The Corinthians were highly critical of Paul. They criticized his age, writing style, speech, bodily appearance, even his apostleship. Paul responded by writing them two letters admonishing them to examine their own lives instead of criticizing others. In the first, he emphasizes performing a solemn self – examination before observing communion, 1 COR. 11:27-31. In the second, he emphasizes the need to scrutinize themselves to determine their spiritual status.
By examining OURSELVES we can locate ourselves spiritually, promote our own spiritual growth, align ourselves with God’s will, and avoid being critical of others. Receive an understanding of examining ourselves.
As we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, let’s consider Who exactly He is Who came and robed Himself in flesh. Instead of seeing Him as a babe only, wrapped in swaddling clothes: let’s remember Him as grace manifested, God’s glory and greatness. The life of Jesus is wonderful for two reasons. First, no life has ever affected the life of man on earth like His, and only His life offers eternal life to those who believe in Him.
To what length would God go to show His love for fallen man? As spoken in 2 Corinthians 9:15, He gave us the gift beyond words. Philippians 2:5-8 tells how He robed Himself in flesh in the person of His son in order to pay our sin debt and reconcile us to Himself. How do we imitate this kind of love? By laying down our lives for the one who laid down His life for us.

Have we taken the time to study 1 CORINTHIANS 13:4-8 (AMPC) so we can understand divine love? Is our motive to become the best Jesus impersonators we can possibly be, so Heaven can call us Jesus “Tribute Artists?”
It’s important to know our authority and to understand how to use our faith. It’s also important to hear what God wants us to do as Jesus and Paul did. Otherwise, we can find ourselves acting in the flesh like Abraham and Sarah, or the seven sons of Sceva! Receive an understanding of Flesh vs Spirit.
We all have glory in earthen vessels. It’s up to us as to what we do with it. Is our goal to become a vessel of honor and to live pleasing to God? Are there changes we need to make? We all must examine ourselves, locate ourselves, and strive to become vessels God can use.

We all have much to be thankful for. We all should take the time to consider all the contributions people have made in our lives and show our appreciation. No one has contributed more than our Creator and redeemer.
Our Heavenly Father is no different than any earthly father who wants his children to mature and become responsible individuals. He gave us the Five-Fold Ministry Gifts to help us along the way. Receive an understanding of certain elements of the Christian life that can assist us on our journey to spiritual maturity.
Each of us is God’s temple or spiritual house. Each of us is responsible to keep the fire burning in our lives by making sacrifices acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. God’s glory is His presence, power, peace, promises, provision and protection in manifestation. Each of us is to examine ourselves to be certain we are living a life that pleases God. Each of us is responsible to contribute to the success of the corporate temple by bringing his glory into it.
In John 16:7, Jesus said it was more important for the Spirit to come than for Him to stay. Receive an understanding of having Faith in the Spirit of God.
God is not the reason for the evil in this world. Evil exists because Lucifer acted apart from God’s will for his existence and Adam followed in his footsteps. Everyone begins life on the road to eternal separation and suffering. Receive an understanding of how our faith can change our destiny.
What we do daily impacts our future. God knows we are creatures of habit and this is why He instructs us to hear His Word day and night, not once a week. Receive an understanding of why and how developing the daily habit of meditating in the Word produces success.
Jesus must have taught Paul some things about living our lives to please God and being fruitful Christians. Every believer should have a strong desire to do both and become productive fruit-bearing branches in the vine. Receive an understanding of being fruitful in prayer.
Our God created the universe, the stars, planets and every living thing there is. He made man in His image and His heart was grieved when man rebelled. What gives Him pleasure today is not the universe, but seeing His salvation worked out in our lives. When man sinned, he fell short of God’s glory. In Christ, that glory is restored! Let’s please Him by allowing Him to have His way in and through us.
In John 14:21-24, Jesus is looking for love-based obedience. The key to obeying is loving. The key to loving is knowing. The key to knowing is reading God’s Word and the more we read His word, the better we get to know God. An abundant life begins with becoming a serious student of the Word. We please God by learning to live by faith, not feeling or reason; by living for eternity, not this life; by serving others. Are we pleasing Him? He will help us if we ask! Receive an understanding of living to please God.
If we truly desire the abundant life Jesus offers, we must understand the keys that open the door for us to experience it. Receive an understanding of the first three keys to abundant life–fruit bearing, abiding and obeying.
