Chris Trieste has over 20 years of experience in K-12 education as a teacher, school administrator, athletic director, and coordinator of physical education. Over the past 10 years, Chris has coached many different sports from elementary through high school. He has extensive experience in tennis, serving as the head men’s tennis coach at Mount Saint Mary College where he was named Coach of the Year twice and led that team to its first conference championship in program history.
Chris currently lives in Hudson Valley, NY with his wife and 3 kids and serves as the district coordinator of physical education and health at White Plains City School District.

Dr. Jeffrey Zoul is a lifelong teacher, learner, and leader, currently serving as Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning with Deerfield Public Schools District 109 in Deerfield, Illinois. Prior to working in this capacity, Jeff served as a district administrator in Rock Island, Illinois, and a school improvement specialist with Southern Regional Education Board (SREB), the nation’s largest and oldest non-profit school improvement network. Jeff also served as a principal with Forsyth County Schools in Cumming, Georgia, and with North Shore School District 112 in Highland Park, Illinois.
Before serving as an administrator, Dr. Zoul was a classroom teacher for 18 years in the State of Georgia, teaching elementary school, middle school, and high school English. Jeff has also served as an adjunct professor at North Georgia College and State University, teaching graduate level courses in research and assessment.

Toni Cameron has worked as a mathematics educator and writer for the past twenty years and is currently the Director of Professional Development at Metamorphosis Teaching Learning Communities. In this capacity, she is responsible for coaching consultants and for developing all the elementary professional development offered by MTLC. Her recent publication, Agents of Change, How Content Coaching Transforms Teaching, co-authored with Lucy West, who I had the honor to interview back in episode 122, is used nationally as a tool to mentor coaches and other leaders. Toni is also working on a book on early childhood routines that will be published in 2017.
Toni has served as Co-Director with Cathy Fosnot of Mathematics in the City (MitC), a national center for professional development at City College of the City University New York. As co-principal investigator of an NSF-funded project, she co-authored the fifteen facilitator-guides that were part of the Young Mathematicians at Work CD-ROMs. She and her colleagues cultivated an extraordinary capacity to develop student learning in the teachers they coached. In addition, she co-authored two units (“Games” and “Muffles’ Truffles”) in the curriculum, Contexts for Learning published by Heinemann.
Ms. Cameron designed Collaborative Communities of Practice, a groundbreaking professional development model for New York City’s Department of Education. This model served as the foundation for the mathematics collaborative coaching community implemented by Toni in over 100 schools in collaboration with Carol Teague in Region 8 of New York. Toni continues to refine this practice in her Principal and Coaching Learning Communities at Metamorphosis.
Together at Metamorphosis Teaching Learning Communities, Toni and Lucy and their team use content coaching as a vehicle to transform education in the US and abroad. Toni's passion is improving teaching so that all students can have access to the best education possible.

Dr. Megan Slocum has worked as a teacher, principal, Superintendent, and is currently the Associate Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction for the Springdale School District in Northwest Arkansas. She also helps maintain the Springdale Public Schools YouTube channel.
Megan is passionate about serving students and parents to help all learners achieve their potential each day. She was awarded the Arkansas Rural Education Superintendent of the Year in 2013 and has served as Assistant Commissioner of Education for the Arkansas Department of Education. Dr. Beth Russell has been in education for 28 years. Prior to entering the field of education, Beth was a social worker working with children on emotional and behavioral challenges in treatment foster care. Beth is the former principal of South View Middle School in a suburb of Minneapolis. She holds a BS in child development and family relations from Colorado State University, a master’s degree in social work from the University of Minnesota, and a doctorate in educational policy and administration from the University of Minnesota. Beth has worked in both urban and suburban school systems introducing type. Coauthor of Differentiated School Leadership and several articles for education publications, she views type theory as a vehicle for helping students self-advocate for how they learn best and helping teachers identify new strategies so that all students can learn. She has presented at NSDC, World Futures, ASCD (formerly the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development), and National Urban Alliance conferences. She has participated in the National Institute for School Leadership, trained at the Institute for Learning at the University of Pittsburgh, and directed the Minneapolis Public Schools in implementing a comprehensive framework for teaching and learning. Beth volunteers as an assessor for the University of St. Thomas Principal Assessment Center and provides peer reviews for educational books for Free Spirit Publishing.

