Do you have trouble creating and holding your business boundaries?
As service providers, it can sometimes feel hard to enforce the boundaries that we’ve created but then, when we don’t, we often feel taken advantage of and burned out.
Our guest today, Jackie Ellis, shared her journey of moving from running a gym to running a successful Facebook ads agency and how important she’s found building boundaries along the way.
Jackie and I dive into the challenges of establishing and maintaining boundaries, especially for women and moms in the online business space. We discuss the common struggle of feeling the need to be available at all times and the impact it can have on both our personal and professional lives.
Key Points Covered:
Listen to the episode for tips on how Jackie implemented boundaries in her agency, such as setting strict working hours, avoiding work-related activities in certain spaces, and respecting her team's boundaries. One of the highlights of the episode is our discussion on the importance of leading by example and supporting your online team in upholding boundaries to create a cohesive and respectful work environment.

In this episode I'm sharing valuable insights on how to "agencify" or productize your offers and create a scalable offer system for your online agency.
Why is this important? By templatizing your offers, you're able to carry out your services in the exact same or very similar way from client to client, no matter which team member is assigned to the project. It creates time efficiency and saves you money when you're not reinventing the wheel every time. And last but not least, it allows the services process to run without you!
In this episode we'll be walking through these 5 steps to agencify your offers:
Creating a scalable offer system may take time but is essential for freeing up your time and allowing your agency to run smoothly without your constant involvement.

In the final episode of this 2-part series, we delved into the importance of creating company core values. Core values serve as guiding principles that uphold a business's beliefs and conduct. They're a personal and intentional promise to you, to your company, to your team and to your clients about what they can expect and depend on.
In this episode, we break down:
Take action today by creating or revisiting your agency's core values, sharing them with your team, and posting them online or on your business' website to ensure consistent alignment with these values.

In this episode, I'm sharing a fast and furious list of the 10 Things Successful Agency Owners Have in Common (plus a couple bonus tips too).
Between my three different coaching programs, where I'm working with close to 100 different agency owners at all different stages in their journey, I've been able to see first hand the commonalities that set successful agency owners apart.
1 - Mastering Delegation: Successful agency owners practice the art of delegation, understanding that they can't do everything themselves.
2 - Handling Tough Conversations: They may not enjoy it, but they don't shy away from difficult discussions, knowing that addressing issues early prevents bigger problems later.
3 - Prioritizing Effectively: They focus on what's truly important and avoid getting sidetracked by tasks that may not be necessary at the moment.
4 - Staying on Top of Your Numbers: Knowing their numbers is crucial for maintaining profitability and making informed decisions.
5 - Balancing Work and Personal Life: Having hobbies and interests outside of their business makes them better CEOs by providing fresh perspectives.
6 - Being Proactive, Not Reactive: Anticipating needs and planning ahead helps them avoid "Oh crap" moments and stay ahead of the curve.
7 - Consistent Marketing and Sales: They make lead generation and sales activities a non-negotiable part of their routine.
8 - Learning to Say No: They understand the importance of setting boundaries to focus on what truly matters for their business and personal life.
9 - Their Team is Now Their Clients: They shift their focus from client support to team support, recognizing that a well-supported team will take good care of clients.
10 - They Don't Major in the Minors: They don't sweat the small stuff and allow minor issues to derail their focus or their business.
BONUS TIP #1 - Embracing Failure as a Lesson: They view failures as opportunities for improvement rather than a closed door.
BONUS TIP #2 - Decisiveness: They aren't afraid to make decisions, understanding that indecision can be more harmful than making an imperfect choice.
I hope this list resonates with you and helps you identify areas where you can align your actions and mindset with those of successful agency owners. Let me know which traits you connect with the most by reaching out on Instagram at @thetashabooth.

In this week's episode of the How She Did That podcast, I’m sharing how to cultivate self-leadership within your online agency team. I am a firm believer that every single member of your team, no matter their role, is a leader in their own right and it is my responsibility as CEO to help them develop those skills! By supporting them in seeing themselves as leaders and providing opportunities for growth, you can foster a culture of ownership, dedication and excellence within your company.
In this episode, I share how you can inspire the same leadership and autonomy in your own team:

In this week's episode of the How She Did That podcast, I dive into the transformative changes we've made to our leadership team meetings to enhance productivity and maintain focus on our business goals. As a high quick start business owner with unmedicated ADHD, I found that our previous approach led to chaos and a lack of direction. We'd start the year with a strategic plan, only to lose sight of it as time went on.
To combat this, we've implemented a new structure for our weekly leadership meetings, ensuring we stay aligned with our goals and can adjust our strategies in real-time.
In this week's episode I'm sharing:
By sharing this behind-the-scenes look at our leadership meetings, I hope to inspire other agency owners to refine their processes and create a business they love.

In this week’s episode, we’re going back to basics! It’s been a while since I spoke about my signature process called the Me to We Framework, which is the foundation of my coaching process for agency owners. This 6-step framework was created to take you from being a solopreneur to being able to fully embrace the CEO role in your agency and includes everything from “agency-fying” your offer, hiring, and handling those nasty mindset gremlins that will inevitably creep up!

In my three day workshop I hosted this week for online agency owners, I talked about one of the hardest but necessary conversations in business - money and how to be intentional with the money we bring in and spend within our agencies. One of the keys to profitability in an agency is making money! Seems kind of obvious, right? But obvious doesn’t mean easy or guaranteed. It takes work and it requires intentionality. In order to make money, you need clients. And in order to get clients, you need a steady stream of leads. So in this week’s episode, we’re talking about the 4 ways my agency, The Launch Guild, gets clients. Even if your client roster is currently full, this is important information for you too, because what so many agency owners have learned the hard way is that stability can be ripped right out from under you before you even see it coming. You HAVE to be prepared.

We hear all the time that diversifying our revenue is something that we need to do, but no one tells us how to do it. As service based business owners, we are so used to serving and supporting others that the idea of doing anything other than that can be intimidating. This is why today I want to talk about how to diversify your revenue streams as a service based business, whether you are a solopreneur or an agency owner, and offer insight into some options you might be able to explore such as affiliate marketing, online courses, workshops, or creating digital products.

Update! New episodes of How She Did That will now be released on Fridays instead of Thursdays. 🙂 In this episode we are talking about why more isn’t always better. Are you struggling with the sustainability and profitability of your agency? There has been a lot of talk in the online space recently around 2023 being a year of contraction rather than expansion. A lot of you may be wondering what this means for the future and questioning if owning an agency model business is sustainable. The short answer is, YES it absolutely is! But the long answer is what we’re diving into today. So, if you’re curious to know what it means to have an agency that offers you “deeper” support rather than “wider” support and you’re looking for some guidance on what your options for 2024 could look like, this episode is for you!

Happy New Year to all you How She Did That listeners! I am so excited to share with you all of the things I am ready for and looking forward to in 2024. I have a rock solid team that I feel great about, we already have new members joining us inside of The Agency Thrivemind, and in February I start my brand new program Expansive with a group of ladies I have known for a long time and absolutely adore! I’m also planning on hosting several live events again this year because last year they were a HUGE success!

One thing I noticed about myself last year was I felt like I had to overdo things in order to make up for lost ground when expectations or goals in my business weren’t met. This may sound like a good strategy, BUT my philosophy is that when you focus on everything, you are focusing on nothing. So, what is a better strategy? That’s what we are diving into on this episode, so get out your pen and notepad and listen closely! I know these tips will resonate with you and hopefully lead you into an amazing Q1 in 2024.

Something that I see a lot of from the women inside of Agency Thrivemind is the fear around being disconnected from your team and your clients as the CEO of your agency. Whether you keep your agency small or large, where you fit within your agency and what you are doing day to day is going to shift and change as you grow. But once you start working more behind the scenes, stop being client-facing, and start doing less of (or none of) the implementation and delivery, I know the fear is that things will fall through the cracks and that your clients won't get the same client experience as they would working directly with you. So today I’m giving you some tips on how to stay connected with your team and with your clients as the CEO of your agency!

This episode is all about one of my least favorite topics ever... numbers. As CEOs of our agencies, we have to do the hard work that isn’t always fun, but is necessary. And while I love watching numbers pile up in terms of money, I do not necessarily love documenting them or tracking them, especially when things aren't going as well, right? Whether you are a newer agency owner or more seasoned like myself, I still want you to listen to this episode because even I need to be reminded of these things! Today I'm giving you five numbers that you need to stay on top of in your agency, and how to do it in a way that’s easy and makes sense!

