The Prayer Helper: Recent Episodes

Mrs. Celena J. Owens, Pastor

Pastor Celena Owens seeks to be a minister of helps.

1 Corinthians 12:28 shows the value in such a ministry, and mine exists simply to encourage and to bring more of Jesus into your immediate situation (James 5:16).

It is my sincerest and homespun hope that the hearer leaves this podcast enriched and infused by the wonderful Word and the Holy Presence of God.

So PRAY. Pray the Word of God, then listen for His voice. I’m here to help if you need it.

The Lord willing, beginning September 23, 2020, I’ll be teaching an 8-week course from my first book, "Ishshahs Basic Cornerstones for Marriage."

Because finances may be a little strained this season, this entire two-month session is ONLY $40. That’s right. It's a one-time tuition investment of $40 (that’s just $5 a week, ladies). I can’t make it any cheaper than that! Women can always join later, but the cost to do so increases to $10 per weekly session.

Purchasing the book "Ishshahs Basic Cornerstones for Marriage" in advance will be helpful for our discussions. The book can be purchased virtually from Amazon, Walmart, and Barnes and Noble; as well as a few local Maryland bookstores.

You can also get a signed copy mailed IMMEDIATELY to you. Simply #CashApp $20 to $MrsCelenaOwens and email your name and mailing address to Ishshahs@outlook.com.

This course will convene right here in a private and safe Facebook group. It is for wives who desire or need extra marital encouragement and prayer; as well as for women who are not yet wives but have concerns or need understanding before marrying.

Interested parties should email Ishshahs@outlook.com and type "I'm Interested" in the subject line and their names, telephone numbers, and marital status in the body of the email. There is ONE scholarship/sponsored (free) seat available for this course, so any interested parties should inquire quickly.

Ishshah (wife/woman), get excited! Because my expectation is for it to get better! Always keep your focus on and hope in our Jesus!

Job was a very righteous man of God; even the Lord said so Himself. Job respected people, he took care of his children, and he was seen as a wise and Godly leader in his community. Like Enoch, Job was a man that walked with the Lord. Daily. He knew God personally as Eloah, and tried to demonstrate God in all his ways.

Through the eyes of a wife, I wrote THE JOB 29 MAN as a devotional to pray for our husbands; because to me Job 29 is for men what Proverbs 31 is for women. Marriage is honorable in all things and is not to be taken lightly. But the GREAT thing about Scripture is that it's not gendered specific. So as we go through this devotional, know that YOU - married or unmarried, male or female - can pray these verses for yourself, or stand in proxy for someone that the Lord would place on your heart.

Know that your prayers WILL prevail. It is my hope that as you read, study, and pray these Scriptures that you would not get weary in well-doing, and continue to look to and expect from the Author and Finisher of your faith. As I successfully endure a bout with a cold, my good friend and woman of faith, Karla M., is stepping in today. When we are overwhelmed by our circumstances, we often think that we are alone. After all, no one else can possibly be going through what we are experiencing; however, we are never alone. Many of us have experienced being in a dark pit, going through the fire or drowning in the raging waters. However you choose to describe what you are experiencing, it is a place you desperately need out of. I know exactly where you are and I know who can direct you to the other side. His name is Jesus.

You and I HAVE gifts. We don't need another one. It's time for us to work the ones we've been given to bring God glory, to perpetuate His Kingdom, to help others, and to share in the rewards and harvest promised to us. You have a talent to be shared. You have a tool that can be used. Jesus definitely gave us (at least) one (1 Peter 4:10).

1 Corinthians 4:7: Don't act like you didn't receive a gift.

We all need to have and be clear on our "mission statement." And as the Lord is redefining this ministry, I am gaining new clarity every day.

If you're unsure of your identity and/or His vision statement for your life, now is the time to get it. The Lord is patiently and graciously issuing the certainty we need to make sure that we are still current with our calls, and that we're not missing out on any of the restructuring that's going on.

And though the wording may change, the true intent to honor God, help people, and be a blessing in the lives of others never will.

Proverbs 18:22 says, "He who finds a [true] wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the Lord." Again, the Hebrew word here for "wife" is ishshah; the same as it is for woman. And in this verse, we see that "wife-hood" is already within the woman. Capability is already her portion. So by the time she meets destiny, she's already used to living her life according to divine design - bearing out her calling (as a wife).

And, because she's already spent time with the Lord being built up by Him (Genesis 2:22):

  • she's already empowering (Judges 4:4).
  • she's already secure (Judges 4:21).
  • she's already confident (Exodus 15:20).
  • she's already gentle (1 Peter 3:1-4).
  • she's already nurturing (1 Peter 4:10-11).
  • she's already resourceful (Proverbs 31:10-30).
  • she already knows how to submit and defer to him when she needs to (Ephesians 5:21).
  • She's already a safe place to land (Song of Solomon 7:6).

