In conversation again with Tim Wuebker. We discussed inflation, deflation, hard money, and the moral case for Bitcoin. I recall how the 2008 financial crisis led me to question the stability of traditional financial systems and eventually turned me towards Bitcoin, especially during the money-printing spree of 2020. We delved into the advantages of Bitcoin, such as its deflationary nature, portability, and cryptographic security, while also addressing the challenges, including its public ledger and the need for tech-savviness to manage private keys. It's always a good time to do a go-anywhere chat with Tim.

While bitcoin is in common parlance now in market commentary, politics, and internet culture, few understand what could be an idea hiding in plain sight. This is good news for us, as herein lies the opportunity.

In this episode, I delve into optimizing life while leaving a meaningful legacy. I critique the "Die With Zero" concept, popularized by Bill Perkins and others. Perkins stresses intentional living by managing time, wealth, and health effectively, but at the expense of family wealth and legacy.
I also explore the societal shift towards individualism and instant gratification and contrast it with the traditional values of family and legacy. The role of the family can be in providing support, guidance, and purpose. Building family wealth and nurturing intergenerational connections are ways to leave a lasting impact that extends beyond one's lifetime.

In this episode of The Reformed Financial Advisor podcast, I explore the topic of family wealth from a Catholic perspective. My guest is Dorian Antešić, a finance professional and Croatia's Catholic bitcoiner. We discuss his graduate school thesis on family wealth, Bitcoin, how Tucker Carlson said inheritance is a huge problem, a Benedictine monastery in Croatia, family dynasties, and the noblesse oblige. All in all an interesting conversation that combines legacy, finance, and the pursuit of generational prosperity.

Trey Sellers of Unchained and Andy Flattery discuss how bitcoin relates to the Financial Independence Retire Early (FIRE) movement.
Bitcoin allows individuals to hold their wealth in money itself rather than subpar assets like real estate, stocks, bonds, or gold. Sellers explains that the demonetization of assets occurs when traditional money loses value over time and individuals have to choose where to store their value. He argues that the monetary premium for these other assets, such as real estate and index funds, can be replaced with bitcoin as the global standard for wealth preservation.

Financial advice is limiting if the goal is to achieve potential or even reach high levels of achievement. "*So why won't there be bitcoin banks that do this (custody) for you? I think there will be, but there's always going to be one problem with this, which is that bitcoin transactions are irreversible. And so it's an inherent core change in the security model of bitcoin compared to the legacy banking system. And because of that, there's always going to be some level of additional risk with holding your bitcoin in a bitcoin bank."

It is my belief that yes, you can own individual stocks in your long-term holdings. While some financial advice tells you that mutual funds, ETFs, and robo advisors are your only option, I think they are missing the mark. An alternative path, as David Gardner put it, is to "find good companies and hold those positions tenaciously over time to yield multiples upon multiples of your original investment."

Eric Jorgenson did something incredible with his book "The Almanack of Naval Ravikant: A Guide to Wealth and Happiness." Eric curated the best of Naval’s wisdom from twitter, podcasts, and writings into one resource. I was only vaguely familiar with Naval’s work prior to reading the book and am grateful that Eric created the resource for learning more about him.
Naval Ravikant is the founder of Angel List, an early stage investor in companies like Twitter and Uber, and has one more popular Twitter accounts that I have seen. He's known for his thoughts on investing, entrepreneurship, crypto, and wealth.

How should Patrick Mahomes manage his wealth? After all, it is not every day that a Kansas City man in his 20s earns a $503 million contract. That sounds like a good question for two guys on the internet to podcast about.
To do that, I enlisted the help of Ethan Hutcheson, AAMS®. Ethan is a Wealth Manager at Metcalf Partners Wealth Management in Overland Park, KS and a Patrick Mahomes superfan.

I think the student loan crisis is one of the key financial issues of the day, especially for my generation. That is why I wanted to discuss the issue with Ryan Derks. Ryan is a Financial Advisor like me and he’s also a candidate for US Congress here in the state of Missouri. Ryan has some interesting ideas on how to fix the student loan crisis on a policy level.
So we’re going to get into it in this podcast. What is the student loan crisis? What is the magnitude of it? Most importantly, how do we get out of it? Lastly, you’ll hear about how we got into the Student Loan crisis and how the federal government has contributed to it.