Welcome to Season 10 of The How She Did That Podcast! This month marks the 5 year anniversary of this podcast, and I am super excited to introduce you to this new series we have prepared.
This season is going to be a series all about owning and growing an agency, and it will be strictly solo episodes of just me, myself, and I, because I am in a place where this is a very strong primary focus of mine! (In addition to hosting live events, which you will hear more about soon!)
We are kicking off this series by talking about crafting a reimagined vision for your agency. I've noticed that a lot of us agency owners are falling into a cycle of feeling overwhelmed, overworked, and underpaid, when the whole reason we started an agency in the first place was to avoid exactly that!! If this sounds like you, then you are in the right place. In this episode I give you 5 steps to pull yourself out of the cycle and closer to that reimagined vision of what it is you really want.

As a result, she didn’t charge enough for her services because she struggled with reconciling and making a profit with spiritual beliefs. Today she is sharing how she was able to shed that toxic theology, which was the catalyst for re-imagining other aspects of her faith that created more expansiveness for her to prosper.
Through her coaching programs, innovative workshops, wisdom-filled books, empowering sister circles, and speaking events, she passionately challenges people to shed societal “shoulds” and outdated beliefs so they can live courageous, purpose-centered lives.

We are back! Welcome to season 9 of the How She Did That Podcast.
I’ve spoken in previous episodes about how 2022 was a really hard year for me. I was doing the bare minimum day to day to keep my business going. It wasn’t until the end of 2022 and early 2023 that I started to feel like me again, and in episode 150 I share more about how I did this!
It occurred to me that so many of us are walking around fighting battles that those on the outside know nothing about, and we often feel so completely alone. I wanted to create a conversation around this – around connecting our humanity and, sometimes brokenness, to how we navigate running our businesses through the heartache.
This series is called How She Overcame because our stories don't end at our brokenness. Our stories continue.
In this series you’ll hear stories from some women who are surviving great loss, and others who are working through their own self doubt. Both are valid examples of how they overcame. This series may be hard to listen to at times, but I know that in one of these stories, someone will hear something that will make them feel less alone – and that’s important!

I am so excited to chat with one of the members of The Agency Thrivemind today! My guest, Mary Zargarian and her agency partner with teams and organizations to leverage their strengths in business and build systems to handle the rest. She joined The Agency Thrivemind when she was very early on in her agency growth, and it has been absolutely amazing to not only see the growth in her business, but to watch her grow as a leader and an agency owner over the past year!
Mary shares her story of how she went from consulting > to hiring a team > to now owning a thriving agency - and how she has embraced the evolution of her business despite sometimes having those reservations about giving up and going back into corporate. She continues to trust her intuition when it comes to hiring and placing team members within her agency.
We talk about:
I tried looking up how many decisions we make in a day. The results were anywhere from 267 to 35,000! That’s quite a range!
Either way, some decisions are easy (like do I want to take an extra nap today? = no brainer!), but others require a little more to process. Sometimes no matter how much fact-finding we try to do, we just have to pick a side and take action. This is especially true when it comes to our businesses, because that action helps bring clarity. This week I’m chatting with Hunter Lowder, co-owner of Tortoise & The Bear. Hunter shares how she’s been able to lean into her experience as a mindset coach and business strategist, and support entrepreneurs in creating and prioritizing the growth of their business in a sustainable way. After suffering severe burnout herself, Hunter knows it’s more important than ever to tune into your body’s signals of when to take a step back versus when to lean in through the ‘scaries’ and take the right next step in your business.
We talk about:
Let’s face it, no matter who we are, we all want successful launches within our business. After all, you’ve invested the time creating an offer to transform your audience. . . but they have to say ‘yes’ to what we’re selling in order to get the results.
I’ve worn lots of hats as a launch manager, founder of a launch management agency, creator of a launch manager certification program, and business owner who has launched her own products and programs. I know it’s so important to be able to set those realistic good, better, and best goals as well as establish strategic timelines to complete the copy and design and integrate all the tech.
This week I’m chatting with Nikki Rausch of Your Sales Maven. As an entrepreneur with over 25 years experience, Nikki has a unique ability to help business owners sell successfully and authentically. She acts as a ‘sales guide’ to help them maximize the impact of their launch by advising on all things copy, design, closing calls, and strategy.

Aubree has grown her TikTok presence to over 290 THOUSAND engaged followers, and today she shares with us her best getting started tips for how she did that!

You’ve heard the quote, “A woman who changes her hair is about to change her life,” right? Well, a woman who rebrands her company is about to change the world!
It’s natural for us to grow and evolve - in life and business. It only makes sense that what we present to the world on the outside reflects who we are on the inside.
This week on How She Did That 🎧I’m chatting with rebrand specialist Teaira Abston of Dreamcatcher Creative Studio about when and how to rebrand your business.
In this episode, Teaira will share:
. . . and so much more!
Sometimes we get stuck in a rut with our offers and services. What happens when something that has worked for so long suddenly feels like it no longer serves you or your clients, or it no longer feels aligned with your true goals?
Are you worried that your clients will be disappointed or think that you’re being flaky? Do you fear that you’ll never make money again?
Or do you know deep down in your gut that it’s time to make a change in your business, but you’re unsure of how to make that first step?
This week on How She Did That 🎧I’m chatting with my good friend and biz bestie Jessica Rodriguez to talk about when and how to burn bridges for your business and why it pays off.
In this episode, Jessica will share:
We are just two weeks away from the end of 2022! If your year has been anything like mine, then it’s been a little bit (jk, a lotta bit) of craziness… but here is your reminder that you made it through! You are still a business owner, and you are still accomplishing amazing things. The fact that you continue to show up in this online business owner space is incredible, and you deserve a big congratulations!
If you’ve been feeling bogged down by comparing your year to what everyone else’s success looks like, or what your success from 2021 may have looked like, remember it’s totally normal to feel disappointment while ALSO still feeling proud of everything you did accomplish this year. In this episode I’ll share an exercise with you that I use to get myself and my team ready for the new year.
We talk about:
I am so excited to introduce you all to one of our very own team members, Cara Decker! Cara has been working for The Launch Guild for almost two years. She started off as a Launch Strategist on our team, then after taking my certification program – The Legendary Launch Manager Certification – she started working with our clients in both a strategist and management capacity.
Earlier this year Cara became the Launch Manager for my personal launches, and can I just say how much she has knocked it out of the ballpark! She’s thorough, creative, and keeps me as focused as humanly possible. Today Cara and I are discussing the difference between being a launch manager and a launch strategist. As you’ll hear from Cara, she took the less traditional route of first being a launch strategist and then becoming a launch manager.
And Cara, if you’re listening, I just want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for holding my purse throughout this intense year of transition. You’re the best and we love you!!!

Joining us for our 160th episode of How She Did That is someone who I have known and worked with in the online business space for a long time, Sadie Prestridge! Sadie began her online business as a Virtual Assistant in 2018, and now runs a team of highly-trained EVAs (executive virtual assistants). In the beginning, still working her corporate job, she quickly found her stride and was able to quit her full-time job only three months later! With her client roster full, she had surpassed her previous income by June of 2019 and kept growing!
Training and building up a team of highly skilled women, Sadie created Prestridge and Co. to be a leading team that knows how to support and take initiative in leveling up business operations. Prestridge and Co. provide systems, structure, and day-to-day support that helps CEOs and Founders manage themselves, their busy schedules, and their visionary. Sadie joins us to share both her journey in going from VA to Agency Owner, and her keys to helping potential clients prep for having the best experience with their EVA!

Lately I have been hearing from so many online virtual support pros and business owners who are feeling stressed and burnt out. These last few years have been a doozy! I just recently celebrated my 5 year anniversary as a full time business owner, and this year has been the absolute hardest in my business. Mentally, physically, emotionally, financially, it's all felt like an uphill climb. And I've asked myself more than once this year if I really wanted to continue to climb it.
Am I making a difference?
Is the work that I do still needed?
BUT THEN I received some video testimonials and feedback interviews from the students inside of my programs, and O...M...G y'all! Talk about the kick in the pants that I needed!!! Are there improvements I want to make? Absolutely! But am I tapping out just yet? Not a chance! I've realized that my team and I are making an impact. The work we do IS needed! And we're only at the tip of the iceberg so let's keep going!
This has inspired me to share with you some affirmations for VA’s, Launch Managers, and Agency Owners. I have used these inside of my programs and now I am taking them public just for you! I hope that these will speak to you and help encourage you to keep showing up, even when the going gets tough.

