Monica Leed and I chat in this episode (a re-release because it was SO good).
Monica has a design background in the fast-paced film industry. She spent over ten years cultivating curiosity in the art of efficient space design, time management, and the power of organizational systems. Then in 2011, life threw her an unexpected curveball that reminded her that a demanding career without a balanced home life will leave you feeling stuck and uninspired.
I loved hearing more of her story, how she discovered how to bring her life into a better balance, and why she wrote her book Simply Spaced. Monica is the CEO and Owner of her brand and company Simply Spaced.
Thank you for listening and subscribing, I hope you were inspired by Monica’s story today. For all the show notes + links click below on the "episode webpage."

The only way to get organized and stay organized is to commit to the reset! What's a reset? It's when you take the extra minute(s) to put things back and keep things in place. It is critical to practice resetting. When you get home from shopping allow time to reset. When you move from room to room, put things away where they go. A system will only stay maintained if it its maintained (see what I did there?). For all the show notes + links click below on the "episode webpage."
Sarah Bragg (Podcaster, Author, Communicator) hops on the podcast today to chat all about her new book, Is Everyone Happier Than Me? Sarah is an amazing communicator! She encourages you to sit where you are and ask yourself the tough questions. I SO appreciate her authenticity and curiosity.

In today’s episode I share all about what I learned and re-learned in 2023. And how my takeaways from last year have helped me to better redefine what I value and prioritize.
From my reflections and experiences I came up with the principle – Have What You Value & Value What You Have. Isn’t that what it should be all about? But don’t we often value too many different things? Or put our attention and energies towards things that aren’t truly what we cherish and/or value?
I encourage you to do some soul work on this. Ask yourself if your calendar, commitments, and choices truly reflect your highest and most important values? And...if the answer isn’t a resounding YES – make some changes. I did and I know you can too – if you need to. Life is a gift. We need to use our time intentionally and purposefully.
Stay tuned for the next two-part series where I unpack out to organize with your unorganized partner. For all of the show notes + links click below on the "episode webpage."

Getting on my soap box here to tell you what I don't want you doing! I want you to stop being hard on yourself. No more negative self talk. Don't fall into the trap of feeling guilty and ashamed of how and where you are not measuring up. YOU get to decide what your priorities are and what you will or will not prioritize. And I know, this is not necessarily easy to do, but it can be VERY empowering. Take today and the next day and the day after that to focus on what you want to do and what's most important to you (and then let the other stuff go!). This could be stuff stuff or actual commitments or just things you feel obligated to do, but don't really need to be doing. Take back your time and your health and your well being by being razor focused about what you will and will not do. And of course, feel free to delegate, outsource, say no - you get the idea! Thank you for tuning into this seasonal release of the podcast. Please subscribe, review the show, and let me know what else you'd love to hear about. Cheering you on!!! Today's guest is Sarah Otto from Otto Skin Goods. This is a fabulous woman owned company that will change the way you think about skin care. Their three step system is everything your skin needs, in one low-maintenance routine (simplicity for the win!). Tune in to hear from founder Sarah about how she started her company and how you too can streamline your skin care steps! Sarah Otto is a former dermatology nurse practitioner who believes 'less is more' when it comes to your skincare routine. In this last episode I leave you with some encouragement on how to prioritize and plan your time. As we prepare to wrap up another year (a what I think we can all agree on has been a difficult year), it's a great time to assess and reevaluate things. I shared in a recent post, three ways to save time, and in this episode I dive into the topic a bit more. My hope is that in this season you will continue to remain purposeful. Thank you for following along with me and seeking to live a more intentional life. For all of the show notes + links click below on the "episode webpage."
In my new book, Your Hospitality Personality, I shared a story about my dear friend Jamie. It's a story that I've had many comment about, saying that the story really touched them. So, I invited Jamie on to the podcast to talk about the story and also about how to keep hospitality enjoyable and meaningful. Jamie is an Entertainer and an Includer and her ability to love well is something I've personally been blessed by. While we head into the holidays and need to navigate things differently than ever before, never underestimate the power of sensing what people need from you. Your presence (even if from a distance) is needed! For all of the show notes + links click below on the "episode webpage."
With the holidays approaching, I invited the talented Diane Boden aka - The Minimalist Mom to sit down with me and discuss how to be intentional as a parent. Ok, ok...this is exciting news! Neat Method has created a FULL line of amazing organizing products. And the best part is that professional organizers created these items (so they are not only functional but they are also beautiful)!!! I invited Ashley Jones Hatcher from Neat Method to share with me all about this new line and all that Neat Method has to offer. This is a top-notch company that knows what their clients need most! Consider adding some Neat Method products to your holiday wish list. These products will not only organize your home, but they will also help to add a designer look. I personally LOVE the gold magnetic labels...swoon. For all of the show notes + links click below on the "episode webpage."

