Parkway Hills continues walking through the great 50 days of Easter with our series “This is my Story, This is my Song!”, celebrating the faith that brings us together. Today, we use Psalm 98 and the world’s most published hymn: “Joy to the World” to help us tell our story. This song of praise is not just a carol for Christmas, but a song for all times and all Easter People!

Many of us know this beloved hymn. What can 1st John teach us about loving to tell the story of Christ?
Easter People: We continue celebrating the great 50-days of Easter telling the resurrection story with a beloved Methodist hymn: “O for a Thousand Tongues to Sing!”
Parkway Hills is walking through the great 50 days of Easter with our series “This is my Story, This is my Song!”, celebrating the faith that brings us together. Today, we look at one of Jesus’ first resurrection appearances and consider the reaction of the disciples. Their stories, just like our own, include questions and struggles with faith. “While in their joy they were disbelieving and still wondering…”

Learn more On this second Sunday of Lent, we continue our Lenten series on Holy Mischief by considering one of the most mischievous characters in all of Scripture: Jacob. Today’s message is taken from Genesis 25: 19-28.

The staff members of Parkway Hills have each chosen a line from one of their favorite Christmas carols; we are using these lines to guide our worship each week. On this fourth week of Advent, the line is “…a thrill of hope, the weary world rejoices, for yonder breaks a new and glorious morn…”, taken from “O Holy Night”. Consider with us how Mary’s reaction to the news of Christ is a model for the Christian life.

On this third week of Advent, the line is “How silently, how silently, the wondrous gift is given”, taken from “O Little Town of Bethlehem”. What does the hymn and the birth of Christ have to teach us today as we hope and wait?
It is the second week of Advent, and our monthly communion observance. Today, we talk about longing for Christ. It is in our darkest times that we most need a glimpse of the light that is to come, that we most need comfort and hope. The season of Advent is all about watching and waiting for light to break into the dark places, watching and waiting for the reconciliation and renewal begun in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus to be made fully complete, on earth as it is in heaven.

Advent and the liturgical year kick off with our “Comfort and Hope of Christmas” series. The staff members of Parkway Hills have each chosen a line from one of their favorite Christmas carols; we will use these lines to guide our worship each week. This week’s line is “Sing, choirs of angels, sing in exultation; O sing, all ye citizens of heaven above!”, taken from “O Come, All Ye Faithful”.
This Advent, we will fully experience all the pieces of Advent - for we all wait, we all watch for life to just get back to normal. We all need comfort and hope and we need it now. What a gift that this is exactly what our story of faith provides. Beginning today, and taking us through the Advent and Christmas season, we will focus on the comfort and hope of our Christmas story. Walk with us through this season!
Happy Thanksgiving week! This year may be different, but some things about this season and our calling never change!
For the final sermon in our ALL IN series, we consider how GRATITUDE fits into a life of faith.
Today is also Consecration Sunday when we ask all to prayerfully consider how God is calling you to be ALL IN. If you have not already done so, please submit your 2021 Pledge Card. You may do so in person, by mail, or online. Thank you!
We take a look at the life and times of Jeremiah and what that means to us today as we seek to go ALL IN: “Trust”.
Today is an important Sunday for churches around the world as we remember those who have gone before us: All Saints Sunday. Remember and celebrate the lives of those who helped you on your journey of faith with this message on being ALL IN - “Faith”.
Those in the Madison area are invited to curbside communion from 4 pm-5 pm on Nov 1st, and to walk our candlelit memorial trail starting at 4pm.
What does it take to go All In? This week we look at how what we have can affect others when we commit to following God.
Today we begin a new sermon series, looking at various Bible characters who went “All In” on faith after having an experience with God. In this first message, we use scripture from Luke 3 to look at the call of John the Baptist.
Jesus says the greatest commandment is, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” The second is like it, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
Today, we look at the second; we consider love for neighbor and its core role in the Christian faith.
We begin a new month with a new scriptural emphasis: LOVE. Jesus says the greatest commandment is, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” The second is like it, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
Continuing our “I Am” sermon series, we look at the statement, “I Am the Vine.” Today, we turn to John 15 and hear Christ’s promises for those who abide in Him.
Our "I AM" series continues looking at foundational teachings of Jesus, and we close with some exciting news about regathering opportunities! Beginning September 20th, we will have an 8:30 am outdoor service on our campus, and a 10:45 indoor service in the Sanctuary. RSVP required for the 10:45 service.
It is a very special week in our “I Am” series as we observe communion and recognize our children and teachers headed back to school for a new year. Jesus said, “I am the Resurrection and the Life.” The promise of resurrection and the hope of new life is the story of Jesus!
Our sermon series on the “I Am” statements of Jesus continues. Today we focus on “I Am the Good Shepherd”, and we look at some of the most famous imagery in the Bible; plus, a preview of some special back to school events next week!
Rev. Philip Messner, our Minister of Music and Associate Pastor, guides us through what it means for Jesus to be the door (or gate) as our “I Am” series continues.
To know and love God more, we continue to explore the “I Am” statements of Jesus. Today, we look at “ I Am the Light of the World”. Rev. Flowers arose while it was still dark in order to record this sermon as the sun began to rise. As you listen to the words of this message, you will also hear the background sounds of creation waking up!
Today, we come together to kick off our new fall emphasis, striving to stay in love with God! We will learn more about who God is over the next 2 months by examining the “I Am” statements of Jesus. We begin with a look at Moses and the burning bush, when God simply reveals God’s name as a verb of being: I Am.
Today we conclude our “Better Together” sermon series with a look at how our lives are bound up in each other. Go forth to strengthen and encourage one another!
It is a special Sunday in the life of Parkway Hills United Methodist Church! Our youth always take an active roll in worship, service to others, and relationship building, but today, our youth use all of their talents to lead us in worship. Well done!
As part of our sermon series, “Better Together”, we look at the familiar story of Esther and Mordecai to learn the importance knowing when to speak and when to listen. It is through their relationship we are able to see God at work, using Mordecai and Esther to save all of God’s people. We encourage you to take the time to read the entire story of Esther!

In addition, ourSunday Morning Worship Service will also honor our graduates. This year's Baccalaureate Service will not look like those of the past, but it will hold as much love, pride and significance as any other!

When we all do finally gather together again, I cannot wait to hear how God has spoken to each of us about how we are church and how we can bechurch. God speaks in the stillness,

About 9 months ago, we all began a journey together. We committed to a year reflecting on our second core value, GROW; and since August, we have walked through the Bible together. We have covered A LOT!We shared the stories of Genesis and Exodus, looked at the Law, reflected on the historical books of the Hebrew people, listened to poetry, and received the Wisdom literature (Proverbs, Job, Ecclesiastes). We closed out 2019 and the Old Testament with the prophets, and began 2020 with the parables of Jesus found in Matthew, Mark, and Luke. We began Lent with the Letters of the New Testament, and none of us could have predicted how Lent would end for us, or how Easter 2020 would look. While everything about our normal routines has been disrupted, we will continue with our original plan to finish out this year of the Bible with the book of Acts. I have decided there could not be a better time for us to read through this story of the church.
We are Easter People, and we are committed to finding new ways to be community for each other during Holy Week and beyond. Stay in touch, ask for help, volunteer to aid others, and continue to live into our core values: welcome, grow, serve and celebrate!
Holy Week looks a little different this year. This is not a bad thing. We may not be able to take this journey-side by-side, but we can still walk it together! Easter always comes!