We are diving into three super simple ways that you can improve your client experience in your business. You can apply these tips whether you are an agency owner or a solo entrepreneur! As we start growing and building our agencies and moving away from working on client deliverables, the client experience piece becomes even more important, and you want to make sure that it's consistent throughout your entire team. When we talk about client experience, we’re not just talking about “doing the work.” That is the bare minimum. That is what your client is paying you for! We are talking about elevating in a way that your client feels supported throughout the entire experience, and really valued and understood as an individual. We are talking about going above and beyond, and exceeding all expectations!
We talk about:
I first met Rachel when she accidentally joined the wrong program of mine. (True story!) She then went on to become one of the founding members of my program for agency owners – The Agency Thrivemind, and is now an accountability coach in that program as well as a dear friend of mine.
With her love for systems and processes, she and her team are supporting other businesses by leveraging their time so that they can concentrate on their zone of genius while her team handles #allthethings required for the smooth and efficient operation of their business.
Rachel has so much knowledge and experience in the VA/EA space. If you are currently trying to decide how to differentiate yourself in the marketplace and want to know which advanced skills to pursue, then this episode is for you!
We talk about:
Calling all leaders! (Yes, this includes you!) Some of you may feel like you were born to be leaders. Others probably want to think of themselves as strong leaders but struggle with self doubt at times. And some of you probably don’t even want to be leaders, but rather feel more comfortable in your support role as a team member. All of these are okay! Whether you are the CEO of an agency, the right-hand in command, or a support team member, the fact of the matter is you are most likely a leader (whether you know it yet or not!), you are most likely leading someone, or there will come a day when you will be leading someone in some capacity. That’s why this episode is important for and applicable to everyone.
Today is all about how we as leaders can improve as leaders. I am sharing my four tips for leadership growth and improvement. Remember, leadership is a journey, not a destination.

Today’s episode is a heavy but necessary one. Whether it be the loss of a loved one, the end of a relationship, struggling with an illness, or any other number of things, grief is one of those things that we don’t want to think about and we often try to hide from. But the truth is it’s something we will all deal with in some form or another at some point in our lives.
We all know there are several stages of processing grief and it can affect us mentally, emotionally, and physically. While learning how to work through our grief is universal, not everyone has to do it while running a business at the same time. Which is why this is an extra important conversation.
I greatly appreciated Jessica’s vulnerability in sharing her own story of how she navigated grief last year when her mother was diagnosed with and ultimately passed away from cancer. She reminds us that although you may be a CEO or a business owner, at the end of the day first and foremost, you are human and you are not alone.

Are you still the bottleneck in your business? Feeling like you have way too much on your plate, or having trouble delegating tasks because of some major trust issues? Or maybe you know it’s time for you to take the leap and make your first hire but it seems scary and you don’t know where or how to start. Well, look no further because this is your solution!
We are going to talk about why you need to hire an operations assistant or a “director of operations,” what this role entails, and why I suggest it as one of the first roles that you hire for in your agency. The relationship between CEO and DOO is one that will continue to grow over time. It’s a process, like any other personal or professional relationship. Don’t let yourself get frustrated if it’s not perfect overnight!
This is a key role that will change the trajectory of your agency. I've seen it firsthand in my own business, and I hope that you will take this seriously, take it to heart, and hire your first Operations Assistant asap! (Or if you already have one, this will give you some guidance on what the relationship should look like!)

I’m baaack! Welcome to Season 8 of How She Did That! Can I just say, 2022 has been a year…
You may have noticed that I took a short break from the podcast over the last few months, which happened for a number of reasons. One of those reasons being The Launch Guild experienced some pretty major changes that were a lot harder for me to process than I anticipated. Because of that, I needed to take a step back to recharge and restructure my goals for my business this year. Instead of a year of growth, this became a year of rest and restoration for myself and for The Launch Guild… (and it’s actually turned out pretty great so far!)
Now that I am back and ready to kick off a new season of the podcast, I want to start by talking to you about what this reframing looked like for me, and also share some of my tips and takeaways from it.
As challenging as the first half of this year was, the silver lining is that it allowed me an opportunity to rediscover who I am, what I really enjoy doing, and who I enjoy being around outside of the online business space. I’ve been ruthlessly intentional about making time to do what makes me feel alive again. And the rewards have been absolutely worth it!
If you are like me and this year threw you for a loop, here’s how you can start getting your groove back:
Check out my brand new, 45 minute-ish masterclass that will help you create a fast track system to slashing your to-do list by hiring your A-Team, delegating without drama, and fearlessly budgeting to scale.

When a client hires you to fulfill a role for a service they need and brings you on to their team, it can sometimes feel like you are the “new kid on the block” trying to fit in. You don’t want to step on any toes, you want the relationship to be cohesive and function seamlessly, while at the same time owning your expertise and way of doing things that you are bringing to the table. You want to feel like you are a part of the team and not an outsider, and you also want to gain their trust and leave them knowing they made the right decision bringing you in. Does that sound about right?!
The reality is that if you have ever struggled with this you are not alone, it can be tricky to find a good balance. Luckily, I have three amazing and helpful strategies that I want to share with you in hopes that going forward this will be something that you feel confident and ready to take on each and every time! Be sure to give this episode a listen for all of the juicy deets!
My Three Tips Are:
Ready to work with me & my team? Here are the ways we can support you:

The Legendary Launch Manager Certification - A 3-month certification program for aspiring launch managers who are ready to level-up their skill set, increase their marketability, and expertly lead 6 and 7-figure launches with ease.

Here's a hard reality, you're not going to get 100% of the roles you put yourself out there for! When a potential client reaches out to us or we fill out their hiring application and then DON'T get the job...ouch! That can sting! However, just because you didn’t get hired this time doesn’t mean you can’t improve for next time. There are plenty of ways to improve both your skillset and how you showcase your qualifications before your next discovery call or interview.
As the CEO of my own company, I know a thing or two about the hiring process. I’m going to share with you what I look for in potential new team members.

Experienced entrepreneurs and agency owners know that having systems within your business is one of the keys to success. And using the right technology within those systems makes your life a heck of a lot easier! Let’s be real, you don’t have time for glitchy and complicated tech. You need something that will get the job right, and done well. However, finding the right tech stack for you and your agency sometimes feels like you’re searching for a needle in a haystack.
This week I’m going to be sharing eight of my favorite tech websites and tools that I use every single day in my agency. That way you don’t have to make the same mistakes and fall into the same researching black holes that I did when I was looking for the perfect tools to use for my business.

In the online space, you hear about virtual coffee chats pretty often — and with good reason! Coffee chats are a great way to network and make connections in the industry. However, I’ve found that many aren’t using this highly effective networking strategy because they don’t know what to say or they’re afraid of being too “salesy.”
In this episode, I explain how I use coffee chats and what I say during these virtual calls. And I’ve got to say, almost every time I hop on to one of these chats, I make a new friend and connection. Now it’s your turn!

We took a quick break to take some time off to get some rest and celebrate a few birthdays, mine included 🥳 Now that we are refreshed and rejuvenated it’s time to get back to the podcast. If you’re great at what you do which, I’m going to assume you are, then there will eventually come a time where your services have more demand than the number of hours you have to support your clients while also continuing to build your business. And when that time comes, rather than burn yourself out trying to do #allthethings, consider hiring some team members! Not all at once, of course, but over time, you can strategically hire people to free up some precious CEO space and grow your business beyond anything you could possibly do alone! It can be done! Just take a look at our guest, Brittany McBean.
Brittany is a launch strategist & conversion copywriter who specializes in anti-sleazy, ethical, incredibly high-converting copy for online course creators & educators. She went from hiring one contractor for only 5 hours a month to having two employees and 3 contractors.

The way we think about, talk about, and spend money, can be influenced by so many things. Whether it be because of how our parents treated money or how we treated money in the past, there can be some past beliefs in there that no longer serve us. Many of the women I work with inside of my programs started their businesses to earn a little extra cash. They wanted an extra $500 or $1,000, just to add a bit of additional income to their family’s budget. But now that they’re scaling up to becoming Certified Launch Managers and agency owners, they aren’t earning “pay a few bills” money anymore. This is now “generating wealth” money -- have-everything-you-ever-wanted money. So how do we match our mindset to our income and start thinking about more ways we can generate wealth?
Enter Nechelle Bartley. She’s the owner of Her Future Wealth, an agency that specializes in helping women generate wealth and shift into a wealth-generating mindset. She noticed that the women she works with can sometimes have mindset blocks around generating wealth and she made it her mission to change that.
In this week’s episode of HSDT, Nechelle shares some tips to shifting into a wealth-generating mindset, and how to work it into the systems you’ve already created in your business. As a special gift for you, listeners of our show get access to Nechelle’s audio course "Remix & Accelerate Your Building Future Wealth".

You started your business because you were sick of being overworked and underpaid. And now that you have a few clients and you’re working on a few projects you’re - wait - still overworked and underpaid? How did that happen!
It may be because clients are filling your time with more tasks than you agreed on. It’s usually not malicious, but it has to be corrected. It’s time to present a new contract with a higher rate. Which is scary, but it can be done! Our guest, LaToya Russell has done it plenty of times and she hasn’t had a bad interaction yet.
In this week’s episode of HSDT, LaToya Russell and I talk about how to get paid what you're worth when dealing with scope creep.
This Week We Talk About:
Do you have a hard time giving up control? Me too. I know this business inside and out so it can be hard to hand it over to a complete stranger. Even though I did just hire them to be a teammate in said business 😬
But, at the end of the day, when you run an agency, you have to learn how to let go. And over time, you’ll learn to trust your new team. I did, and now I’m going to make things easier for you too.

