Damola Adamolekun is an Operating Partner at Garnett Station Partners and the former Chief Executive Officer of the global restaurant chain P.F. Chang’s, where he led the company in strategic initiatives ensuring the continued growth and success of one of the most important hospitality brands in the world.
Mr. Adamolekun also previously served as a Partner at Paulson & Co., a New York based investment firm, and the principal owner of P.F. Chang’s, where he played a vital role in the sourcing and subsequent management of several of the firm’s largest investments.
Previously, Mr. Adamolekun has worked in the Investment Banking Division of Goldman Sachs and as a Private Equity Associate at TPG Capital. Mr. Adamolekun previously served on the boards of P.F. Chang’s, Inday, the National Restaurant Association, and International Tower Hill Mines (NYSE: THM), and was a Board Observer for Bausch Health Companies (NYSE: BHC).
In 2021, Mr. Adamolekun was recognized with three GLOBEE Leadership Gold awards for CEO of the Year: Food and Beverage, CEO of the Year: Hospitality, Travel, Recreation, Leisure, and Top CEO of the Year: The Rising Star, as well as a GLOBEE Leadership Silver award for CEO Achievers: Transformational Leader of the Year, while in 2022 he was named in Nation’s Restaurant News’ Power List among the most innovative and inspiring leaders in the restaurant industry.
Mr. Adamolekun received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Political Science from Brown University, where he was a member of the Ivy League champion Brown Football team and served as President of the Brown Investment Group, and a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School, where he served as Portfolio Manager for the HBS Investment Club.

Welcome back to the more we know! Because the more we know, the more we grow. Today your mentor is the famous american restauranteur out of Chicago, Kevin Boehm.
After opening 40 restaurants over the last 30 years, James Beard Foundation Award-winning restaurateur Kevin Boehm has established himself as one of the world’s foremost hospitality visionaries. Kevin, along with his partner Rob Katz, has built a restaurant group based on great chefs, inspired design, and enlightened hospitality.
Born in 1970, Kevin grew up in Springfield, Illinois, and told his mother at age 10 that he wanted to open his own restaurant one day.
After attending the University of Illinois for two nonconsecutive years, he dropped out and moved to the Florida Panhandle to start working in restaurants and embark on a self-directed on-the-job hospitality education. After enduring homelessness, fist fights, and six months working at an amusement park, he wrote an embellished resumé that landed him a coveted captain position at Beach House Restaurant. Within a few years, he’d squirreled away enough money to open a six-table restaurant in 1993 in Seaside, Florida, the picture-perfect location where Peter Weir’s The Truman Show, starring Jim Carrey, was filmed. In 1995, he opened Indigo Wine Bar in the same town, and helped cater for the movie’s dailies screenings.
Restaurants in Springfield, Illinois, and Nashville, Tennessee followed. By age 30, Boehm had opened and sold four restaurants.
In 2002, Boehm partnered with Rob Katz to form what in time became Boka Restaurant Group. Eventually, they would open 36 places in less than 20 years. The group’s many accolades and accomplishments include 18 James Beard Award nominations, two Food & Wine Best New Chefs, 13 consecutive Michelin Guide stars for Boka, and 6 Boka Restaurant Group restaurants on Chicago Tribune’s Top 50 list.
Boehm, along with Katz, won Restaurateurs of the year from TimeOut Chicago in 2010, the Chicago Tribune in 2011, and The Illinois Restaurant Association in 2017, and were Eater National’s Empire Builders of the year in 2012. They have been James Beard Finalists for Best Restaurateur in America 2016-2019, winning the award in 2019, and New City Chicago ranked them #1 in 2017 in its annual list of the 50 most powerful influencers on the Chicago dining scene.
In addition to Boka Restaurant Group, in 2020 Boehm co-founded Bian, a private club with a foundation in wellness. Forbes called it “the ultimate wellness destination.”
As a writer he has had pieces published in Esquire, Plate, The Chicago Sun Times, and McSweeneys, and he is a contributing writer for Fast Company. His first book, “The Bottomless Cup,” comes out on Abrams Press in 2025.
Kevin has been a featured or keynote speaker for the National Restaurant Show, MUFSO, Miami Food& Wine, New York City Wine & Food Festival, The Illinois Restaurant Association, Kellogg School of Management, University of Illinois, ChicagoGourmet, Asheville Independent Restaurant Show, Hearst, Cameron Mitchell Restaurants, The Welcome Conference at Lincoln Center, & Welcome Chicago.
He has given the commencement address at both Culinary Institute of America & Kendall College.
He currently sits on the board of the Illinois Restaurant Association, Open Table, 826 CHI, and Easter Seals.
Kevin lives in Chicago and frequently spends time in Los Angeles and New York City, where Boka Restaurant Group has opened restaurants in recent years.