Sacrificing our praise and worship gives place to the Refiners fire that purges the unclean and gives place to God’s glory that accomplishes God’s will. Receive an understanding of how sacrificing our praise and worship produces fire and glory in this fifth series of The Glory of God.
As we sacrifice our praise and worship, the refiner’s fire falls and burns up the chaff, making way for the glory of God to manifest. When the glory manifests, God will speak to our hearts and reveal what He wants us to do. Receive an understanding in this fourth series of the Glory of God.
Each of us is a temple of God. Each of us is our own sacrifice to be offered. As we sacrifice, the fire will fall and the glory will fill the house. God’s glory resides in us. If we want it manifested, there must be spiritual hunger, submission to God’s Word, sensitivity to what is sacred, and sanctification. The path of glory is paved with blood. Receive an understanding of the Glory of God.
Moses longed to see God’s glory. David longed to see God’s glory. As we consecrate ourselves before God and express our desire to experience a fresh manifestation of His glory, He will pour out His Spirit on our nation, church and individual lives.
We been given authority over all the power of the enemy. This authority belongs to Jesus who delegated it to believers. This authority is recognized in Heaven and earth. Receive an understanding of the authority Jesus has delegated to us here on earth.
There’s a difference between someone who says he believes and a disciple. It’s one thing to say we believe in Jesus, it’s another to say we are His disciples. A disciple receives Him as Savior and is committed to following Him, learning from His teachings and obeying His commandments.
Redemption is a finished work of grace that is accessed by faith. Grace makes every blessing available. Faith takes what is legally ours and makes it a vital reality. Receive an understanding of By Grace Through Faith.
The first thing Jesus did before starting His public ministry was to be baptized in water in order to fulfill what is right. The last thing Jesus talked about to His disciples was making disciples, Water Baptism and teaching believers to observe His teachings. Water Baptism is something important to God and should be to all who profess faith in Jesus Christ.
Jesus taught that because it’s impossible to go through life without being offended, our heart needs to be protected from becoming bitter and unforgiving. Jesus knew that unforgiveness gives place to demonic activity and divine judgment. So He taught His Disciples to offer unlimited forgiveness. Receive an understanding of Forgiven to Forgive.
LIFE IS BRIEF, DEATH IS CERTAIN, JUDGMENT IS SURE, ETERNITY IS LONG, AND PREPARATION IS NECESSARY. These are the great facts of life. It’s up to us as to what we will do with them. We can accept or ignore them. The choice is ours.
God is looking for faithful intercessors to stand between Him and people. Receive an understanding of the characteristics to be successful in intercession and the focus of regular intercession.
In Luke 4:18-19, Jesus preaches that His commission to the world is to; preach good news to the poor, heal the brokenhearted, set the captives free, recover the sight of the blind, and liberate the oppressed. Jesus has liberated us and His mission is now our mission. As priests for Almighty God, our first mission is to offer up praise to God–to let there be an up flow of praise to God so that there is an inflow of the Spirit in you, which produces an out flow to the world. Receive an understanding of the Year of the Lord.
Worship centers on who God is and what He’s done–He is the Creator of all things and we owe our existence to Him. Receive an understanding on what it means to Worship the Lord.
Jesus overcame the world for us and although there is tribulation in this world, in Him, there is perfect peace. And when we exercise and confess our faith in the finished work of Christ, we too overcome the world. Receive an understanding of our spoken words to the mountains in our lives.
The death of Christ put an end to the Old Covenant in which the Levitical Priesthood was responsible to offer sacrifices required by the Mosaic Law. Today, we as believers make up God’s holy priesthood by offering up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. Receive an understanding of how ministering to the Lord involves Praise, Worship, and Communion.
The Lord declares in Numbers 14:28 as we speak in His ears, so shall He do to us. Our spoken words control our destiny. Paul tells us in1Corithians 10:11, what happened to the Israelites in the wilderness was given as an example for our benefit so that we avoid making the same mistakes they made. Receive an understanding of how to speak words that promote God’s will in our lives.
It’s our duty to discover how God wants us to worship Him and to humble ourselves to worship His way, not ours. Receive an understanding of the characteristics of true worship.
