Episode 100 of The Write it Down Podcast is here! We are overwhelmed with gratitude that you have followed us along for these past 3 years. There isn't a better way to ring in episode 100 than welcoming Pro Football Hall of Famer, Warren Moon, to the mic. Warren overcame the social stigma that African Americans should not be quarterbacks. He decided early on not to succumb to that line of thinking and to pursue his dreams of being an NFL quarterback. He spent his early career in the CFL, but it wasn't too long after that the opportunity to play in the NFL would knock on his door. Warren encourages us to keep chasing our dreams and not to let culture define our potential. You know what to do, sit back, relax, and get your pens ready!

I am so thrilled to announce our next guest, Jaimie Eckert. Jaimie and I met online a few years ago after I was diagnosed with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, specifically Scrupulosity. Scrupulosity is religious and moral OCD, in other words, it is the obsessive thoughts and compulsive behavior surrounding one's religious beliefs.A scrupulous person is overly concerned with doing the right thing and irrationally doubting one's standing with God. When I met Jaimie, I did not know much about OCD or their themes, but she walked me through that season so gently and help me restore my faith and sound mine. OCD has multiple themes, including but not limited to: harm OCD, relational OCD, pedophilia OCD, health OCD, scrupulosity OCD, and many more. Most people state things like "Oh that's just my OCD" when it comes to cleaning the house or requiring the blinds to be straight, but OCD is much deeper and intrusive. It is important not to confuse perfectionism with OCD. On this episode, Jaimie takes us on a lovely journey discussing Scrupulosity and how to heal from these intrusive thoughts and debilitating mental illness. I am excited for you all to listen or watch this episode as I know it will be educational and encouraging!

Jaimie Eckert is the founder and owner of Scrupulosity Solutions and dedicates her time to coach her clients to find peace on this side of Heaven and true healing with restoring their view of God as our loving Father. Whether you have religious OCD or not, I know you will be uplifted by this episode and learn something new. If you or a loved one is struggling with OCD, I advise you to seek the proper care. Counseling, medication, and group support are all effective ways to find healing from this mental hurdle. Jaimie always reminds us that "God loves you even when you're anxious." Sit back, relax, and get your pens ready!

On this episode, Chris recounts peculiar stories from his recent travels to Rwanda. Chris also shares with us the peace and freedom we have when we trust God instead of man. Tj Carroll has had a few mixtapes drop including his EP "October Baby", a few singles, and his latest album "Soul Poem" which debuted in May of 2021.

Tj has been connected with other 116 artists. The 116 is a notable Christian hip hop collective signed to the well known, Atlanta-based, Reach Records. Every year, Reach Records releases 116 Summer Album. Tj was featured on "116 Summer Twenty-One" with the hit song "Hectic" with recording artist, Hulvey.

Tj and I experienced many technical difficulties with our interview. We lost wifi twice and lost bits of our interview! On the other side, Tj's episode will encourage you that even if things don't go to plan, the end result can still be more than you could ever imagine.

Joining us today, is author and my new friend, Jake Keiser! Jake left the city life and moved to rural Mississippi to learn more self reliance. Her background is in marketing and PR, and she was tired of depending on society to meet her daily needs. Jake raises goats on her farm, makes recipes from scratch, learned to make her own lip balm and other convenient goods, and she also started a blog named Gucci to Goats! About a month after starting her blog, someone from Cosmo reached out to her to write and article about her life. This interview with Cosmo catapulted Jake into more connections which led her to write her first book "Daffodil Hill". This memoir describes Jake's discontentment with society's unwavering faith in the corporate system. She also shares her dark days and soul's journey to finding peace and contentment. When Jake moved onto five acres of farm land and simplified her life, she was able to see more clearly her purpose and passion.

Jake has a desire to inform people on the beauty of self reliance and the confidence that comes with learning new skills. She is charming, witty, and compassionate! I know you will love this interview and also her book releasing on June 7th!

Today's guest is social media influencer, fitness guru, and pilot, Joey Miuccio! Joey and I are from the same hometown and have tons of mutual friends, but we just recently met at my best friend's wedding. We had such a great time discussing the business model of social media, monetizing your passions, the hustle following your dreams, and the connections we have both made while in the pursuit of our goals.

I’m so glad Joey hopped on the mic to re-tell some of his stories that brought him to where he is today. Joey and his brothers started their social media popularity when they went viral on Vine. For those of you who are too young, Vine was the baby brother to TikTok ;) Anyways, The Miuccio Brothers were discovered by many talents, businesses, and followers. They ended up helping promote Magic Mike with Channing Tatum.

The best stories we share on this podcast, are the ones that inspire us to keep walking through the doors that open for us. Joey's journey has been nothing shy of amazing, and he challenges us to endure seasons that are challenging and to stay on a routine when life gets uncertain. You know what to do, sit, back, relax, and get your pens ready!