Our host, Tasha Booth, has an impressive answer, and it’s a lot easier than you might think.

Since I was diagnosed with ADHD at 23, I’ve spent a good amount of my time learning more about it. That led me to learn more about myself and how I work. And all this learning about ADHD as a business owner led me to find more business owners who’ve been diagnosed as well, which led me to Courtney Chaal!
Courtney is an amazing person who understands the strengths and struggles we’ve faced as someone with ADHD. If you’ve ever felt like you needed a new way of doing things, this is the episode for you. 👯♀️

The dynamic duo is back! Jayla Rae flew out to see me for a very important, and now quarterly, business planning meeting and we’re sharing how we plan for the future of our agency.
We found that meeting in person AT LEAST once a year has been a tremendous help when it comes to planning out our future. It can be hard to carry on a conversation about next year's revenue goals when we are answering pings in between Zoom calls and client commitments. And so, the In-Person Quarterly Meeting was born!
In this week’s episode of How She Did That, Jayla Rae and I reflect on our first quarterly In-Person Meeting, how it helped us, and what changes we’re bringing to the agency that you can incorporate into your own business.
Here’s what we learned:
Ok, so we all know it’s coming, but when it’s here it sucks and we need to deal with it. There is always going to be this icky in-between phase where you know you want to start a new chapter in your life but you don’t know how to get there. In business, this in-between phase often happens when you’re getting ready to level up. The uncomfortable ick phase is your inner voice telling you it’s time to move on and move up.
Take Skyla Eichelberger for example, she was in the middle of an in-between phase too. She’s been known for her Virtual Assistant services and for the last few years, that’s been her reputation. She has her hand in a bunch of different pots and she knows how to do a little bit of everything. But lately, she’s been wanting to specialize and get into a niche she really enjoys, which is copywriting and content creation. And that’s great! But she wants to know… how does she do that?
In this week’s guest episode of How She Did That, Skyla Eichelberger asks how to get through the messy middle of her business growth journey. Transitioning can be difficult if you don’t know where to start, but the answer is actually really simple.

Today we’re going to talk about money. I know, it’s not a “polite conversation.” But we are women in business! We need to get paid for the amazing services we offer! To do that, we need to have a conversation about how we price our services and how we communicate that price with our clients. I know, it’s also scary, but it must be done.
Honestly, it’s about our mindset. A lot of people completely lose their confidence when talking about money. Take Amanda Acker’s case, for example, she said she would always kill it on onboarding calls up until the payment part of the conversation. Then, she completely froze. It just felt too uncomfortable and her clients knew that. Some of them even haggled her down to a price she wasn’t comfortable with but accepted anyway. Amanda wants to change that. She is no longer comfortable with leaving money on the table, and neither should you!
In this week’s guest episode of How She Did That, Amanda Acker joins me to talk about how to get comfortable with talking about money with your clients. It’s time to update our money mindset and get paid what we deserve!

It’s time for another mini-coaching session on How She Did That! In today's mini-coaching session, Bianca Smith asks our host Tasha Booth how to get more comfortable adding a team to your business, for her sake and the sake of her clients.
Most agency owners will say the hardest thing about owning an agency is going from a “me” to a “we.” Going from being a solopreneur to having a team is a whole different ball game, and sometimes your clients will question the change. While it’s scary when it happens, it totally fixable

Offering #Allthethings seems like a good idea at first, but it can actually hurt your agency in the long run. In this episode of the How She Did That podcast, Tasha Booth explains why finding your niche is crucial when you go from solopreneur to the CEO of an agency.
Finding your niche is about digging deep and figuring out exactly what you have to offer. When you were a solopreneur you could offer to do #Allthethings for your clients. Even if you didn’t know how to do them, you had the time and energy to Google or YouTube anything you needed.
As an agency owner, you don’t have that luxury anymore. Agencies thrive as long as their work is repeatable. You need your teammates to be able to replicate the results you and your clients want over and over again. For more nuggets of knowledge from someone who’s already been through what you're going through, check out this week’s episode!

What does stepping into a CEO mindset mean to you? That’s the question we asked this week’s guest, Jasmin Haley. Jasmin is the CEO of a six-figure business, and the host of three podcasts. And she dropped some major gems on this episode!
Jasmin’s business focuses on helping women step into their CEO role and build confidence. This is your idea, your business, your life! You need to be able to direct yourself towards your goals, no matter what anyone else thinks. Because the naysayers will have opinions, and they will tell you what they’re thinking whether you like it or not. And that’s ok! They can think whatever they want to think. As long as you have confidence in yourself, it doesn’t matter where they think you should be or where you should go. You are steering your ship. You decide where you’re going.
The confidence Jasmin is talking about is the kind of confidence a CEO has. This CEO level of confidence means that you respect yourself, and you respect your ideas enough to push through, do the work, and keep at it until you get to where you want to be. For more gems on becoming a confident CEO, check out this week’s episode!

You cannot allow old habits to keep you from reaching your goals. And you shouldn’t let them! That limited version of you is not the "you", you want to be. You want to be free to explore, free to be creative, and free to get paid more!
I know this because I had a few limiting beliefs that were holding me back too. But once I identified exactly what was holding me back and stopped these habits in their tracks my whole life turned around. I was earning more, I was hiring an amazing team, and I was able to do #allthethings without burning myself out!
The fact of the matter is, limiting beliefs cost more than they’re worth to keep around. Let’s take a look at these costs in this episode!
It’s time for another mini-coaching session on How She Did That! Today’s question was submitted by Tamsin Parry. A Business Strategist, Agency Owner, and OBM, Tamsin currently services as a mentor at Business Blueprint, Australia’s #1 Business Program, and is featured as an expert on the Bizversity Business Education app. She submitted her question after trying to go the agency route and having it not go as planned, (and who can relate to that, right?!). Even though she had the tools she needed to create such an amazing agency, there are some things that you just learn on the job. Asking questions like these are crucial to being a CEO, and by asking questions and getting the information you need, you will be able to become an even better leader and CEO. Keep asking questions- that’s the only way you’ll grow! Take a look at a few of the questions that Tamsin had and see if you have the same ones!

As mentioned in the previous episode, over the next few weeks we are going to be talking about all things agency-related. This includes a series called, “So You Want To Build An Agency?” where I will be interviewing students from my program Agency Thrivemind to share their stories and experiences with their agency model businesses. Last week we covered what an agency model business is and what it isn’t. Now that you know the definition, you might be wondering if transforming your business into an agency is the right path for you. So, how do you make that decision? What are some things that you should know before taking the leap? Take a listen to this episode to find out my six ways to know if you are ready to start and grow your business into an agency!

Welcome to the introductory episode to a new series I am starting called, “So You Want To Build An Agency?” where I will be interviewing agency owners who have either completed or are current students of my program Agency Thrivemind! You’ve probably heard me talk about agency model businesses in the past. In fact, you might even already know that I own one myself! My agency model business is called The Launch Guild, which includes a team of 25 contractors, full-time employees, and part-time employees! If you are new to being an agency owner or if you are thinking about becoming an agency owner and have questions, then I encourage you to follow this series because I know you will walk away with the answers! During these episodes we will be covering what exactly an agency model business is, why and when you should consider starting one, things I learned during my journey of starting The Launch Guild, the difference between an agency and a “team,” the pros and cons of agency ownership, and so much more! I am so excited for you to hear from some amazing multi-passionate women entrepreneurs as they share their experiences and inspire you to take the leap and go after that CEO title that is calling your name!

I know that everyone has heard of the phrase, “Rome wasn’t built in a day.” As cliche as it might sound, the meaning behind it is so important to be mindful of when developing your business, and it’s something that I really want to focus on in this episode. Starting your business is one thing, but over time as you grow and gain experience, things will start to change! You’ll realize new things about what you’re good at, what you enjoy doing, who you enjoy working with, and what your goals are. One thing you might come to discover is that you want your business to transition into an agency! That’s what happened to Gwendolyn Young, so I asked her to join us to talk about the three things she wishes she would have known throughout her journey of starting an agency. As we all know, life is more about the journey than the destination, and the same holds true for your business! If you’re thinking about starting your own agency, or if you’re a newbie to the agency-owner world, then you will definitely want to take notes on what Gwendolyn wishes she had known when she was you!

