Hey Family,
I learned a little more today about what it means to read the Bible is part of a life of worship. For instance, am I reading it to see how God fits in "my story," or a m I letting it read my life into God's story? Can I see Jesus in all of Scripture?
If we really are a "we" that is wrapped up in God's story of grace, would that change the way we live it out? How about baptism, the Lord's Supper, the way we come together? Have we let our "Scientific" minds keep us from drawing close to Christ in a way that is OK with the mystery of God?
If you're curious, I encourage you to read Robert Webber's "Ancient-Future Worship: Proclaiming and enacting God's Narrative."

Hello again Family!
Even outside the Jesus family tree, if you're listening in from our neck of the woods, you're probably more than a little bit Irish!
Well, the Church remembers St. Columba, a missionary to the Scots in the 500's: Not to mention, he might have defeated the Loch Ness Monster by the sign of the cross and the name of God!!!

While we are doing our intercessory prayer time we are playing "Veni Sancte Spiritus/Come Holy Spirit" performed by Liturgical Folk in honor of the coming of the Holy Spirit to the Church. Thanks Jesus for giving us His Spirit!
Here's the Lyrics:
Holy Spirit, Lord of light, From Thy clear celestial height Thy pure beaming radiance give. Come, Thou Father of the poor, Come with treasures which endure, Come, Thou Light of all that live. Thou, of all consolers best, Thou, the soul’s delightsome Guest, Dost refreshing peace bestow. Thou in toil art comfort sweet, Pleasant coolness in the heat, Solace in the midst of woe. Light immortal, Light divine, Visit Thou these hearts of Thine, And our inmost being fill. If Thou take Thy grace away, Nothing pure in man will stay; All his good is turned to ill. Heal our wounds; our strength renew; On our dryness pour Thy dew; Wash the stains of guilt away. Bend the stubborn heart and will; Melt the frozen, warm the chill; Guide the steps that go astray. Thou, on those who evermore Thee confess and Thee adore, In Thy sevenfold gifts descend: Give them comfort when they die, Give them life with Thee on high; Give them joys that never end. Our intro music is "Reclaim Your Sheep," by Liturgical Folk a well (we love their music, does anyone know how to play an instrument or sing?). Our closing song is "Breath on Me, Breath of God," performed by Page Cxvi (also awesome!).

All this reading is an adjustment for us!
But, we are learning to love the central role of the Bible in this traditional format. We pray you and your family are blessed by it as well, and that God's glory is revealed in His word and our time spent together!
You might notice the Latin names on many of our Psalms and songs. That is usually the first line out of the Bible as they are read. I guess the Church sang Scripture in worship so long they got to know them all on a "first name basis!" ;).
We encourage you to meditate on the Scripture you have read, heard, and sung tonight! We hope it goes with you tomorrow as you worship!

Hello Family (that's you!)
If you're wondering what our Family Prayer thing is all about, this is the place to start!
Our purpose here is simply to help draw families closer together in Christ through making time to Love Jesus, learn Scripture, learn to pray, and love the Church!
You can also contact us through our email, evfamilyprayer@gmail.com, or https://www.facebook.com/emmanuelvalleymissouri.
You can see the website that we use to organize our family prayer time here. Or you can download a pdf version of the ACNA's book of common prayer here, which includes family prayer and the much more!
Our intro music is "Reclaim Your Sheep," by Liturgical Folk and our closing song tonight is "The Lord's Prayer" from Page Cxvi's "Lullabies Album.
Check them out!