On this episode of Write it Down, we welcome President and CEO of Resist Spirits, Greg Martinez. Greg and his business are based out of Detroit and hope to see their liquor on shelves internationally as well as domestically.

Greg Martinez is well versed in entrepreneurship, however, after reading about George Clooney's success in the liquor business, Greg knew he could resist being average in all areas of his life including new business ventures. He started Resist Spirits LLC with intentions to bring people a Vodka that embodied their slogan "For Kings Not Gods", hence the name FKNG Vodka. Greg was celebrating with his friends one evening, and he playfully hollered at their waitress saying "we need more f***ing vodka!" Right then it hit him, what a bold and ambitious name for liquor! He didn't stop at Vodka though, there is now FKNG Bourbon in stock, and he is working to bring Tequila and Cigars to his inventory.

Greg is dynamic in personality, driven to success, and generous in nature. I am so glad he came on and boldly spoke about his passion. The bartender in me enjoyed this conversation so much, and I know you will too!!

Derrick Brooks was a first round draft pick by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 1995. Brooks played 14 seasons as a linebacker for the Bucs and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2014. I met Derrick at his Celebrity Golf Classic Tournament which raised funds for his charity. The Derrick Brooks Charities, Inc. has a mission to provide education, development, and vision to youth who face socio-economic challenges. Not only do they remind them of their hope and future, but they provide them the right resources to ensure a better tomorrow. Derrick Brooks was challenged by coaches like Bobby Bowden, during his FSU days, and Tony Dungy to look outside of football for purpose. Derrick reminds us that life should be lived for others and to pray over our plans for better success. Derrick Brooks shines in everything he does, and I am honored he came on Write it Down! Happy New Year! We are kicking off 2022 with an amazing guest and some firsts for @widpod! Local tattoo artist, Cash Combs, hops on the mic not only to share his journey, but he was also the first guest to ever freestyle on the mic. That's right, I drop the beat and Cash spits fire. We had a blast recounting Cash's incredible creative path, and how he overcame much to be where he is now. He went to four different elementary schools, experienced loss, and grew in humility along the way. Cash brings an energy to the show that simply cannot be matched! Episode 060! I cannot believe we made it to the end of 2021 and to WIDPOD's 60th Episode! Today's show is a bit of a recap of every episode released this past year. Our audio engineer, Marshal Manjarres, hops on the mic to discuss some of Write it Down's episodes and production. We then segway into a deeper conversation about Marshall's life experiences with drugs, festivals, and open relationships. We discuss how some things in life disguise themselves as love, but they end up leaving you to feel empty. Marshall is raw and honest on the mic, and he challenges us to accept true love. One of my favorite parts of this episode is towards the end when he drops his WID. However, you'll have to listen to the whole episode to get all of his wisdom! On today's episode, I host the show solo! That's right, no guest! This episode challenged me professionally in learning how to monologue, and it also allowed me to share a lot of personal things I went through this past year. The overall theme of this episode is keeping up the endurance and faith when life seems monotonous. We all have been through a lot of mental challenges, health scares, loss of loved ones, and political unrest. These obstacles reveal who we really are and expose some of our brokenness. The hope we have is much greater than the long race of life! Keep persevering and trusting the process. And also listen to this episode for tons of encouragement! Sit back, relax, and get your pens ready!

On the mic, is Ethan Sansoni, founder and visionary of the XV XIII Network (fifteen thirteen). This network has made The Write it Down Podcast possible from the very beginning. Ethan shares about his growth as a person and the importance of building things in this life full of meaning. Ethan is the general manager at Frog Bones Family Shooting Center, but he wears many more hats in the community. Perhaps Ethan's most important job title is: friend. He is a friend to many, and he always puts others first. Ethan and his friend Jackson Edwards were out of town one weekend and decided to get a tattoo. It was a random tattoo parlor with a stripper pole in the middle, and a story to tell soon after. They both got the roman numerals XV XIII tatted on their arms. The meaning behind the tattoo stems from the verse John 15:13 "Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends." From then on out, more of their friends got this same tattoo which began a network of people. Ethan began a show called Tats, and he interviews every person who received the tattoo. Each person has a larger meaning behind getting the tat, and the XV XIII Network has a larger meaning than just hosting podcasts. Thank you Ethan for letting me host on this network, and thank you everyone for listening and supporting. I hope Episode 049 brings you laughter and some more encouragement! This episode is Write it Down's very first video interview! Click this link to watch:

I sit down with Christian hip-hop recording artist NXTMIKE. Mikey grew up in Long Island and later began his music career. His music merges New York hip-hop style with lyrics to share the Gospel. His life wasn't always on the right path, but The Lord lovingly found him and gave him a new name, some would say the NXT name. Mikey and I chat a lot about the entertainment industry, Catholicism vs. Christianity, our callings in life, and just how personal The Lord is in our lives. He is a lyrical genius and his songs have beats that will pump you up to run a full marathon. Well... at least I love running to his music! Andre Reed was a privilege to talk to, and his humility is transparent from the beginning! Andre grew up in Allentown, Pennsylvania where he learned principles of hard work and resilience that transcended into his football career and following chapters of his life. He went to the little known Kutztown State University, a Division II school, where he played wide receiver and grew his skills on the football field. After being drafted in the fourth round by the Buffalo Bills, he stayed steady in his journey to prove that his work ethic- partnered with his natural talent would take him to new heights. He shares with us that whom to much is given, much is required. He spent a lot of his childhood developing his core values at a local Boys & Girls Club. Andre Reed uses his current platform to challenge kids to get after what God has placed in front of them through his foundation. The Andre Reed Foundation works with Boys & Girls Clubs in 6 different NFL cities. Specifically, Read with Reed 83 is a reading program he developed to inspire kids to grow in knowledge. "The goal is to encourage kids to exercise their mind, tackle a good book, and touchdown to READ at least 30 minutes a day." https://andrereedfoundation.org/readwithreed83/

On this episode, we pick up our conversation on rejection with Amy Crews. We dive right into the topic of rejection in romantic relationships. Amy recently went through a pretty difficult breakup, and she has graciously shared her heart and perspective on healing from heartache. If you have ever found yourself feeling rejected or heartbroken, you won't want to miss the second half of my interview with the lovely Amy Crews. She gives so much insight on recovering from rejection while discovering there is much more to life than living in fear from your past relationships.

It is always so easy to sit in your heartbreak and let feelings of rejection fester inside, but my hope is that this episode ignites you to take charge of your life and move on in a healthy direction. There is never any need to feel ashamed of your past relationships. We have the privilege to let God come into our situations and make us whole again. Who knows, you may fall in love again during the process! Sit back, relax, and get your pens ready because this is Write it Down!

This episode is the first installment of my conversation with Amy Crews on rejection. We have all faced rejection in multiple ways, whether that be with our jobs, dreams, or relationships. Part 1 of this interview focuses primarily on rejection in the pursuit of our dreams and how we can practically progress from our setbacks. Rejection often stains us with fear and anxiety, and if we allow it, rejection will cripple us into the next season of life. Amy reminds us, through her story, we can attribute the struggle of rejection with God molding us into who He wants us to be. We do not have to sit in our failures, but we can move forward.

  • As you listen to this episode, maybe ask yourself these questions:
  • What are things in my past that trigger the feelings of rejection?
  • Who are the people in my life that remind me of the truth of who I really am?
  • What are things I can begin doing to move forward and avoid sitting in fear?
  • Who can I start encouraging to take the focus off of myself?

Rejection is often the precursor for major success, and we have the ability to give our rejection to God and let Him redefine who we really are. Sit back, relax, and get your pens ready... because this is Write it Down!

On this episode of Write it Down, we are joined by Heisman Trophy Winner Danny Wuerffel. In 1996, Danny led the Florida Gators to win their first ever National Football Championship and went onto play for the New Orleans Saints, Green Bay Packers, Chicago Bears, and Washington Redskins. While Danny was a successful quarterback on the football field, his desire to serve others took precedence in his life. After retiring from the NFL, he joined Desire Street Ministries, an organization focused on helping under-resourced neighborhoods. Danny is the epitome of a servant leader. He reminds us to chase more than just success in this life.

While chasing your dreams, hustling on the field, grinding in the gym, and aiming to be successful in life are honorable, Danny reminds us that there is more to life. Success can be measured and may serve as a standard for worth in most cases, but we should challenge ourselves to chase something greater, something.... significant. Have you ever struggled with pursuing your dream? Sometimes you need a nudge from a friend, a pep talk from a parent, or perhaps an NFL Hall of Famer to light a fire under your butt! Marcus Allen does just that in this first episode of Write it Down! We often need to be reminded that we are set apart and have a purpose in life. This episode is full of life nuggets and compelling stories that will inspire anyone to keep working towards their goals!

Marcus Allen is a Heisman Trophy Winner, 6 time NFL Pro Bowler, Super Bowl MVP, and NFL Hall of Famer. Marcus was a first round draft pick in 1982 for the Oakland Raiders which meant his parents did not have to travel far from Southern California to catch his games. Marcus grew up in a strong family who implemented morals, character, and ambition. While Marcus Allen is one of the most decorated professional football players, he is also one of the most genuine people you could ever meet.
Marcus inspires people to chase their dreams, surround themselves with people who do the same, and help others along the way.
I am excited Marcus is my first guest. When I mentioned to him, my dreams of having my own talk show, he was the first to jump on board and tell me to "get after it".
We all need a Marcus Allen in our lives to remind us to hustle for our dreams much like he did. I am excited to share his story, and I am humbled by his friendship.