Welcome to the first “encore episode” of the How She Did That podcast! Last year I published “The Starting Now” series which included 4 episodes of useful information and advice for brand new and aspiring virtual assistants. We are going to be starting a brand new bonus series this month that features a few VA’s I know who are doing amazing things, but before we dive into that I wanted to bring back one of the episodes from “Starting Now” because it covers a very popular question that I don’t think gets addressed often enough, and that is how to know if being a VA will be right for you in the first place? I invite you to revisit this episode with me as I talk about four important things to ask yourself before embarking on the journey of becoming a virtual assistant!

Carrie helps super-busy and overwhelmed service based business owners and course creators strategize for maximum profit by increasing efficiency in their business systems, tools, and operations. She has completed a number of my programs, such as Booked and Balanced, and she is a current student inside of The Legendary Launch Manager Certification. She has had some major changes in her business since her last visit about a year ago, and I can’t wait for her to share her growth and her success stories with us in this episode. Listen, we know this past year has been a lot. And that’s putting it lightly. While it’s so important for us to celebrate our highs, our successes, and our wins, what are some things that we can do to help us get through our lowest of lows, in life and in business? Because let’s face it, for entrepreneurs and online support pros like us those two things usually go hand in hand. I brought in my good friend Becca Reed, who is also a Trauma Therapist, to dive into this topic with us on today’s episode. So, how do we hold space for ourselves to be human and struggle with things, while also continuing to show up in our professional lives, reach our goals, and continue to grow our businesses even when times get hard? Pull up a seat and let’s get into it!

Welcome to our first mini-coaching session on How She Did That! In this episode, we are focusing on a question that is brought to us from admin pro, owner of KISS Virtual Services, and our good friend, Nakia Whittaker-Woody, who is also sitting down with us today to get her question answered! Nakia has been in the virtual space for 23 years while still working a corporate 9 to 5. This is something a lot of you listeners can surely relate to. Not only do you have to balance your time between two different careers, but you also have to balance your mindset, which can be easier said than done! Your mindset is such a key factor in growing your business because once you are confident, committed, and determined mentally, your actions will follow! However, as the humans that we are, we are bound to get stuck along the way. If you’re like Nakia and need some advice on getting unstuck, then this episode is for you!

Here to share her expertise on the subject with us is Krista Miller, founder of her very own summit-hosting business, Summit In A Box. After she launched her very first summit with a tiny audience, she tripled her email list, made $16k in sales, and booked out her services for 6 months! Her motto is that if you can sell a digital product or service, then you can host a profitable virtual summit too. So what are you waiting for? Take a listen and find out if it’s time for you to host your own virtual summit!

One question that a lot of us have asked ourselves at one time or another is, “How do I discover what my zone of genius is?” When it comes to our careers, how do we fall into that sweet spot of doing what we love to do, while also doing what we’re good at? You probably won’t be surprised to hear that the answer to this is not black or white. That’s because most of us are multidimensional, multi-passionate human beings! We have a wide variety of skill sets, and backgrounds in various fields. This is something to keep in mind as your business develops. It’s okay to change courses, but doing so can be intimidating, confusing, and overwhelming! There are many factors to consider when it comes to switching up your career path, which is why we invited AdeOla Fadumiye to discuss her experience with us on today’s episode!
AdeOla shares with us how to give yourself permission, freedom, and grace to evolve and pivot in your business in order to create one that you love. She is the founder and Chief Execution Officer of Crys & Tiana, a virtual business management and support company for health, wellness, and lifestyle entrepreneurs and businesses. She is also an editor and writer, and provides a range of manuscript editing services to African and Christian women authors, so she knows all about being multi-passionate and multi-talented in her business! She is no stranger to pivoting in her career, and her path to success and happiness has had it’s fair share of unexpected twists and turns. Today we are diving into how you can face these changes head on while staying true to yourself and continuing to thrive in your business and, ultimately, in your life.

We all know that success looks different to each individual. We all set different goals for ourselves, for our businesses, and for our lives. Some of us might only consider ourselves to be successful once we hit that six or seven figure mark, while others might start off striving for a more modest salary in order to live comfortably and still be able to save for the future. Maybe to some of us, success means being able to buy and own a house one day, being able to afford your dream car, or being able to support a big family. But the common denominator still comes down to how much money we have. It’s easy for us to get caught up in the measure of our success as solely our financial situation. What if we took a step back, and focused on other areas where we are successful in life?
Diving into this with us today is Dr. Cortney Baker, who helps women entrepreneurs transition from their day jobs and side hustles to full-time CEO of their businesses. Cortney is the owner of an 8-figure national enterprise that has more than 650 employees and has provided healthcare to over 40,000 children with special needs! For her, success goes beyond the numbers. Whether or not you have the money coming in that you want to see, how can you be confident in your success outside of your salary and not lose sight of what it is that truly matters? On today’s episode we are switching things up a little bit! We often hear from virtual support pros and support people about how they do what they do and who they serve, but our special guest today Nikki Tucker is actually someone who hires virtual support pros to support her in her business. It’s important for us to hear about the dynamic between VAs and clients from the other perspective to help us gain insight into what they’re looking for, what stands out, what doesn’t work, and so much more. Fortunately, whether or not you are a support pro or a business owner looking to hire support - this episode applies to everyone! Nikki shares some great tidbits of knowledge that are essential for both sides to know.
Nikki is a personal financial strategist and CEO of The Fiirm Approach, a resource company that provides an approach to improving the way you manage your money. She works with women specifically who need guidance on preparing and securing their financial future after a divorce. You could kind of say that what she does and the services she provides are a big deal and very much necessary! Therefore, she does not play around when it comes to hiring the right support. She truly understands the value that support pros provide, especially to people who are not full time in their businesses. She’s had some great experiences, and some not so great, and she is here today to share the lessons she’s learned and offer advice that you for sure don’t want to miss!

Today we are talking about strategies that you can implement that lead to doubling your revenue. I know, sounds ideal right? Well, Shontaye Hawkins joins this episode, and she is speaking to us from personal experience! You might think it sounds crazy if we tell you to simply double your prices, right? But...what if that wasn’t so crazy? We know so many of you out there have mindset issues around what you’re charging for your services. Whether you are a support pro charging an hourly rate, or a business owner setting the price for your new course or package, how do you really know what the true value is worth? And then, even once you overcome the mindset piece, how do you take action and make it happen? Shontaye is diving deep with us today to answer all these questions and more.
CEO and founder of Profit is the New Black, Shontaye uses her extensive finance background to work with small business owners and entrepreneurs to eliminate money mindset blocks, gain confidence and clarity around profit strategies, and provide the knowledge and the tools to build highly profitable six and seven figure businesses. In other words, she knows how to set you up for success. She has been featured on Fox News Radio, CBS Radio, Black Enterprise, List TV, and many other media outlets across the country, so she knows what she’s talking about! Do you ever wonder why you see other businesses thriving and steadily increasing their revenue while yours feels stagnant? Do you find it impossible to grow your income without expanding your workload at the same time? In this episode we are talking about how to overcome the internal obstacles that are holding you back from achieving your goals. What are the reasons you are telling yourself that you can’t reach x amount of dollars or live a certain lifestyle? Today we are diving into why self sabotage is a thing and how you can change up your mindset, because more often than not your mindset is really the only thing standing in the way of your own success. You’ll be surprised to learn that scaling your business doesn’t need to be as hard as you think it is!
Here to help us do some soul searching is the founder and CEO of The Unstoppable Woman, Amira Alvarez. Amira knows exactly what tactical strategies and mindset shifts are required to get out of your own way, live life on your own terms, and master the art of achieving any goal you set your mind to. She has helped thousands of women break free from their limitations and accomplish their dreams, whether that be reaching 7-figures, building a business empire, making an impact in the field of entertainment, arts, sports, law, medicine, the corporate world, and so much more!

It’s probably no mystery to you that word-of-mouth is one of the most common ways that people grow their business! While there are so many job search platforms and social media groups that are great resources, never underestimate the power of a good old fashioned referral. Think about how referrals have impacted your own life. Have you ever been in need of a service, or an idea, or a product, and had someone who you trust make a recommendation? Or maybe someone close to you has asked you for your help. You wouldn’t recommend something to your family member or your bestie (or maybe even your own client!) unless you KNEW that it was the absolute best and that they were going to love it. This is how you want people to feel about working with you! But is there something that we can do to increase our chances of getting those referrals? The answer is yes!
We are diving into this on today’s episode, and joining us is CEO Amy Lockrin, who is going to share her zone of genius with us on all of her referral strategy secrets. With Amy’s company, The Operations House, she and her team offer one-on-one coaching, system implementation, project management, and so much more - from basic to the most intensive processes! And the best part is that she built her six-figure business from the ground up, and almost completely off of referrals alone! If outbound marketing is not your forte, and you want to know the best way to get people talking while you sit back and focus on what's really important to you, then today’s episode is for you!