Just as God’s Word has power, ours has the power of life and death. We can speak words of life or death, blessing or cursing, and our words can control our destiny. In Mark 11:23, Jesus teaches us about the power of our words when we speak God’s words to our mountains. Our words unleash the miracle working powers of God.
Lucifer fell from Heaven because he wanted to be worshiped as God. God didn’t promote another angel, He created us to love Him, serve Him and worship Him in spirit and truth. Receive an understanding of man being created to Worship the Lord.
God made us in His own image and gave us authority over all the earth. Just as God’s Word has power, ours has the power of life and death. We can speak words of life or death, blessing or cursing, and our words can control our destiny. God is listening to our words. What are we saying that God is hearing?
Before we can successively stand in faith for healing, we must be fully convinced that healing and health are always the will of God. This truth is the basis for our faith. Faith for healing comes from hearing the Word. The Word must be exalted above what we feel or think. This is the true fight of faith.
We are in the last days and can be a part of the generation that ushers in Jesus’ return. Shouldn’t we be about the Lord’s business? Though many are predicting the date of His return, let’s focus on doing what Jesus commanded us to do until He comes.
To overcome Satan’s fiery darts and lies, we must stand ready with our minds tucked deeply into the truth. Our minds are not to be wasted on Satan’s lies. Receive an understanding for girding up our loins.
Experiencing more of God doesn’t happen because we want it to. If we want to experience something higher in God, we must do our part by lifting up certain areas of our lives to a higher level so God can do His part. Receive an understanding of what it takes to experience more of God.
Whatever the goal, there will be challenges along the way, and setbacks to overcome. We must take courage, stay steadfast and move forward in faith. Then, through the power of God, we will be victorious and achieve success.
There’s a difference between happiness and joy. Joy is internal and based on knowledge, whereas, happiness is external and based on circumstances. Joy is needed to promote strength, health, and glory. Receive an understanding of the biblical perspectives on joy, creating an environment of joy, and the need for joy in our lives.
Our freedoms are so valued that many brave men and women sacrificed their lives to provide them and protect them. But as wonderful as these freedoms are, there is another freedom that is far greater. Receive an understanding of how Jesus is the source of true freedom.
One of the purposes for signs and wonders is to get people to believe in God–to believe He exists, in His integrity, His faithfulness and awesome power. God expects us to use our faith to activate His Glory. Receive an understanding of the greater manifestation of God’s Glory when we invest time seeking the Lord in the Word, in prayer, and in praise & worship.
In Matthew 12:38-40, Jesus states that wicked people seek signs with no intention of believing in Him no matter how many signs they see. Receive an understanding of Signs and Wonders and how they serve to further the purposes of God.
We are living in the last of the last days. God is moving by His Spirit transforming the Church to be as it was in the book of Acts, when signs and wonders confirmed the gospel message and convinced unbelievers to believe. Our prayer should be “stretch forth thine hand to heal and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy Holy Child Jesus.”
Seven Jewish feast days reveal God’s redemptive plan. Each one has significance and meaning. Passover (crucifixion), unleavened bread (burial), first fruits (resurrection), Pentecost (Holy Spirit), trumpets (rapture), atonement (blood applied), tabernacles (1000 year reign). In Acts 1:4-5, Jesus gave instruction to the apostles regarding receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit as promised from the Father. Receive an understanding of the Pentecost and the importance of tongues.
Receive an understanding of the facts about the Spirit Baptism and things done by man that will block the Spirit’s Power.
To believers, nothing is more important than finding and fulfilling God’s plan for our lives. Knowing this, James addresses an attitude in the book of James 4:13-17 that existed among the believers of his day. In their arrogance, they planned their future independent of God. His counsel is for today.
Fasting is a way to humble ourselves, it can help align our hearts with the heart of God, it disciplines the body, and it activates God’s mercy and grace. Receive an understanding of the facts regarding the need for fasting.
In 2 Peter 1:5-9, Peter reminds believers to evaluate their walk with God using diligence knowing the price paid for our salvation was the precious Blood of Jesus. Receive an understanding in the continuation of Adding To Our Faith.
In Colossians 1:9-13, Paul’s prayer sums up our teaching. We’ve been delivered from Satan’s kingdom, we have an inheritance in Christ, and even though Satan will try to prevent us from experiencing our blessings, by faith we can enter our rest and enjoy the full blessings of the gospel.
