Join me for a journey deep within yourself, discover your true calling, your best, most authentic self, and use it to create a future that matters, for yourself and for the world.
Extraordinary is a podcast about the journey of entrepreneurship, combining personal mastery with brand-building and business.
My (adult) journey began as an amateur and professional athlete, then, after working for several companies (Coca-Cola, Nike, management consulting, agency, etc. I found home. I became an entrepreneur. Entrepreneurship is the path I have been on for 15 years, and I will not have it any other way. As a strategist and entrepreneur, I consulted several hundreds companies and brands, built a multi-7 figure brand consultancy with 20 employees, started and sold a couple of companies, and now I am the Founder of The Future Academy® where I get to coach, train, and consult amazing, talented entrepreneurs - helping them remove their limitations and create the future they want.
Let’s get real for a second: not all clients are created equal. Some are a joy to work with—they respect your expertise, pay your fees without flinching, and actually get the value you bring to the table. Others… well, let’s just say they make you question your life choices. If you’ve ever found yourself dreading a client call, you know exactly what I’m talking about.
So here’s my argument, plain and simple: now is the time to focus only on the right clients. The difference between great clients and the wrong ones isn’t just a matter of preference—it’s the difference between building a thriving business and running yourself into the ground.

This one might hurt, but you need to hear it.
If you'd like to exit your consultancy, agency, or other professional service business..and you have built it like 99% of entrepreneurs in this space...
It probably won't happen.
Or, you'll get a low price with terrible terms.
Why?
The way most professional service businesses are built and managed goes against what buyers are looking for.
It's because of the same reason you're probably stuck at low seven-figures, despite having been at it for quite some time.
I also show how you can 10x (or more) the value of your service business.
Hint:
Productize. Standardize. Systematize.
Build recurring revenue offers.
Diversify your client base.
And most of all...
Get. Off. The. Org. Chart.
Your business is too dependent on you, the founder (for everything).
You ARE the business.

Most professional service firms stop growing at a couple of million (or a few million) in annual revenue. There is a logical reason for it, and to solve the problem, you need to think about your business model, and what kind of business you want. There are two main models to choose between:
1. A customized business.
2. A standardized business. There are benefits (and cons) to both, however I'll choose the standardized business all day long. And, you can keep a bit of customization...as you'll learn. If you want help building and growing your agency or consultancy, go to thesimplecompany.com and follow the links, check out resources, training, or book a call with me.

Happy New Year!
You want to grow this year, and I know it. So do I.
But, not so fast.
Before you go for "more", make sure you don't grow the parts of your business that are not healthy and profitable.
First, analyse your business, then simplify it.
Then scale it. Do it by understanding the core geometry of your business.

The Process For Simplifying To Scale1. SimplifyMost businesses lose focus on their most impactful activities over time. Adding “more” can allow complexity to creep in, and this is the silent killer of profitability and growth. Complexity leads to mediocrity, and mediocrity will eventually kill a business.
Simplifying creates leverage. It’s about two key activities: focus and design.
Focus: Identify and prioritize the highest-value activities while eliminating or delegating the rest. This applies to your best customers, offerings, processes, people—everything.
Design: Enhance the “best stuff” to make it more useful, enjoyable, functional, and aesthetic. This includes improving the front stage (propositions, customer experiences, etc.) and the back stage (systems, operations, etc.) of your business.
This is what Steve Jobs did when he returned to Apple in 1997, transforming it into the world’s first trillion-dollar company.
Your systems should answer key questions:
How will you systematically generate leads?
How will you convert leads into sales?
How will you consistently deliver value at a profit?
How will you retain clients?
Your system should handle most of the heavy lifting, ensuring sustainable growth.
For example:
Grow your leads through referral systems, partnerships, and direct outreach.
Increase conversions with a better offering, enhanced sales processes, and improved skills.
Engage with past clients through relationship-building and follow-ups.
Retain clients longer by adding back-end offers and improving the client experience.
Improve margins with better business models, automation, and cost control.
In my playbook, I’ve identified over 100 proven growth multipliers. Implementing just a handful of these can more than double your profits in 6–12 months.
In Summary
Simplify: Find and focus on the most profitable areas of your business.
Systematize: Build processes that enable profitable, predictable, and scalable growth.
Scale: Implement growth multipliers to amplify your results exponentially.
This is my Simple Company Method.
Wanna work with me?
I partner with companies to implement this process and help you boost your profits + scale your business.