Just as this ishshah was already prepared for her destiny when God brought her to it, so are you and I already prepared for the opportunities the Lord has for us. In this season, don't back down from those opportunities that the Lord is presenting to you. Take the promotion. Say yes to the dress (and the man!). Rebuild the business. Begin the ministry. Develop the website. Enroll in the course. Sell the house. Buy the house! Adopt the child. Join the church. . .

God's very Soul loves our souls. And He's gifted us to freely extend this same grace to love the soul of our spouses. Just think about what Adam said when he first saw Eve. The Word says that he exclaimed that she was woman! No introduction or explanation was needed or given. He simply took one look at this new creation and knew exactly who she was, why she was, and how she came to be (Genesis 2:23). The very manifestation of her before him ministered to his soul - and she had yet to say a word.

Today ask the Lord to show you how you can generate this same type of response in your husband; regardless of how many days or years you've been married. Ask the Lord to help you to know that your presence, your talents, and your individuality are enough to help meet his needs.

View Details

Let me remind you that you have a divine ability, right, and even a divine summons to help those who either can't speak up for themselves (Proverbs 31:8, 9), don't want to talk to the Lord (Psalm 78:32), or don't know that they need to talk to Him about their needs (Genesis 2:20). You are called to stand in the gap (Ezekiel 22:30); to help make up the difference; to fill a need.

The Lord has blessed you with an anointing to do just that. You are a blessing, and you are capable of making things better simply by showing up. And sometimes, you might not even have to speak a word (Job 2:13, Isaiah 42:2).

Do NOT underestimate the power of simple presence. After all, even though you know He's there with you all the time, don't you feel better when God MANIFESTS His Presence in your atmosphere? So:

  • Head into the bedroom with the right idea (Matthew 5:6).
  • Walk into that office with the mindset that God can and will use you to help extinguish fires, comfort the hurting, and bring a seed of clarity to the lost and confused (Luke 2:10).
  • Enter that hospital with faith (James 5:15).
  • Show up at the school with the right mindset (Ephesians 1:18).
  • Sit down at the settlement table knowing you'll have favor and good success (Hebrews 4:16).

Just, show up. Your gifts, through Holy Spirit, will manifest in just the right way, at just the right time. You won't have to "figure it out." Holy Spirit will show you which word, which weapon, which character trait to pull out of your holy sheath at just the right moment (Luke 12:12).

Remember that when God created you, He did so deliberately. Just as He wanted. Your height was His choice. Your eye color was His choice. The nail shape of your pinky toe was His choice. That birthmark on the back of your neck was because of His choice and delight. Even the very meaning of your name was given by His choice. The gentleness of your heart and the unique sound of your voice were all pre-selected by the Lord to make you uniquely you. And, it gets even better. Once He finished creating you, He thought enough of you to call you His Masterpiece (Ephesians 2:10).

Celebrate your differences from other people, even the things that you consider to be flawed, simply by saying Thank You to the Lord for them.

Thank You for my moles and the freckles.

Thank You for my sturdy feet.

Thank You for my hair.

Thank You for the curves that I have.

Thank You for my lips.

Thank You for my personality.

Thank You for a sound mind.

Thank You for a peace-making, peace-keeping will.

Thank You for a gentle spirit.

Thank You for girding me with strength and making my arms strong.

Thank You for making everything about me suitable and meet.

I am unique. All of these attributes combined are what make me unique.

Special. Intentionally designed by You for the husband and the purpose that You gave me.

He and I may be anatomically and emotionally different, but You make us compatible.

And, I choose to celebrate that and You today, Lord;

because it is You, Holy Spirit, Who continuously whispers to my heart

that I am fearfully and WONDERFULLY made.

Thank You for that Jesus.

Thank You.

Amen.

Ishshah, God Personally made (banah) you.

The Hebrew word, banah, implies building with symmetry, precise measuring, and building by original design. He made you thoughtfully. You are who you are, and you are gifted with what you've been gifted with because of the grace of God.

In the first courtship of Genesis, we see in 2:22 that God brought the woman to the man: Bringingthe woman to the man suggests that her manufacturing was not done in his immediate presence, but that her unformed substance was knit together away from him; at an undisclosed location, in an unspecified place.

