The Nii Lamptey Show: Recent Episodes

The Nii Lamptey Show

The Nii Lamptey Show is the biggest and best Coventry City podcast around. Launched at the beginning of the 2012/13 season, it follows the musings of Joey, Paul and Neil, each with their own unique take on the gritty world of being a Sky Blues supporter.

Hello you lovely winners!

This is a bit of alright isn't it? Cov won everything they needed to win, we got to have an endless stream of celebrations, and now we've been able to spend the last month relaxed while everyone else gets their knickers in a twist about binoculars and stuff. We'll look back at this period as the summer of our dreams, I'm sure of it.

Anyway! To wrap up the season the big bad Lampteys got together last week(ish) to chat about the celebration period we've just had, from trophy lifts and Ellis Simms hat-tricks, to party buses and CARL gobbling all the awards.

We love it all. All excellent. Not negative. And if we are, that's just our way for a bit of a laugh sometimes. We love Coventry City Football Club (Company number 07612487) loads and loads! HONEST GUV.

That's right, we ruddy well did it. We're back!

Not the podcast btw. We were never away. Don't know what you're talking about.

But Cov! We're back in the big time. Promotion winners. Campeones! Premier Leaguers for the first time in 25 years (I'm led to believe).

The Lampteys revel in this moment and contemplate what it means. As you'd expect.

But seriously.

What a joy.

Oh lovely. What a difference a month makes.

On 31 January some of the Lampteys were a little bit frit shit.

Turns out, February had other ideas. Lots of wins, lots of points, and lots of confidence in our collective pockets.

We return to ruminate on this.

Hey there sports fans. This lot are back.

Cov are top. That much is wicked. But we're all friends here. We can talk about our fears right?

And some of the Lampteys have those fears. Not all of them. But we should be free to mention them. Because that's what friends do.

You may listen to us do so.

Deary me, what a whirlwind of a fortnight.

Not content with scoring a million away at Derby, we've only gone and scored a million against QPR, as well as buying a bloody stadium.

Yes, we have since lost to Millwall, but the Carabao Cup was not made for us, so we shan't dwell on that.

Settle back for your second Lamptey of the season with regulars Joey, Neil, Imogen and Dom.

Hello good people.

We recorded a podcast last week. It was a day or two after the rawness of the Sunderland defeat, and that is reflected in the variety of thoughts that you will hear in this episode. It's hard to know quite what emotion to feel when you miss out on the playoff final in that fashion, so the Niis had a go at feeling most of them.

It's been an absolute pleasure to serve you for a 13th consecutive season, and we shall be back again next year for more Cov chit chat.

Joey has done something different and has got together with Graham from the What The Fauk Sunderland Podcast to talk specifically about the big fixture: Coventry vs Sunderland.

So if you want to hear a little bit more about the upcoming playoffs but in conversation with somebody who has a different accent to what you're used to, this is the podcast episode for you.

All the best.

We are Coventry City - Championship playoff contenders. Again.

What were you worried about?

Joey, Neil and Dom saw us beat Boro and make the playoffs. In this podcast episode they discuss very specific elements of that match, and maybe, if you're lucky, the upcoming game against Sunderland.

GO FOOTBALL!

We have completed the Easter period and remain, somewhat inexplicably, in as strong a position as we started. 6th place, 3 points clear, with our destiny very much in our own hands.

This merry bunch of sods will talk you through things, and also the general contempt towards the quality of the league this season. Sure, there's some questioning about "how good are we?" but also some "please just get us to the play-offs, we want another adventure".

It's Joey, Neil, Dom and Gav for this one. We asked Paul but he blamed a crossbar for impairing his view at Plymouth, and thus, was unavailable to talk about it.

Hallo. Neil here. I'm not on this week's podcast and yet I demanded full responsibility for uploading it. I'm currently swigging a Friday afternoon pint in a place that's too noisy, so have no idea what the episode is about, but all I know is that it's going to be a national sensation. That's the vibe I get. The good news is we just lost a game for the first time in ages so that always makes for thoughtful discussion. You go ahead and enjoy. I dare ya.

Welcome back to our podcast. Cov just can't stop winning and your Niis just can't stop acknowledging it (except for the last 3 weeks when we haven't podcasted).

This week we talk about all the good things that have happened, and all of the good haircuts in the current squad.

We also explore the complexities of disagreeing with others around you at football, and not losing your shit when somebody tells you to stop being so loud.