Ben Bruni is an Assistant Principal at Adairville Elementary and Middle School, a rural Preschool through 8th grade school located in Logan Co. Kentucky. This is his 14th year in public education and his second as an Assistant Principal. Prior to becoming an Assistant Principal, he spent the first decade of his career as a high school English teacher and Head Football Coach. He also spent two deeply impactful years working as a program director in an urban Alternative School. Lucy West has been a mover and shaker in the world of education for over 30 years. Since the mid-nineties Ms. West has been at the forefront of the movement to increase classroom discourse and infuse it with rigor and equity. Ms. West began her career in New York City Public Schools as a second grade teacher. Later, while serving the city as the Director of Mathematics for Community School District 2, Lucy invented a capacity building process for cultivating teacher leaders and highly-skilled mathematics coaches that was the inspiration for other coaching initiatives in districts as far reaching as Boston and San Diego. As the Deputy Superintendent of Region 9 in NYC (a Region serving close to 200 schools), she designed systems to scale up the coaching model she had crafted for District 2 and brokered collaborations that brought universities into partnership with the Region. Her partnership work with Bank Street College resulted in bringing dozens of highly-skilled teachers into the South Bronx-- one of the nation’s poorest “hard-to- staff” congressional districts. Lucy also served as a teacher supervisor with a Columbia University Professional Development School, an instructor within Bank Street College, and an Assistant Principal of PS 234 (one of NYC’s most successful and acclaimed schools).

Penny Sturtevant is in her 30th year as an educator and her 9th year as an administrator. She has worn many different hats along the way, including 1 year as a special needs teacher to mental health students in an institutional setting, a 7-12th grade science teacher in a small rural school, and as a school counselor for 14 years. An experienced educator who has led a number of private institutions for nearly 30 years, Jim Power is the 13th Head of Schools of Culver Academies. Culver Academies is a college preparatory boarding high school comprised of Culver Military Academy and Culver Girls Academy. The Academies’ enrollment consists of 800 students from 38 states and 23 countries.

Dr. Ryan B. Marie Criste is currently the Coordinator of Instructional Technology for the Roseville Joint Union High School District with over 10,000 students and 550 teachers outside of Sacramento, California. Kermit Ward is entering his 21st year in education and is currently the principal of Connally High School. Kermit is going into his seventh year in Pflugerville ISD in Austin, TX. Kermit's first three years in Pflugerville were spent at the middle school, which was a low performing school at that time, and just two years later, Kermit led that school to achieve the maximum of 7 different distinctions. School Superintendent Jay Eitner is a proud product of the New Jersey public schools. A graduate from Union High School in 1997, Jay attended The American University in Washington DC with a BA in interdisciplinary studies. He began his teaching career in Roselle, NJ teaching a variety of subjects, including social studies, computers, and literacy. Known for being ‘outside of the box’ and for strong technology infusion, Eitner strived to make a learning environment that was both student centered and data driven. Jay received his Masters Degree in 2004 and was hired to teach 8th grade social studies in the nationally recognized East Brunswick Public Schools. During his time in East Brunswick, Eitner has written and received over $140,000 in grants for his students. Grants ranged from podcasting equipment to creating a fully-interactive goldrush experience, where students dug for gold during their westward expansion unit. Jay obtained his supervisor, principal, and school administrator certificates from the NJPSA NJ-EXCEL program in 2009. Administratively, Eitner has served as a middle school Assistant Principal, a K-12 Supervisor of Social Studies, and has been a Superintendent of Schools in two districts. She has more than 30 years of school experience as a teacher, assistant principal, principal and district administrator. John Fleischman is the Assistant Superintendent of Technology Services at the Sacramento County Office of Education and is responsible for all of the information and educational technology operations for the SCOE districts. John has an extensive background creating and implementing informational and instructional media for use in a variety of educational environments. Michael Watkins was born and raised in Oakland, California. He attended Cal State Hayward where he was awarded a B.A. in Psychology and teaching credentials in both History and Special Education. He also received a Master’s Degree in School Administration. Michael has over 45 years’ experience in education. He has held the positions of Learning Handicapped Program Specialist, Director of Special Education, Director of Alternative Education and is now the elected Santa Cruz County Superintendent of Schools, a position that he has held for nearly 10 years.

