COMMUNITY TIME is a podcast for the DivaDance community, hosted by DivaDance Founder/CEO Jami Stigliano. We'll hear from instructors, clients, franchise partners, and the DivaDance corporate team - interesting folks who have made the DivaDance "squad" what it is. We'll talk about their experiences outside of the studio along with music, and dance, and pop culture, and most importantly we're going to have a lot of fun. Welcome to.... COMMUNITY TIME.
As we continue to celebrate Black Music Appreciation Month, we talk to Ashley-Lauren Elrod from our amazing DivaDance® NYC clients. She's been in some of our online class videos, and a client for over two years. Not only is Ashley a vibrant member of the DivaDance community, but she's also an accomplished singer/musician and runs her own casting company called Visionary Woman Productions.

Lydia Pappas was our very first hire in our very first franchise outside of NYC and Austin. An Atlanta native, this colorful instructor from our DivaDance® DC squad discusses how she pivoted from politics to sales, who her favorite Gaga is, the community she's discovered, and how much fun her classes are.

This month, we’re celebrating PRIDE at DivaDance.
What we love most about Pride month is that it brings ALL people together. Pride is colorful, fun, full of love, and that’s what we hope DivaDance embodies as well! We really celebrate Pride YEAR ROUND!
This year, knowing that most folks wouldn’t be able to celebrate Pride how they normally would, we felt we had a chance to bring Pride into people’s homes through our live streaming class and through virtual events. But rather than our HQ make all the programming selections, we assembled a Committee, made up of folks who are part of DivaDance that are also passionate about celebrating the LGBTQ+- to create an authentic and fun virtual celebration for the DivaDance community and beyond!
Let's welcome REBECCA THOMPSON (she/her) from our Chicago squad, who is a member of the first-ever PRIDE Committee.

We meet Brielle Welch - a client-turned-instructor from our DivaDance® New York City squad who is a former public school teacher now advocating for educators across the country. We'll hear about her life in quarantine in the Big Apple and why dancers of all body types should think of themselves as having "dancers bodies."

So this episode is not what we expected our next topic to be. We had a whole plan for instructor interviews, client interviews, clients asking questions like, "Which Spice Girl are you?" But given what's happening in the world, we felt it urgent and important to record a little something for our community that speaks to the uncertainty and overwhelm of COVID-19 that we know we're all feeling.
Meet Natalie Moore, who is a certified registered nurse anesthetist. She's also a mom, an instructor, and a newly-minted franchise owner of DivaDance® Florida Suncoast.
We have a responsibility to our community, nationwide, to educate and empower them so that we can do our part to get to the finish line of this coronavirus crisis faster, but at the same time, I know we are all trying to find our temporary new normal. Normal to me means still trying to find humor and light in anything we're experiencing. So if it's okay with you, we'd like to laugh a little during this episode, but by the way, it's also okay if you cry.