If that's not enough, we also talk about Coventry City IN FULL.

Please note: We have strong love feelings for all the Cov players and many humans in general. While we make a few jokes about haircuts and such like, there's often nothing vicious about it.

Leeds = bad. Blackburn = loads better.

It's been a wonky old fortnight. We lost some games and a few people started to worry. Unfortunately, some of those worriers were also the current set of players and that included a dreadful performance against Leeds.

However, at the point when everyone thought we were bound for the Championship rubbish bin, we turned up again and beat one of the only unbeaten teams in the league, and did so fairly convincingly.

The Niis investigate how this could possible happen.

August was broadly rubbish. The Niis are aware of this.

However, we now have some flat grass to play on and the transfer window has finally SLAMMED SHUT... and we didn't lose any of the fancy players we thought we might.

Although we did lose lovely Dominic Hyam, who actually was one of the fancy players (even if he and many other people didn't realise it). That is ever such a shame. Stupid energy bills.

So, after a few games and an equal amount of losses, things aren't quite perfect. Let's break things down for you.

Well, after a lot of waiting and a lot of mulling things over, everyone decided what we already knew: Coventry City were the best team in League One this season and were going to win the league anyway... so they might as well just make us bloody champions. Good call. It wasn't how we'd have liked, but by gosh, we are going to mark the occasion with a celebratory pod.

Wacky circumstances call for wacky responses, so the Niis have gone with a mad five-man line up to wrap up the campaign. Joey, Paul, Neil, Laurie and Dom all join the panel to give one big hip-hip hooray for the League One champs, and run through some awards for the season.

Thanks for all your loveliness this year. We hope you enjoy this farewell to League One as much as we did!

Yes, that's right - as a special treat we are delighted to bring you a Nii Lamptey Show exclusive podcast, as young superstar Tom Bayliss joins the boys in the "studio" to reminisce about all the lovely times we had together.

  • What makes the Sky Blues Academy so great

  • His rise into the first team

  • Those play-offs and Wembley

  • THAT photo Kevin Nolan

  • Playing with Michael Doyle

  • The best player he's ever played with at Cov

  • His new life at Preston and his goals for this season and beyond

It was a real privilege being able to join Tom for an hour to chat about the good times, and we'd like to thank him for taking the time to indulge us and give such a brilliant insight into his time at the club. We wish him every success for the future - we know he'll make it to the very top!

Cov fan, author, and all round top fella Steve Phelps joined us this week to complete a Sky Blue book double feature.

In his second Pod appearance Steve regaled us with the magic of Peter Bodak and what it took to tell a tale that, whilst less well known than the '87 cup win, is still an incredible story of a remarkably talented young Cov team.

Steve and last week's guest Jim Brown will be at Waterstones in Coventry on Wednesday December 13th to sign copies of their respective books with ex-Cov players in tow. If you're in the local area you'd be a fool to miss out.

If you're not in the local area, get yourself a copy of Steve's book 29 Minutes from Wembley and Jim's book Play Up Sky Blues: Coventry City's Rise to the Top

And whether you are in the local area or not, get yourself a rootin' tootin' Nii Lamptey Show tshirt. Remember, any small amount earned from these tshirts just goes towards the cost of hosting this podcast and is super appreciated.

Fare thee well and see you at the Ricoh for the Cheltenham game.

Neil is in the hot seat this week to talk about Yeovil and Shrewsbury, watched respectively through technology and eyes, and we talk about the Duck (obvs) New Tony (obvs) and Transfer Deadline Day.

Warning - watch out for the best player name conflagration in the history of the podcast.

View Details

Normal service is resumed as the Nii's get their teeth into the first league defeat of the season and an incredibly frustrating 90 minutes

They try not to judge players too quickly (but do) try not to bang on about the Duck too much (but do) and try not to want to Carl Baker back (but do) but despite these failures the pod (as usual) is a massive bloody success

Last week's extended audio suicide note was so enjoyable that we thought we'd do it again.

Neil is back in hizouse talking Rochdale but he can't lift the gloom as he bemoans the inexorable decline of the last few months.

With Laurie presumably having thrown himself off a cliff, under a bus and into a bath tub (while holding a plugged in toaster) we drafted in friend of the pod and the only non original Nii to have appeared in all four seasons of the pod (probably) CJ Joiner to talk about the Shrewsbury game.

