Nearing the Big Church Serve, Simon spoke about how the cross changed how God called the Church to be. We must not live like pre-resurrection people, but in the light of the cross! Our passage was Romans 12:3-8.
Margaret Fullerton shares from Matthew 25 on the mercy of God, and the call on our lives to live merciful lives.
Simon explores the deterministic idea that everything is decided before we are born and that some people are elect (destined for heaven) and some are reprobate (created for destruction). It was a pretty light and cheery talk:) Our passage was Romans 9.

Sam finishes the last few verses of Romans 8 looking at our freedom and our safety in Christ.

Following Michael's lecture he answered some of the audience's questions that had been written or text to the front.
Michael Ramsden has been European Director of RZIM Zacharias Trust since its foundation in 1997. He is also Director of the Oxford Centre for Christian Apologetics (OCCA) and Lecturer in Christian Apologetics at Wycliffe Hall, Oxford. While at Sheffield University doing research in Law and Economics, Michael taught Moral Philosophy and lectured for the International Seminar on Jurisprudence and Human Rights in Strasbourg. He has been invited to lecture to a variety of groups including the White House staff in Washington, D.C., leaders at NATO HQ in Brussels and Members of the European Parliament.
John Quigley opens up John 14 for us, explaining what it means that Jesus promises the Advocate.
Following an interview from our Rise team (charged by the vestry to look at giving), Simon spoke from 2 Corinthians 8 about reckless giving to the local church and its mission.
Simon looks at how we can recognise Jesus on the road, in the Word and in His Kingdom. The passage is Luke 24, the story on the road to Emmaus.