Once the Lord brings the woman into the man's life, the man's immediate persona changes simply because she showed up in his space. In Genesis 2:23 the man's identification goes from adam to iysh: "And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman" because she was taken out of Man (isysh)." Who he is when she comes around is immediately different when it was just him and God. He immediately goes from being identified as an unmarried human man to now being a husband.

Ishshah, that's just a touch of the power and the effect that you have on a man and the level of impact that you bring to the earth. Because of the (ezer) anointing on your life to help, your presence can and does modify words, actions, thoughts, and all.

The Lord still has need of you. And what He needs is for you to use the gifts He's given you to be a blessing to someone else.

It's not your job (or mine) to figure out how it's all going to work out for our good. It's simply our job to trust Him and obey Him.

So show up today wearing the mantle He's given you. Show up today being willing to be a blessing to others today. He'll work out the rest.

Today and every day this year, remind yourself that the Lord needs you down here in the earth; that He has a very exact mission for you to accomplish in this world. According to Colossians 1:16, Jesus has made everything wisely and with a particular purpose, so whatever He's called you to do on top of your basic call as a helper, it's real. It's important, it's serious, and it's vital.

Prophetic confirmation is an imperative, trusted, and personal entity. I know because I've desired and sometimes even required it before taking any action. But lateral prophetic confirmation can also become a crutch when you rely solely on it instead of your faith. Today, remember that because the Voice and Spirit of God lives within you, you ALREADY have enough of Him to do what you are being required to do in the earth. And that is simply using your gifts to be a helper.

and much more, will be the crux of our discussions; especially as they relate to being a wife with a WHOLE husband in marriage.

So, please join me here on Anchor, at @Ishshahs or @IshshahMinistries across other social platforms, and on my website blogs: https://www.ishshahs.com/breadcrumbs. I look forward to engaging with you, bringing you what thus says the Lord, and praying about your concerns.

Marriage is so important. And remembering to honor it, to be loyal in it, and to reflect the glory and goodness of God through it is key. We do this individually, as a husband or a wife, and we do this collectively as one unit.

Divorce was never God's best for the two people that He brought together; to (patiently) help balance and uplift and protect each other. If that's something you're considering today, please let Ishshah Ministries join you in prayer as you patiently rethink and hear God's heart again on the subject of commitment. We're not here to give you unGodly, unsolicited counsel, but to pray with you through these tough times.

Marriage, much like the world, has different seasons; some colder and with more frostbite than others. But stay encouraged. May God bring understanding, enrichment, clarity, and peace ALL THE MORE as you pray for the success of your marriage, your spouse, and yourself.

I know its been said that men aren't emotional creatures, but I disagree.

Our husbands, big strong men that they are, get emotional too. Why would we think they couldn't, or shouldn't? God gave them feelings and emotions, too. They feel pain, happiness, and times of doubt and confusion just as we do.

Perhaps they don't easily permit or admit to these feelings, but God-issued emotions and feelings are still there. And isn't this just the type of person who needs help the most: the one who can't acknowledge or admit that they need it? This is where we as their ishshahs come in.

Today, we're praying for the overall well-being of our husbands thoughts, feelings, and emotions. We're asking God to help our men receive His permission to address and process those thoughts, feelings, and emotions (that they would otherwise suppress), right at His throne.

We pray for our husbands to know more of God's joy, happiness, and praise. May they come to know this fresh and chasmic delight in the Lord.

Praising Him brings his Presence, and in His Presence is joy to the fullest (happiness, glee, gladness, delight, giddiness, excitement, cheerfulness, joviality, high-spirit, felicity, well-being, merriment, gaiety, pleasure, contentment and SO much more).

Jonah 2:9 reminds us that "Deliverance belongs to the Lord!"

As wives, we know that our husbands - as great and wonderful and capable and strong and sure as they are - still struggle. They wrestle with desires, thoughts, memories, insecurities, and every day crises that are designed to take their mind and focus off of the assured victory that Christ has laid out for them.

Today, we "raise our prayer" for these men (according to 2 Kings 19:4) , and trust in our "Tower of Deliverance" to show them mercy (2 Samuel 22:51), and to anoint them afresh today (Psalm 92:10). Because we trust that no matter what evils or defeat our men may face today, the God of deliverance assures us that He'll deliver our husbands out of them all (Psalm 34:19 / 2 Chronicles 20).

Ishshah, declare the entire joy and victory of Isaiah 12 after praying with us!

With some many sights, sounds, previous experiences, and inner desires, a Godly life is not always easy to pursue or maintain. But it can be done. It's never an easy journey, and it's not always a smooth ride, but through prayer with faith in Jesus Christ'  and the Word of GOD, such a life can be accomplished.

