Navy veteran Kimberly Barrow established a family health clinic after practicing as a registered nurse for nearly a decade. Most of her time was spent at the bedside caring for acutely ill patients in Level 1 trauma centers and other hospitals. Many of  her patients were uninsured with limited financial resources. Unsettled by the healthcare disparities and limited access to care, she decided to take action. After obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from The University of Central Florida, she went on to obtain a Master’s of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas Health and Science Center in Houston. The following year, she opened a practice using a self-designed model to deliver top-notch, cost-efficient care. Kimberly is credentialed through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Program to treat adults and children and is a member of several other professional organizations.Website www.kcaresmore.comInstagram @kimberly_cares_llc--- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

Episode 43

Everyone's journey has a starting point. Bonnie began when she was twelve years old and I started running track and field. She loved the fact that the sport took no more than my body and a pair of shoes. Track continued to be her passion all throughout highschool and college.

After a fairly successful college career she was left with the same void that many collegiate athletes are left with... What now? After a few unsuccessful attempts at forcing herself to enjoy long distance running, she found a group of bodybuilders at her gym, and she finally filled thatvoid.

She trained in a bodybuilding style for four years and enjoyed discovering the ability to shape and mold her body how she wanted.

After trying CrossFit and Powerlifting she developed a newfound passion for lifting weights. After three months of training she registered for her first Powerlifting meet, won her weight class and was hooked after that! After countless meets as an athlete and coach, and spending many years in this sport it gave her the confidence she needed to step out of her comfort zone time and time again.

The barbell gave her the ability to look at life with a completely new perspective, create a business, and grow...literally. She’s here to share her story from collegiate sports to Powerlifting to Business.

Rochelle Porter has never met a blank surface she didn’t want to draw on. A lifelong lover of global design traditions, the Atlanta-based artist takes cues from the breezy hues of her Caribbean roots, the stark simplicity of Scandinavian design and the boldness of West African weaves to create vibrant, eye-catching textiles for athleisure, accessories and home decor. Her travel-inspired patterns feature joyful, unexpected bursts of color, and classic motifs with a fresh, modern twist. After learning of the unethical labor practices of today’s “fast fashion” industry, Rochelle nearly abandoned her dream of becoming a designer. That is, until she discovered that style could also be sustainable. Combining her passion for patterns with her commitment to responsible manufacturing, she created Rochelle Porter Design (RPD), a lifestyle brand specializing in thoughtfully made goods. True to its tagline, “Design for abundant living,” the company believes everyone along the value chain should have the chance to live well—from the farmer who picks the pesticide-free organic cotton for its textiles, to the customer who puts them on her sofa. RPD prioritizes fair pay and the use of organic materials whenever possible.