Today your mentor is Robert Blackwell Jr. the founder of Killerspin, the world’s leading table tennis engagement brand, and the founder of EKI-Digital, a digital investment consulting firm. Blackwell is also a former employer of then-state Senator Barack Obama, as well as a political supporter and personal friend of Obama.
Killerspin creates table tennis experiences that connect family/friends/customers and employees and is the world's leading producer of designer table tennis equipment and media. EKI-Digital helps organizations turn IT into money. EKI has helped organizations design, implement and manage business applications that have generated $Billions in revenue and savings.
Robert has also served on many civic boards. He currently serves the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce, Civic Federation of Chicago, Business Leadership Council. He is also an executive committee to Choose Chicago. In addition to EKI-Digital and Killerspin, Blackwell founded a number of other companies. Those include Urban Fishing Development, Bytewise International and Blackwell Consulting Services. In May 2016, Blackwell presented Pope Francis with a customized ping-pong table for the Vatican. As Crain's Chicago Business put it, "Here's one way to get more people playing pingpong religiously: Get the pope on your side." Blackwell planned a table tennis showcase hosted by his company Killerspin called the "World Unplug and Play Day" in Vatican City in August 2016. The governing body of Italian table tennis came up with the idea to encourage ping-pong playing as a way to get people away from "technology-induced isolation.

Your mentor today is none other than the worlds top NBA Insider, sports reporter, Shams Charania. You may have seen Shams all over twitter covering all things NBA Basketball with his 2 million+ followers. OR you may have recently seen him cover the NBA Draft we just had. If you have seen a report come out about a recent trade, an NBA coach leaving, whatever it is, it is likely Shams has covered it. He is a sports reporter who has covered the NBA for sometime and has had an impressive career where he continues to thrive. He has broken news of signings by some of the league's biggest stars, including Stephen Curry, Blake Griffin and DeMar DeRozan. Shams has become one of the most dominant sports reporters in the NBA, and we got to interview the legend for the next half hour, and have him be our mentor.
Shams is an American sports reporter for The Athletic and Stadium where he covers the NBA. He is also a FanDuel Partner and co-host of Run It Back on FanDuel TV. Charania is a preeminent NBA insider for The Athletic and Stadium, breaking news on hundreds of major signings and trades to his more than two million fans on Twitter and Instagram. He started his sports journalism career at 17 and was hired as Yahoo Sports full-time NBA insider in 2015 at 21. Shams, like our host Sameer, attended Loyola University Chicago. Your mentor today is Jon Grauman.
Jon sold over $230 million in 2019, ranking him among the top Realtors in the country, and #20 in Los Angeles County by L.A. Business Journal. Jon has been recognized by The Wall Street Journal, L.A. Business Journal, Los Angeles Magazine and several other media outlets as one of the leading agents in the local L.A. market. In 2019, Jon sold 822 Sarbonne Road for $75 million, achieving the 10th highest sale in the history of Los Angeles.
High-end, luxury listings are not Jons sole focus. He and his team proudly represent a wide variety of properties at varying price points across the city. Serving the client, building trust and cultivating a culture of integrity are priorities for Jon and his team.
As an L.A. native, Jon is intimately familiar with the city where he has spent his entire life. He has more than 17 years of experience as a real estate agent, developer and (formerly) mortgage broker, and as such, he understands every facet of the business. Jon has extensive experience in construction and high-end residential development. He has developed multiple properties in Beverly Hills and the Sunset Strip. Most notably, Jon was the developer of a modern/architectural home designed by acclaimed architect Hagy Belzberg that sold for $24 million.