We’ve come to Jesus. Now it’s up to us to take possession of our inheritance by faith. According to Hebrews 6:11-12, we are not to be slothful or inactive, but diligent to use our faith and inherit the promises already provided for us in Christ.
Mothers are to be held in high esteem who sacrifice their lives for their children and influence them for God. Those who exhibit unfailing faith, undying love, and unyielding perseverance will find their reward in children that fear and obey God.
God’s place of rest for Adam was Eden; for Israel, it was Canaan’s Land; for the believer, it is Christ. Israel’s journey from Egypt to Canaan’s land is like our journey out of the world to our possessions in Christ. Under Moses, we discover failure, under Joshua, we discover success. Receive an understanding in the continuing message of Possessing Our Land # 2.
One of the biggest battles that many face in life today has to do with their value, worth, and identity. Receive an understanding in that what we say about ourselves should be based on who we are and what we have in Christ.
For the believer today, it’s the finished works of Christ where we’ve been blessed with every spiritual blessing and given all things that pertain to life and godliness. In Hebrews 4:1-3 (NLT), A warning is given to us–the Israelites were kept from their place of rest because of unbelief. We are warned not to do the same!
After 4000 years of preparation, the seed of the woman came to redeem man from Satan’s authority. A work that required an incarnation, crucifixion, burial, and resurrection. The seed was Christ, and 2000 years ago when redemption was finished, His mission was accomplished. Although His ministry in redemption, His ministry in heaven continues today.
Hebrews 13:15 instructs us through Jesus to continually offer up to God a sacrifice of praise which is the fruit of our lips that confess His name. Receive an understanding in the continuation of Understanding Confessions with the sacrifice of praise.
Hebrews 3:1 (ESV) teaches us that Jesus is the High Priest of our confession. Confession in Greek means to speak the same thing. It’s more than a verbal agreement, it’s a confession based on deep conviction of facts. It’s affirming something we believe, testifying to what we know, and witnessing for a truth we have embraced. Usually, many think of the word confession as confessing one’s sin, weakness or failures. This is only one side of confession. Receive an understanding of another side of confession.
The resurrection is what distinguishes Christianity from all other belief systems. No other religion can boast of its founder being raised from the dead and showing himself alive with infallible proofs. All that’s left to do is believe!
Celebrating the Lord’s supper is an act of faith intended to impact our thinking in a powerful way. It calls for us to think about the past – the death of or our lord; the present – how His death, burial, and resurrection influence how we live daily; and the future – remembering how He said He would come again.
In Psalms 63:1-4, David’s thirst for God was intense and he compared his thirst to see God’s glory and power again to that of being in a desert without water. Receive an understanding in the 3rd series of Spiritual Thirst.
There is a natural thirst and a spiritual thirst, and thirst has three levels–slightly, moderately, and desperately. Everyone is spiritually dehydrated and thirsty for God. He tells us in Isaiah 44:3 that He pours out His Spirit where people are thirsty for spiritual realities, not carnal realities. Receive an understanding of Spiritual Thirst.
It’s been estimated that 106 billion people have walked the earth since Adam. All made in God’s image but uniquely different. We have different personalities, voices, fingerprints and DNA. Different as we may be, we all have two things in common –HUNGER and THIRST. Receive an understanding of having Spiritual Thirst.
Jesus gave His life to reclaim our lost dominion. Now we are to use the power of His Name to keep the powers of darkness off of our territory, and out of our lives. Receive an understanding of Spiritual Dominion.
Jesus gave His life for us. He left us with two ordinances (laws, decrees, commands) to obey: The Lord’s supper, and Water Baptism. In Matthew 10:32-33, Jesus speaks to us about confessing Him before men– Water Baptism is an opportunity to confess our allegiance to Christ.
“BUT GOD”, when viewed in relation to life’s challenges is what: up is to down, life is to death, victory is to defeat, in is to out, or success is to failure! Ephesians 2:1-6 tells us we were all dead in sin, and under the influences of the world and flesh. By nature, we were Satan’s offspring and on a collision course with destruction. “BUT GOD”, who is rich in mercy and who loves us with great love; Made us alive, Raised us up, Seated us with Christ.
Paul’s conversion was one of the greatest stories of human history and his testimony is still impacting lives today. Christianity is all about change. No matter what we've done, every life can be radically changed by God. If God can change Saul to Paul, from a terrorist to an evangelist, He can reach anyone!