Entrepreneurs are a special breed.
That's why we are not understood by "normal" people around us.
We're the crazy ones. The dreamers.
There is a special energy about entrepreneurs, isn't there?
That's why we need to find our tribe and stick to it.
Joining a community or mastermind group (like Original Minds) can be game-changing.

It's been 16 years since I gave up my monthly salary as an employee. And it was a good salary too. But entrepreneurship chose me, and I just tried to resist it. But it came knocking, and I surrendered.
In this episode, I share four key meta-level lessons that I have learned from my years in the game.
If I had to start all over, I would not negotiate these...I hope you get value from them.

There is a simple equation that can help you drive growth.
QUANTITY X QUALITY = RESULTS
To improve quality, for more quantity. In this episode, I explain what I mean.

More and more people come into the space of brand consulting and brand strategy. More and more people teach and train brand consultants, most of whom have never been in the deep trenches. Growing a business is hard enough when you go at it alone. I used to think I needed to build everything myself, and that took so much time while also including risk, money, and other resources.
As entrepreneurs, we're conditioned to exploit our own time and resources for profit. But what if there is another way, one that gives you more leverage and a faster path to growth?
Partnerships are that path. In this episode I share how you can supercharge your growth and have unlimited leads and resources by tapping into this amazing strategy.

I recorded this episode for all you independent consultants struggling to break the 15k/mo barrier. As you'll hear, there is a reason you might not consistently make more, and I'll explain why. Are you interested in creating a lifetime of wealth in 1-3 years? The biggest missed opportunity for business owners is that most never exit or don't get close to the potential exit value. In this episode I share what I would do to help you grow your business exponentially in 2024.
I first share the process, then I go through the 10 Paths To Exponential Growth.
The great thing about these paths is that they compound. Even the smallest of improvements here and there turn into gigantic results.
Here they are:
Change Your Strategy
Change Your Business Model
Create A Better Offering
Get More Leads
Convert More Leads Into Sales
Make More Money Per Transaction
Make More Money Per Customer (CLV)
Increase Margins
Reduce Operating Costs
Leverage Acquisitions
Hope you enjoy them.

In this episode, I share three common problems that owners of agencies and consultancies make, and how to overcome them.
Having worked with hundreds of entrepreneurs in the consulting and agency space, and having recently revied more than 2000 websites, I know these are problems that the large majority deal with.
I hope some of these ideas set you on a path of making better strategic choices for 2024.
If you want help with these things, please reach out to me at tobias@thesimplecompany.com
In this episode, I share one of my favorite topics (obsessions), which is to figure out Why customers should choose a specific brand and offering and how that brand/offering can become so relevant and valuable that it leads to "onlyness" (being seen as the only viable choice).
To see the model I reference, check this article I wrote on LinkedIn
https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7118670981656645632/
In this episode, I share three levers that you can pull to achieve an exit of more than $10 million dollars, even if your earnings are under $1 million. In fact, these levers work at any level, but in this episode, I show how a company doing $500k in earnings (EBITDA or SDE) could achieve an exit at a 20x multiple in as little as 2-3 years.
I'm talking about:
Valuation
x
Growth
x
Arbitrage
If you want help with planning an exit, selling your company, or if you want to be part of a roll-up, email me at tobias[at]thesimplecompany.com
If you want to scale your agency or consultancy, you have to productize.
Trying to satisfy the ever-changing needs and wants of clients is a good idea, but it is not usually a profitable, sustainable, and scalable business model.
Why?
Because you're likely shifting your "assembly line" all the time.
You need to standardize and systematize.
I am opening my productization program Beta™ for new clients over the next couple of weeks.
You'll build a productized service offering in 30 days - then you'll have a business asset you can sell forever.

