Thanks for tuning in to “Children of Light”. In today’s podcast we will listen to“The Lord is My Light.” Make sure to check out the podcast notes for some ideas on how to keep children engaged during the songs. Next we will talk about finding peace in our troubled world and listen to the song, “Peace in Christ”. Then our special guest will share a scripture. Finally I’ll share one of my favorite poems.

As we make the “The Lord Our Light” His light and love will be reflected in our lives. The closer we grow to Him the brighter His light shines in our lives. His spirit will speak peace to our souls. He said, “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” John 14:27

This week think about how has Christ brought peace to your life. How can you share that peace with others?

Thank you Connor! That scripture is a great reminder that Heavenly Father wants us to be happy, His plan is even called the Plan of Happiness. It reminds me of one of my favorite poems.

Smiling Is Infectious

Smiling is infectious,

you catch it like the flu,

When someone smiled at me today,

I started smiling too.

I passed around the corner

and someone saw my grin.

When he smiled I realized

I'd passed it on to him.

I thought about that smile,

then I realized its worth.

A single smile, just like mine

could travel round the earth.

So, if you feel a smile begin,

don't leave it undetected.

and get the world infected!

Lot’s of things are contagious the cold, the flu, a bad attitude. But kindness and happiness are also catching. Who will you spread your light God’s light, peace, and joy with today?

Tips and Extras

What makes light? The sun, fireflies… how many sources of light can you think of? List or draw pictures of light sources as you listen to “The Lord is My Light”. Later you can discuss some similarities and differences between the things that make light, how are these characteristics similar or different between those of Christ’s light?