Bushra Amiwala is one of the youngest elected muslim officials in history and daughter of immigrants who truly appreciates diversity in its many beautiful forms. As communities across our nation – the working poor, religious and ethnic minorities, and young changemakers who are ignored by political establishments – are pushed aside, Bushra is a committed voice for underrepresented citizens. She seeks to ensure that our nation’s future is in good hands by building a compassionate, politically-engaged generation.
Amiwala was born in Chicago and lived in the Rogers Park area until she was 10. Her family then moved to Skokie, where she graduated from Niles North High School. She began her political career as an intern for Republican senator Mark Kirk, and was encouraged by her field office manager, Benjamin Polony, to run her own campaign for the Cook County Board of Commissioners as a college freshman. She came in second in the Democratic primaries, earning 14,988 votes, a total of 30.6% of the vote in a three-person race. Amiwala began an annual service project on her birthday, and in 2018 made and distributed hundreds of care packages in the Chicago area with Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky, who endorsed her campaign. Amiwala was named one of Glamour Magazine's 2018 College Women of the Year. Amiwala is an avid public speaker and has spoken in many events such as TEDxDePaul University and Harvard University to name a few. She is one of the subjects of an original documentary called And She Could Be Next on PBS. She is also the female candidate on Amazon Prime's RUN The Series. She is currently the subject of an original Hulu documentary called Our America: Women Forward.

Ross is the Co-Founder, President and CEO of Gerber Kawasaki Wealth and Investment Management. Ross has become one of the most influential investors on social and in traditional media. Ross received his BA in Communications from the Annenberg School at the University of Pennsylvania concentrating in Business Law at the Wharton School of Business, graduating class of 1993. Ross also received a second concentration in Classical Music Studies at the University of Pennsylvania and attended the Grove School of Music. Ross was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA, and attended Brentwood High School with the graduating class of 1989. Ever since he was a child, Ross has had a passion for investing and music.
He began learning and following investments as a 13-year-old after receiving Apple and Disney stock as a gift for his birthday. His passion for learning and investing grew as he followed the bull market of the '80s throughout his high school education. During college, Ross pursued his degree as well as his passion for music, forming several local bands. Upon graduating college, Ross returned to Los Angeles in 1994 and joined an independent investment firm affiliated with SunAmerica Securities. In 1998, at the age of 27, Ross received the Archon and Million Dollar Branch Award* and was the youngest million-dollar branch manager in SunAmerica's history. In March of 1999, Ross began overseeing 15 branches and over 200 advisors for SunAmerica securities/ AIG Advisor Group.
In 2008, the financial crisis caused the collapse of several major financial institutions and the government bailout of others, challenging the existing state of affairs within the financial industry. Navigating these trying times, Ross understood the importance of focusing on the client's best interest utilizing a modern and unbiased approach to serving the client community. Your Mentor Today is legendary economist, Professor John List. You are in for one of the best master classes on economics ever!
John A. List is the Kenneth C. Griffin Distinguished Service Professor of Economics at the University of Chicago. His research includes over 200 peer-reviewed journal articles and several published textbooks. Previous to The Voltage Effect, he co-authored the international best seller, The Why Axis, in 2013. He is currently the Chief Economist of one of the largest companies in the world, Walmart.
His research focuses on combining field experiments with economic theory to deepen our understanding of the economic science. In the early 1990s, List pioneered field experiments as a methodology for testing behavioral theories and learning about behavioral principles that are shared across different domains. To obtain data for his field experiments, List has made use of several different markets, including charitable fundraising activities, the sports trading card industry, the ride-share industry, and the education sector, to highlight a few. This has lead to collaborative work with several different schools and charities, as well as firms including: Lyft, Uber, United Airlines, Virgin Airlines, Humana, Sears, Kmart, Facebook, Google, General Motors, Tinder, Citadel, Walmart, and several non-profits.
John was elected a Member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2011, and a Fellow of the Econometric Society in 2015. List received the 2010 Kenneth Galbraith Award, the 2008 Arrow Prize for Senior Economists for his research in behavioral economics in the field, and was the 2012 Yrjo Jahnsson Lecture Prize recipient. He is a current Editor of the Journal of Political Economy.
In November 2014 he was awarded an honorary doctorate by Tilburg University. Tilburg University calls him "a true pioneer in experimental field research," whose innovative work has "finally made it possible to test behavioral economic theory in everyday practice...He has raised this research area to a higher level with his originality, expertise, and impact, and he is an inspiration to many."

