This episode of the Dudes and Dads Podcast features a conversation with Clarke Kaufman, owner, founder, and principal of Avad Chiropractic and Wellness, which is also a show sponsor. In this episode, Clarke discusses:
• His personal journey into chiropractic medicine, including his background in sports and how tearing his ACL led him to consider chiropractic care as an alternative to physical therapy. He also shares why he chose chiropractic, driven by an entrepreneurial desire to own his own practice.
• A holistic view of wellness, emphasizing that it encompasses spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical aspects, which he believes cannot be separated.
• Key wellness recommendations, highlighting the importance of quality sleep (aiming for 8 hours in a quiet, cool place) as the number one priority, and advocating for movement and exercise (like walking) for spinal health.
• The significance of testing for deficiencies (e.g., hormones, vitamins, minerals) before taking supplements to ensure effectiveness and avoid wasting money. Avad Chiropractic and Wellness sells quality, third-party tested supplements.
• His approach to building rapport with patients, stressing the importance of trust and acting as a “good detective” to find the root cause of pain, including referring out when pain might indicate more serious issues like organ problems or cancer.
• The goals of chiropractic medicine, which he describes as balancing homeostasis, reducing pain by addressing inflammation, and improving joint motion, rather than simply “cracking” backs.
• The future vision for Avad Chiropractic and Wellness is to be a comprehensive wellness center where all needs can be met under one roof, with a focus on adding more skilled people to help more lives.
The hosts also reminisce about the podcast’s beginnings in Clarke’s office and conclude with a fun pop quiz, revealing Clarke’s preferences, including his love for YouTube, the “old Big 10” basketball, his Louisville ACC fandom, and his preference for Vermont as a place to live outside Indiana.

On this episode of the Dudes and Dads podcast, the we explore the idea of a “’90s summer”. Joel shares his plan for a “hard reset” for his family, specifically during June and July, which involves removing video games and drastically reducing phone and screen time for his kids. This intentional effort aims to foster relational connection, encourage kids to be outdoors and engaged in unstructured activities like those from the ’90s, and counter concerns about excessive screen time and social isolation. We contrast this with modern anxieties about safety versus the perceived freedom of a ’90s childhood. Andy shares his approach, focusing on encouraging activities rather than removing devices, considering his family’s current life rhythms and his older son’s graduation and job. We invite listeners to share their own experiences and ideas for ’90s-style summer activities via email or voicemail.

Two years ago, Jake joined us to talk about the Into the Light documentary, a powerful film that helps those struggling with pornography find freedom in Christ.
Now, Into the Light is releasing new resources designed to help parents protect their kids and start conversations about God’s design for sexuality.
Jake explains the two main resources: a nine-part master class series called Parenting and Pornography, Roadmaps to Raising Children of Integrity and a practical tutorial series to help parents make the devices in their home safe.
He shares insights on how to think about technology theologically and practically and discusses why these conversations are so important in today’s hypersexualized culture.
If you are a parent who feels overwhelmed by the digital world and wants to protect your children from the dangers of pornography, this episode is for you!