Off the field James Maddison's tweet is given the short amount of air time such a non entity of a story deserves and the Niis talk about the reasons for our current malaise, what (if anything can be done) and fan reactions.  None of it makes for happy listening

Howdy y'all

Sorry we left you for so long but we're back.  The Nii's should be well rested but Joey is noticeably tired and brain dead this week and this has resulted in this entry being short and the pod going out unedited.  That potentially sounds exciting like you'll get to see behind the curtain but instead you'll just hear Joey fucking up links more than usual and a live discussion about moving Only Covvect to next week

Still it's good to be back.  It'll be a bit better next week.  Probably...

Hey hey hey,

Two games, one Cole, no goals; it's this week's Nii Lamptey Show!  We try not to get too carried away with the Cole signing although it's very much a case of getting back to the stable with your horse pretty much out of sight.  We find it pretty easy to not get carried away with two, admittedly very different, 0-0 draws and as usual we cut right through both of them with our laser sharp analysis laser.

Joey actually had time and tried to do a proper Swindon preview.  This is the best he could do...  God help us.

Oooh, FBAs!  You've got 'til 31st October to vote and then I'll stop bugging you.  Vote via Twitter (see @NiiLampteyShow for details) and/or go to www.footballbloggingawards.co.uk to register your vote.  Get your friend to vote.  Get your dog to vote.  Just bloody vote.  Oh and thanks very much if you already did.

Little note that we only get a certain amount of storage space where we host the podcast and October seems to have been a busy month.  That means that this pod and next week's pod will be a little bit lower quality.  Hopefully it doesn't ruin your listening experience.

Final word, just an early heads up that we'll be having a week (or so) off at the start of November.  Deal with it.  All this vote begging has made us tired and we need some winter Sun.  We'll be back next week though for some tip top Swindon reviewing action.  Cheerio

First off... THANK YOU!!! Your kind voting has got us to the finals of the Football Blogging Awards in the 'best podcast' category (we narrowly missed out on 'massive-ist legends' and 'naughtiest banter' but we've demanded a re-count of the votes).

You might think that's it but you'd be WRONG!!! We need your votes again people.

You can click this link to vote via Twitter (it creates a tweet for you and takes roughly two seconds) OR you can head to www.footballbloggingawards.co.uk

We're delighted to have made it to the final (especially as it's in Manchester and for two of us we can roll out of bed and into the venue), but also because it's nice to get recognised, innit?

Anyway, enough of that, there's another home win to dissect and on the whole we were pretty pleased. We over-analyse the culture of over-analysing the specific locations of strikers, give our weekly show of love to big Réda, and big up Aaron Martin.

Looking ahead we do a wee bit of Yeovil and Fleetwood preview that is somehow marginalised by extended discussion about Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool, and we open up Paul's brain in another addition of Paul's hit game 'listen to these stats I've researched this week'.

WARNING: Contains talk of a certain manager taking over at Fleetwood who has since been confirmed as their manager.  Although it was time for us to part SP, there's not a day goes by where I don't think about your cardigan/brown shoe combo xxx

Another week, another win.  Being awful is so 1988 to May 2015...

As usual time is spent fawning over Romain Vincelot and (despite his injury, nothing can stop us) James Maddison whilst Marc Antoine Fortune inspires what no-one is calling a 'Classic Knowlian Rant'

Warning:  Contains more begging for votes.  Speaking of which, please head to www.footballbloggingawards.co.uk to vote for us as best football Podcast at the 2015 FBas and for Neil's www.skybluesblog.co.uk as best club blog in the very same awards.  If you're a twitterer then head to @niilampteyshow and @skybluesblog for details of how to vote on there too. Fresh off the back of our unanimous (and now somewhat hubristic) prediction of a comfortable 3-0 win over Scunthorpe last Saturday the Niis pick the bones out of a boring 1-0 defeat.

Paul's got some super hot Only Covvect questions for us and Neil does the preview which means it's not just plagarised.

Finally, please, please vote for us to win the best Podcast award at the Football Blogging Awards.  We give you all these hours of laser sharp insight and very rarely ask for anything in return.  It would really mean a lot to us if you'd take a minute to vote for us.