In today’s episode we are talking about all things email related! Emails are such an essential part of your marketing strategy because it’s the most direct way for you to connect with your audience and it really gives you the opportunity to build an authentic relationship with those who are reading. Sure you can post on social media, but you never really know who’s looking at your content, and an even smaller percentage of those people are actually engaging with you! If you send an email, you know it’s going to pop into your subscriber’s inbox. But even that is only half the battle! You want to make sure your audience is actually opening your emails, reading them, and clicking on your call to actions, and most importantly, you want them to avoid that dreaded “unsubscribe” button like the plague! Now, you may have some questions before you click “send.” For example, how often is too often to send? What if you have to actually write emails not only for your business but for other clients as well? And the copy is one thing, but what about the visuals? We want our emails to not only sound good, but look great too!
Here to give us the answers to all of these questions and so much more is email extraordinaire Kate Doster. Not only did she start her own freelance copywriting business, but she has also created online courses, ebooks and coaching packages all about email marketing, copywriting, tech, and online businesses! And on top of that (as if that wasn’t enough) she has a podcast called Inbox Besties that you should definitely check out if you still want to learn more about email marketing after listening to today’s episode!

If you were able to pitch your business and gain exposure in the media to land more clients and create more visibility for yourself and what you do, would you be interested? If so, then today’s episode is for you! Public relations is something that we don’t really hear much about in the online virtual support business space, and we want to know why that is! If someone asked you to define what public relations is, would you be able to? Do you know what the benefits are of utilizing PR? It’s one of those things that we have all heard about and we know it exists, but we never really pin-point why or when it’s necessary for your business or how exactly to implement public relations into your business! That’s why today we are learning why this is such an under-utilized marketing strategy, and here to teach us is none other than the fabulous PR pro Christina Nicholson!
Before Christina got involved in PR she spent about 10 years working as a TV reporter and anchor. At that time while she was working long hours in a grueling and inflexible schedule (on top of being a mom!), she noticed a lot of people in PR had never actually worked in the media, and had no concept of what it was like to be in the newsroom or put a story together. That’s when she decided to start her own PR agency, and it has been flourishing for nearly five years! With her team of eight rockstar women who all work remotely, she helps small business owners get exposure in the media without paying for advertising. That sounds like a win-win to me!

Today we are talking about getting unstuck in your business and what to do when you start feeling like you're not loving your business or what you're doing as much as you did before. When it comes to virtual assistance or the online business space in general, it can be such an easy trap to fall into over time. Especially these days, I’m sure all of us have felt stuck in some way or another. It’s totally normal to realize and acknowledge that maybe something you used to love doing a few years ago (or even a few months ago for that matter!), you just don’t love doing any more. As humans we are constantly evolving, so it’s only natural that our businesses should evolve along with us! Luckily there is a solution, so be sure to give today’s episode a listen if you are someone who is currently in need of getting unstuck in your business.
Joining us today all the way from New Zealand to help us get unstuck is entrepreneur, author, speaker, and host of the ‘Untapped’ podcast, Natalie Sission. Her area of expertise is all about teaching you how to “Get Paid to Be You!” (Um, sign me up please!) She has a HUGE following and she is such an incredible example of someone who literally does all of the things! Today, though, we are honing in on her insight to transitioning your brand without crashing and burning, tapping into your potential, and getting paid to do what you know, love, and do best!

Are you someone who dreads or avoids getting in front of the camera to create videos for your business? Maybe you struggle with finding the right words to say, feeling authentic, or perhaps you have no idea where to start when it comes to finding the right equipment to use. There are cameras, microphones, lights, editing software... the list goes on and the options never seem to end! Then, once you have your videos all beautified and perfect, how can you use them to market yourself? Believe it or not, there is actually SO much that goes into recording videos for your business if you really want to connect with your audience in a way that looks beautiful, on-brand, and professional! Our guest today, Holly Gillen, refers to it as “business cinema,” and she is talking to us about all things video in today’s episode.

One of the most pivotal moments in your business is making the transition from seeking work from anyone who will pay you, to being in a position where your DREAM clients are actually coming to YOU! Can you say “goals”? Because it’s definitely one that most of us share! An important thing that we all must learn eventually is that we should never feel like we have to say yes to every single client who comes out of the woodworks. It doesn’t serve our best interest, and it doesn’t necessarily serve theirs either. Think about it, if you were looking to hire a service-based business or entrepreneur would you hire the first person who writes you back on social media or would you spend some time sifting through your options to find someone who you feel a connection with? Putting in the time to figure out what works best for you will ultimately lead to better results, and this can be applied to many areas of our lives. When it comes to your career, YOU hold the power to figure out what you want it to look like, and then execute that by making decisions that will turn your dreams into your reality. I promise you, it really is that simple!
That’s also why women like Michelle Vroom exist, she is a marketing coach who helps women solopreneurs not only hit that six-figure mark, but do it while attracting their dream clients! She strongly believes that there is no cookie-cutter way to market yourself in order to sign your dream client, we are lucky enough to live in a time where we can actually reach our ideal clients through so many channels. On top of that, she does it all while being a mother to two young boys! So if having a lack of time to market yourself (or learn how to) during your busy day to day schedule is something you’re struggling with, then today’s episode is definitely for you.

What do you think of when you hear the word “networking”? Do you picture yourself in a room full of professionals feeling nervous to approach one of them and make an introduction? Or does networking to you mean spending hours online researching, making comments on social media, and sending emails? Whether in person or online, we can all agree that networking is an absolute key part of finding and landing opportunities that lead to success. If you’ve ever heard the phrase, “It’s not about what you know, it’s about who you know,” then you get it! You might know someone who seems so gifted, almost lucky, when it comes to networking and making connections. Like every single time they reach out to someone it always results in a response that turns into this amazing relationship. If you’ve ever felt envious of people like this and wondered, “How in the heck do they do that?” then give today’s episode a listen and find out!
Joining us today to share her expertise is publicist and owner of Kaye Publicity Inc., Dana Kaye. Over the years Dana has been able to take what she has learned as a freelance writer, book critic, and brand manager for authors and apply it when teaching and coaching entrepreneurs. As you will hear her mention in this episode, she and many of her clients are what she calls “book people,” and therefore she is no stranger to the struggles of an introvert! Luckily, being an introvert doesn’t have to hold you back from absolutely killing it when it comes to networking. If that’s something you’re currently battling with, then today’s episode will definitely resonate with you!

Whether you are just starting out in your journey to entrepreneurship, or you’ve had years of experience, you have probably been told at one time or another that it’s important to “build your brand.” But do you know the reason behind why it is so important to not only build your brand authentically but to stick to it? Well, if you need a refresher, then you’ll definitely want to check out today’s episode. Your brand is something that you should live and breathe when it comes to your business, and therefore something you should really be in love with! I know - that sounds major, right? So how do you even get started?! Think about some of your favorite brands. What is it that you love about them? What draws you in and what makes you stay? Having an authentic brand that truly speaks to who you are is the first step towards building an authentic audience!
Joining us today is brand strategist, Maranda Joiner. She has created a 3 session branding process that is designed to refresh any business. Maranda speaks about branding from a foundation of mindset and an authentic connection to purpose. She teaches entrepreneurs how to create a brand they love, and shows them how to date their target audience by making them fall in love as well! So remember, if you feel as though your brand is not quite “all together” in the way that you really want it to be - that’s okay! It’s never too late to re-brand. Sit down and brainstorm, start fresh, and create a strategy and a plan. (It’s not just all about logos and colors!!!)

Today we are diving into one of the most intimidating factors about finding success as an entrepreneur… sales! How do you convince someone to spend their hard-earned money on your services? How do you ensure that what you have to offer is really worth your asking price? How do you make a sales pitch without coming across as too “sales-y”? Maybe you feel like there are so many superstars out there already and you just don’t know how to stand out. Or maybe the thought of building a loyal audience from the ground up seems overwhelming and you don’t know where to start. While these skills may seem to come naturally to some, most of us have to practice and practice until we find our footing and figure out what works for us. One important thing to remember is that you will never close ANY sales unless you TRY!
Here to help us address all of your totally valid questions and concerns is engineer, coach, entrepreneur, and podcaster, Michelle Marie! As the owner of Put Your Passion To Work, she is a mindset and business coach who helps women find their passion and put it to work by starting profitable coaching businesses, all while working a full-time 9 to 5 as an engineer! As with most things, when it comes to bettering yourself and your business, a huge part of that (and an excellent place to start) is your mindset! In addition to all of the amazing insight Michelle has to offer on today’s episode, she has also offered to give you over 50% off on her discovery call guide to getting clients every time with no pushy sales tactics - yes, please!!!