In a word, Drew Valentine is a winner. He has played a huge role in Loyola University Chicago’s rise to national prominence over the last five years and was named the Ramblers’ head men’s basketball coach on April 5, 2021. In nine seasons on coaching staffs in his career, Valentine has guided teams to the postseason seven times, including three NCAA Sweet 16 appearances, two of which wound up with trips to the Final Four. During his five seasons at Loyola, Valentine has helped lead the Ramblers to a 124-44 overall record, three NCAA Tournament berths, a trip to the National Invitation Tournament, three regular-season Missouri Valley Conference championships and three MVC Championship titles. At 30 years of age, Valentine, a native of Lansing, Mich., is the youngest head coach in NCAA Division I men’s basketball. In 2017, he was named to the Under Armour 30-Under-30 Team, presented by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC), as one of the top coaches under the age of 30.
Valentine made quite a splash in his first season as Loyola’s head coach in 2021-22, setting a program record for wins by a first-year Rambler skipper (25), while also becoming the only first-year coach in program history to lead Loyola to a NCAA Tournament appearance.
One of only three first-year head coaches to steer his club to 25 or more wins in 2021-22, Valentine also became the youngest head coach since Todd Bozeman in 1993 to lead his team to a national ranking. Loyola earned a No. 22 ranking in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll in mid-January.
Valentine put his twist on the Rambler program in 2021-22 and once again Loyola ranked among the nation’s top offensive and defensive teams in the nation, while also establishing a single-season school record by knocking down 293 three-point field goals. Under Valentine’s tutelage, five Ramblers collected All-Missouri Valley Conference accolades, including guard Lucas Williamson, who was tabbed MVC Defensive Player of the Year for the second straight season, and also garnered first team all-league recognition.
In four years as an assistant coach on Porter Moser’s staff at Loyola, Valentine played a pivotal role in the program’s ascension to national prominence, helping the Ramblers to a 99-36 (.733) overall record and a 56-16 (.778) ledger in Missouri Valley Conference action. =
For his final two seasons as an assistant coach at Loyola, Valentine served as the de facto defensive coordinator for a Ramblers unit that ranked 21st in the nation in scoring defense in 2019-20 (62.7 ppg) and first in the country (56.1 ppg) in 2020-21. During his four seasons on the Loyola staff as an assistant, Loyola ranked in the top six in the nation in scoring defense three times but it wasn’t just the defense that thrived. Although defense has been Loyola’s calling card, the Ramblers have also ranked among Division I’s best in field goal percentage in each of the last five seasons. A proven winner, Valentine has helped lead Loyola to five consecutive seasons with at least 20 wins, including a school-record

