The Depth & Candor podcast explores how change-makers of color define and live out their purpose through their careers, side hustles, and entrepreneurial contributions. One of the biggest threats to a dominant white supremacist culture is Black ppl living their most joyful self-sufficient lives. So how do we pursue joy when there are Black people getting murdered everyday? Or when we are repeatedly reminded that so many of the policies surrounding us are not set up for us people to thrive? In this episode, we explore what tool one woman uses to rise above the BS.

When Girmay first told me about his plan to run for office in Seattle, I remember asking him why. I quickly learned that Girmay’s motives were deeply rooted in wanting to improve the lives of people in his community because he grew up in less than ideal circumstances in Seattle. Girmay’s hope is that he can promote equity, increase innovation, and increase political access for all.
You will love this episode if you care at all about getting more young, smart, people of color in office, if you yourself want to run for office, or if you want to be more civically engaged even if you never want to be involved in politics.

So I’m recording and publishing my list of things I’m afraid to tell you because I want to leave these fears in 2017 and enter 2018 with an open and honest heart.