In today's episode Megan from Campus Quilt and I discuss another great gift idea, a T-shirt Quilt! THIS is the best gift idea for a student who has recently graduated or will graduate soon. It's the perfect way to keep all the memories together in a practical way. For all of the show notes + links click below on the "episode webpage."
This new series of the podcast will be centering around all things “Gift Giving.” In this episode, I welcome Sara Brown founder of Narrative Forth to join me. Sara has created the best keepsake journal for moms. (This would make the best gift!!!) I LOVE this idea and how it simplifies the memory making (and keeping) process. Not only is it absolutely beautiful, it is such a great idea to keep all the important things in one place. The Dear Mom Journal is a perpetual keepsake journal to a mother from her child in lieu of cards for Mother’s Day, birthday or just because. Just imagine years of cards to mom – those baby handprints, toddler scribbles, childhood art masterpieces and teenage letters – bound together in one beautiful place. My guest today is Terrancé Akins. I invited Terrancé to join me and to share his story. I had the pleasure of meeting Terrancé while on a trip to Nashville and our brief encounter impacted me deeply. You will be inspired by his story, his faith, and his desire to mentor others. It was incredibly touching to hear how strangers have showed him love and support. And yet, equally troubling to hear how strangers have not loved him well. Terrance' is passionate about mentoring kids and sharing resources with them. He believes in helping to change the next generation. He is using his own story to help change the stories of others. You can keep up with Terrancé on Facebook (Terrancé Akins) and Instagram and YouTube as "da Mesendja." Hospitality comes in many forms. I want to encourage you to put on your hospitality glasses and to intentionally look for ways to be hospitable. You have many circles and communities around you that need you. Look for more ways to love well. Being a positive person in someone else's life can cause a ripple effect. Be hospitable, be the change, and be the answers to someone's prayers. Counteract the negativity with positivity. Terrance' encourages you to not think that it's too small.Any form of hospitality is a gift. Lastly, my new book, Your Hospitality Personality, is now available. I hope it will encourage and inspire you to reach out to others more. YOU have so many gifts to give away. So, go get courageous and creative! For all of the show notes + links click below on the "episode webpage."

April and Abby have put their hosting skills to work at The Open Door Sisterhood annual retreat. They take on the task of serving all of the meals for four days and they do an amazing job! They are gifted and genuine. You'll love our chat. Please note, due to all the working at home (insert WIFI challenges) some of the sound quality is not as ideal and I apologize. I hope you will still have some great takeaways! And I hope you will check out their Lettuce Wrap Bar in my new book, Your Hospitality Personality. In my new book, Your Hospitality Personality, I didn't have to think twice about who I wanted to dedicate my book to. My beautiful friend, Julie Davis, is the epitome of hospitality. She has a heart of gold, loves big, and truly knows how to make people feel special in her presence. Julie and I discuss how being born and raised in the South taught her certain aspects of hospitality. You'll love her stories and how she encourages us to not "overthink" hospitality. You'll also appreciate hearing that it's OK to keep things simple. Julie's stories will inspire you to host and reach out even more! Thank you for subscribing and listening. (Now go text someone and see if you can find a way to connect.) For all of the show notes + links click below on the "episode webpage."
Kate Merrick and I have a lively conversation about how to bring a lot of fun to your gatherings! Kate's house is somewhat of a hub and she tends to entertain a lot. I think you'll love her emphasis on simplicity and dancing. In my new book, Your Hospitality Personality, she shares how to make a marvelous Platter Party. This theme is so doable and enjoyable. Kate makes entertaining seem easier and you'll love her "one rule." I hope you are inspired to create a fabulous playlist for your next get together and realize that hosting can be FUN. In this episode, I invited my friend Jennie to join me. Jennie and I met when we were both living overseas. In Portugal, Jennie was in full hosting mode, in fact it was her job! She would often entertain up to 6-7 times per month. I like how she touched on hybrid entertaining and how creating a more casual setting helps to increase a sense of connection. We discuss the differences between cultures and how opening up our homes (to other cultures) helps to build bridges. As a trained chef she also shared practical tips for how to host well. The key she says is to offer variety with what you serve. This will help your guests to feel more comfortable. And most importantly she says you need to relax!!! Thank you for subscribing and listening. I hope you enjoyed our chat. For all of the show notes + links click below on the "episode webpage."
