On today's episode we are joined by Madeline. Madeline has applied for and been deemed eligible for Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) despite having a manageable disability. She is not being given adequate living expenses by the government, and can't continue to live as she doesn't have access to necessary treatments to manage her disability, or live in Vancouver. Madeline wants to live, but there are many barriers to getting funding to live, such as lack of research into her medical condition. She has been gracious enough to sit down and share her story and the inadequacies the Canadian government has when it pertains to supporting the community of those with disabilities. The documentary centers around Wray's family and their journey of raising a son with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) through 18 years of home footage.

In our Access Economy segment we have been looking at what popular share companies have done (or not done) to make their services accessible to their disabled customers. In part 2 of our Access Economy segment we look at accessibility in ride-share companies. With talk of Uber coming to the Lower Mainland we chat with MLA Stephanie Cadieux .
Stephanie Cadieux is the Liberal MLA for Surrey South and the Opposition Critic for Advanced Education serving in the BC legislative assembly . Cadieux also has a disability herself and is in a wheelchair . In fact, she is the first women in a wheelchair to serves as cabinet minister and for BC parliament . In the past she has worked for the BC Paraplegic Association (now SCI-BC) as director of marketing and development, as manager of accessibility for 2010 Legacies Now, and has been president of Realwheels Society.
In this episode we talk to Emily Ladau. Emily Ladau is a writer, a blogger and disability rights advocate from Long Island, New York. She has written for The New York Times, The Huffington Post and Vice. Aside from writing in her blog “Words I Wheel By,” Emily is the the Editor and Chief for Rooted in Rights. The Motivation, Power and Achievement (MPA) Society is is a non-profit organization supporting recovery for people with mental illness with social, vocational, recreation, advocacy and housing programs. Founded in 1971, MPA society celebrates its history in their MAD City exhibit. In part two we listen the rest of our conversation with founding member Patty Gazzola and Professor Megan Davis from York University who is the lead researcher in the society’s MAD City project.

Disability Alliance BC is a provincial not-for profit organization with a mandate to support people with all disabilities to live with dignity, independence and as equal and full participants in the community.
To learn more about disability in film and TV the Access Collective sought the expertise of Gail Williamson, Coby Bird and Katherine Crawford. Gail is the head of the diversity department for KMR Talent in LA , one of the only talent agencies in the world with it's own diversity branch . Coby is a young up-and-coming actor with autism who recently guest starred on popular show "The Good Doctor." Katherine is a leg amputee, actress and model who has been in the shows Graceland and NCIS: New Orleans

Nicole is on the autism spectrum and was terminated from their job at Edgewater Casino at the end of September. In reaction, they protested their rights and rallied against them. Spikes and Bikes is a bicycle overdose response unit launched in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside to curb the rate of overdose deaths. All Access Pass kicks-off CiTR's annual Fundrive with the help of Julia Ansbacher , her mom Andrea, Krisha and Aleesa from PLAN. Julia has Non-Ketotic Hyperglycinemia (NKH) which is a rare, genetic, metabolic disorder caused by a defect in the enzyme system that breaks down the amino acid glycine, resulting in an accumulation of glycine in the body's tissues and fluids. Tune in to learn more about NKH and hear about the amazing work they are doing to raise awareness!

All Access Pass reports on the 15th annual Homelessness Marathon. The Access Collective looks at how homelessness and disability are connected and factor into one another. This Homelessness Marathon is a yearly overnight radio broadcast shared on campus and community stations from coast to coast, creating linkages and raising awareness of homelessness in Canadian communities. The Marathon is made possible each year with content created by members of the National Campus and Community Radio Association.
