The Book of Ruth is about a woman, Naomi, who finds herself destitute after the death of her husband and eventually, her sons as well. In her desperation, she decides to move back to her homeland and one of her daughter's-in-law chooses to go with her. Her devotion to her mother-in-law is the heart of this book. She puts aside her future to remain by the side of a woman who has nothing, and in the end, God blesses her.
We all make choices, generally in our own best interest, and sometimes, we make choices that help others who desperately need it. Perhaps the Book of Ruth is a gentle reminder that when we choose to help others first, both parties are rewarded.

The Book of Revelation was written by John when he was exiled by the Romans to the island of Patmos in what is now Greece. In a cave, now called the Cave of Revelation, John had a vision of Jesus that instructed him to write everything down and send it as letters to seven churches in Asia, today's Turkey. The seven churches were Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea. In the letters, Jesus tells the churches that He sees what they've been up to, what they're doing right, what they're doing wrong, and how to get back on track. (Incidentally, how cool would it be to get a letter from Jesus?!)