As wives, as HELP-MEETS, we've been empowered and encouraged to pray for such a lifestyle for our husbands. They'll never truly prosper and succeed or live such a Godly life without the Word of God. That's where our prayers come in. We want our husbands to know God in more profound and sure ways; and speaking and petitioning Scripture over their lives is one way to bring about such a maturing change. We want their lives to advertise their Christ before their mouth EVER says a word. We want their minds to know that pursuing a Godly life won't mean they'll always have a constant high, but it does mean that they'll always have a Constant, Holy Support.

The power of a Godly life is found only in Christ. We're praying the truth of Who He is over our men today; that they may know such a power.

Join us? Remember the pronouns (husbands, wives, etc.) used in these prayers are not bound to your faith. You can pray these same Scriptures for whomever Holy Spirit has placed upon your heart and mind.

We're continuing in prayer for the men in our lives; asking God to bring upon them a more defined, more passionate, and more purposeful Godly lifestyle. We're asking today that the Lord would remind our husband's that there's meaning and delight in living a (more) Godly life.

We're also asking Holy Spirit to remind them of their callings and predestined purposes today. In Jesus name.

As ishshahs, we want the righteousness of Christ to more fully envelop and develop the lives of our men.

But we'll continue with the prayers for more righteousness and Godly living tomorrow.

I have thoroughly enjoyed taking a closer look at Abigail's life with you, and I hope you've experienced a similar delight. Today we conclude her study and accept all of the grace that Holy Spirit releases to us.

He is NO respecter of person. He is the SAME God from yesterday (with Abigail) that He is today (with us), and will be tomorrow (with our children). And, as a truth in faith, we accept from Him RENEWED:

  • understanding
  • wisdom
  • patience and timing
  • gentleness and kindness
  • humility
  • discernment
  • timing - know when to move and when not to move
  • intercession and intervention
  • proper alignment and connections
  • wealth and success
  • an ear to hear and really LISTEN to others
  • contentment, and an ability to take what we have and use what we for His glory
  • truthfulness
  • an ability to encourage others in their purpose - even if they mean us harm
  • bravery and fearless; NOT running away from any battle that we're supposed to run toward
  • using our weapons to fight - non-carnally
  • addressing peoples true needs and issues (including rejection)
  • and so many others.

What weapon (characteristic) from her story do you need to build up? Because there will ALWAYS be battles to be faced. And won. And, we can win them as Abigail did. Humbly and gracefully. In Jesus name.

In the case of strangers (those we're not overly familiar with), we may not know all of their struggles. But we can still give to them. Whether it's $5, $2, or a prayer, we can sow a generous Kingdom seed, of Holy Spirit' choosing, into their lives. Let's challenge ourselves to do a little better with that.

In the case of our marriages (those we are familiar with), let's find creative ways to still be generous, even when we feel we have a "right" to be selfish. And, perhaps even when we don't feel we want to give anything positive at all.

Giving never HAS TO BE excessively lavish or grandiose. It just has to be sincere. That's all God asks of us when we give. So, let's challenge ourselves to be more generous with our time, wherewithal, and other resources and simply, "give what you have at hand."

And, whether those profits are financial, spiritual, or physical manifestations will always be God's discretion, but know that He's aware of your efforts. So, whatever you're called to do, do it as if He alone is the sole Recipient and Benefactor of your efforts.

You and I cannot take our places at the gate if we don't show up, and show up with our integrity and righteousness about us. Remember that God will cause your words and actions to stand out, in positive ways, but you and I have got to bring 'em to the table first! SHOW UP!

Intimacy and friendship with God is something all believers long for. Crisis and difficult tasks can cause us to sometimes feel as though the intimacy with God is gone. It's not. Be reminded as you listen today, that God, the Specialty God, is present, and concerned with you and your marriage.

I've found that Job 29 Man is for men what Proverbs 31 is for women. In season 2, as ishshahs, we're looking at this chapter for ourselves. Today, we pray through verses 1-3; KNOWING that with Elowah we can always begin anew. He's always there to watch over us, guide our ways, and resurrect the assignments He once placed within us.

THANK YOU for journeying with me through Proverbs 31 this season. I hope it has been just as edifying, encouraging, and enriching for you as it has for me.

Today brings the culmination of my first season on Anchor, and I am reminded of the value, passion, and importance of praise. God has not withheld praise just for Himself. He is to receive the utmost and highest of it, but He has commanded that it be offered and shared among men (on this side of heaven).

He approves of wives, #ishshahs, receiving such praise. If you know of a capable, intelligent, generous, hard-working, and providential woman, RISE UP and bless her; today. She just may need that encouragement.