More than 95% of entrepreneurs don't reach their goals and dreams. The reason is simple.
In this episode I share how to solve the most pressing problems you might be experiencing:
Everything in your business rests on you.
You struggle with making your business predictably profitable.
You have not been able to grow "beyond yourself".
If you identify with any of these problems, and the pains that come with them...listen to this podcast.
We have created an assessment you can take, and we'll help you break down your results and give you a simple strategy for more than doubling your results. We'll do an assessment coupled with a strategy call for business owners who are already doing a minimum of $500k per year.
Take the assessment and book here

Unless you have the money, impact, and freedom you want, you probably don't have these three systems dialed in. And to be frank, unless you get them implemented, you'll never have those goals.
In this episode, I share the main reasons you might be maxed out, feeling like everything rests on you, and how to fix it.
We're taking on a small number of clients who want to get these three systems implemented and to fix their profitability and growth issues.

For 15 years of my life, I spent my time building and leading my brand consultancy, and a few other agencies I either founded or owned.
In this episode, I talk about what I would have done differently...and how I would have made LEVERAGE the main goal.
It took me the first seven years to realize just how inefficient the consulting/agency model actually is. I guess that’s why most people in the consulting and agency industries are driven by the passion to create and serve more than building empires and making bucketloads of money. What do you think?
Here’s something I learned:
You will never make a lot of money without leverage.
You will never have a lot of impact without leverage.
Leverage means you have a multiplier between the inputs and outputs of what you do.
Read more at www.tobias.blog/p/build-once-sell-forever
You might not like the word "selling", and you would not be alone if that is true.
But what if I told you there is a better way, and that Sigmund Freud convinced me to believe so :)
In this episode, I talk about a couple of powerful frameworks for getting deep insights about your potential customers.
I talk about The Pleasure Principles, and how to combine it with The Structure Of Belief, for sales (influence) success.

In this special episode, I share what we're building with our new venture, The Simple Company® - and how you can possibly join, if you're interested.
We are on a mission to build the world's most influential company for entrepreneurs and small businesses, focusing on brand and business consulting and coaching. Yup. Nothing less.

In today's episode, I share some timeless wisdom that I learned from some of the great masters of the past (including James Allen). Also sometimes called "The Iron Laws Of The Universe", I am talking about cause and effect. But not only cause and effect in the physical world, but of the causes you set in motion internally, that will later manifest externally.
This is not a new idea, nor is it mine. But I think we need to be reminded of it, and to take inventory of what causes we are setting in motion every day (consciously or subconsciously).
Hope you enjoy it!

And more than that, I make you a No-Brainer Offer :)

Most business owners lack leverage in their business, meaning that there is a non-existent (or low) multiplier between inputs and outputs.
When you sell 30 hours of work, and you have to work for 30 hours, your time multiplier is 1x. Not good.
But if you sell a project at $15k and you work 30 hours, you have leverage. Maybe you're amazingly efficient. Or maybe you are a true alchemist, turning your ideas into gold....
In fact....that's what business is about.
In this episode, I talk about how simplicity creates leverage, like nothing else.
Hope you enjoy it.

In this episode I talk about the seven most common reasons agency owners (and other professional service firms) struggle to become predictably profitable, and why they often fail to grow.
I have sinned myself...I was guilty of doing ALL the mistakes I share as I started my own brand consultancy in 2008.
Nowadays, I consult and coach owners and see them making the same mistakes.
Just to be clear, you can be successful despite being a sinner (I say that jokingly), but you will make it more difficult than it has to be...

One of the most ignored concepts in business in my experience is positioning. I mean, people know of positioning, but they don't practice it well. Why? For one, it's scary, because it goes against common sense in many ways.
In this episode, I talk about a principle from my upcoming book/booklet (let's see what it becomes).
I call this principle Carve Out Your Space And Own It.
It's about the importance of discovering where you should space, and how to show up and lead within that space.
Please don't ignore it ;)
If you like help with positioning your brand and offering, reach out to us at hello@thefutureacademy.com
I'd be the first to admit my headline sounds a bit cocky and that I might have more to learn from you than you have to learn from me.
However, I decided to challenge myself with a question. If my life depended on it, if someone held a gun to my head and told me I must make your business thrive, what would I do?
I came up with six non-negotiable principles I have come to believe are decisive for your growth and success.
If you have been reading or watching my content before, you might know that I am passionate about helping entrepreneurs turn their potential into greatness. I believe strongly in entrepreneurship as a force for positive change in the world. I wish more people would turn their talents into thriving businesses and move the world forward.
So why do so few create something extraordinary? Why do so few even break even?
Over my 20+ year career, I have had the privilege to work with thousands of people, and I have come to learn what the biggest obstacles to growth and prosperity are.
So I asked myself, what are the most important ways in which I could help ANY entrepreneur and business succeed? Could I?
In a nutshell, here is what I would do to ensure that you would achieve great success. To be clear, we would not work on all things at once, but these principles would work as the checklist to ensure you reach your dreams.
What does it take to achieve extraordinary levels of success as an entrepreneur and in life?
Many things, for sure...but as I've been exploring this topic for the last 20+ years of my life, and after reading several hundreds books on the subject, I have learned that there are three areas that extraordinary achievers keep expanding. In this episode, I share what they are, and what you can do to to achieve extraordinary levels of success.
If you'd like help with these, reach out to me at hello@thefutureacademy.com
In this episode, which I shot in a garden in the south of Portugal (also available on my YouTube channel) I share my creative process. It's a process I developed through trial and error over the years, and I have come to learn that this process never fails me. I mean, coming up with great ideas is not easy. But I find that by having a framework for feeding your mind, then cross-pollinating insights and ideas will lead to an infinite amount of ideas, some of which are crap, and some of which are original and useful.
Try it for yourself and let me know what you think!

