Filled with games, food, prizes, and plenty of fun, PAC the MAC, Boro Bash, and Creekapalooza are the perfect opportunity for students to invite their friends to experience Fairhaven Students. Along the way, they’ll build friendships, have a great time, and find hope in Jesus.

⛺️ 115 students said yes to JesusThis summer, 377 kids and students across all our campuses participated in Kids Camp, Middle School Mix, and the high school Life Conference. Through these experiences, 115 students made a decision to follow Jesus, either for the first time or by recommitting their lives to Him! And we believe what God began in these students is only the beginning.
🛏️ Beds built, meals packed, hope sharedIn August, we hosted our first-ever Family Serve Day. Families from every campus came together to meet real needs and embody the hope of Jesus side by side. And the results were incredible!
- 158 beds built for local kids without one
- 92,000 meals packed for under-resourced families in Guatemala
🔥 “The Helper” at workIn September, we launched The Helper, a powerful series on the Holy Spirit. And we saw real movement that spans generations:
- 227 people joined a small group for the first time
- 82 new leaders stepped up to lead
- 196 kids memorized Scripture and began talking with their families about the Holy Spirit’s work in their lives
🛝 From play time to life changeAt our Middle School Fall Retreat, 65 students dug deep into their faith, 17 made recommitments to live for Jesus, and one student made a first-time decision to follow Him!
That student was a 6th grade girl who first came to Fairhaven seven years ago as a child playing in the Centerville Campus children’s play area. And this year, she found Jesus. What a beautiful picture of how your generosity creates a ripple effect that only God can orchestrate!
🌏 A Bible 35 years in the makingTwo of our long-time global staff members just completed the first-ever full Bible translation in the Yazai language in Southeast Asia. Now, entire communities can read God’s Word in their own language for the very first time.
Through your giving, you’ve been part of this from the beginning, and you’re helping advance Bible translation efforts in other places around the world.

The first quarter of 2024 has been full of excitement and growth! As we reflect on the incredible things happening at Fairhaven, we want to share some highlights with you.
- Child Dedications: Over 20 children have been dedicated to the Lord during our Child Dedication services. This represents a commitment by parents to raise their children to know Jesus as their Savior.
- Community Events: Our community events, like our Easter Egg Hunts, have had great turnouts, with 400 attendees at Springboro alone. These events help us forge strong relationships in our communities.
- Student Ministry Milestones: Student Ministries hosted “The Weekend,” one of their biggest events ever, that brought together 186 middle and high school students and 75 leaders. We saw 17 students make commitments or rededications to follow Jesus!
- Scripture Memorization: More than 500 kids and students have memorized Bible verses, embedding God’s Word in their hearts.
- Kids & Students Events: “Plus Nights” for students and “Friday Nighters” for kids are breaking attendance records across all campuses, as children and teens gather to have fun and learn about God together.
- Leadership Development: Nearly 600 leaders convened at our second annual Fairhaven Leader Summit, engaging in enlightening talks and strategic planning for the future.
- New Covenant Members: We welcomed 100 new covenant members who are deepening their commitment to our church community.
- Baptisms: 99 people publicly affirmed their faith through baptism, including 53 on Easter weekend alone.
- Global Impact: Our Global Impact weekend resulted in our church raising $100,000 to support church multiplication efforts in Quito, Ecuador!
Every story, every event, and every baptism is a testament to the incredible ways God is moving in and through our community. We’re so thankful for each of you who contribute, whether through participation, prayer, or financial support.
Thank you for everything you do to help Fairhaven Church thrive. Let’s continue to thank God for these blessings and pray for His guidance as we eagerly anticipate what He has planned for us next.

Josh Dufford joined the Fairhaven staff in 2008 and serves as the Director of Communications. He leads the team that produces all of the church’s internal and external communications and marketing, including print materials, the website and app, social media, videos, and more.
He and his wife, Jennifer, met while playing in the Ohio University Marching 110. They married in 2009 and have three kids. Josh is a musician who plays piano and arranges marching band music. He also loves traveling, hiking, riding roller coasters, and rooting for the Steelers, Blue Jackets and Guardians.
Josh attended Ohio University, earning a B.S. in Visual Communications. Before joining our staff, he completed an internship with Cru and also spent time on the staff of Far Hills Community Church (now Fearless Church).

