home and working mothers who have had a difficult past and are currently experiencing difficulties. A focal point of this podcast is reflecting on the scripture verses and praying for the needs of my audience. I pray as you listen to this episode, that God would bless you with inner-strength, purpose, and provide you with the hope that you have been longing for. Today’s podcast is taken from Galatians 6:9-10. I am reading from the NIV version of the Bible.

Galatians 6:9-10

9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. 10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.

Who am I addressing today? Are you a stay-at-home mom caring for a special-needs child/adult or an elderly parent? Are you a teacher working with special-needs children or children who have difficulty learning? Are you a mom working extremely hard on a job and supervising a staff? Are you a nurse/ nurse-practitioner, psychiatrists, working with patients, and you feel burnt out? Are you providing in-home care for elderly patients? Whatever situation you find yourself in, I believe that this message is for you.

Working with someone, whether it is your own child or your elderly parent, can be draining. I know this for a fact because I have been caring for my special-needs daughter for many years. She is able to walk and talk, but she can become resistant sometimes and I feel like throwing in the towel, but God is telling me to be calm, loving, and be patient. Maybe, you have a resistant parent, student, patient, or staff member, but God is telling you to use another strategy to encourage them all to comply with what you are helping them to achieve. We are speaking about love and patience.

When you love someone, you love them the same way as God loves you. Sometimes, we love someone based on their actions, but what if that person’s actions do not measure up to our expectations? That is the problem many of us face. In Mark 12:30 God says that you and I should love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. In verse 31,God commands us to love our neighbor as we love ourselves. Love is unconditional and not based on a person’s actions. Can you look at yourself and say that you truly love someone from a pure heart? I want to be transparent and say I am a work in progress.

I believe when you love someone, you become patient with that person. The Bible states in 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 that, 4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

So, moms, caretakers, teachers dealing with special-need children/adults, workers working with mental health patients, or the elderly, women working as supervisors or managers dealing with a staff or a boss that is demanding, love those who are in authority over you and the ones to whom you supervise. Because love leads to patience and kindness, put on love which will sustain and keep you for a long time to come.. God will perfect you and you will reap a harvest if you do not give up. God is who gives the harvest so He may give you long life, raises on your job, and/or healing.

Reflection:

We learned that whatever we face in our own households, on the job or wherever we go, we must exercise love and patience with all. We should not be weary of doing well, for we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Love is a command set by God in Mark 12:30-31 to love God and our neighbor. Love leads to kindness and patience. We love unconditionally just as God loves us.

Let us pray:

Father, I pray in the name of Jesus, for all mothers: stay at home as well as working mothers who deal with children/adults, patients, students, and staff, that you will give them strength to cope with their constituents Lord. I ask Lord, that you will give them wisdom and understanding to know that love is patient and that when they exercise patience and love that their constituents will be better able to cope and they will become better providers or managers, not weary in well doing or wanting to give up, but able to reap a harvest in due season.

Psalm 91

1 Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.[a]
2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”

3 Surely he will save you
from the fowler’s snare
and from the deadly pestilence.
4 He will cover you with his feathers,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
5 You will not fear the terror of night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,
6 nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
nor the plague that destroys at midday.
7 A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
8 You will only observe with your eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked.

9 If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,”
and you make the Most High your dwelling,
10 no harm will overtake you,
no disaster will come near your tent.
11 For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways;
12 they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread on the lion and the cobra;
you will trample the great lion and the serpent.

14 “Because he[b] loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him;
I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
15 He will call on me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life I will satisfy him
and show him my salvation.”

Reflection:

We see from Psalm 91, that you and I are guaranteed to have refuge in God when we trust Him. We will not fear when our enemies try to attack us, because God is our refuge, our covering, our shield, and rampart. God promises to rescue us and protect us because we acknowledge Him. He promises to be with us in our troubles and deliver us and show us His salvation. What an awesome promise!

Let us pray:

In the name of Jesus, I pray for you who are going through a difficult time that you will not give up but believe and trust in God’s mighty name. I pray that you will understand fully that God is your covering and shield and that God is with you in your battles and He will never leave or forsake you. I decree and declare that you have deliverance in the name of Jesus Christ our savior and Lord. Amen

Isaiah 30: 15-21

15 This is what the Sovereign Lord, the Holy One of Israel, says:

“In repentance and rest is your salvation,
in quietness and trust is your strength,
but you would have none of it.
16 You said, ‘No, we will flee on horses.’
Therefore you will flee!
You said, ‘We will ride off on swift horses.’
Therefore your pursuers will be swift!
17 A thousand will flee
at the threat of one;
at the threat of five
you will all flee away,
till you are left
like a flagstaff on a mountaintop,
like a banner on a hill.”

18 Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you;
therefore he will rise up to show you compassion.
For the Lord is a God of justice.
Blessed are all who wait for him!

19 People of Zion, who live in Jerusalem, you will weep no more. How gracious he will be when you cry for help! As soon as he hears, he will answer you. 20 Although the Lord gives you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, your teachers will be hidden no more; with your own eyes you will see them. 21 Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”

Reflection:

When you read the previous verses, we realize that God warned the jews, his people of the consequences of their sins. They were not kind to the prophets who told the truth concerning heading God’s word and walking in the way of the Lord. Today, these same words pertain to us. We are to repent and turn our backs to sin and walk in the way of the Lord. The Lord is patient and will wait for us. When we call on him, He will answer us.

Let us pray:

Father, I pray in the name of Jesus for all of your children, that they will not stray from your purpose anymore, that they will come before you with open arms repenting and turning their backs against sin and receiving you as their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Have mercy Lord on all who need help in Jesus’ name, Amen.

God Still Heals Today

2 Kings 20:1-7

In those days Hezekiah became ill and was at the point of death. The prophet Isaiah son of Amoz went to him and said, “This is what the Lord says: Put your house in order, because you are going to die; you will not recover.”

2 Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed to the Lord, 3 “Remember, Lord, how I have walked before you faithfully and with wholehearted devotion and have done what is good in your eyes.” And Hezekiah wept bitterly.

4 Before Isaiah had left the middle court, the word of the Lord came to him: 5 “Go back and tell Hezekiah, the ruler of my people, ‘This is what the Lord, the God of your father David, says: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears; I will heal you. On the third day from now you will go up to the temple of the Lord. 6 I will add fifteen years to your life. And I will deliver you and this city from the hand of the king of Assyria. I will defend this city for my sake and for the sake of my servant David.’”

7 Then Isaiah said, “Prepare a poultice of figs.” They did so and applied it to the boil, and he recovered.

Reflection:

Friends, there is nothing too hard for God. Even when you are reaching the end of your rope, God can change things in your life when you call on him and when you believe in his mighty power. Hezekiah knew he was going to die. He wept when his son told him of his impending death, but he went to God and reminded God about how faithful he was to God and God heard his cries and added fifteen years to his life. God can do the same for you or your family member if you cry out to Him and believe in his mighty power.

Let us pray: Father, in the name of Jesus, I pray for every person listening to this broadcast who have been sick and nearing death, that you will have mercy on them and heal them. I pray that they will seek you with their whole heart for any other problem that they have and believe that you will deliver them from their situation. I pray in Jesus’ name, Amen.