Your Mentor Today is one of my favorite actresses, Deirdre Lovejoy.
Deirdre Lovejoy is an American actress. She is best known for her role as Assistant State's Attorney Rhonda Pearlman on HBO’s The Wire. She is also known for her roles as a serial killer Heather Taffet on the Fox series Bones and White House Counsel Cynthia Panabaker on NBC’s series The Blacklist.
Theater, TV and Film actor Deirdre Lovejoy is perhaps best known for her portrayal of States Attorney Rhonda Pearlman for five seasons on HBO’s critically acclaimed THE WIRE. The show is often cited as one of the most influential and realistic television dramas of all time and continues to thrill fans on HBO On Demand.
She is also a popular character on Netfix’s Raising Dion, Charlotte the mysterious mentor to the series’ lead character Dion. On the Blacklist Dede is known for her long stint as wise cracking White House Counsel turned senator Cynthia Panabaker. Her star turn as the brilliant/evil lawyer/serial killer, Heather Taffett, aka “The Gravedigger”on the medical procedural Bones is still a fan favorite.
Dede has played murderers, mothers, detectives, doctors, lawyers, social workers, and weeping versions of all of the above. She’s been lobotomized, arrested, jailed, killed by cars and peanut oil, witnessed successful face transplants and had her head exploded off of her body by sniper fire (one of Bones’ most popular GIFS to date).

Josh A. Webber is a Canadian, award-winning independent filmmaker, director, producer, and screenwriter. A graduate of the New York Film Academy in New York City (2009), he has pursued a career working on commercials, television programs, short and feature films.
His first short film, Batter Up (2009), won the Golden Honu Award for Best Family Short in the Big Island Film Festival and received awards in several North American Film Festivals including Best Family Film in the Palm Beach International Film Festival, and Best Canadian Film in the Young Cuts Film Festival.
Webber has written, directed and produced several feature films including A Broken Code (2012), There Is Many Like Us (2015) American Rackets (2017), Secrets of Deception (2017), and Never Heard (2017).
Webber has also worked as the Director of Photography and editor on several television programs and with corporate clients such as General Motors, Ford, McDonald's, DreamWorks, Warner Brothers, Budweiser, and Red Bull to produce promotional videos, documentaries.
Weber also recently won a lawsuit that gained nationwide press against Dame Dash. That movie also included popular rap star Lil Durk! In this episode, he speaks about that lawsuit and goes into detail . You do not want to miss this one! Some valuable business lessons.

Your mentor today: Julian Sanchez. Julian Sanchez is a legally blind analyst who works for Goldman Sachs. Julian is also a two-time double-organ transplant recipient and a cancer survivor. Sanchez was born with polycystic liver and kidney disease, which began manifesting in life-threatening ways at 2 years old, when his mother ultimately donated her kidney to replace his. At the age of 9, that liver began to fail, resulting in a major gastrointestinal bleed. This event limited oxygen to his optic nerve which led to the loss of most of his eyesight. At 17, he was diagnosed with post-transplant lymphoproliferative disorder and had to undergo chemotherapy. In 2013, he underwent a double organ transplant, which necessitated his being airlifted from Singapore to Chicago for the operation. He is here today on The More We know show to share his story and inspiring all of us to say, ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE! Not only does Julian work at one of the most prestigious firms in the world and has a disability, but he is using his story as his strength by helping people with disabilities score their dream jobs. Julian has paved the way for many, and has overcame things that we take for granted in our day to day lives.