Kim Marshall school in the nation (founded in 1639). Being an instructional leader turned out to be quite a bit more complicated than he’d imagined, but Kim eventually got the hang of it. Anne Schaefer-Salinas is a 3rd year administrator and 20+ year educator who currently works at an all-girls high school in the San Francisco Bay Area. Anne currently serves as the Associate Principal, directing all curricular programs including educational technology. She works hard to be a connected educator herself and to keep up with ed tech trends in order to model and lead for the faculty, students, and parents. Anne is also passionate about integrating Design Thinking and problem-based learning (PBL) into the classroom. To this end, she regularly presents at CUE (Computer Using Educators) and Google Apps For Education (GAFE) events working to share her message with other Administrators. Daryl Pearson and Nancy Madsen are the principal and vice-principal team of Jubilee Community School in Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan in Canada. Jubilee is a Pre-k through 4th grade school with around 320 students and is one of 24 schools in the Northwest School Division. Dr. Judy D. White is the Superintendent for California’s Moreno Valley Unified School District, with 3,400 employees and more than 34,000 students. She has more than 35 years of experience in education. Prior to her current appointment made five years ago, she served as Deputy Superintendent for San Bernardino City Unified School District. Dr. White has been a teacher, principal, assistant superintendent for Educational Services, and deputy superintendent for Program Improvement, Curriculum/Instruction and Accountability & Research. Mark White is in his 34th year in education. He started off as a teacher, then moved into the role of principal of Hintgen Elementary School in LaCrosse, Wisconsin, where he has served for the past 26 years. Mark has been a member and has served in many different leadership roles in the National Association of Elementary School Principals (or NAESP) since 1988 and was even elected president of that organization for the 2014-2015 school year. Mark has served as a State Representative, on the Resolutions Committee, and as a Federal Regulations Coordinator. In addition, as Director of Zone 6, he represented principals from Iowa, Michigan, and Wisconsin. Mark is also a longtime member of the Association of Winconsin School Administrators, also serving that organization as president in 2003.

He then transitioned into the field of educational administration as an Athletic Director/Supervisor of Physical Education & Health and Vice Principal in the New Milford School District. During his administrative career he has served as District Affirmative Action Officer and was the president of the New Milford Administrator’s Association. During his tenure as high school principal he successfully implemented numerous initiatives including a new teacher evaluation system (McREL), Bring Your Own Device (BYOD), oversaw Common Core implementation, and initiated a new grading philosophy. Eric received his M.Ed. in Educational Administration from East Stroudsburg University, B.S. in Biology from Salisbury University, and his B.S. in Marine/Environmental Science from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.

A twenty-plus-year educator, Nathan Barber has served in a number of roles including teacher, coach and administrator. He currently serves as a high school principal at an independent school in Houston. Kirk Linton is a Vice Principal with the Calgary Catholic School District and is the recipient of the 2015 Distinguished Vice Principal of the Year award from the Canadian Association of Principals and the 2015 Alberta Distinguished Leadership Award from the Council for School Leadership. He is a champion of inquiry-based learning, technology in schools, physical literacy and the Arts. He is also a trumpet player and recovering band teacher.

Her biggest musical accomplishment was being asked to perform for Pope Benedict XVI in Rome during November, 2012 concert tour throughout Italy, and playing the organ at St. Peter’s Cathedral during a mass. Dan McMinimee joined Jeffco Public Schools (serving the greater Denver area) on July 1, 2014 as superintendent. He has spent his professional life of 28 years devoted to public education. Melinda Miller is a 21 year veteran teacher and administrator for Willard Schools in Willard, Missouri. She is passionate about connecting and sharing with other educators and believes in the power of connections and networks to facilitate personal and professional growth. In 2008, Melinda was voted Southwest Missouri’s New Principal of the Year, and in 2010, she was chosen to participate in the Google Teacher Academy to become a Google Certified Teacher. From 2012 to 2014, she served as the president of the Southwest Missouri Association of Elementary School Principals and in 2015, Melinda was selected to represent her region as a Distinguished Principal candidate.
Melinda has been a leader in educational technology and has presented on multiple technology topics across the state, including three annual EdcampSGF unconferences she has organized herself.

Dr. Adam Drummond is a veteran educator who has served as an elementary and middle school teacher, K-12 technology specialist, elementary and secondary professional development coordinator, assistant principal, and most recently as a principal. He earned his doctorate in education in 2014 from Ball State University, and currently serves as the Zone 5 Board of Directors for the National Association of Elementary School Principals. He and his wife Tiffanney, have three children and reside in Huntington, IN.

Dr. Susan Bunting has been superintendent of the Indian River School District since July 2006. Prior to assuming the head leadership position she spent 28 years in the district as a middle school language arts teacher, an elementary gifted/talented teacher, Supervisor of Elementary Instruction and K-12 Director of Instruction. An experienced conference presenter at both state and national conferences, Dr. Bunting co-created Indian River’s Leadership Institute, which has been recognized as a Superstar in Education by the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce. Additionally, she designed and leads the district’s Administrative Development Program, and created Project V.I.L.L.A.G.E., the district’s program for economically challenged four-year-olds. In 2012, Bunting was nominated as one of the four finalists for the National Superintendent of the Year award by the American Association of School Administrators—the first superintendent in Delaware to achieve this distinction.
