Thabang Sentso as known by his peers but TheBang JD as known by groove junkies is a Soweto born selector who is no novice to Mzansi’s music industry scene. His charisma and versatility (in music) being due to his up bring in Soweto when South Africa went through transformation in the 90’s. Being exposed to a multi-cultured society lead him to his amalgamative component of different genres under the electronic dance sphere. Like most kiddies born in the 80’s his first experience of dance music was in the early 90’s through Disco classics that hit South Africa by storm. His household filled with ‘eargasmic’ soundscapes (of melodies and groove) mutated his wet ears in a speed of light. Before you could know it in his teenage years, TheBang JD, was already tempering with the sounds of Hip-Hop, Jazz, R&b, Soul, Funk, Trance, Tribal-rhythms, House Music and literally any tangible live music sounds. It was no wonder that he started to produce his own music, 5 years post (his own productions) he teamed up with Blacknoize Records as part of their music production family and ventured into DJying. His spontaneous, flexible and innovative elixir built him the respect (and reputation) that saw him perform at the most prominent venues in and around South Africa.

TheBang JD now solely runs his own entertainment label Karelo Projects. With qualities such as being a reserved, studious academia, inventive, imaginative, enigmatic, shy but also bold he has managed to stay relevant for over a decade in the most challenging industry of electronic music, in South Africa.

No matter the occasion, place, music policy TheBang JD has remained one of the few Club DJs in the country who genuinely understand the precise role of a music deejay: “Just entertain the masses”

Most recent Projects and other achievements (to name a few): • Selected as a semi-finalist for SA’s Next top DJ by Newscafe (thus be ran by an agency management company DJSA) • Part management of City Soul Addicts ( a Deep Soulful House movement based in Braamfontein - Johannesburg) • Head co-ordinator for Reminisce Sunday (Once a month Deep-Tech House movement based at Kitchener’s in Johannesburg) • Performs his sets with a live ensemble of a percussionist, lead guitarist • Currently resident at San Deck in Sandton Sun The Industry placed TheBang JD in a different musical spectrum of (electronic music) production and DJ’ing, this cross-pollination is just the inception of many ventures of his frontier.
