Introducing Being Luminary, the new podcast from Angie Browne.

In this podcast, you are going to get to hear a combination of my thoughts on how we can be luminary. I'm going to be talking across this vast topic area of diversity, equity and inclusion. I'm going to be shining a light on the complexities of holding some of these marginalized and intersectional identities. I'm going to be talking through the lens of sex, sexual orientation, religion and belief, through the lens of age, through the lens of trans inclusion, through the lens of gender, through the lens of disability, of pregnancy and maternity. I'm going to be looking through the lens of all of those protected marginalized identities and sharing luminary practice, sharing luminary stories. I'm going to be offering provocation, and I'm going to be offering support. Because my intention is that the Being Luminary podcast becomes a safe harbour.

And you won't just be hearing from me. Over the coming months, I've got some really beautiful interviews lined up for you. The people I'm speaking to are every day, you will definitely have heard of some of them, and they would describe themselves as everyday people. But they are by no means ordinary, they are everyday, but by no means ordinary luminaries, and I hope that you're going to learn from them, I hope you're going to be inspired by them. I hope that our conversations will encourage you to decide that maybe the time has come for you to shine some light too and I want you to learn from this podcast, I want you to have some things that you can take away.

Hello friends,

The eagle eyed among you will have noticed that we haven't been uploading new episodes of the Nourish Collective Podcast recently.
That's because we've had a hiatus while we prepare to launch our brand new podcast -  Being Luminary. It is all about everything diversity, equity, inclusion, leadership, ethics, and humanity.
I'd love it if you joined me there.

So, did you know that Nourished Collective Community Projects started with a coaching conversation about hair?

Well, in this episode I give you the low down on how they started, what they are and where they are going.

We are now reaching the end of our third community project and with the fourth and fifth in the pipeline, I am confident that these projects are an essential pillar of the work of Nourished Collective.

I am always looking for new voices and am now extending this offer to all and anyone who identifies as a woman and who would like to explore finding their voice in this safe and supportive way.

In this episode, I talk about being seen.

Lots of the women I coach describe not wanting to be seen, not wanting to do public speaking, not wanting to lead in meetings and in conferences because they say they feel uncomfortable.

Sometimes this discomfort is about not wanting to be seen - physically - rather than being about feeling inadequate. But not wanting to be seen is based on ideas we have about the way we look.

Let's thrash it out.

If you want to join a community of women where we talk about all these things and more we'd love to see you in Nourished Collective: https://nourished-collective.mn.co/

I am back with a new season of the Nourished Collective Podcast and it feels so good!

What happens when we don't speak up? Why do we sometimes fail to speak up? How can we change the ideas we have about ourselves as people who 'speak up'?

In this episode, I share a story about speaking up by way of sharing my narrative coaching framework with you.

If you want to find your voice and amplify your message I invite you to join my fabulous community Nourished Collective. You can join here: https://nourished-collective.mn.co/plans/52171?bundle_token=e78488461d6a7cc5ff353f28f26f571e&utm_source=manual

In this episode, I talk about the trick I have been learning. It's a trick that allows me to bring deep reverence and seriousness to life - to its challenges and opportunities and at the same time to hold these things as lightly as I can. It's making the world of difference to my mind management!

As it's my son's birthday I'm thinking and musing on the relationship between Hygge and celebration. Marking the moments of our life with festival and ritual adds to creating a spirit of Hygge. We can do this even if we are socially isolating!

View Details

In this episode, I talk about the importance of bringing ritual to the every day in order to create hygge but also as a means of bringing presence and meaning to many more of the moments of your day.

In this episode, I share a couple of stories of ephemera. Of how are objects, our bits and pieces, our collections and treasured items can bring a quality of Hygge.

In this episode, I talk about the importance of observing the detail of our lives. The detail anchors us in the now. The detail colours in and adds texture to these present circumstances and we can take comfort there.

In this episode, I talk about the importance of loving the space we live in. We may be hunkered down in our 'shelters' for some time to come, so making it work for work and play, for professional and domestic spheres is going to a priority.

View Details

In this episode, we talk about the importance of providing human shelter for another person. Sharing touching moments in times when no touching is recommended.