As a reminder, each Tuesday in August I'm dropping three new podcast episodes. Each of these episodes will touch on aspects of hospitality. I have invited each of the hosts who contributed themes in my new book. You'll love hearing from them! They are each inspiring hosts and contributed such fun themes. In this episode, I sat down with my dear friend Krista Gilbert. Krista is a hostess with the mostest! She has the great gifts of listening and loving well. In my book, Your Hospitality Personality, she shared a beautiful Greek themed dinner party. Krista expressed how to generously share hospitality and prepare intentionally for your guests, as a way to show how much you care. She also touched on how to ask questions in a meaningful way and how to listen thoughtfully. For all of the show notes + links click below on the "episode webpage."
Within this podcast series I'm doing things a little differently. I'm dropping three episodes each Tuesday, throughout August. Each episode will touch on aspects of hospitality. And the best part (drum roll) is that I've got a fantastic line up of interviews. The interviews are with amazing hosts who I'm grateful to call friends.Today's interview is with my dear friend Julie. We met at the University of Oregon (a few years ago) and we also just spent a few days together camping in southern Utah. Julie is an Includer who loves to host and include others. She believes in the motto, the more the merrier. Her toast bar idea as a theme is genius and guaranteed to be a crowd pleaser! I love Julie's heart for hospitality and that she wants to welcome others in and does so so naturally. I also loved how she shared how we can love on single people in our lives. It's so important to look out for others and to reach out! Let's follow Julie's lead of inviting others often. And who doesn't want to serve up some avocado toast? Did you know that if you pre-order before August 18th, you’ll receive a great bundle of gifts?!? It’s a fabulous set of goodies! This book was SO fun to write and I love how relevant the topic is especially within our current circumstances. While we are being forced to distance physically from one another, I think it’s more important than ever to focus on still socializing. (Yes, it needs to look differently, but it can still be done!) Please note, in this podcast series I’m doing things a little bit differently. I’ll be dropping three episodes each Tuesday, throughout August. Each episode will touch on aspects of hospitality. And the best part (drum roll) is that I’ve got a fantastic line up of interviews. I asked those who contributed a hosting theme in my book (the last chapter of Your Hospitality Personality) to join me and have a casual conversation. You’ll get to hear from each of them personally and then I hope also enjoy using their theme at a future event. Additionally, there will also be a few other interviews sprinkled in and I can’t wait to surprise you with the guests. It’s going to be fun!!! Also make sure to save the date! The next Organizing Challenge will begin 8.10.20. The challenges are always free and really help with motivating you to attack smaller organizing projects. Thank you friend for listening, subscribing, and reviewing the podcast. Your support means the world to me. For all of the show notes + links click below on the "episode webpage."
This is the second of a two-part bonus series. (If you didn't listen to episode 47 be sure to buzz back there first!) In this interview, I continue my conversation with the founders of Bee Organized (Kristen and Lisa) and their Queen Bee franchise owner (Trish). We discuss the need for professional organizing services, both for mental and emotional health benefits. And also how organizing services are growing in both need and demand. For any business owner, I think you'll find this conversation helpful and encouraging. It's amazing what collaboration and community provides. The founders of Bee Organized are passionate about equipping and inspiring professional organizers to thrive as business owners. If you have further questions or want more information, please reach out to Lisa and Kristen. They would love to chat with you! For all of the show notes + links click below on the "episode webpage."
