Using Both Hands

©2006, Matthew Fitzgibbons

Your BB gun was a world of fun when you were just a little squirt.

You learned the rules of defensive tools so that no one would get hurt

You learned to breathe and you learn to squeeze till your aim was always true

And you made the right of passage, man, with your first real .22.

And now the New World Order crew, well, they're making their demands

They don't feel safe if you are armed. You say, "Gun control...is using both hands".

The Founders knew the 2nd Amendment was the final one to keep

to hold our other rights intact so we'd never become sheep.

Stalin, Hitler, Mao, Amin and Pol Pot,

they told us things that you never forgot

You teach the lessons to your daughters and sons,

to fear the government that fears your guns!

And now the New World Order crew, well, they're making their demands

They don't feel safe if you are armed. You say, "Gun control...is using both hands".

Well I prefer the .308 to the tiny .223

It gives me more than a thousand yards to protect my family!

And now the New World Order crew, well, they're making their demands

They can pass 100 laws, but we still won't give a damn.

All our enemies, they know the deal, if they try to take this land

They have no chance if we keep saying, "Gun control...is using both hands".

Stand

©2006, Matthew Fitzgibbons

I wonder if you share my passion

to help patriot's unite,

to learn what we've forgotten,

to protect the Bill of Rights

While some say we should trade freedom

for safety in these times,

some betray us in the courtrooms,

and rule saying "God" is a crime.

What can I do?

What can I say?

How can I help us understand the price we'll pay

If we don't stand today.

Most of the world would like to see us fall

and tell us how to live.

With all their help from their friends inside

to steal, what we won't give.

Guard your guns like the Founders warned

and keep the Constitution clear.

Learn to use both instinctively

and fear. And fear.

What can I do?

What can I say?

How can I help us understand the price we'll pay

If you don't stand today... Today!

In this episode of the Revolution Rock and Roll Podcast, we explore the sounds of the "Sons Of Liberty". SOL is Jon Sheaffer's alter-ego patriot metal project. Scheaffer comes from the world famous "Iced Earth" and is truly a master metal guitar player. Not only that, he is a dedicated U.S. historian. Even if you are not a metal fan, the content of his lyrics might just win you over. It's Iron Maiden meets George Washington...and it will make your ears bleed with patriot enthusiasm. One of the songs reviewed is called "Tree of Liberty". The lyrics took me down the wormhole which end with the reading of the original letter by Thomas Jefferson that contains this famous quote that so many of you have in your sig lines.

Revolution Rock and Roll Podcast #6 - Show Notes

RRR Update:
* Out last week – surgery...get it while you can! * Working on “Revolution is You”. Sounding Eagles-like out in 2 weeks * Hope to have Kevin Myers in studio next week * Sweet new guitar

Music:

  • “Liberty Song”
  • One of the first protest songs by John Dickenson
  • Published in 1768 in response to more taxes levied on the colonists (Townshend Acts of 1767).
  • To the tune of “Heart of Oak” (anthem of the Royal Navy) and “Here’s a Health” (irish )
  • First appearance of “United we Stand, Divided we Fall”
  • Reference to “Liberty” is to John Hancocks ship “The Liberty” which was seized by the authorities for smuggling. That led to a suspension of English imports by Boston Merchants in 1768.

"Liberty Song"

by John Dickinson

Come, join hand in hand, brave Americans all!

And rouse your bold hearts at fair Liberty's call;

No tyrannous acts shall suppress your just claim,

Or stain with dishonor America's name.

Chorus:

In freedom we're born, and in freedom we'll live!

Our purses are ready,

Steady, friends, steady;

Not as slaves, but as free men, our money we'll give.

How sweet are the labors that freemen endure,

That they shall enjoy all the profit, secure,

No more such sweet labors Americans know,

If Britons shall reap what Americans sow.

Then join hand in hand brave Americans all,

By uniting we stand, by dividing we fall;

In so righteous a cause let us hope to succeed,

For Heaven approves of each generous deed.

Welcome, Patriots... Not only will this section of Revolution Rock and Roll host the blog, but since this is a site all about the "sound" of our movement, and having a studio at my beck and call, an accompanying podcast simply makes sense. So please be on the lookout for a regular podcast coming soon. I will be posting the podcast on iTunes as well. I will be using these medium to discuss and deliver our songs, stories and inspiration. I would also like to hold interviews with other patriot musicians that may be hosting their material here on Revolution Rock and Roll.

So sit back, dump your used brass out on the coffee table, grab your de-primer and make hay whilst you listen to the ramblings of an old rock and roller who is using the only gift God has given him to get our country back to the way our founding fathers meant it to be.

Molon Labe-

Gregg

PODCAST TIPS:If you are not familiar with podcasts and how they work, I will try to explain a little bit here as well as give you some tips to get up and running with RSS.

First, you can always just browse to the particular podcast page you want to listen to on this Website and download the mp3 file directly to your computer. This is perfectly fine if you just want to listen to an episode or two. But I plan to do at least one podcast per week. How will you know when I put up a new episode? Great question! The answer is "RSS". "RSS" stands for "Real Simple Syndication". Basically, it is just a way for you to "subscribe" to the podcast. When new episodes are published your RSS reader (browser, iTunes or other readers) will automatically be notified and download the episode. All you have to do is fire up your RSS application or sync your ipod and you will always have the latest!
* iTunes - For podcasts in iTunes, you will need to go to the iTunes store via your iTunes program. Once you are in the store, go to "Podcasts" and search for "Revolution Rock and Roll". When it comes up hit "subscribe"!  "Revolution Rock and Roll" will now appear in your iTunes library under "Podcasts". Make sure you include podcasts in your sync settings for your ipod or iphone. * Browser - Most browsers have built-in RSS readers in them now. It will work like a "bookmark". All you do is simply hit the orange "RSS" logo button on the forums page. You will be taken to a page that will allow you to "bookmark" the RSS feed. Once you do this, the bookmark is now a "Live" bookmark. That means if I publish a new podcast, the bookmark will be aware of it and it will show up in a drop down list next to thie bookmark. Cool, eh? * Other Podcast / RSS aggregators -