In this episode, we explore the Hygge quality of belonging to the present moment. Even when you don't want to. Even when there is soooo much to do! Draw in. Enjoy.

The podcast is back for another daily minisode. Today I am talking to all the folk out there who are self-isolating and who feel isolated. I'm also encouraging those of us who can 'hear' loneliness, to reach out.

In this episode, I explore how to manage yourself and others during the Christmas term.

The strategies I share are in support of those who find busy seasonal periods a challenge and can, of course, be used whenever they might be of use.

In this episode of the podcast we are having a chat about loneliness at Christmas.

As educators we tend to extend our thoughts, problem solving abilities and efforts towards children who may be dreading the Christmas holidays.

What we don't always do is extend our thoughts towards our own potential loneliness or that of other adults working in our schools.

I share some tips for managing loneliness and extend my warmest wishes for the season :-)

In this episode of the podcast, I talk about some of the ways in which we let other people's behaviour affect us.

I share some examples of other people's behaviour that I feel used to unduly upset me in my work in school and share a few thoughts on how we can begin to release other people from the burden of having to do everything right in order to please us!

As usual, I would love you to reach out if this podcast resonates, or leave the podcast a review in iTunes!

November is 'Compassion Month' here on the Nourished Collective Podcast.

So, I am starting off this season on compassion by talking about self-compassion because that is where I believe it truly begins.

In this episode, I share a story about my less compassionate self. Indeed I share a story about my own bias that stopped me in my tracks.

I share to help anyone who is interested in self-development think about their own bias and their own blind spots.

I hope that you can be compassionate with yourselves.

In this week's episode, I start off with a little bit of a rant in support of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. I couldn't help myself.

I talk about the pernicious shared consciousness that says 'stop whinging' and invite you to whinge on people!

I am also teaching the final part of the series that has been 'Finding Peace'. This week we are bringing everything together and writing up where we have found wisdom in the middle of our problems.

Let me know how you've got on with these activities!

In this episode of the podcast, I talk about adopting a stance of curiosity in the face of adverse or problematic scenarios.

I share my love of Rob Bell and talk about what he has to say about curiosity and I highly recommend going and checking out his amazing podcast 'The RobCast' - it is simply THE BEST!!

I also share the third exercise in the series 'Finding Peace'. No surprise this week's exercise is all about cultivating curiosity about the things that vex you.

I would love it if you would join me in Nourished Collective - it is a community for women who are interested in nourishing themselves with compassion and their schools and more than anything want to show up ethically. You can join us here.

In today's episode, we move into the second part of the series called 'Finding Peace'.

If you didn't manage to tune in last week I really urge you to go back to listen to Episode 5 of the podcast as we did an exercise called 'Surveying the Landscape'. Today we choose one part of that landscape and really drill down.

These exercises are designed to support you in getting some of the things that are dragging you down out of your head and onto paper. I hope that you are left feeling a little lighter as a consequence.

As ever, if you have any questions about coaching with me then please do get in touch - hello@nourishedcollective.com

In this, the first of a series, I provide a simple tool to help you begin to find some peace in the midst of it all.

I talk about my relationship with anxious feelings, how I have been working over the years with anxious feelings in order to normalise feelings and experiences others of you may be having.

In this episode, I am talking about what I have termed a disingenuous system.

I talk about the fact that our school system is a system that knows deep down that the ills of society cannot be managed by schools and their leaders. I talk about the fact that it is a system that knows that modern British life is overwhelming for us all. I also talk about the fact that it is a system that knows that the stakes are too high for mere mortals and that that there is no pipeline to fill the posts being left in droves or those being fired for not meeting its standards.

I question the fact that it is a system that insists on celebrating the strong and venerating 'those that can' while looking on at those that flounder and ‘fail' like mortals like they are the problem.

In this episode, I talk about a topic that comes up a lot: What to do when the culture of your school, education setting or organisation does not mirror your values.

I do conflate culture and context a little bit in this episode (forgive me) but essentially I wanted to dig in to the subject of feeling uncomfortable in a setting and to give you some ideas to navigating this terrain.

As ever, please like and share this podcast with anyone you feel would benefit from listening. Let's stimulate some debate around the topic. Let's blog, comment and share in all the usual places.

P.S - there is a little tech glitch in the middle - apologies!