This episode and the following, are a two-part bonus series. I had the joy of interviewing the fabulous founders of Bee Organized, Lisa and Kristen, and their Queen Bee franchise owner, Trish. We not only talk about all things organizing, we also cover the ins and outs of their business model and the opportunities they have for franchising. As a small business owner and a fellow professional organizer, I was very impressed by what they have created and the offerings they provide. This was a wonderful and educational interview. If you are considering starting a professional organizing business I highly recommend you reach out and have a conversation with Lisa and Kristen. They are leaders and cheerleaders! Their tagline is "Simplify Your Hive," something we all desire right? Be sure to buzz over and listen to the second part of this interview - episode #48. Thanks so much for listening! Time management is challenging all the time, but especially right now. I shared some of my thoughts with you on how time and structuring things is more complicated than ever within this pandemic. My suggestions are to focus on being thankful and thoughtful. These two mindsets will help you regardless of the obstacles in your way. Lower the bar where you need to, extend grace (to yourself and others), and focus on living 24 hours at a time. These are all ways to help things feel doable. Also, the next Organizing Challenge starts on 5/11. Find all the info HERE for the free and flexible seasonal challenges. Each day for ten days you are given ideas and prompts for small organizing projects. As a reminder each podcast episode is only around 10-15 minutes long to help compliment the tiny organizing tasks. In other words, plug and play... and then organize away! Remember to subscribe to the podcast and share what you enjoy. I read each and every review and am so thankful for you! In our conversation we talk about how she got started on her own fitness journey and how she continues to prioritize her health and wellness. So, we discuss the importance of setting realistic goals, taking small steps, and finding accountability. Then, also why taking care of your health is so important for all aspects of your health. Welcome back! In this episode, Amy, founder of Planet Renu returns for part two. In our interview we dive into the topics of composting, recycling, dancing (yes!), and juggling/scheduling. Our conversation was encouraging and also convicting. I've yet to reach out to my waste/recycling company, but it is on my list. I'll blame COVID for now but not forever. What are you convicted to do or where would you like to make a change? I'd love to hear? The impact we're having on our planet is real. We all need to make some changes, even if only small. I love the reality that if we all make small changes, we can all make small differences. Let's care for our world, together. Thanks so much for tuning in! And thank you Amy for what you are doing to educate us. WE SO appreciate your efforts! Amy also partnered with The Organizing Box and her beautiful Produce Bags were featured in the Summer Box. We were thrilled to link arms and highlight Planet Renu. Please go support her amazing company and care for your world one small step/change at a time. Thanks for tuning in friends, let's create a ripple effect together. For all of the show notes + links click below on the "episode webpage."
This is part one of a two part interview. I invited Amy, the founder of Planet Renu to join me and share her tips for how to live more sustainable. Amy's company is on a mission "to educate and inspire people to make small changes in their lives and in turn have a large impact on the earth." In our interviews, Amy encourages us on how to go more reusable and make small changes within our day-to-day living. So, our challenge to you is to try taking a to-go cup with you or asking for a ceramic cup next time you go out for coffee or tea. Many places will do this as a way to help minimize waste. (We realize with the COVID outbreak that this may no longer be an alternative. But if/and when it is please consider doing this.) All in all, my takeaway is to look for one small change I can implement each month. Truly small steps can have a big ripple effect. Thank you Amy for sharing so many great tips. Be sure to tune into the following episode where we continue our conversation. For all of the show notes + links click below on the "episode webpage."
On today's episode I invited my dear friend (and fellow Enneagram 3), Sarah Bragg on the show. Also, please note this episode was recorded prior to the COVID pandemic so we had no idea of how this topic of "working from home" would be SO relevant. I hope you will glean some amazing organizing tips from Sarah. She is a scheduling guru and her planning pages are great. As she and I both share, we encourage you to find what works for you! Don't stress about following something that doesn't "fit" for you. Also, her advice of batching items together is huge. This tip alone can be a game changer. Try implementing this and see how it impacts your time and energy. Be sure to follow Sarah on Instagram, she is super fun, real, and authentic - my favorite kind of person to follow on social. I would best describe Sarah as the girl next door and I LOVE how she encourages us moms to take our smoking breaks (if you follow her in insta you'll know what this means!). Thank you from the bottom of my heart for listening and subscribing. Please let me know what you like about the show...I'd love to hear your thoughts in the form of a review (hint, hint). This is a last minute episode that I didn't intend to record but felt prompted to do so. I want to first thank all of you who are on the front lines and serving in some capacity with this virus. Our world has turned upside down and I want to offer my heartfelt appreciation and thanks to each of you for your incredible service. Your sacrifice is greatly noticed and appreciated. Secondly, my heart goes out to each of you in your disappointments. There is so much loss right now. From the big to the small, and it all matters. All of these changes and the lack of control that it brings with it is really hard. There is SO MUCH uncertainty. I encourage us to feel all the feels. The roller coaster of emotions is very real right now and all of it is OK. I personally have had my own share of ups and downs. All of this is new and unknown territory. I recommended an titled "A Message of Hope" (see the link in the show notes). It is very inspiring and provided a lot of hope to me. My encouragement is for us to stay on the path of intentionality. To rise each day and take purposeful steps forward. To follow our daily habits (the daily five), to control what we can control, and to manage our days with flexible routines. If you need to fill some of your time, consider bringing some more order to some of your spaces. This can help with creating more calm. But remember to keep things manageable and doable. The Organizing Challenges can provide great prompts for you if you are looking for some ideas or starting points. Thanks for tuning in and desiring to live your life intentionally. Wishing you and yours all the best in these times of uncertainty. Please let me know if there are specific ways that I can be praying for you. For all of the show notes + links click below on the "episode webpage."
