Join us every other week this summer to hear from amazing guests about what inspires them, keeps them going, allows them to keep creating — especially when they’ve already done so much. . Especially on Dr. Gameshow, she invites, or allows for, a certain kind of chaos that feels, shall we say, familiar. Vince can’t wait to interview her.The series wraps up this year on August 23 with Jo Firestone, a comedian whose work can be seen on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Joe Pera Talks With You, High Maintenance, Shrill, The Chris Gethard Show, and more. She can be heard on Maximum Fun’s Dr. Gameshow, a podcast she co-hosts with Manolo Moreno and Comedy Central’s “Everyday Decisions,” a podcast she hosts all alone. You may also recognize her from Broad City or even The Paper Machete

Phoning It In is BACK. More inspiring conversations with people we didn’t think would say yes. Perfect for the bullshit that is pandemic-era zoom church. Join us every other week this summer to hear from amazing guests about what inspires them, keeps them going, allows them to keep creating — especially when they’ve already done so much.

On Sunday, July 26th, Administrative Queen & Party Person Rihannon Dawson interviewed Micky ScottBey Jones, the Justice Doula (dang). Micky is a perpetual learner, communicator, facilitator, mama/sister/friend and “contemplivist” (contemplative activist) living just south of Nashville, TN.

At academic gatherings, conferences, through blogs and podcasts, Micky hosts & facilitates conferences, trainings and online conversations, writes & speaks on a variety of topics including burnout, race & justice, theology from the margins, and curates contemplative spaces/activities. Recently named one of the Black Christian leaders changing the world in Huffington Post, Micky is the Director of Healing Justice with Faith Matters Network and the Associate Fellow of Racial Justice with ESA. She also leads pilgrimages and speaks around the world about Brave Space, resilient activism and leadership and faith rooted organizing.

Have a friend who could use a dose of rejuvenation for the long work of justice? Invite ‘em! And share the link. (You’ll find it in your weekly email.) If you msg us in a way that doesn't seem troll-y or Zoom bomb-y, we'll also just give it to you.

First up, it’s Jamal Sims, the choreographer behind Aladdin (with Will Smith), Footloose, Hairspray. Check out his amazing choreography reel but also know that you might recognize his face from his guest judge stints on RuPaul’s Drag Race, for which he’s also done choreography.

Music director Adam Motz interviews Jamal on Sunday evening, July 12th. Spread the word and invite your dance-y friends, your RuPaul fan friends, and share the link with ‘em. What does it mean to find your person among the most unlikely of people? Also, how do you make hot cocoa? Join Bri and Alexa as they close out Season 1 discussing love and connection as the core of friendship with Rebecca Anderson of Gilead Chicago and Bethany Chicago. This is IRL AF, a podcast about real life adult friendships.

Rebecca Anderson is a pastor at two churches in Chicago, one of which she started from scratch. Her biscuits are unparalleled, and she knows the best places to pick juneberries. Outside of her work at Bethany UCC and Gilead Chicago, she is the head honcho of Earshot (EarshotStories.com), running storytelling workshops across the country. If you want to get to know Rebecca, you can find her on Sunday mornings at Bethany, a progressive-traditional church in Ravenswood (BethanyChicago.com), and Sunday evenings at Gilead, a queer storytelling bar church in a Rogers Park bar (GileadChicago.org). She hosts potlucks, plants gardens, and almost certainly wants to have coffee with you.

How do we navigate the heartbreak that comes from sending them with your blessing? This is the story of two Elizabeths among many others on a trip to explore friendship on a spiritual level.  This is IRL AF, a podcast about real life adult friendships.

What’s that they say about working with your friends not feeling like work at all? Join Bri and Alexa (who started as work friends!) as they talk about how friendships develop and become beautiful professional (kinda) partnerships with Gilead Co-Planters/Co-Pastors Vince Amlin and Rebecca Anderson. This is IRL AF, a podcast about real life adult friendships.

Vince Amlin is co-pastor of Bethany UCC, a church that practices open-minded, wholehearted, hands-on faith; and co-planter of Gilead Chicago, just your ordinary queer, storytelling, bar church. Every sitcom would have you believe that it's nearly impossible to have a close friend of a gender that you're attracted to without things eventually getting messy. Is that true? Is that a bad thing? What even are 'feelings'? Join Bri and Alexa as they talk about friendships that exist in the messy middles with our dear friend, Susan Haarman. This is IRL AF, a podcast about real life adult friendships.

Susan Haarman has worked with college students for almost 15 years. She recently stopped working for Jesus, although both He and her girlfriend claim otherwise. She is a storyteller, an improviser, and an unrepentant nerd. She likes in no particular order 1) really excellent cover songs, 2) over analyzing pop culture, 3) taking naps because she works full time and is also in a doctoral program. She wished Bri had written this bio.
