They'll parse out the six plot lines of Cloud Atlas and how they connect to each other, and realize that the single plot of The Matrix Reloaded is somehow MORE byzantine than all six of Cloud Atlas's put together. They'll touch on human identity, interconnected souls, the very power that comes with the act of storytelling. Taylor will make puns and attempt to be insightful. Greta will roll her eyes at both.

Will Ferrell gets melancholy in Stranger than Fiction, and Patton Oswalt gets the saddest kind of angry in Big Fan. They'll talk how these performances employ the baggage these actors bring to the table, clinical devotion to making art successful, and whether or not the book in Stranger Than Fiction is actually good. Plus, Taylor reveals a major baseball memory.

On this episode of G&T, Greta and Taylor consider two Shakespearean adaptations that take place outside a traditional Shakespearean setting. First, Michael Almereyda's 2000 version of Hamlet set in the world of New York finance starring Ethan Hawke. They'll transition to another 'bored rich kid' story with My Own Private Idaho: Gus Van Sant's 1991 road trip, street hustler romance that heavily incorporates elements of Henry IV, with Keanu Reeves as Scott, the contemporary analogue of Prince Hal. Will they talk way too much about Keanu Reeves? Obviously, it's 2019, the year of Keanu! But they'll also get into what things are worth carrying over directly from Shakespeare in an atypical adaptation, and which things become far too labored in their translation.