The quickest way is to head to twitter.com/niilampteyshow and click the link that populates a tweet for you.  You can also vote via the FBA website www.footballbloggingawards.co.uk. Paul loosely describes a website he doesn't know the name of, Joey makes AWFUL puns about a singer he doesn't know in lieu of any real analysis and special guest Liam Sutcliffe (@LiamDSutty) attempts to make some sense of a surprise win at Walsall

Contains 100% less Neil than normal

View Details

This week: Another solid away victory. The Niis are back. Nice.

Contains some words on immediately obsolete player names on shirts, and immediately empty club shops.

View Details

This week: It's been an award-winning week for one of the Niis. Naturally, the team couldn't be bothered to follow suit.

Contains some detail on Steven Pressley's time with us to date.

View Details

This week: Football Manager 2015 has just come out as I am uploading this podcast. I may be distracted as I'm writing this, but rest assured the pod is ruddy brilliant.

Contains a fairly relaxed attitude to a 2-2 draw against Leyton Orient.

View Details

This week: The Niis are rubbing their thighs about the Peterborough comeback, and in particular Mr Nouble's influence over things.

Contains varied pronunciations of his name during the same sentence.

View Details

This week: Lamptey cross. Lamptey sad. Lamptey don't know how things got so bad.

Contains another attempt to debunk football. It's not for debunking.

View Details

This week: The Niis are joyous because they've been nominated for an award, but cross because Coventry City are still shit.

Contains the first mention of Adam Barton since 'Nam.

View Details

This week: The stadium that was built for Coventry City Football Club has for the most part been sold to a London Rugby Club, instantly usurping our city's own valued Rugby club, while permanently redefining the heart of Wasps for their fanbase and its London core.

As supporters of a club that still has the spectre of permanent relocation looming over it, the Niis sympathise hugely.

Contains everything you would expect from a podcast following the sale of your home stadium to a London Rugby team.

View Details

This week: The Not Suitable For Anything performance against Preston gets a pummelling.

Contains some thoughts about £4.50 beers.

View Details

This week: The Lamptey reassembly is complete. Newlywed Joey returns to the Nii line up and joins in the dissection of a fairly abject week of results.

Contains rude words for the owners of a certain Rugby club.

View Details

This week: The Lamptey saviour squad come through for you, what with Crone and Allison off galavanting.

Reda gets a bit of a telling off.

Contains a hiss. Soz.

View Details

This week: It's been a huge week for City fans. We're home, and the Niis are delirious. Joey is off being married, but fear not - podcast regular Andy Powell not only joins the crew, but anchors the good ship Lamptey in marvellous fashion.

Contains some very tricky Only Covect questions. Good luck.

View Details

This week: It's season ticket central as the Niis prepare for life as proper football fans again.

Settled down for an ultra pithy 44 minutes of podcast gold. Joey switches mics part way through and the sound quality improves exponentially.

Contains facts.

View Details

This week: You know exactly what. We're home!

The excitement is definitely too much for the Niis as they attempt to cram a weekly podcast and all the hoopla about the Ricoh return into a single episode.

This is bumper. So maybe break it up with a cup of tea, trip to the loo, or a jigsaw puzzle.

Contains DELIGHT.

View Details

This week: There's been a game, a new formation and another stunning edition of Only Covect.

Go on, treat yourselves.

Contains no mid-pod pen acquisition.

View Details

This week: All new Lamptey for the new season. New players, new games, same old opinions.

Contains fat jokes.

View Details

This week: The Lampteys close the season with an obligatory round up of everything that's gone on.

Contains a final farewell to Franck Moussa.

View Details

This week: The Niis meander to the end of the season in spectacular fashion.

Contains very little detail about the Wolves game. It's still great though.

View Details

This week: It's the final stretch and the Niis summon their powers of keenness to bring you another episode of Coventry City chatter.

Includes some thoughts as to just how much of a git Leon Clarke's going to be this weekend.

View Details

This week: All sorts has been going on with our club. The Niis discuss it. The government suggests you stay indoors and listen to what they have to say.

Contains sharp intakes of breath.

View Details

This week: The Niis discuss a defeat and a victory, and the peculiarities of having a player who believes in the Illuminati.

Contains a slightly robotic Paul sounding voice - don't worry about it.

View Details

This week: The Ole Gunnar Solksjaer of the podcasting world does it again - Andy Powell steps in at the last minute to win the Champions League for Manchester United. Or just perform admirably for the Nii Lamptey Show podcast while Neil is unavailable. The boys chat Callum Wilson, Chuba Akpom, weird adverts and Jordan Clarke's return to centre back.