This week marked a significant milestone for Fairhaven Church: our 60th anniversary.
On April 19, 1964, twelve families gathered at the Kettering YMCA, united by their vision to start a new church south of Dayton. From those humble beginnings to the Fairhaven we know today, spanning four campuses and impacting thousands of lives, our journey is a testament to God’s incredible work through the faith and obedience of His people.
This anniversary isn’t just a celebration of the past; it’s a call to each of us to actively participate in what comes next. As we reflect on the legacy of those pioneering families, we are reminded that their simple steps of faith set in motion the expansive growth and deep impact of Fairhaven Church.
Ephesians 3:20 reminds us that God can do “immeasurably more than we can ask or imagine.” Our founding families might not have envisioned the scope of their impact, but their faithfulness laid a strong foundation for generations. Today, we stand on the precipice of the future, ready to take our “next right steps” that will help shape our next 60 years.

Whether it’s baptism, getting more involved, or increasing your generosity, every small step contributes to our big picture. If you’re uncertain about what your next step should be, we encourage you to seek God’s guidance through prayer.

Did you know that 1 in 4 children struggle with food insecurity? Supporting local food pantries is one of the best ways we can help fight hunger.
Each of our campuses partners with local food pantries and organizations to help under-resourced people in our community. These organizations are seeing record-high demand and working hard to keep up. You can help us “pack the pantry” to help keep their shelves stocked!
So we don’t overwhelm our partners, there are a limited number of spots available. If registration is full or you can’t deliver your items at the specified times, don’t worry. We’ll be doing more initiatives like this, and you can participate in the next one!
Here’s how you can help us pack the pantries:

- Select the pantry location and drop-off time you prefer. In some cases, you can also select the type of food you’d like to provide.
- Sometime after you register, we’ll send you a list of specific items to buy.
- Take the items to your selected pantry during the specified collection hours.

Family, work, finances, health – life can be difficult. And sometimes, you need a listening ear and someone to pray with you as you work through your feelings. Our One-on-One Care Ministry is here to come alongside and minister to people experiencing a crisis or a challenging situation.
Through our One-on-One Care Ministry, you can meet weekly to talk with a Stephen Minister for encouragement, support, and Christ-centered care. Stephen Ministers care for people facing life’s difficulties, such as divorce, family crisis, unemployment, illness, and grief.

Stephen Ministers are members of Fairhaven who have received 50 hours of caregiving-training and meet monthly for continuing education and supervision. However, they are not licensed counselors.

This Mother’s Day, we’re giving you the opportunity to honor your mom or a special woman in your life by having us make a $5 donation in her name to Hope Rising.
Hope Rising, formerly known as The Miami Valley Women’s Center, is a Christ-centered pregnancy resource center that offers practical assistance, emotional support, life-affirming information, and compassionate services related to pregnancy decisions.
Hope Rising provides items like diapers and baby clothes, offers parenting classes, and seeks opportunities to share the Good News with their clients. In 2022, they assisted nearly 1,800 clients, gave out over 50,000 diapers, and shared the gospel with more than 700 people.

June 4 is Move Up Sunday, when kids and students will transition to their new ministries and programs reflecting their grades for the 2023-2024 school year!
Beginning June 4, kids moving into kindergarten will begin their elementary experience, current 5th graders will start attending Sunday morning worship services and Fairhaven Students events, and our graduating seniors will join Young Adults.

The Raisch family has generously provided two college scholarships to help students continue their academic careers. Application links are below; the application deadline is May 31, 2023
The Raisch Memorial Scholarship of $1,000 will be awarded to a high school graduate who has been accepted to a 2-year or 4-year post-secondary institution, any major. The applicant must be a member or active participant of Fairhaven Church or a family member of a Fairhaven member or Global Staff. To be considered for the scholarship, students must complete the application form, which includes a 500-word essay, letters of recommendation, and a statement of your faith by May 31, 2023. Summer is the perfect time to study God’s Word, and we have a 4-week small group experience that is relaxed, relational, and designed to be invitational. Invite friends, neighbors, and coworkers to join you as we take a closer look at the book of Malachi and learn to rest in the hope of Jesus, no matter what is happening around us.
You can join a group or host your own. Groups will meet on various days and times, starting the week of June 4. This one-hour study can be held in your home, at a local coffee shop, or even outside at a local park. We provide a kit with everything needed to host a group.
The cost is $10 and includes study book. Space is limited; register by May 21.