If you're in the professional services space (agency owner, consultant, coach, etc.) one of the SMARTEST things you can do is to PRODUCTIZE your service(s).
When you think of your service as a product, you will start to STANDARDIZE it, so that you can deliver a specific outcome repeatedly over time.
The main benefits are: -You can get higher margins -Your business becomes more predictable -You can grow and scale your business and...you can remove yourself as the BOTTLENECK of your business.

Have you ever listened to someone more experienced than you as they told you something important....yet you chose to ignore it?
I know I have.
During the first seven years running my brand consultancy, I ignored not only what I learned from industry leaders and gurus, I ignored my own advice...the advice I gave my clients as a strategist...
I feel like such an idiot...but I more or less wasted seven years building my agency the wrong way...
I am talking about the same way practically everyone builds and operates their agency, consulting firm...or any professional service firm.
Hope you enjoy the episode.
Why do we measure business success based on revenues, when profits are the only thing that really matter. I mean, sure, size does matter (sometimes), but aren't you more interested in having a profitable business than a big one?
In this episode, I share some principles for how to make your agency or consultancy profitable, how to avoid some common traps (I've been there....), and three "must" ideas you will have to implement to make your business profitable (and scalable).
Hope you enjoy the episode.
p.s. contact me at tobias [at] thefutureacademy.com if you'd like to share ideas or connect with me.
We're working closely with agencies on the stuff I talk about in this episode.
We all know BRANDS matter, but do you know how you can translate your brand-building investments and activities into MONEY?
This could blow your mind!
Learn a simple, powerful formula that connects to your brand.
In addition to explaining how "brand" connects to revenue, and profit, I also share a couple of opportunities.
I work with a small number of selected clients to implement strategies around brand- and offering development, client acquisition, and operations (based on my work around what I call The Simple Company).
I am launching a brand new membership service, which works la lot like a mastermind. It's for ambitious, visionary entrepreneurs who want to build 7 and 8 figure businesses (you don't have top be there yet), and who want to live a passionate life and have it all...experiences, relationships, growth, lifestyle...
If you're interested, please email me at hello@thefutureacademy.com and I'll connect you with my team.
Brand consulting needs a serious upgrade.
Let's be real.
What used to work in "brand-building" does not work as well today.
And the majority of the industry fails to make a decent living.
I've been in this space for almost 15 years, and I've seen enough to say that it's time we stop doing it the old way...
Brand strategy followed by "branding", a.k.a brand communications (visuals, messaging etc.) is simply not enough in a 2022 environment.
Let's replace RE-BRANDING (as we know it) with RE-INVENTION.
As brand consultants, we must hold ourself to a higher standard. We can bring more value that lawyers and business consultants at best. We combine strategy with creativity, which is how we can create magic for our clients.
We're in the business of future creation, connecting companies and customers with a greater future.
In this eposiode, I share what a better model looks like. It's a model I have practiced throughout my career, and it deliver because it's about driving innovation and business transformation through the lens of "brand".
Check out the video in the comments below, and if you like it, apply to be one of the 20 people who joins me for Certified Brand Consultant™ - 10 weeks of training and coaching.
I am only opening this program 1-2 times per year, so if you want in, just DM me and my team will set up a call to discuss it.
Btw, if you're not into brand consulting but would me and my team to apply this model and thinking to your brand and business, please DM me too...we work with growth-minded companies to drive growth and profitability through their brands.
Positioning is one of the most important ideas in business. More than your brand strategy, your position is the heart of your business strategy. But how do you go about discovering your positioning?
In this episode I share the framework I created about 10 years ago and used with hundreds of clients.
It's as simple as it can be, and I am confident that it will help you.
Dig out a pen and paper, and follow this simple exercise.
if you want the tool sent to you, please email us at hello(at)thefutureacademy.com and we will send the framework.
Hope you enjoy the episode.
In this episode, I share the one thing any business needs to become unstoppable.
When you ask people what they want the most, they don't usually mention this thing....but all entrepreneurs secretly crave it.
I am talking about PREDICTABILITY.
When your business is predictable, you don't have to live in a reactive, short-term mode.
You can create, innovate and make strategic, long-term decisions that serve your mission and your ultimate dream.
In this episode, I share what it takes.