Contains bold predictions.

View Details

This week: The Niis spend time recognising a swift resurgence in confidence and results by the team, whilst also enjoying Joe Murphy's arms, legs, face and gob.

Contains some confusion over a spider baby.

View Details

This week: After another defeat you could forgive the Niis for going barmy. That doesn't appear to have happened however, and the Tranmere defeat gets a thorough, yet pragmatic going-over.

Contains slightly less Wogan-esque sound quality than usual. Blame anything but us.

View Details

This week: The Sky Blues have lost again, ergo - the Niis must investigate. Needless to say they each hold different views on pretty much every possible aspect of what has caused the blip, and how significant it may be.

Contains very little actual Denzel Slager.

View Details

This week: In keeping with the match on Saturday where absolutely nothing good happened on the pitch, there is also nothing good about this description. The Niis temporarily discard their natural chirpiness to give the players a ruddy good going over.

Well, not really - but they're not keen on losing like that.

Contains a podcast.

View Details

This week: The Niis indulge in a late night foursome as special guest Andy Powell joins the fun to explain just how much rain there was at Bristol. You'll also find some discussion about the new faces to join (and swiftly bugger off from) the club over the last 7 days, as well as plenty of issues attempting to pronounce some of their unconventional names. Consensus was achieved in the end though. It's "Mark Marshall".

Contains a full 45 minutes of content.

View Details

This week: There's just not enough time to discuss everything, but the Niis give it a bloody good go. Andy Powell joins in to feedback from the SCG, while Franck Moussa receives the plaudits.

Contains absolutely zero threats.

View Details

This week: The dream team re-assemble to bring you your weekly dose of Coventry City waffle. Includes awful research and obligatory round-tabling about a week's worth of Sisu/Council nonsense.

Contains quite a few messages to Leon Clarke.

View Details

This week: While Neil's off ensuring the Sky Blues are fantastic for the next update of Football Manager, the Niis discuss yet another terrific victory against Barnsley, take a trip down managerial memory lane, and will have you screaming the answer of Going for Gould at your phone while you listen to this on the bus.

Contains a mention of Mathieu Manset almost as brief as his stay.

View Details

This week: Welcome to 2014 you sweethearts! The Niis are back with a bumper New Year special, packed with words and assessment of the christmas period, ranging from Carl Baker's acrobatics and goals from the half-way line, to Leon Clarke speaking his mind and dressing up like Mr Plow (Credit to Ed. Sick reference.)

Contains a seemless guest appearance from podcast newboy Jon Spencer.

View Details

This week: The Niis build up to the Christmas period in ponderous fashion, questioning every aspect of football and making an absolute mockery of answering things in a straightforward manner. All apart from the Crewe review, which is spectacular in its succinctness.

Contains a festive Going for Gould which contains just one festive clue. And yet it's still BRILLIANT.

View Details

This week: Fresh from a reinvigorating victory over MK Dons, the Niis reconvene to celebrate this return to winning ways.

Contains tongue-in-cheek tellings off and off-stage whispering. Take some of it seriously. Not all of it. Why would you?

View Details

This week: The goal difference has been obliterated and it's time for the Niis to investigate. Were we really that bad this week? Is it always Jordan Clarke's fault by default? Is Baker living up to his billing? Will the new guys stroll right into the team and fix it?

Contains old-fashioned haircut discussion. And a reference to everyone's favourite ginger idiot.

View Details

This week: It's 50-up for the Lamptey boys, and they celebrate in the only way they know how; with absolutely no mention of the special occasion. Following Joey's meeting with the main men at the Council, it includes a special guest appearance from his partner in crime for that discussion - Andy Powell.

Contains plenty of chit-chat about what happened against Bradford too.

View Details

This week: The Niis are back, and they're back fighting. Who cares about technology when the team's keeping everyone keen with their winning ways; Conor Thomas has signed a new contract; and the opportunity to watch Roy Keane's infamous Ireland rant is presenting itself on a daily basis.

Contains a masterclass in comedy timing.

View Details

This week: Technical issues still haunt the Niis on this Halloween show, but no such issues are impacting our well-oiled football team, and that's all that really matters. Just 5 points off the play-offs, the chaps discuss the rugged victory over Walsall while fielding some thought-provoking questions.

Contains more John Fleck praise. We can't help it.