I’m recording this on Monday, June 1st after a few days conversations & protests coming to a boiling point of racism, race inequality and police brutality.
Now, if you’re anything like me, you’re feeling a bit inundated with all of the post and information and stuff that’s coming at you, I get it. But here is what I know, this conversation isn’t going away and I am asking you to do your part in creating and facilitating real and lasting change.
Part of doing your part is growing an amazing and profitable business. Why is that? Well, that leads me to our podcast episode today. Earlier today I went live in my FB Group and shared the reasons why you succeeding in your business is about way more than you! And I wanted to share the content of that FB Live here.
The audio is raw and unedited, I say um a lot and probably repeat myself a bit and you’ll hear me saying “hi” to those joining live and responding to the group a time or two but I’ve been asking people to show up authentically and perfectly imperfect for the last few days and that requires that I do the same. So here you go.
What does it mean to have financial freedom within your business? Is this something you have achieved? If it is, then you know exactly how powerful and important this milestone can be and why it’s so necessary for us as women to discuss! If you’re currently on the other end of the spectrum and financial freedom is something you are intimidated by or working towards, know that you are not alone and your feelings of frustration and confusion are totally relatable. If it was easy, everybody would be doing it! Luckily, there is a solution for those of you who may be feeling like it’s impossible to deal with what you just don’t understand. That is why today we are talking about all things money.
Joining us today is CFO Danielle Hayden, co-owner of Kickstart Accounting, Inc. and creator of the twelve-week program, The Profit Planner. With over 10 years of corporate accounting under her belt, Danielle now provides entrepreneurs with the tools and strategies they need to manage their bookkeeping, the resources to grow their profits, and the confidence to finally understand and control their finances! In this episode Danielle shares with us her background on how she gained her experience, some of the patterns she has noticed in her clients over the years, and how she has used her knowledge of all things finance and money management to help them. If this is a topic that you have been struggling to come to terms within your own business, then you definitely need to hear her words of wisdom!

Today we are talking about digital products and why your business would be well served by offering one. It’s actually way less intimidating than it sounds! The term “digital product” covers a wide range of things. This could be an online course or program, an e-book, a “How To” webinar, or a number of other items. The good thing is that this is something you can explore and benefit from no matter WHAT type of service-based business you have. According to today’s guest, Gemma Bonham-Carter, digital products can help to grow, monetize, and scale your business while creating the income and the impact that you are meant for.
Gemma is a blogger-turned-online business coach who specializes in digital products. She learned from personal experience by growing her own blog from a hobby into a money-making business after she used her knowledge to create digital product offers for herself. In this episode, she shares her insight with us on the wonderful world of digital products including how she got started and became an expert on the subject! She also tells us about her Free Class that she offers, in which she provides “behind the scenes” information on her favorite strategies along with tips and tricks she used to help grow multiple six-figure businesses.

Have you ever wondered how the world of podcast networking works? How do you find guests to be on your podcast? How do you pitch yourself as a guest to be on someone else’s podcast? We are talking about all of these strategies in today’s episode. Maybe you listen to podcasts for inspiration, maybe you listen for entertainment, or maybe you utilize them as an educational resource. Whatever the reason, podcasts are continuing to grow as a trend, especially among service-based online business owners. Being interviewed is one of the best marketing strategies around, and if you are curious to know what tangible impacts your business could experience as a result of those 30-60 minutes, you’ll definitely want to give this episode a listen!
A “podcast visibility strategist” as she calls herself, Angie Trueblood joins us to discuss how you can use podcasts to grow your business and build meaningful relationships. She offers her insight to those who may feel like their particular niche or area of expertise is already so popular and therefore they have nothing “different” or unique to offer. This belief could not be further from the truth! There may be lots of people out there who do what you do, but there is only one YOU and nobody does what you do the way YOU do it. As Angie tells us, you don’t have to be solving the problems of the world, you just have to solve one particular thing for your ideal client.

Whether you are launching a new course, a website, a podcast, or anything else under the sun one thing that we can all agree on is that we want everything to be absolutely PERFECT. Unfortunately, we also know that there is no such thing as perfect and the impossible to plan for often happens. We are only human after all, and can’t predict every little thing that could go wrong or that we aren’t prepared for. The good news is that mistakes are how we learn and improve. The other good news is that there are people out there who exist to help you in prepping your launch to be as close to perfect as you can get, and they worry about the small stuff so that you don’t have to!
One of those lovely people is Steph Taylor, founder of Steph Taylor Co. She is a digital product launch strategist who has helped entrepreneurs in launching their online courses, memberships, eBooks, you name it, she’s done it! She has seen so many of the most common (and uncommon!) launch mistakes in the process, and she knows exactly how to help you avoid them. In this episode you will hear us discuss some of the launch nightmare stories that we have experienced, how we problem solved our way through it, and ultimately turned them into success stories.

Can you even imagine being able to market your Virtual Support Business that feels good? Brit Kolo believes that you can in fact do that; show up as who you and and how you best shine. In this episode, we’re talking about how to create a marketing plan that aligns with your Myers-Briggs personality type. I love how Brit puts it — “When you feel good, your audience feels good!” because too many times, we’re following the rules of “I should” instead of “I want to”. Brit walks us through how to break this cycle and show up authentically for both ourselves and for our ideal clients.

It's the premier of Season 4! Can you believe it?! I'm so excited to not only bring you more interviews with amazing women who will help you build your skill set as a Virtual Support Pro, but I'm also excited to dedicate a few more episodes to both solo content as well as mini-coaching sessions.
I'm kicking off this season with a very special episode with my right hand, and Director of Operations, Jayla Rae! Over the last 15 months of being a part of The Launch Guild, Jayla Rae has been so integral in the company's growth and internal improvement. Recently, Jayla Rae went full time with the company and we're going to get really vulnerable in talking about how that rather small shift has initially rattled both of us in terms of mindset and limiting beliefs.

Hiring in your virtual support business is usually a really scary step. We know that in order to scale our businesses and be able to step into our CEO power, we have to have help. But it’s also one of those things that are super scary because we often feel like nobody else can do it as well as we can. There are all these “what if” fears that come up with hiring… What if I hire the wrong person? What if they steal my clients? My guest today, Roshni Shaikh took this leap super early in her business and is here to talk all about that process.
Roshni is a Conversion Copywriter and Brand Messaging Strategist for thriving businesses. She helps them increase sales and amplify their influence with copywriting and messaging. Stepping out of our businesses from time to time is necessary, whether it’s to have a baby, go on vacation, or simply to enjoy some time with your family. Today on the podcast, we’re going to talk about how to prepare for extended time away and how to step back into your business after time off. My guest today, Kelsey Kerslake, is the CEO and Creative Director of Pine Gate Road, a branding and web design agency that does personal brands for experts, coaches, and thought leaders.
Kelsey and I were in a year-long mastermind together. Before she joined that mastermind, she was a solopreneur and doing everything herself, and driving herself crazy as a result. She wanted to have a baby but knew she wouldn’t be able to sustain her business the way it was at that time if she were to take time off or be able to spend more time with her baby. She started thinking about her business structure and wanted an agency model to support taking time off. She shares her journey to achieve this in today’s episode.

Have you ever felt stuck in your business? Usually, periods of “stuckness” (yes, that’s a real word) happen right around the time we’re about to uplevel. Without even realizing it, we block ourselves from our business blessings and often make it so much harder than it needs to be.

Shelagh and I walk through the common themes she sees when people are stuck and how to create “power moves” to break through the barriers and hit your next level.
In this episode, we chat about…
Money/Time: One is unlimited and one infinite. When we think about them backwards, we create problems!
Discomfort: How allowing yourself to feel the discomfort and then move anyway creates bold action.
Trust & Vulnerability: Asking for help and hiring...ugh! It’s hard!

Can you even believe that we’re already in Season 3 of the How She Did That Podcast? I can’t! This season is dedicated to the virtual support pros who have been in business for a while and are looking for some more advanced strategies in the way of hiring & managing team, selling higher ticket offers, taking some time away from their business, and just fully embodying the role of CEO! I am so excited for all of the amazing women I’ve interviewed for season 3 and I can’t wait for the crazy amounts of awesomeness their going to bring!
If you’re still new to the Virtual Support game, fear not! There are lots for you this season, just know that some of what’s talked about should be stuff that you put in the back of your mind for future reference instead of feeling like you have to act on it immediately. When you’re first starting out, building strong foundations is your goal and focus so you’re right where you’re supposed to be!
In this week’s episode, I’m kicking it off with my first “Ask Me Anything Q &A Session”. Last month, I asked my email list to submit questions that I would then answer on the podcast and boy did they deliver! Here are the questions I’m answering in today’s episode…
How did you transition from offering VA services to becoming an OBM/agency?
How do you turn work off in your mind when the clock says your workday is over?
How did you choose a mentor when first starting out?
What’s the difference between a coach and a mentor?
What does a Project Manager do and how do inbox management work?

