Eric O'Grey's story is incredible. In 2010, Eric was 51 years old, was 340 lbs at 5'10, his waist was 52 inches, and he wore a 4XL shirt. He had Type 2 Diabetes, and his total cholesterol was almost 400. He was taking 15 different medications, and was completely miserable with his life and had no hope. In a last attempt to avoid bariatric surgery, he met with a plant-based, naturopathic doctor, who helped him transition to a whole-food, plant-based diet, and also advised him to adopt a dog... And his life would never be the same again. Eric is now 180 lbs, and has reversed his Type 2 Diabetes and other health issues. He recently wrote a book about how going plant-based and adopting his dog, Peety, saved his life, called Walking With Peety, and has been on basically every major news station and talk show talking about it.

Today’s podcast is a special bonus episode. I wanted to add in something extra this week with it being my 100th Episode week. I was thinking about what I could do, and thought it would be a lot of fun to bring in a few other plant-based podcasters in like a rountable setting…super casual, just talking about nutrition, wellness, mindset, whatever comes up. So plant-based podcasters Ian Cramer, from The Ian Cramer Podcast, and Howard Jacobson from The Plant Yourself Podcast, jumped on here last minute with me to record, and it was a lot of fun. We covered a lot about mindset and the effect of physical activity on positivity and focusness, as well as plant-based nutrition, and more. I definitely want to start adding Podcaster Roundtables every other month or so, so be sure to keep me posted what you think!

Stephen Ritz is such an inspiring person. He is full of energy and passion, and has a true love of making a difference in the world. Stephen is a teacher in the Bronx, New York. But, he is unlike any teacher you have probably met before. After accidentally starting a garden in his classroom, his life and the lives of the children in his school, and really his whole community has completely been transformed. Stephen and his students began growing so much food, that they were able to provide food for the entire school. This soon took off, and Stephen and his students started creating gardens all over the Bronx and even supplied students with paying jobs. What Stephen and his community are doing is not only supplying fresh fruit and vegetables where they are currently not available, but also helping these children, who most are extremely low-income, or in group homes, or foster homes, to love being at school and increasing engagement. His class went from 40% attendance to 93% daily.
It's really incredible the impact he is making and people have noticed... Stephen has done several TED Talks, his work has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, Forbes, The Guardian, ABC, CNN, NBC, NPR, and him and his class were even invited to the White House in 2014. And, as awesome as all of that it, by implementing the healthy eating that he has learned about and by growing his own food, Stephen has lost over 100 lbs.
I really can't say enough about Stephen. He is extremely inspiring and his energy and passion is contagious.