View Details

Bloody Hell! The Niis fight through a bizarre and unusual set of unrelenting technical difficulties and as a result bring you a somewhat disjointed podcast.  Oh well.  Special guest Liam Sutcliffe joins us to rip through the Wolves game and Knowler eventually tells you about Jordan Clarke's confidence after technical hitches cause him start the story about five times.  Oh and we talk a little bit about beating a certain overachieving unbeaten team...

Contains a few sets of words that Joey had to drop in afterwards, see if you can spot them(!)

View Details

This week: The Niis are feeling refreshed following a short break to bask in the success of the previous episode. In an unprecedented twist, each member of the panel was actually able to watch the Sheffield Utd game (in some fashion), so the focus takes a welcome detour back to the world of football. Turns out, that can be quite fun.

Contains an unexplained disappearing act.

View Details

This week: It's the one you've been waiting for - Joey's only gone and met with Joy Seppala and Tim Fisher. Here he gives a full and frank round up of those meetings, as well as providing some crucial insight into the personalities behind the decisions.

Let's not beat around the bush - there's a lot to discuss, so prepare yourself for a sitting or two as the Nii Lamptey Show continues its attempts to navigate such a frustratingly complex and emotive issue.

Don't worry, contains post-Brentford waffle, Going for Gould and all the other fun stuff too.

View Details

This week: The Niis are re-adjusting to life as supporters of a team that can lose. Turns out it's not that difficult. The team is still good, and the guys make sure to acknowledge that point following the weekend's defeat to Pork Vale.

Contains Franck the Tank love.

View Details

This week: Another win, another milestone reached, another reason to believe this team has what it takes. The Niis dig into the detail of the Gillingham victory, say a hopeful hello to Steven Pressley, and discover they're not the only podcast named after a former Ghanaian starlet.

Contains an attraction towards mellifluous names.

View Details

This week: The Niis once again tackle the recent, relevant and ridiculous issues from the past seven days. You'll find nattering about another great victory, continued discussion about the Northampton situation, and some ultra-complimentary words about Sergeant Pressley and his impressive wardrobe.

Contains Jordan Clarke recognition.

View Details

This week: The Niis attempt to make up for last week by actually recording a show. There's quite a bit to get through, including another mental game at Northampton and a deadline day which kept the crew happy for a range of reasons.

Contains tasty descriptions of John Fleck's passing.

View Details

This week: The Niis are delighted to have the resurgent Trampbeater on the show to share his feelings about a wonderfully rampant victory over Carlisle. For the purposes of the tape, we will be calling him Shaun. There's loads of talk about these brilliant kids of ours, a little bit about Andy Thorn's search for a job, and a short period of obligatory swooning over Mr Pressley.

Contains a potentially ruinous use of statistics.

View Details

This week: Fresh from the most exciting game of all time, two of the Niis are delighted with the players and manager's response to a difficult situation. The other is upset he's having to miss such exciting games, but is still keen on his team scoring five.

Contains an unusual amount of positivity given the predicament we find ourselves.

Neil also has to use the rickety microphone. Apols for that.

View Details

This week: The Lamptey team for 2013/14 are back. Joey, Neil and Paul look over the opening week's football, Carl Baker's fan control, and once again discuss the burning issue of Northampton.

Contains balance and fairness. It really does.

View Details

The newly liquidated Nii Lamptey Show makes a poor start to the season with certain key members of the squad unavailable (Neil is on holiday) and some left to look for another club (Ed has decided that the rock and roll lifestyle that comes with being a niche football podcaster isn't for him and has stepped away for the time being)  Still they soldier on with just Paul and Joey for this week as they attempt to break the world record for talking without providing any insight on everything from liquidation to their reasons for being 'scabs'.

It'll be better when Neil's back and the season's started... Honest.

View Details

This week: The Niis assemble for one final assignment before sodding off on their summer break. In this bumper edition pod they relive the best and worst from the Sky Blues' recent League One campaign - remembering the anticipation, despair and fleeting euphoria from an eventful and topsy-turvy season.

Contains an array of podcast-related stats compiled by superfan - Joey's mum.

View Details

This week: It's the penultimate Lamptey of the season and Ed does a fantastic job (even if he says so himself) in eloquently drawing the curtains on the match reports for the campaign. We're also delighted to invite Katy Fancourt from the CCFC ladies team into the house of Nii for a chat about how things are going for them.