When I first started my business, taking a vacation was really hard. I want to help you figure out what will work best for you to take vacations, so you don’t feel chained to your desk and you have the opportunity to take a break when you need and want to.
One of my core values in my business is to take vacations. She shows her clients how to use systems in a way that their time, energy, and focus are aligned to their actual goals and desires. One of the ways she helps her clients with this is by using Airtable. If you’ve never heard of Airtable, in short, it’s a system that allows you to see all the information in one place, how you want to see it, and how you and your team understand it the best.
Lanie found that it was just a vicious cycle for her clients coming back to her every two or three months because they were stuck thinking in the employee mindset of tasks and checklists. She wanted to create a way to break people out of that bad cycle, so that they could actually plan and strategize like a boss. Airtable gave her a platform to create a planning system for them to just do that. Today, we talk about:

After graduating from college with honors in communication studies and securing a well-paying corporate job, Kara Fillion started seeing ads on Facebook about people working from their laptop and traveling around the world. Kara did research about working from her laptop and started hiring coaches to learn the ropes. I have a super special guest today...my husband! Scott and I have been married for almost 2 years now and together for almost 4. When I first started my online business, he was pretty foreign to the whole thing but, he's always been super supportive. I wanted to have him on the podcast today, firstly, because it's Valentines Day and #HandHearts, #Sweetness, but secondly, because I get asked pretty regularly questions about how my husband feels about my business and also advice for what to do when your spouse isn't too keen on your new entrepreneurial adventure.
I thought having a non-entrepreneur take on the whole thing might be a great idea. I loved Scott's insight on topics like how to be supportive, what he thought when I first started my business, and, of course, how we keep the love alive.
Hope you enjoy!
Can you imagine running your business while homeschooling AND working a 9-5 job?! I sure can’t but our guest today, Tarin LaRoux does just that. I know that the word “supermom” sometimes gets a bad however, I think Tarin has earned that cape. You’ll hear from our episode how Tarin keeps everything organized and “how doing all the things” doesn’t mean you have to do them alone. (we get to talk a lot about Tarin’s super supportive boyfriend which I love!).
If you’re someone trying to balance it all, definitely check out this episode for some major inspiration that it CAN in fact be done!
The land of Pinterest has busted wide open as an online platform brimming with opportunity for business owners looking to find other ways to target their ideal clients. And where there’s opportunity for business owners, there’s also opportunity for the virtual team who supports them. My guest today, Monica Draudt took her own love for Pinterest, learned what it could do in the world of business, and leap head first into a successful business as a Pinterest Strategist.
I talk all of the time about the power of niching down and becoming an expert at one or two high ticket and high value services and Monica is a prime example of what just that. Today, she and I talk about:
I recorded this episode out of an abundance of joy over the relationships built and communities I've become a part of over the last two years in my business. I believe that, if you want something in your biz, you gotta go and get it and that includes friendships. Let's face it, the online space can be a lonely place and so today's episode is all about how I found my tribe of friends online and built some rock solid relationships. I'm giving you my four favorite strategies to use to grow relationships both from behind your laptop and in person.

When it comes to mindset for online business owners, Heather Gray is the swift kick in the pants we all need. Heather Gray is a clinically trained Mindset and Leadership coach at Choose to Have it All.com who I have had the pleasure of hearing her speak on multiple occasions. Her “tell it like it is approach is always encouraging (even if it stings a bit at the time).
In this episode on Imposter Syndrome, Heather & I Chat About:
This month marks exactly one year since I went into business full time for myself and, while there have been many "unexpecteds" in my entrepreneurial journey, one of the biggest ones is how going from working a full time 9-5 to working from home would effect my body.
One thing you may not know about me is that, before I started The Launch Guild, I was the full time Health and Well Being Director for two YMCAs. I've been a professional dancer, personal trainer, and group fitness instructor. Up until now, fitness and wellness have been infused in every fabric of my life and my day. So my body was pretty shocked when I went from constantly moving to constantly sitting. And it was NOT happy.
Today on the podcast, I'm going to share with you the steps I took to get back on track with my wellness goals. Even though I now have to be more intentional about staying active, it doesn't need to be difficult and, I've found that more I respect my body, the easier it is to stay sharp and focused in my biz.
Also, make sure you grab my free downloads where I'll be sharing my 10 minute at home workout routine, my favorite green smoothie recipe, and a stretch routine you can do from your desk.
I've been so excited to share this episode with you that I've been practically BURSTING at the seams!! It's a free 5 Day event happening from Monday, January 7th through Friday, January 11th.

Today I am chatting with my Biz Bestie Saprina Nickelson. Saprina is a tech WIZ (and Instagram Strategist) and is constantly reminding me to audit my systems every once in awhile to make sure I’m only paying for what I actually need. And I’m so glad she does! Recently, I went through my tech systems spreadsheet and was able to eliminate almost $200 per month in unnecessary platforms! That’s almost $2400 per year!
So often, we purchase something and either forget about it or end up underutilizing it. By auditing your systems, you’re able to keep your budget in check which is essential to running a successful and profitable business.
Today, Saprina and I discuss:
We’re nearing the end of 2018 and I’m sure, for many of us, it feels like the whole world is in planning mode for 2019. But my suggestion would be that, before you decide how many thousands of clients, millions of dollars or hundreds of multi-step projects you’re going to take on in 2019, you start by slowing down and reviewing this past year.
One of my favorite quotes is- “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to relive it.” by George Santayana
What that means to me in business is this: you know that client who’s every meeting you dreaded and gave you a knot in your stomach? Yeah, if you don’t figure out why you felt that way, there’s no way you’ll be able to course correct and eliminate whatever took you out of alignment. You know how, in order to make $3K per month this year you were working 60 hrs per week? There’s no way to double your income without figuring out what services to keep, what to toss, and where to increase pricing.
So let’s start with our review.
In this episode, we’re going to talk about the process I use to review my year. It’s called SPACE which stands for strategy, profit, achievements, clients, and energy. My taking the time to move through this process section by section, we’ll get a clear and full understanding of what we really want for our business in the future.

Starting your service based business while working full time? Listen up because I've recorded today's episode just for you!
When I first started my business, it was a nights and weekends only kinda thing. But it soon grew into something much bigger than I ever dreamed. Looking back on that season of my life, I'd definitely classify it as "busy". But once I created goals and knew exactly where I was headed, the busy became a lot more manageable and often, even enjoyable.
Today I'll share with you a few tips on creating new biz & 9-5 harmony. We'll chat about:
I know that one of the reasons why many of us became Online Service Providers is because, getting to work from behind our computer screens in our fluffy slippers and athleisure wear everyday is a pretty sweet deal. But sometimes it pays to get up, get dressed, and head out to live events- yah know, with real, LIVE people! And when I say "it pays", I mean figuratively and literally.
My guest today is Jordan Gill of the Systems Saved Me podcast. Her podcast is a favorite in the online operations circles and for good reason. Jordan is so good at all things operations and systems. And while Jordan does enjoy sitting at home doing puzzles while binge watching Gilmore Girls, she's also a frequenter of masterminds, conferences, and other opportunities to network with potential ideal clients and referral partners (she attended over 30 events in one year!)
Today, Jordan's going to share with us her super awesome (and brilliant) method to targeting higher paying clients using live events.

If the words "business plan" makes you want to curl up in the fetal position, you're not alone. When I owned my group fitness & dance studio, I vividly remember compiling dozens upon dozens of data docs and other papers to prep my business plan. Frankly, it was overwhelming and, once it was done, I never looked at it again.
Thankfully, the business plan we're talking about today is NOTHING like that! I'm joined by my amazing friend Emma Bates of Mill and Main Creative. In addition to her online marketing and branding company, Emma blogs at EmmaLeeBates.com, where she focuses on helping other mothers start and grow their own businesses. Today, Emma is walking us through her one page business plan.
We'll cover...
Why this is NOT your grandma's business plan.
The 6 questions that you'll cover to create a plan that's implementable.
Why this roadmap will work WITH you as you grow and pivot.

Jamie is going to talk us through how she's tricked out her google calendar to turn it in a color coded hub for all of her deadlines. And the best part is that it integrates with your project management platform of choice so you can get a daily birds eye view of what's to come.

Lieah is the owner of Harrington Strategic Partners which is a firm that specializes in helping small businesses implement systems and processes to save time, save money, and focus resources on growing revenue. Many moons ago, Lieah was an original beta tester of Evernote and she provides such a wealth of info in how to use this robust platform.

How to automate downloading and organizing your monthly bank statements.