This is THE most important era for brands. This is also the best time ever to become a brand consultant. In this episode, I talk about how brands create value and differentiate, and how mere product or service benefits won't suffice anymore.
I explain my model for value creation and differentiation. You can use it to frame questions and ensure you are creating value on multiple levels (stacking value).

Here's a GREAT insight and principle for you if you want to avoid feeling fear while you perform (on stage, video, podcast, or wherever). It's not about strategy, it's not about tactics....it's about something a lot BIGGER than that. Listen in to see what I mean, and I am sure you will agree.
Let's get real about the purpose of entrepreneurship. It's not to hustle and suffer, it's not even to build a successful business. In this short episode, I share what I think you will agree is the purpose of it all...

The other day I had the privilege to sit down with Scott Goodson, founder and CEO of StrawberryFrog and talk about how to ACTIVATE BRAND PURPOSE.
For the last 25+ years, Scott has worked with brands such as Google, P&G, Emirates Airlines, Walmart, Coca-Cola, Mercedes, and Truist.
Beyond having a purpose and talking about it...some brands and companies are truly aligning their talk with their action.
Scott just wrote a great new book on the subject...and it's called Activate Brand Purpose.

Why do about 95% of entrepreneurs fail? Why do only 20% ever make money, and why do the majority lose money as entrepreneurs?

Lately, I've had many discussions where it turned out that LACK OF ALIGNMENT was the problem.
When we feel aligned with who we are and the future we want to create, we tend to feel motivated, inspired, confident, and excited about our lives.
And the opposite is also true. When we feel out of alignment, well, our lives don't feel all that exciting. We get stuck; we get anxious, bored, we feel miserable, even depressed.
Alignment, it turns out, is a BIG part of what makes us happy and fulfilled, or miserable.

In this episode, I share a concept called Trainability, which I learned from my physiotherapist and friend. The core concept is simple; you won't reach a higher level before you remove the limitations you have (whether that means your physical or mental limitations or both).
Unless you are trainable, any training you do won't help you maximize your potential, and your performance.
Why do we make it so hard for ourselves to reach our goals?
Why do we focus on so many things, instead of taking the fastest route forward?
In this episode, I talk about the magic power of focus.
If you need help in your business or building your brand, I invite you for a free strategy session with me. Book it here:

I talk to many entrepreneurs around the world every week. Many are brilliantly talented people building really exciting brands and businesses. Maybe you are one of them, or just like them.´

In this episode, I offer some thoughts on this very important subject...how to start making decisions from a higher place of self, and to make faster, better progress.

Most agencies, consultants, and coaches don't have offers. That's strange in itself...but if you are one of the smart ones, and you want to create one...then look no further.

In this episode, I talk about indisputably the most important ingredient behind all successful people - self-education.
Anyone who believes that traditional education methods will be enough to prepare you for your whole career is nuts. The only way to stay relevant, the only way to stay ahead is to commit yourself to non-stop learning.
In this episode, I discuss the absurd statement that I often hear, which is "Why should I pay for self-education when all information is free?". This belief is what holds so many people back.
Investing in yourself is absolutely vital. For example, an online course is not something that TAKES time and COSTS money, but rather something you should think of as SAVING you time and MAKING you money.