Contains Aaron Martin ambivalence. We'd listen right to the very end if we were you.

View Details

This week: Neil's not around, but the other Niis have a bloody good time reminiscing about things not going that well. Expect some Simpsons character comparisons, a little research from the Knowles Social Analysis team, and the creation of David Pal.

Includes a dissection of our defensive frailties, and a hefty pinch of salt.

View Details

This week: In copycat fashion the Niis have gone with a new-look lineup as Matty Evans is drafted in from the development squad to fill the experienced shoes of Ed and Knowler. Why not join us for some end-of-season japes about a sodden Crawley game, a bit of chit-chat on the progression of Conor Thomas, and a super-tough Going for Gould.

Contains too much Trevor Benjamin.

View Details

This week: The guys regale eachother with tales from what's been a particularly tepid seven days. Expect a Crawley preview which raises more questions than answers, a wild John Fleck/Andrea Pirlo comparison, and a continuing (albeit mild) sense of despair as Richard Wood's reign of menace makes an emphatic return.

Contains sound effects.

View Details

This week: Back come the Niis with an all-action, fist-pumping, bass-beating, stereotype-enhancing, breakdown-inducing look over the horrific ten days that have been inflicted upon the Sky Blue army.

Contains some choice words about Febian Brandy.

View Details

This week: It's a full complement of Lamptey boyz again - hoorah. Main topics consuming the Niis this episode include the treatment of McSheffrey, an improved defensive performance and John Fleck: the running brick wall.

Contains a special guest appearance by Hartlepool's number 8.

View Details

This week: The Niis can't work like this. How are you supposed to prepare a cheeky, jaunty podcast, only for the threat of administration to be dropped minutes before you're about to record? This shit's important - so discuss it, we will. Fortunately you can always rely on outrageous Elvis puns (and Ed being in charge of researching the next game) to lighten the mood.

Contains outrageous Elvis puns, lightening the mood.

View Details

This week: Another home game and another defeat - this time to an impressive Swindon side. The Niis look over some of the more noticeable individual performances, the influence of Carsley's changes, and the growing understanding between Joe Murphy and that 30 year old ballboy.

Contains a chat about Nathan Cameron, don't worry.

View Details

This week: With City continuing to blow hot and cold, the Niis are left to navigate the minefield of emotions that accompanied the Crewe and Bournemouth games. Helping them in their quest is Paul Pritchard who made the trip to the seaside.

Contains dissenting voices about illogical former player hybrids.

View Details

This week: Joey's a poorly pup and the Wembley dream is over (for now), but there ain't no stopping these Niis. The show must go on. Let the JPT dissection commence.

Contains completely made up rumours about Czech managers. and some Dan.

View Details

It's pretty much about Mark Robins buggering off and what the Niis think about it.

Contains dramatic music.

View Details

This week: Little Eddie W is absent from duty, but there's no stopping the Lamptey express. It's been a rotten 7 days, and while Robins vented his frustration after the defeat to Yeovil, this has certainly split the crew.

Contains an unnerving lack of Richard Wood.

View Details

This week: It's the day after the night before, and the Niis aren't feeling too good. Can they find a way of rationalising what happened? Is the JPT dream completely over? Will Ed ruin Going for Gould again? There's only one way to find out - by treating yourself to another little slice of Lamptey goodness.

It'll make you feel better, honest.

Contains straw clutching.

View Details

This week: It's nearly February, and the Niis are beginning to dream. Next up sees a Friday night match up against fellow play-off hopefuls Sheffield Utd, followed by the big one - a sell out tie against Crewe in the JPT. The crystal balls and calculators are out in force as they attempt to figure out just how things might turn out.

Contains yet more incorrect mathematics.

View Details

This week: There are two wins for the podders to swoon over, as well as a timely re-assessment of our centre back pairing, and the function of John Fleck in the squad.

Contains confectionery snobbery.

View Details

This week: The Niis reconvene to balance their glee from the Preston game against the frustration of Carlisle. Knowl brings the Knowl-edge. Joey brings the BANTZ. Ed brings the thesaurus. Neil brings the loins.

Contains jip.

View Details

This week: Cup fever has hit Lamptey Towers and the boys are looking back at the lessons from Spurs, but more keenly towards potentially the biggest game of the season so far; Thursday's JPT clash with Preston. Billy Edge's new attire has also caught their attention, and Neil has trouble with his left and right.