Carmen finished his academic career at Northern Illinois University where he received his Juris Doctorate. During law school, he worked as a clerk with the Will County States Attorney's office. Carmen was the NIU College of Law Student Bar President and a member of a hand-full of student organizations. Following his passing of the bar exam in 2012, Carmen worked for the civil & Manzella, P.C. in Joliet, IL, where he concentrated primarily on appellate court drafting.
In 2013 Mr. Rossi proudly introduced “8”, a Hospitality Management Company that manages and employs hundreds of individuals in the Chicagoland area.
In 2014 he started "Chicago Knight Life" a company he built to involve his hospitality
portfolio with local Chicago charities. Chicago Knight Life reaches out directly to Chicago organizations and charities to provide a warm meal and companionship. All employees of his hospitality portfolio are encouraged to volunteer for weekly visits to charities. These calls range in purpose from passing out food, helping serve and engaging in conversation to enhance life. Chicago Knight Life has worked with Little Black Pearl, Sarah's Circle, Ronald McDonald House, Asian Youth Services and many others.
Lawyer and entrepreneur Carmen Rossi founded 8 Hospitality Group, a restaurant, hospitality-development, and management company that specializes in food and beverage marketing, branding, promotions, public relations, and operations. Carmen’s practice in commercial law focuses on contracts and appellate court drafting. Your Mentor Today- The Founder of Reebok.
Joe founded Reebok in 1958 with his late brother Jeff, following their family heritage back to 1895. Joe's Grandfather, also Joseph W Foster, pioneered the spiked running shoe and famously made shoes for the Worlds best athletes of the early 20th century, with World records and Olympics Gold Medals.
Wearing (pumps) made by J W Foster & Sons Ltd, Harold Abrahams and Eric Liddell won Olympic Gold Medals in the 1928 Paris Olympics and were immortalised in the film ‘Chariots of Fire’.
With Reebok they followed in his footsteps, with Olympic, Commonwealth and European medals and World record breaking performances, represented now by the range of Reebok Classics.
The Foster family had been hand-making running shoes since the late 19th century, supplying the likes of Eric Liddell and Harold Abrahams - later immortalised in the film Chariots of Fire - as well as providing boots to most football league clubs. But a feud between Joe Foster’s father and his uncle about the direction of J W Foster & Sons prompted Joe and his brother Jeff to leave the family business and set up a new company. Inspired by the success of brands such as Adidas, Reebok was born and Joe’s ambitions were sky-high.
At first, money was so tight that Joe, Jeff and their wives all lived in their rundown factory, with the heavy shoe-making machinery strategically placed to avoid the floor collapsing. As the business grew in fits and starts, Joe’s vision for the brand became ever clearer and the setbacks, near bankruptcies and tough lessons only served to push Joe and reebok harder towards the ultimate goal: breaking America
While Reebok continued to be known for it’s excellent running shoes, it’s big break came thanks to the aerobics craze of the 1980’s. Soon Reeboks were on Hollywoods red carpets, on the feet of rock stars and even played a starring role in Aliens when Sigourney Weaver took down extra-terrestrials in a pair of Reebok Alien Stompers.

Suzie Yorke, is the CEO and founder of Love Good Fats - a healthy snack empire which is on a mission to bring healthy fats back. Before launching Love Good Fats, Suzie was VP of marketing for companies like Weight Watchers, Wellnx Life Sciences, and Zag Group.
Suzie is a mom, eleven-time Ironman competitor and yoga enthusiast, Suzie spent years adhering to a low-fat diet only to hit a wall in her mid-40s. After reading Nina Teicholz’s best seller, Big Fat Surprise, she immediately shifted to a high-fat, low-carb diet, and felt better right away. While she loved the benefits of her new lifestyle, Suzie found it challenging to find convenient, good-fat snacks. Suzie developed Love Good Fats, a company that produces high-fat, low-carb, and low-sugar products. Love Good Fats now has 10 flavors. Anthony has an amazing story, he is a college dropout, but has been an entrepreneur through his college career as he has already sold two businesses at a young age of 25. Anthony has stated that his big shift was when he skipped class one day to go see Mark Cuban and Mark Burnett- where he was actually able to pitch to them and secured a $100,000 investment for 5% equity in his company. As he continued to work on his start-up as you hear him speak on this podcast and on as an article on Medium.com describes it, "Anthony was faced with great adversity. Anthony was in an accident in a swimming pool in 2016 which left him paralyzed from the neck down. He was in the hospital for months and took some time away from his business to work on his recovery. Anthony’s physical rehabilitation is a priority in his life, and he continues to work on his recovery today" (Medium.com, Matt Shaffer).
That being said even as he is paralyzed from the neck down he is a WARRIOR changing up the investment space by allowing the everyday investor to invest in Fine Wine- an asset that does not have real correlation to the stock market sort of like gold (Disclaimer: neither Anthony, or I are providing any investment advice in this podcast). It is a really cool alternative investment that has an exceptional founder heading it. Anthony spends time on this podcast helping educate you on why you should keep pushing and striving through adversity. Because life will get tough, but look at Anthony he never quit, never stopped, and just continues to ADAPT!