We saw God moving in so many ways in the early parts of 2023, and it wouldn’t have been possible without your generosity. Let’s celebrate some of the ways people are finding hope!
170 middle school and high school students and 50 leaders participated in The Weekend, a high-energy, high-impact event we hosted in March. Read more about what God did during “The Weekend”
Hundreds of kids had a blast attending Friday Nighters across all four of our campuses!
Over 30 people were baptized January-March, and 16 children were dedicated at the Centerville Campus.
The Springboro Campus is partnering with the Gospel Mission, serving with them on a monthly basis.
We collected over 3.5 tons of food and supplies to support six food pantries in our community. That’s enough to make 17,500 meals!
Five new Stephen Ministers were commissioned to provide one-to-one Christian care.
95 couples enjoyed a free date night and enriched their marriages at our Friday Night Marriage Event in February.
We raised over $81,000to support the development of digital tools and resources believers in Southeast Asia are using to reach people there.
858 people participated in small groups during the Light in the Darkness series.
We paid of a $1.2 million loan three years early to free up more resources to accomplish the vision that God has for Fairhaven Church!

Going to church on Easter weekend is an experience that often helps us feel close to God. But when it’s over, and we go back to living our everyday lives, where is God then?
It’s easy to forget, as we go back to living seemingly average lives, that there’s a God who loves us deeply and wants us to be difference-makers!
Next Sunday, April 16, we’ll start a brand new sermon series called Average Joe. We’ll look at the stories of a number of people in the Bible who seemed pretty ordinary, but allowed God to use them to do extraordinary things.
You’re not just an average joe. You’re an image-bearer of the Creator of the Universe, who made you, loves you, and wants the best for you. Join us over the next few weeks, as we learn more together.

Thrive Together is a holistic approach towards addressing poverty where participants feel empowered, experience community, and find hope.
We offer job readiness and leadership training, opportunities to try new things, fun activities and field trips for the kids, and support and encouragement through community.
Thrive Together meets at Fairhaven’s Centerville Campus on Tuesdays from 5:45-8:00 PM for a home-cooked dinner and a time of community where we have fun learning new skills.

Our impactful Maundy Thursday events are services of darkness, where we gather to contemplate and reflect on Jesus’ death. We will sing, read His last words from the cross, and take Communion together. It’s a one-of-a-kind experience that will help you remember the significance of the sacrifice He made for you.

Food insecurity is on the rise, and we want to help!
Due to recent SNAP benefit changes, product shortages and rising grocery prices, food pantries throughout the Miami Valley are seeing an increased demand for their assistance. Let’s provide some of the resources they need and to serve our communities during this difficult time.
During the month of March, each of our campuses is collecting goods to donate to a food pantry in their community. In some cases, we’re collecting more than just food, as there are needs for personal and household products as well.

This year, we welcomed global staff Drs Luke and Amy Wong for our annual Global Impact weekend.
Luke and Amy served in Southeast Asia for 17 years, and currently reside in Houston, Texas. It’s inspiring to hear the stories they share about their ministry overseas, and how they have passed the torch to leaders they helped train. And, that even from half a world away, they continue to support that ministry and the people there with additional training and resources, like the 7 Stages app.
Following their message, Lead Pastor David Smith shared how we can be a part of what God is doing in Southeast Asia by supporting this year’s Global Impact Giving Project. By participating, you’ll help provide funds to help Luke and Amy train leaders of the persecuted underground church using the 7 Stages discipleship ministry tool. This wholistic discipleship training resource will be made available to local pastors and small group leaders in a number of house churches as they seek to expand God’s kingdom in the hard places.

Several years ago, we had a number of teams who visited local care facilities to visit with the residents and conduct worship services for them. We had to stop these visits during the pandemic, as did other organizations who were doing this.
Now, care facilities are once again welcoming visits, but not all of the organizations who were doing this before have returned, and we want to help fill that gap. Patients in care facilities desperately need connections and to feel cared for, and we want to share the love and hope of Jesus with them!
If you’d like to help us brighten the day of care facility residents with us, we would love to have you. There are lots of ways you can help, from just visiting and talking, to helping coordinate worship services, to sharing a hobby or an interest you have.

We talk a lot about finding hope, but we recognize that’s not always easy. Many of us are dealing with difficulties that can make hope seem distant
At Fairhaven, we believe that we’re better together. There’s a unique strength God imparts to us when we’re gathered together, developing relationships with one another. And for those of us who are struggling right now, this is especially true!
That’s why we offer support groups like Divorce Care, Grief Share, and Rebuild, and ongoing groups like Conquer Series for men who struggle with sex addiction and pornography, Women of Hope for wives whose husbands struggle in those areas, and Celebrate Recovery for help with the hurts, habits and hang-ups of life.
If you’re in a difficult season, now is a great time to join any of these groups.
We want you to experience community that will give you strength to navigate the season you’re in.

