Trigger Warning: Mentions of experience with mental health and suicide

Guests: Lindsay McGlone (activist) and Adam Smith (NLP Coach)

With the rise in fad diets and celebrity fitness regimes, what next for the wellness industry? Joining Lotty on the sofa is Lindsay McGlone, an activist and influencer alongside Adam Smith, an NLP Coach.

Our obsession with wellness is making us unwell. The industry is worth billions of pounds. We’ve never had more direct access to information about what we can do and buy to make us look and feel better. We’re inundated with adverts and advice about our mental and physical wellbeing. Welcome to season 3 of LIFICAST. We’re bringing four episodes of discussion and debate ahead of Leeds International Festival of Ideas with two guests joining our host, Lotty Leeming.

In this series we’re going to investigate whether or not the rise in new platforms for adult entertainment, like subscription services, are a significant shift in the industry and is it safer? Is Brexit still preventing musicians from touring Europe and introducing audiences to new music and bands? Do the Windsors, the most famous family in the world, have a place in the modern society? And we question whether or not our annual wellness spending of billions is actually contributing to our overall poor health.

Series 3, Episode 1

Guests: Professor Kate Williams (Historian) and Stephen Cook (Republican). Kate has been in the media for twenty years, focusing on the Royal Family and its history. Stephen is a Republican activist and #NotMyKing supporter who wants the monarchy to be abolished.

This fascinating discussion asks, “Where next for the Royal Family?” in light of recent events in the Royal Family.