Well it's time to wrap up season six! Thank you for joining with me as we talked about all things organizing and health. I enjoyed each one of my guests so much and also loved diving into each of the aspects of health. In this final episode, I reveal to you that yes, I too struggle with getting things done. Which is why I titled this episode "Do One Thing." Often, this is the hardest thing to do. We can get stuck and keep zig zagging. It's really easy to find ourselves not really making any forward movement! Please know that you are not alone in feeling overwhelmed! The moral of the story (or episode), is that things generally take longer than we usually think they will. So, when we remember this it can help us to better to set us up for success. Take note the Spring Organizing Challenge starts Monday, 2/10!!! Come join the fun! The challenges are free every season and are designed to help you work through 10 mini organizing projects over 10 days. Lastly, today's episode is sponsored by The Wholesome Home. The Wholesome Home provides a complete line of cleaning products with natural and safe ingredients. Streamline and simplify your organizing and cleaning today! We can tend to underestimate the emotional weight of the clutter in our lives and the stress that it adds. And, while we can't avoid clutter and stress, we can work to mange it by staying in our sweet spot or what I like to call the "Goldilocks" feeling. In this episode, I encourage you to identify if you are more logical or emotional by nature and how you can best stay in the healthy middle ground as much as possible. Then I leave you with three tangible tips to help you take action with improving your emotional health, specifically when it pertains to clutter and stuff. Commit to working to apply the three tips into your day-to-day living. Don't underestimate the emotional toll that your stuff and clutter can take on your life! Today's episode is sponsored by Fridge Coaster. Fridge Coaster makes keeping your fridge organized, clean, and tidy - fun! The shelf liners are made with natural wood pulp and recycled material. Suzy shares the mic with me today and she is the perfect person to share all about how to prioritize your physical health. She is an avid runner and is actually featured in the Guinness Book of World Records (you'll have to tune in to hear what for!). Not only is Suzy a mom of four, she also hosts a fabulous podcast called Run Lift Mom. Be sure to go listen and also check out episode 45 when I joined her for an interview. Suzy encouraged me and also helped me to think of motivation in a new way. I think you'll find some great takeaways! Remember to prioritize YOU and your health. Monica Leed joins me today. For all of the show notes + links click below on the "episode webpage."
On this episode, my sweet daughter, Ainsley shared the mic with me. We chatted about how to balance your time and energy with your friends and relationships. Ainsley, at the young age of only 18, is wise beyond her years. She helped to shed some light into what teens are navigating these days, specifically when it comes to technology and accessibility. It's a different culture! And she also shared some great tips on how to use boundaries when necessary. I should mention that I shared that she and I are both 9's on the Enneagram. Well, after recording this episode, I have learned that I'm actually a 3 on the Enneagram. I have some 9 tendencies, but all in all I'm more of a 3. (If you know what I'm referring to this may make some sense, if not just disregard!) Ainsley, however, is still a 9. She is as easy going as they come. Lisa, also known as "Neatfreak McKinney," grew up in beautiful Idaho as the oldest of seven children. Her mom is also a neat freak. (She had to be in order to stay sane in a house with nine people.) So Lisa learned early on that work always comes before play. It was one of the best things her parents ever taught her. She has always loved taking care of, decorating, and organizing her own home. And when her daughter left for college in 2006, she was heartbroken. Her life as she had known it was forever changed. In her sadness, her sweet friends all encouraged her to start her own business, using her gift of home organization. Which is how "Neat Freak" was born! When you tune in to today's episode, you will hear how Lisa developed her professional organizing business, how she recommends prioritizing your time, and (my personal favorite) why unplugging is SO important for our mental health. Lisa is relatable, realistic, and she is also leading the charge with #realorganizersoninstagram - be sure to go follow! Neither Lisa or I would ever want you to think we have it all together (we don't)! We are just like you, working to prioritize and plan our days as effectively as we can, while also navigating all of the endless hurdles along the way. Micah Maddox is a national women’s conference speaker, Bible teacher, blogger, and author of Anchored In: Experience a Power-Full Life in a Problem-Filled World. She is passionate about helping women find purpose, peace, and calm in our chaotic world. As a pastor’s wife, mother of three, and foster mom, she contributes her time to her family and local church serving as a women’s ministry leader. We discuss how to prioritize and protect your spiritual health. I loved her tangible and realistic tips. As a fellow mom, I was SO thankful that she shared the grace we need to give ourselves. As women, we can tend to be so hard on ourselves, trying to keep up with checklists and to-dos rather than on being. I hope you find much freedom in Micah's words and suggestions. And also that you can remember this: practical is much more important than perfection. For all of the show notes + links click below on the "episode webpage."