During our Give Me Strength sermon series, pastor Paul Clark encouraged us to make Sabbath the highlight of our week. To help you make that a reality, here are a list of creative suggestions for you and your friends and family, as well as some resources for further reading about the Sabbath.
Creative suggestions for your Sabbath• Take a long walk.
• Play an instrument for no other reason than enjoyment.
• Eat different foods than you might eat during the week.
• Head to the lake or the swimming pool.
• Play in the park with friends.
• Read a good book that is nothing but fluff (it won’t make you smarter).
• Light candles and craft a Sabbath blessing to mark time.
• Plan the meal and some specially planned table conversation.
• “How did you experience God this week?”
• “Has God answered any of our prayers?”
• Excuse younger children to play with toys from the Sabbath basket.
• Prepare for Sabbath by ceasing work and putting all work materials away.
• Use pink candles at the dinner table (since pink is the liturgical color for Joy).
• Use the special china or tableware for Sabbath meals.
• Put extra meat in the pot on Sundays and invite any worshipers who don’t have a place to go to come home with your family and share dinner.
• Play the most relaxing music you have.
• Use spices, candles or oils to create an aroma that is soothing and inviting.
• Prepare communion using your favorite bread and wine.
• Meditate on a passage of Scripture that is hopeful.
• Read a book that focuses on praising God—C. S. Lewis’s Narnia Chronicles, the novels of George MacDonald.
• Write some poetry, knowing it will never be seen by anyone.
• Invite special friends or family to a Sabbath dinner.
• Go for a nice, slow bicycle ride.
• Use a rocking chair, a lawn chair in the sun, or a cozy couch as a place to just shut your eyes.
• Cook a big breakfast before church and eat joyfully around the table.
• Go to the last worship service and use the morning for an unhurried startup.
• Spend some time looking at family pictures and recalling special times.
• Pick a movie and make some popcorn.
• Choose some things to give away (good things, not junk).
• Remove your watch, silence your phone, turn off your computer.
• Play the “high/low” game to help kids know what to pray about.

As we reflected on what God allowed us to do as a church family this year, we realized that we’ve hit a significant milestone. In 2022, we gave away over $1 million! And not only that, but this is the tenth consecutive year we’ve been able to do this!
That means over the last decade, $10 million dollars of what you’ve given to Fairhaven Church has gone to support things beyond our walls, like local outreach, global missions, benevolence, disaster relief and more!
This year’s million dollars includes support for Care Portal, our local partnership that helps fulfill practical needs for local children and families in crisis. In 2022, we were able to support over 160 children! Additionally, we supported over 550 local families facing difficult circumstances with gifts totaling over $150,000.
It also included our support for 72 global staff members serving in 18 different countries, who are building relationships and sharing the gospel in some of the most unreached parts of the world. We also gave $100,000 to our ministry partners in Indonesia, who visited us during Global Impact weekend, to support the needs of students and families connected with the seminary there.
The Bible says it is “more blessed to give than to receive,” and this has certainly been our experience! We are so grateful for the opportunities God has given us to love and serve so many people in so many places in so many ways. And if you’ve given to Fairhaven Church, we hope this joy extends to you.
As an expression of our joy, we wanted to celebrate this milestone in a big way. And what better way to celebrate generosity than with generosity? This December, we’re giving some special financial gifts to our ministry partners:
1. We are making additional financial gifts totaling $60,000 to some of our local partner organizations, including Isaiah 117, Northmont Friends in Service for Humanity, Sleep in Heavenly Peace and Feed the Creek, to support the important work they do in our communities.
2. We are sending all of our global staff an extra month’s worth of financial support.
3. We are giving an extra $100,000 to the Global Commission Fund, which supports all of the global workers and ministries of the network of churches we belong to, the Christian & Missionary Alliance.
As amazing as this is, we couldn’t be generous without YOU being generous. It’s your generosity toward Fairhaven that allows us to powerfully share God’s love and help people find hope in Jesus.