God loves us as we are, but He loves us too much to leave us as we are. He wants to change us until we are aglow with His Spirit and full of His glory. This change comes not by good works, but by being in His presence.
We know our attitudes and thoughts must change for the better. How can we promote this transformation in our lives? There is no magic wand to wave or genie in a bottle to grant our wish. There are two powerful forces that can help us achieve the success we desire-The Word and the Spirit.
Stanford Research Institute reports that only 12.5% of our success in life is determined by knowledge; the other 87.5% comes from attitude. The choice is ours. We must choose to adjust our attitudes to line up with the standard God uses to judge people’s lives, or continue allowing attitudes that displease God to control us. Are we a “Leaning” Tower of Pisa, or “Tower” of Pisa? Do our thoughts and attitudes reflect Christs’, or are they governed by our own feelings and emotions?
In our country, we celebrate certain events to ensure that we don’t forget important things. God instituted certain memorials to help His people remember their past and to better equip them for their future. Receive an understanding of how God wants us to remember.
In 1 Timothy 2:1-3, Paul reveals the attitude believers should have toward those who rule over us. Even if we didn’t vote for them, even if we don’t agree with them, we should pray for them and give thanks for them. Our attitude toward our government and those in authority should be based on what God’s Word teaches. It teaches that those who resist authority resist the ordinance of God, which is an authoritative order or decree.
Having a bad attitude is like having a flat tire. If we don’t fix it, we won’t get very far. Jonah’s bad attitude got him into the belly of a fish. The Israelites bad attitudes kept them out of the land of promise. These, and other Old Testament examples were written to teach us.
Our attitude is our inward disposition toward people or circumstances. If we desire to succeed in life, our attitude must constantly be changing for the better.
Our attitude can make or break us, hurt or help us. If we desire success, our attitude must be changing for the better. Is the glass half full or half empty? We must have a victorious attitude like Paul, who was rooted in God’s promises and the finished work of Christ in redemption.
It’s been said that attitude determines the altitude we climb to in life. Our attitude can make or break us, help or hurt us, cause failure or success. A bad attitude can destroy marriages, children’s lives, careers, churches, relationships and hinder our walk with God. No wonder Paul said our attitude should always be changing for the better.
A disciple is a disciplined student or one who studies the life and teachings of His master in order to emulate his life. Since Jesus is no longer with us in the flesh, the way we study His life and teachings is by studying the Bible. Receive an understanding of how to study God’s Word.
I was first introduced to Jesus the Healer while working at the YOungstown Sheet and Tube Company. I knew about His virgin birth, and His dying on the cross, but I knew nothing about how He healed everyone who came to Him no matter what their condition was. As I read through the Gospel, I was convinced that Jesus detested disease, and was passionate about removing it from peoples' lives.
A wholesome dread of displeasing God involves both reverence for His holiness and goodness, as well as understanding the reality of judgment and hell. The Word gives us a very vivid depiction of hell and though the grace of God equips us to avoid it entirely, we cannot ignore the truth of its terror.
The temple was finished, Solomon prays a dedicatory prayer, the fire of God falls, the glory fills the temple, and the people bow in worship before God. After eight days, the Lord appears to Solomon and reveals what promotes or prevents His presence and blessings among them. Disobedience and rebellion prevent revival, while repentance and obedience promote revival. These verses speak to Israel, but they also speak to every generation of God’s people. “If my people.”
Faith, hope and love are three powerful forces that play a vital role in every believer’s life. Love is the greatest because it will continue after faith and hope have fulfilled their purpose. Faith deals with the past and present, hope deals with the future, and love is eternal. W.E. Vines Expository Dictionary of New Testament words defines fear as being a controlling motive of a life in matters spiritual and moral; to possess a wholesome dread of displeasing God. The one who fears God will hate sin, depart from evil, delight in God’s commandments. Our goal as Christians is to perfect holiness in the fear of God.
Paul and Barnabas preached the gospel at Lystra. What they preached produced faith in the heart of a cripple from birth. What message did they preach? If the man had faith to be healed, why was he not healed? We may want a loaf of bread. We may have money in our pocket to buy it. Why don’t we have it? Our money must be released in order to receive the bread. Jesus taught that faith is released with words.