Contains plenty of myths getting Crone-busted.

View Details

This week: The Niis are all Quality Streeted out and return to ponder the work of the team over Christmas. They also try tremendously hard to get excited about the forthcoming trip to Spurs.

Contains nuts.

View Details

This week: It's the final Lamptey show before the Christmas period and the Niis are in jovial mood. Ed's otherwise engaged (we think he's a mate of Santa), but this doesn't stop the festive cheer following a phenomenal 4-1 win over Doncaster. The guys also take the chance to review the first half of what's been a topsy turvy campaign thus far.

Contains serious predictions.

View Details

This week: Behold - a keen bunch of Niis, talking about the destruction of Walsall, the McSheffrey revival and an emotional farewell to Kevin Kilbane.

Contains a bit of mucky language. Not too much. Don't worry yourselves. It's fine. Swear down.

View Details

This week: Everyone was so happy after the cup wins, but you just knew it couldn't last. The Niis desperately try to keep upbeat though, and there's still a lot of joy about the penalty redemption against Sheffield Utd. But obviously with the latest statements from ACL and the club, there's some important stuff to talk about.

Contains financial natterings.

View Details

This week: Things return to regularity as the four Niis discuss the frustration of not beating Portsmouth, the importance of the upcoming cup games, and scary Ernie Wise.

Contains an all-too-detailed description of that back-pass.

View Details

This week: The Sky Blues have won two on the bounce and everyone's over the moon (even more so than usual). To help discuss these wins, the Niis have recruited some special guests who made the admirable trek to Hartlepool and Colchester, respectively.

Contains the occasional Dalek sound. Do not be alarmed.

View Details

This week: It's a party atmosphere in the house of Lamptey as the boys learn about Ratner Effect and Baker uneffect. We talk about the merits of Joe Murphy and his 60 yard conversations, and Richard Wood drops by. Unconvincingly. Several times.

WARNING: Contains 0% actual Richard Wood.

View Details

This week: The Lamptinhos describe the kit from the '92 season in some detail, evaluate Fleck's contribution so far and look at everyone else's refusal to pass to Roy O'Donovan.

Contains positive football chat.

View Details

This week: Unfortunately Neil's annihilated with illness, so US Matt has come in at short notice to offer his thoughts on the Leyton Orient victory. The Niis also ponder the horridness of football in general right now, and whether they give any sort of monkeys about the Premier League.

Contains a cheeky American twang.

View Details

This week: The Lamptey boys are upset. Things aren't going quite to plan with the Robins revolution, and while David McGoldrick continues to keep Ed aroused, the Sky Blues have fallen back into their losing ways and are playing atrociously.

Contains crossness.

View Details

This week: It's the triumphant return of Little Eddie W, and the Niis have ever such a lot to catch up on. Richard Shaw's been given the boot, Chris Hussey's actually scored a goal, and Joey's been told off on local radio.

Contains the numbers 7, 8 and 9.

View Details

This week: Little Eddie W's meeting with the Pope has overrun, so the three Niis continue to hold the fort. It's been a while since the previous show, so there's a bit to cover, including Cody's phantom "goal", despicable first halves and the illusion of Carl Baker.

Contains Callum Ball tongue-twisters.

View Details

This week: Little Eddie W has gone in search of his hero Gino Ginelli, leaving the remaining Niis to mope over an interesting but mostly rotten 10 days, including a right old duffing up at Arsenal.

Contains a distinct lack of enthusiasm towards heavy defeats.

View Details

This week: The house of Nii is excited. The final managerial interviews are afoot, and this can mean only one thing. Richard Shaw's temporary reign is coming to an end (unless Andy Turner is to believed, which he is not). Here, they run the rule over the supposed candidates.

Contains Barry banter.

View Details

This week: It's a full quota of Lamptey boys to discuss the impending managerial appointment, David McGoldrick's World Player of the Year odds and Adam Barton's inherent softness.

Contains the hardest ever Going for Gould.

View Details

This week: Knowler's otherwise engaged, but being the consummate pros they are, the three other Niis truck on regardless, desperately plucking out moments of note from the abominable Burton game.

Contains colourful language and impromptu jingles.

View Details

This week: Still high from Billy Edge's debut against Birmingham, the boys are left to bask in the glory of the League Cup without Knowler. Expect plenty of Carl Baker and even more inane word play.