We’ve always admired families in our church and in our communities who are or have been on the journey of adoption. Scripture identifies adoption as a ministry that’s close to God’s heart, as it provides such a clear picture of what God Himself does for us as His children.
Yet, we recognize the adoption process isn’t easy and that many adoptive families face uniquely difficult challenges and barriers along the way, with financial hardship often at the top of the list.
That’s why we’re excited to announce that we’re partnering with an organization called Lifesong and investing $40,000 to financially support families who are going through this process. We want to relieve the financial burden of adoption for families, so that they can focus on showing children the love of Jesus.
Through our partnership with Lifesong, we’ll be able to provide financial support and other helpful resources to make the journey of adoption a little easier. To learn more about how this partnership works, watch this video.

On Maundy Thursday, all our campuses come together for a time of reflection on Jesus’ death on the cross. It’s a powerful service that will help you remember the significance of that sacrifice.
Tickets are required to attend in person and available starting Monday, March 28. Childcare is available for children 6 weeks – kindergarten, and we ask that you register in advance.

Your child’s dedication is your public declaration to commit yourself to raise your child to know Christ as their Savior, and that you commit yourself, as parents, to provide an environment in which that can happen.
Families are encouraged to invite extended family, friends and community group members to take part in supporting the dedication of their child.
*Please note that child dedication is not the same as infant baptism.
Child Dedication takes place at each of our campuses throughout the year. For information on upcoming dedication services, please contact your campus (contacts listed below) or watch for information on the app or the Kids ministry page.

We’re heartbroken over the devastation so many people experienced during last week’s tornadoes and storms in western Kentucky around the surrounding areas. The storms struck an area several of our sister churches serve, and as we connected with those churches and other partners organizing relief efforts, we want to help support the efforts to restore those communities.
Through your generosity, we have already donated $30,000 to support the churches leading the effort in their communities.
If you would like to provide additional funds toward the relief effort, you can give in one of three ways:
- Text “compassion” and an amount to 937-202-4050
- Give online and select “Offering of Compassion”
- Write a check to Fairhaven Church with “Offering of Compassion” in the memo
We’ll keep in touch with our partners and pass along any specific needs or serving opportunities they share with us. Thanks for helping us support those affected by this disaster. Together, we’re helping people find hope!

Reflecting on God’s Truth can sometimes help unwind anxiety in our lives. Here are some encouraging, peace-giving truths and passages that might be helpful when anxiety works its way into your life.
God will sustain me.
“Now we have this treasure in clay jars, so that this extraordinary power may be from God and not from us. We are afflicted in every way but not crushed. We are perplexed but not in despair; we are persecuted but not abandoned; we are struck down but not destroyed.” (2 Corinthians 4:7-9)
God gives me strength.
“Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will help you; I will hold on to you with my righteous right hand.” (Isaiah 41:10)
Jesus understands my pain.
“For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has been tempted in every way as we are, yet without sin. Therefore, let us approach the throne of grace with boldness, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in time of need.” (Hebrews 4:15-18)
God understands my thoughts.
“Lord, you have searched me and known me, you know when I sit down and when I stand up, you understand my thoughts from far away. You observe y travels and my rest; you are aware of all my ways.” (Psalm 139:1-3)
Nothing can separate me from God’s love.
“For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus.” (Romans 8:38-39)
This world is temporary, heaven is forever.
“The suffering of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is going to be revealed o us.” (Romans 8:18)
God sees me and cares for me.
“You yourself have recorded my wanderings, put my tears in your bottle, are they not in your book?” (Psalm 56:8)
God works everything for my good.
“We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God, who are called according to His purpose.” (Romans 8:28)
God will take care of me.
“God will supply all my needs according to his riches in glory.” (Philippians 4:19)
God gives me rest.
“Come to me all who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30)

“There’s hope with God. There’s always hope.” –Alexa Troutman
Lester and Alexa Troutman both grew up surrounded by many negative influences, including pornography and addiction. Over the years, they tried different ways of dealing with the effects their pasts were having on their present, but with no real success. Through community at Fairhaven and with the help of the Conquer Series and Women of Hope, God is using Lester’s and Alexa’s pasts to shape their future and to help others.
If you struggle with pornography or sex addiction, we want to help.
The Men’s Conquer Seriesis a study focused around the subject of sexual purity that examines scientific facts and biblical strategies to help men lead sexually pure lives, free from pornography.
Women of Hope offers confidential support, resources, hope and healing to married women whose husbands have struggled with pornography or other sexual addictions.
If you deal with an issue outside of the definitions of these groups, we would still love the opportunity to help. Men can email Pastor Chip Tudor, and women can email Kelly Carraher.
